Xerox Phaser 6250 Separation Page Option

The MacOSX Printer Driver for the Xerox Phaser 6250 has so many functions that simply do not work!
I am forced to export my booklet projects to Acrobat and then print them from a Windows computer because the MacOSX Printer Driver features don't work properly.
The most unacceptable failure is in the PRINTER FEATURES / ADVANCED / SEPARATION PAGE! The option to place a separation page at the end of each collated set simply doesn't work from MacOSX. It will insert a separation page between each PAGE rather than at the end of each SET that is printed.
Another peculiar feature is that when printing from InDesign or Acrobat Professional on MacOSX, the pages are sent one by one to the printer cue and it re-sends the entire data over and over for each set. If I print 10 copies of a 10 page book, it sends 100 pages of data to the printer cue. On Windows, the same printer driver sends 10 pages to the printer cue and it realizes it will print that 10 times.
I don't want to hear that the fault is Xerox or whatever, I spent a huge amount of money for my business to buy this printer and must continue to make use of it for another two or three years to justify this investment and I expect Apple to provide useable printer drivers and features.
Is there a way to report a technical flaw like this to Apple and know that someone there will actually do something about this problem?
G4 1Ghz Dual MDD   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I ran into this same issue today.  What finally worked was to use the Xerox driver to control 2 sided printing only and to use Reader to specify the number of pages on a page.  Make sure you set the page orientation in File=>Print Settings.  That way you can turn off the auto rotate and center.

  • Pages won't print in color on Xerox Phaser 6110

For some reason, I have to print as pdf, then use preview to print the pdf version if I want the document in color. If I try just going from pages to the phaser, I get a black and white document instead. I've been trying to find a setting in pages that might limit the color, but haven't found it. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

For some reason, I have to print as pdf, then use preview to print the pdf version if I want the document in color. In principle, if the imports colour photographs and creates colour page geometries in Apple Pages, then these objects will be colour managed to the digital graphic display, the digital graphic printer, and the digital graphic press. The colours will match provided the digital graphic devices have correct ICC colour space profiles and provided the conversions are configured correctly.
A digital graphic device that is capable of colour can be addressed in 1 bit (off/on without tone), grayscale (tone) and colour. How a digital graphic device is addressed cannot be defined by Apple Pages, it is defined at the device driver or at the device interface whether as a colour managed or colour blind command.
Apparently, the Xerox device driver is addressed differently depending on whether Apple Preview is rendering PDF or Apple Pages is rendering. If you can't find any setting in the Xerox device driver to change from grayscale to colour, the simplest solution is simply to save out PDF from Pages and print from Preview probably until OS X 10.6 is out.
To check the settings for the Xerox device driver, one place you might have a look is Print > Printer: (Xerox Phaser), Presets: (check that there is no preset for grayscale), scroll from Copies & Pages down to check ColorSync and also check if any application features and printer features that are able to affect a conversion to grayscale.
    Hope this helps.

  • CS5 on Win-7 to Xerox Phaser 7750 PS outputs 2/page printouts.

I recently upgraded to a new computer running Windows 7, 64 bit.  I have the Adobe CS5 with Acrobat.  When I print to my Xerox Phaser 7750 PS printer from any Adobe program (Even Reader) the output will print as if outputting 2 pages/sheet.  I.E. a letter size (portrait) file will be reduced to fit on half a page, landscape orientated.  If printing a multi-page document in Reader or Acrobat it will print booklet style.
I can override the problem in Reader and Acrobat by printing as an image, but the other products won't allow me to do this (or I can't figure out how!).  I have the most current Xerox driver, and Xerox is telling me it is an Adobe problem since my other PS printers work fine.
I have this problem only with Adobe Programs, and only on this printer.  All other programs I have print correctly to the Xerox, and the Adobe CS5 prints correctly with my other printers.  The Xerox is my only Color printer and I need to fix this problem.  Any help out there?

Did you ever find a solution to this problem as I have just encountered the same problem today?

  • Xerox Phaser 8860 on Network-How to turn off popup print job confirmations?

I recently upgraded to OS 10.6.4 and as expected I needed to reinstall the drivers for a few peripherals. One of which was the Xerox Phaser 8860 which is on the network. Everything works, but now after each print job prints out a window pops up in the center of the screen notifying me that ::Job### has printed on Xerox Phaser 8860::. It causes no serious problems, but it does knock me out of what ever program I am using. Which can get extremely annoying when I'm drawing and I repeatedly get halted mid (pen/brush) stroke. It stays up on the screen for about a minute and a few times it has remained up. There is an option to close, it simply gets really annoying after the 30th time. Common sense would suggest to not draw while a file is on it's way to the printer, but my work day is a constant flow of drawing, printing, color tests and editing. It's not practical or good for deadlines to stop drawing to wait for a print job to come out and the pop up window to go away.
I tested printing from the other computers, which are PC's using various versions of windows and they all come up with the same pop up window (though theirs come up at the bottom right of the screen). They do not receive confirmation windows from the other printers not on the network.
This suggested to me that this was a setting with the Xerox software. However, I spoke to the technical support for Xerox and they said that the pop up window had nothing to do with their software and claim that it had to be generated by the Mac OS 10.6.4.
I am regularly printing from the following programs:
Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Word, and Excel. The pop out window has acquired while printing files from all of these programs. I doubt that has any relation but I thought I'd add it, just in case.
I would very much like to know how to turn this confirmation notification off in OS 10.6.4. Or if anyone has an thoughts on what software could be the culprit.

In CWIS go to Properties > General > Printer Defaults and disable the Startup page  As for garbage prints, That sounds like a PS error. And they are almost always due to improperly embedded fonts. Have all your users switch the following in their drivers (Picture is the global driver, but the regular driver will have the same option.) Essentially by default the printer uses its own locally stored fonts on the jobs, but when the fonts are misunderstood, or unknown it winds up printing wingdings.

  • Xerox Phase 6280DN printing does not work anymore over wifi network help

    Hello
I am having recurrent printing problems within a WIFI home office network. After power-cuts (which occur frequently here) I can not print anymore from any computer in the WIFI network on a Xerox Phaser 6280 DN.
The printer is seen in the printer list but after clicking print in the printer queue it says "looking for printer" and /or "printing". When I connect the printer directly to a Macbook Pro it will print. Today I have downloaded the latest version of the printer driver of beginning this year from the Xerox support site. However now I can not add the printer to the printer list because it does not show up as an option! I restarted the laptop but this does not help. I have also restarted the airport express and airport base station but no luck. I did so by unplugging and replugging.
The Phaser is connected to an Airport express which talks to an Airport base-station. OSX is 10.6.3. Thanks for any help it is driving me mad.

  • Duplex printing on Xerox Phaser 6125

Hi all, I am having trouble duplex printing on my Xerox Phaser 6125 which has a manual duplex function. At least in Windows XP, where it works flawlessly. The Duplex choice in the printing/layout screen is greyed out, with whichever Xerox driver I install. Xerox Europe Ltd claim it's the Mac OS which causes this.
Before I decide to switch from XP to Mac: is this true? Is OS Lion resolving this issue?? Such a simple thing which works flawlessly in antiquated XP should surely work on a superior OS, right?

Hi, I faced the same issue, migrating from Windows to MAC and facing this issue in the driver.
I found a workable solution, involving even more manual tasks but works...
Here is how, inside Adobe Reader, but imagine that it would work from other printing apps also:
    1. Select Print, select Booklet
    2. From Booklet subset, select front sides only
    3. Print.
3a. transfer pages into feeder, no turning, flipping, just pick up en in the drawer as they were
    4. Select Print again, under Pages to Print, select More Options
    5. check Reverse Pages
    6. From Booklet subset, select back sides only
    7. Print and a booklet should appear.

  • Xerox Phaser 4400 in Yosemite

I have a workhorse Duplex Laser Printer (Xerox Phaser 4400N). It's now more than 10 years old, but suddenly I cannot get it to print from the Mac OS. I'm not sure whether this began with my update to Yosemite; I think I've printed a few things from Yosemite to it, but I'm not certain.
Xerox no longer provides drivers. I've tried using the Gutenprint CUPS driver. There is one labeled Xerox Phaser 4400N, and it can communicate with the printer (shows the toner cartridge capacity), but I cannot print even the test page from the Mac (the Print window says it's composed 67% of the page, but doesn't ever proceed to print anything.
I tried using a different Xerox (Phaser 4600) driver; that driver can communicate with the Printer but times out with an error (red status LED on the printer, after which the printer returns to "ready to print" with Green LED on the printer and no message returned to the Mac. I assume this is because the two printers are sufficiently different that the drivers aren't compatible.
The printer itself is fine: it prints all its test pages from the Printers internal setup firmware. I've just discovered that I can describe it as a Windows Printer in the Printers & Scanners Prefs Panel and print to it so long as my Win 7 virtual machine is running!
Is the Printer itself just not compatible with any drivers that work natively in Yosemite?

    Folksong wrote:
Your best choice is to download the ppd for your printer from the OpenPrinting site.  Put the ppd file in the /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/ directory at the root of your hard drive.  This ppd is actually supplied by Xerox.  That is all you need.  You don't need any other software from OpenPrinting, Gutenprint, or Xerox.
Thanks for your very helpful suggestion (even including a link to the needed ppd file!
Unfortunately, it only almost worked. I placed the file in the location you suggested, went to the Printers and Scanners pane in System Preferences, added an IPP printer, and the Phaser 4400N popped up in the "Select Software" list, displaying the correct printer icon, the correct installed RAM, and the correct hardware options list. Just like old times
However, when I attempted to print a test page from the Mac, the dialog box reported "Printing", then "Connected to Printer" but the job didn't complete. Watching the LED on the printer when I tried this a second time, I noticed that it flashed red, then amber, and as it did so the printer went through a "Power On Self Test" before returning to a green LED and the default monitor window message saying "Ready to Print."
I know the Printer is OK, because:
I can print to it from Win 7
I can even print to it from my Mac Yosemite OS if I add the printer as a "Windows Printer", but then I need to log in to my main user account on my Windows VM (VMware Fusion 7.1.0), but that only works while the VM is running!
I tried reseting the Printing System on the Mac (control-click in the Printers List in the Printers and Scanners Sys Prefs pane, select "reset printing system", add the printer again. Same behavior.
I know the Mac OS is communicating with the printer (I can ping it, various network utilities "find" it, I can't add the printer if it's powered down, and it correctly reports the status of the fuser and toner cartridge). However, each job that doesn't print generates an "Unable to get printer status" message in the Console log, and  a "Stopping unresponsive job" message if I delete the job from the Printing queue.
I had assumed that the Gutenprint drivers didn't work because of some incompatibility with Yosemite, and I'm guessing now that is indeed the case, because so long as I route my print jobs through my Win 7 VM I can print complex pdfs, formatted Word docs, even color jpgs (converted to grayscale by the printing system, of course) from my Mac with the Gutenprint driver selected. So, the printer is not a doorstop, but opening a 60 GB file (my VM) just to print a one page document is a pretty hefty bit of leveraging
I know that Apple doesn't support third party hardware, but I'm sure they have people in support who know about such things. Xerox does make a point of saying that the printer is not supported beyond OS X 10.6 because of some security changes introduced with the Mac OS 10.7 and later. Of course, the weird thing is that I KNOW I've been able to print to the printer through Lion, Mountain Lion, and Mavericks, so that's not the whole answer, either.
    Any other thoughts?
Again, thanks so much for your very helpful suggestion.

  • Xerox Phaser 3200MFP

I have a Xerox Phaser 3200MFP attached to a Windows XP Machine. It is shared as a network printer, and my Windows PCs can print to it without any issues. However, my iMac continues to have issues. I have one of the following issues, depending on which driver I use:
    1. Using the Xerox 3200MFP PS Driver: the printer spews jibberish. I simple test message, "This is a test message" consumes several sheets of paper.
    2. Using the Generic PCL Driver: the printer does nothing!
I am currently using OS 10.6.1 (or more - cannot remember the last number exactly). I downloaded and installed the Xerox drivers last night (09MAR10).
I do not want to have to buy a new printer for my new iMac - I bought the iMac because it was supposed to "just work"...
    HELP! (Please)
Does anyone have any idea? Any thoughts?

On the Xerox info page it says PCL 6 and postscript are "available." If you don't have those options, then you can't use the postscript (included in OS X) or Generic PCL drivers.
The gibberish symptom means you are trying to print postscript (standard output of OS X apps) on a printer that doesn't do postscript. Find out what your printer has, exactly.

  • Print Module - Page Panel: Page options & Photo Info lost

In the print module there are only 4 features left now in my final release version of LR3:
    1. Page Background colour
    2. Identity Plate
    3. Watermarking
    4. Cut Guides.
Victoria Bampton described also the features with a screenshot of LR3b2 in her "Missing FAQ-Rough Cut" (page 366):
    4. cut guides did not exist, but instead Page options with tick boxes, then 5. Photo Info drop down box, then 6. Font Size.
    What has happened?
How do I cover the following use case: Create an invitation with photos and own free text about date/time/venue?
Please don't answer "export a jpg from Lightroom and then use MS Word or some other editor".
From the beta phase I got the impression that creating such a pdf should be possible directly from Lightroom.

How do I cover the following use case: Create an invitation with photos and own free text about date/time/venue?
Lightroom's text layout features might not be as powerful as you might thought. You're option are:
Use a custom Identity plate to add some static text or graphic anywhere on the page.
Use watermarking to add some static text or graphic anywhere on the photo.
Use Photo Info to add some metadata, such as IPTC location or capture time, somewhere around your photo.

  • Annoying separator page

How to I stop the printer from printing the separator page?  HP4500 Officejet Wireless.  Windows 8.1 OS.
In the properties, the device settings only allow for identification of the separator page, but not the option to omit.
    Thanks.

Are you sure that you have identified which type of separator page is being printed?
There are various types, controlled from different places:
Spooler separator page , usually controlled via one of the tabs on the Printer Properties dialogue.
Application-specific print infomation page, sent (if enabled) from some application (e.g. Word).
With some printers, I think that the printer itself can be configured to print some sort of separator page; I have no access to, nor knowledge of, your printer model, so have no idea if this is applicable.
Print jobs may be sent to some printers via LPR (rather than port 9100); in such cases, I think that there may be an option to enable an LPR information page

  • Blank Sheet at beginning and between every printed page; Separator Page dialog box is blank.

I followed directions of another blog and when I got to the Separator Page dialog box, it said to "delete all templates listed in the Separator Page box", but mine was blank.  If I click on the browse button, I do find pcl, sep; pscript.sep; sysprint.sep; and sysprtj.sep files.  Do I delete these sep files?  I have a HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One Printer and am using Windows 7 (had same problem with VISTA).

I had this issue using FF 5.0, I fixed it by doing the following :
    # Go to firefox button, select options, options.
    # Find all the applications that are listed as Adobe
    # Change the action from 'Use Adobe Reader (in FireFox)' to 'Use Adobe Reader'
    Fixed :)

  • Xerox Phaser 7300dn will not print tabloid

I have a user with an 20" iMac running 10.6.4 and Adobe CS4. In that office they have a Xerox Phaser 7300dn color laser printer. The user cannot print to tabloid paper. Everything prints on 8.5x11 paper regardless of settings. Happens in Illustrator, Photoshop, whatever. There are two older white iMacs on that same printer that are running 10.5.x, and they have no problems printing to tabloid on that same printer. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the latest drivers from Xerox. I've updated the firmware on the printer. All the options show up in the print dialog boxes. This has to be an issue with 10.6 since the other Macs running 10.5 and a PC running Windows XP don't have this problem. Anybody else experience this issue? Any fixes? I'm getting desperate.
    Thanks.

I used to be able to collate just fine on my Laserjet 5000, but no longer.  I, too, found that it made no difference whether I checked the box or not. Is this still another bug in 9.4.5?  And yes, it is highly irritating.

  • Xerox Phaser 3400 PS & Mac OS.10.3.9

I bought my Xerox Phaser 3400 PS late 2002 (Printer Firmware Version: 1.04 01-21-2002) and I've used it with sucsess running Mac OS 9.2.2 on my Power Mac G4 with 768mb RAM installed.
As allways before, the units are connected via a 3C16793-ME OfficeConnect Switch 5 Ethernet-switcher.
I'm now running 10.3.9 and cannot make the Mac and the printer comuticate propperly. New drivers, XeroxPPD_Installerv1.7.1.dmg, has been downloaded and installed.
On the Xerox configuration I'm using AppleTalk and the TCP/IP is set to Static (and I've also tryed DHCP).
I've talked to both Apple Support and Xerox Support and we've used A LOT of time trying to solve the problems.
    1) In SAFARI I type the printers IP adress 10.0.0.45 and I'm able to see and print out a configuration page.
    2) Also I'm able to print out from Apple's web-site (SAFARI).
    3) But if I try to print from MAIL, I get about 60 blank pages...
    4) I can print from TEXTEDIT and WORD if the text to be printed just say «Print test», but it fails to print if I try to print out a page filled with words. In these situations I will need to restart the printer. Somtimes WORD even turns off the «Ready light» on the printer...
I've also tryed to make the Phaser print by using USB; but with same bad luck. Also; I have tryed to connect direct, not via the hub...
Has anyone out there a solutions to the problems?

It looks to me like xc6120pstops is crashing and dumping core. Or maybe the issue is with pictwpstops . If I switch over to the "Generic" PostScript printer everything works just fine (but I loose duplexing). And no problems printing from other applications, at least yet.
Has anyone else seen a similar problem?

I seem to be having the same problem with my Xerox Phaser 6120 although it is not application specific. xc6120pstops crashes even if I just print a test page. Generic postscript printer works fine. I've managed to set the printer default to use the duplexer via the web interface, but I'd still rather have full access to the driver.
The Crashreporter log (which oddly reports that xc6120pstops is PPC even though it should be Intel) indeed shows a crash, but I don't know how to interpret any of the detailed information:
