Xerox Phaser 7800 Printer Status issue

I have a Xerox Phaser 7800 printer printing to a Windows 2008 Server R2 print server. While printing to the server the Xerox printer setup will continue to insert print jobs into the queue that say "Printer Status".  The "Printer Status", print jobs can be deleted without effecting the final printing. They will also timeout if you just leave them in the queue. From what we can tell, these "Printer Status" jobs are asking for status info before sending the print job (is paper loaded, toner leverls OK, etc...) Why they need this info... I don't know. When the Xerox printer setup is printing directly to the printer, the printer responds approperiatley and everything is fine.
Since we operate in a public printing environement (University) we need to be able to control access to the printer via a printer server.
Xerox's official stance on this is that they do not support printing from Mac OS X to a Windows print server. It is an unsupported configuration. This seems to be a commone stance for printier manufactures. We have a Ricoh printer with similar issues.
On the Ricoh printer we were able to locate the section of the PPD code that makes the similar request of printer status and comment out those lines so the request is no longer sent.  I'm having a little more trouble with the Xerox PPD in locating the lines of code to comment out.
If anyone has experience editing PPDs you help would be greatly appreciated!
If anyone has influence at Xerox, help them understand their mistake and to at the very least change the PPD to allow the "Printer Status" requests to be suppressed as part of the printer setup.

Same issue here with Adobe Reader XI 11.0.06. It will NOT collate whatsoever, regardless of the settings on the Print Dialog or the Printer Properties. It works with all other apps. Using HP Postscript drivers that come with Windows 7 SP1.

  • Xerox Phaser 7500 Print Quality Issues (streaks) See Photo

Our Phaser 7500 is printing streaks when toner is light (heavy toner doesn't seem to be an issue) If we print a low percentage of black - IE: 5%-20% black AKA: Gray - we get streaks.See sample image. I thought the issue was the imaging unit, so I swapped out the BLACK with each of the other units (putting CYAN in BLACK slot, then printing, doing the same with yellow and magenta). The attached photo shows each of the imaging units in the BLACK slot, printing the same page which is 10% black.
The 'streaks' all appear in the same location regardless of the imaing unit. NOTE: We used the cleaning rods on all four imaging units NOTE: I also ran the "REMOVE PRINT SMEARS" option at the printer control panel. Any suggestions or ideas are welcome. Thank you!

Thank you CherylO ! Following the steps: 1. Print the Troubleshooting Print Quality Page to Help Diagnose a Print Quality Problem I did this first and followed instructions to remove streaks, which printed out blank pages 2. Clean Each of the Four LEDs Yup! Did this several times. 3. Make Sure the Printer is Placed on a Flat, Hard, Level Surface Using a level, the printer is flat. 4. Print a Multiple Page Job With Only Blank Sheets of Paper to Clean the Paper Path Printed several blank sheets... 5. Remove Each Imaging Unit, Check for Damage, Re-install the Unit Not sure what to look for here, but I switched around the imaging units, and nothing changes with the streaks. That's all five suggestions, do I call customer support?
    Thanks for your help!

The Xerox Phaser 3124 printer will work with Leopard you have to download and install the

  • Xerox Phaser 6100 printer in Mountain Lion?

My migration from old hardware and OS 10.4 is almost complete but I have found no way to drive my Xerox Phaser 6100 printer.  Xerox recently (belatedly!) released a long list of Mountain Lion compatible drivers which were included in the latest system update.  However, although there were multiple Phaser 61XX drivers, 6100 was not one of them.
I really hate to scrap this useful machine.  Any ideas?

The latest Mountain Lion driver support begins with the Phaser 6130N. Tough break on the Phaser 6100.
Xerox has a page with links by operating system to PDF files containing all US Xerox printers compatible with the specific OS. There is a Mountain Lion link there.
If instead, you are wondering what supported non-Xerox printer to buy, look at the manufacturer specific driver updates on apple/support/downloads. Click the name of the driver update, rather than download it. You will see a link to a kb article that lists all currently supported printer models. For that manufacturer and other vendors.

  • Xerox Phase 6280DN printing does not work anymore over wifi network help

    Hello
I am having recurrent printing problems within a WIFI home office network. After power-cuts (which occur frequently here) I can not print anymore from any computer in the WIFI network on a Xerox Phaser 6280 DN.
The printer is seen in the printer list but after clicking print in the printer queue it says "looking for printer" and /or "printing". When I connect the printer directly to a Macbook Pro it will print. Today I have downloaded the latest version of the printer driver of beginning this year from the Xerox support site. However now I can not add the printer to the printer list because it does not show up as an option! I restarted the laptop but this does not help. I have also restarted the airport express and airport base station but no luck. I did so by unplugging and replugging.
The Phaser is connected to an Airport express which talks to an Airport base-station. OSX is 10.6.3. Thanks for any help it is driving me mad.

  • Printing collated adobe pdf's docs to a Xerox Phaser 6130n printer

I’m running into a very odd issue I hope you can help out with it. If I try to print a document from adobe reader XI or adobe creative cloud pro XI or adobe pro 9 to a phaser 6130n printer it will not collate. If I send a word document it works just fine. I’ve tried check the driver replacing the driver two different computers and still get the same results. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Transparency problem on Xerox Phaser 6280 printer

Using InDesign CS6 on Windows 7. On a page with a PNG image over a filled rectangle, the transparent part of the image is printed with a color shift. It’s slightly different from the rest of the filled rectangle. In this case the fill is light blue and the shift is a slightly darker blue.
    Fixes tried:
    - Color management off on printer. Same problem. I’ve left it off for all testing as recommended by ID.
    - Printing via pdf instead of directly from ID. Same problem. On the monitor there’s no color shift. That occurs only on the printed sheet. Used PrimoPDF.
    - Custom transparency flattener preset with no rasterization. This solves the color shift problem, but now text is slightly fuzzy, since it’s pixels instead of vectors. Very interestingly, the fill color is now all the same as the shifted color in the PNG transparency area. It appears that raster and non-raster areas sent to the printer with the same color in ID are getting printed with different colors. This could be a big clue. For all other testing, in Print, Advanced, Transparency Flattener, the Custom Medium option was used.
    - Fill the PNG image background in Photoshop CS5 with the same color as the filled rectangle. Still get the color shift – even though there is no longer any transparency! This of course is not an acceptable fix since it limits design options. In Photoshop tried color modes of RGB and CMYK.
    - ID and Photoshop color settings: North American General Purpose. They are synchronized.
    - In the print dialog, Color Management, Printer Profile. This was first Document RGB – Adobe RGB (a998). Tried the second option of Working RGB – xRGB IEC61966-21. Same problem. Normally use the first option.
    - In the print dialog, Output. Simulate Overprint was unchecked. Checked it. Same problem.
    - In InDesign, Edit, Transparency Blend Space, tried both RGB and CMYK.
I haven’t tried all possible permutations of the above, since the problem could have multiple causes.
Also tried a few other things, too many to remember.
I’m stumped and would appreciate some help. Thanks!
Otherwise ID is an excellent product.

The Yucky Discolored Box article was written in 2006. By now there must be a solution out there, but I can't figure it out because I'm not an ace on the many factors involved.....
The 6280 is no spring chicken, either, and was not exactly a high-end printer when it was new. It does waht it does as far as how it processes your file, and there's nothing you can do about that other than find a printer that doesn't use a "dual-layer" processor.
You do want to be a little careful about using Mike's font outlining suggestion. Up to CS4 (if memory serves) it was a very relaible method, but it depended on a bug in ID to outline all the type. That bug has been fixed and no type is only outlined when necessary, so you can end up with uneven-looking type in your PDF. See Possible bug: oulining text w/ flattener in CS5

  • Can't print over USB to Xerox Phaser 3450 using 10.4.9

I am using Mac OS Tiger 10.4.9 and have a Xerox Phaser 3450 printer connected to my Quicksilver G4 via USB.
When I try and print the job spools and the printer whirrs to life, the panel on the printer changes from Ready to saying Printing PS3, then the job ends. Nothing actually gets printed, the little print centre dialog that pops up in the Dock shows the job go from the queue to the completed jobs tab.
    Any ideas?

. . .Entering the thread in midstream--
What printer driver are you trying to use? I scoured the Xerox site for information on this printer. The manual indicates that it can use either PostScript or PCL6 as a printer language.
For PostScript, Xerox has PPDs for CUPS under the Unix drivers. These are in the form of a tarball. You can install the by using using a Control-click on the file and selecting to open with the BOMArchiveHelper or by using the Terminal. If using the Terminal, you can install the files directly by using the command --
    <pre style="font-family: 'Monaco', 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; overflow:auto; color: #000; background: #DDD; padding: 0.2em; font-size: 10px; width:400px">tar -C /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/en.lproj <pathToYourDownloadedFile></pre>
You could also try the Generic PCL6 driver that comes with the Gutenprint/Gimp-Print drivers which are probably already on your computer.
These drivers may not give you all the capabilities that you would have if Xerox updated their USB plug-in, but they should allow you to print. I see nothing in the literature that suggests that you cannot use the PostScript via USB. That is the default/stock interface for the printer.

  • Xerox Phaser 6110MFP doesn't work under OS 10.6

Having upgraded to Snow Leopard, I'm no longer able to print to my Xerox Phaser 6110MFP printer:
I'm informed that "The printer software was installed incorrectly. Please reinstall the printer’s software or contact the manufacturer for assistance."
Reinstallation of the latest version doesn't help. And Xerox' Technical Service throw up their hands and tell me that they know the problem but that they (Xerox) can't keep up with the speed with which Apple publish new versions of the Mac OS.
Seem like I have to buy another printer/scanner. It probably won't be a Xerox...

I'm informed that "The printer software was installed incorrectly. Please reinstall the printer’s software or contact the manufacturer for assistance."
This is an issue with permissions of the installed driver.
To correct the problem perform the following steps:
    1) Navigate to Applications > Utilities and open a Terminal window.
    2) Type the following command: sudo chown -R root:admin /Library/Printers/Xerox
    3) You will be prompted to enter your password.

  • Xerox Phaser 6110 Not working after lion

I've updated to Lion but i now cannot print on my networked Xerox Phaser 6100 printer. I know that previously i had to have rosetta installed as per the instuctions on Xerox website and everything worked fine. It's just since the update that it has stopped working. The print jonb goes into the queue as normal and just sits there without being printed. If i click on resume i get a message saying "/Library/Printers/Xerox/Phaser6110/rastertoxrx failed".
    Any ideas please?

I have the xerox phaser 8560:
    I also installed Lion at work here;
everything was working fine with the 1.2 driver under snow leopard.
After the lion install, pressing the print button didnt do anything (paused).
I then downloaded and installed the new xerox lion driver (2.09) which at the end of the installation process asks me to locate my printer which i did using its IP address.
Now, trying to print, it doesnt pause anymore, the print job does proceed to the queue, but i get the error 'printer out of ink', which is definately not the case as it printed fine under snow leopard.
Anyone know a solution/workaround for this?
    Thanks in advance!!!

  • Any way to use a Xerox Phaser 3124 in Leopard

Is it possible to Xerox Phaser 3124 printer in Mac OS X Leopard? I'm planning my transition to a Mac Mini but I'm not sure if my printer will work. Xerox website says it doesn't support Macs. I've only used my printer in Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux (using Samsung ML-1710 drivers). Browsing in Samsung website I've found ML-1710 drivers for OS X. I'm not sure if it would be as simple as in Linux to try to use ML-1710 drivers to make it work.
Any considerations? I would buy a new printer totally compatible with OS X if I could but right now this is out of question

The Xerox Phaser 3124 is a host based printer (specifications http://www.office.xerox.com/printers/laser-printers/phaser-3124/spec-enus.html). The Linux driver for the Samsung ML-1710 is the splix driver http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Samsung-ML-1710. Currently, there is no Mac OS X installer package for this driver. You would have to compile it from source code yourself.

  • Xerox Phaser 6110 and Snow Leopard

    Hi there,
    Please can somebody help?
I bought a new imac the other day and connected my three year old Xerox Phaser 6110 printer, and to my shock, it won't print.
Thanks to this forum, I found out that I'm not the only one with the same problem.
Now, I've read some of the topics on what to do, and I've tried two of them, but I still can't print. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
I went onto Xerox's website and followed their instructions - installed Rosetta, and got to a point where I couldn't continue. It said; "right click, and ...". I can't remember what it said I had to do, but, my mouse does not give me the option to 'right click', so I had to abort that method.
I then tried a method I found on here - inserted the Xerox driver disc again, loaded the driver, clicked on 'System Preferences' and 'Printers', and tried to add the printer again, but it wouldn't let me. Maybe I was doing it wrong?
    HELP!
I really don't want to go buy a new printer

    Ok,
I tried to reboot computer, connect the usb cable. Try an other usb cable but it's not working...
In my system profiler my printer is not appearing. I have this:
I tried to connect a usb key in my computer and its working... so usb port is ok :-)
Still not successful :-(... is it a problem if I have other printer install on this computer?
    Thank you!

  • Printing issues on network printer (Xerox Phaser 4500DT)

I need to be able to print to a network printer which is a Xerox Phaser 4500DT. It is simply networked from its IP address. I have the latest driver. Every time I try to print anything the job automatically goes on pause. If I click resume, it does print, but this takes time, every time I print. The URL is "pap://*/Phaser%204500DT/LaserWriter".
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Since upgrading to 10.5.6 I can no longer print multiple jobs to any of my Phaser 4500 machines(N/DT)? If the printer is clear, the job will spool and print.
If more than one job is sent or multiple users print at the same time, the local print queue is changed to 'PAUSE PRINTER' - I have tried printing via Appletalk, Bonjour & IP printing, the same problem occurs.
Why does 10.5.6 not allow you to spool and queue a print job any more? This is VERY frustrating in a busy office with multiple users attempting to print at the same time! - Any advice would be gratefully received!

  • Issue w/ Queues in Server 10.5.5, Xerox 7760s: They print, but offset

    A little background:
Currently we have a mix of 80 fully patched 10.4.11 and fully patched 10.5.5 clients printing directly to 4 identical Xerox Phaser 7760DXs via ipp. They work great. No problems with clients printing directly to the printer.
    -BUT-
For reasons beyond the scope of this post, we MUST move the clients to use server queues (PaperCut).
Server is now a clean test server running fully patched 10.5.5 OS X Server with just print services running.
We set up 4 queues the usual way, and then set clients to print to the named queues via LPR, designate the correct driver/ppds on the client.
The clients CAN print, however, out of every app we try, from TextEdit to Illustrator CS3 -anything-
the print outs are blown-up or offset really noticeably -
Say you set up Preview to
print a 7"X5" jpg to centered, on tabloid in landscape. Set the scale option to %100 (no scaling) and
it prints basically off center: up and to the left about 25% of the total page size- really off.
Again, not app related, textedit does this with a single word of centered text, photoshop CS 3, BBEdit, Firefox, etc every print, all print out offset more or less to the same degree, no matter how one sets them up.
Same clients, setups, but printing to the printer directly, rather than by the queues, in all the same apps, you never have this issue.
We did look at this as far as the pstop file version and 10.5.5:
