Xerox xa7-19i Monitor compatibility

Hi
I've been given a xerox xa7-19i flat screen monitor but can't get it working.
The Xerox site says it doesn not have Mac drivers. Please can you let me know if I can still use it?
When you turn it on the blue power light lights up and the screen lights very slightly. After a minute or so the light goes and the blue light starts flashing, like it isn't getting a signal. When I detect display it shows up and you can change the settings in the preferences, but the monitor doesn't show anything and still continues to flash the blue light.
Any ideas how I can get it to work?

The Xerox website specifies that it is compatible with a Mac, so you shouldn't be having any trouble getting it to work. It doesn't have any Mac drivers because you don't need any, it should be plug and play.
There are really only three things I can think of that would cause your monitor to not display picture. One would be that it is set to an unsupported resolution, which can be a very tricky fix if you are running it as a stand alone monitor. But it sounds to me like you are trying to run dual monitors, which can make things easier.
If you are trying to run dual monitors, I would first check if your graphics card can support dual displays. Find out which card you have and report it back here (go to system profiler->graphics). If it doesn't support dual displays, try hooking it up as the main display (unplug the other). If it does support dual displays, then the monitor is probably set to an unsupported resolution. An easy way to fix this is to set your main monitor to a resolution that you know is supported by both monitors. Set it to something common, like 1280x1024 @ 75 hz. After setting it, click the little box in the displays pane titled "mirror displays". This will cause both monitors to display the same picture. From there you can turn off mirroring and allow for an extended desktop.
The only other thing I can think of is that the monitor is damaged. But I'm sure you received it in working condition so probably not.
Let me know if that helps!

  • Mac mini works strange with Xerox XA7-19i LCD

    Hello!
I bought a brand new Mac mini and connected it to my Xerox XA7-19i LCD which works fine with my PC. It has cable with DVI connector, and cable is not removable (other side is built-in in LCD).
After I power-on Mac LCD just blinks and after few seconds monitor reports "No signal". After pluging-out and then pluging-in DVI cable, I get the picture. And I have to repeat that every time. I have also BootCamp with WinXP which boots just fine without re-pluging the cables. MacOSX also doesn't detect refresh rate of this LCD. In MacOSX it reports only 60Hz, while in WinXP it works at 75Hz.
I borrowed Dell LCD with VGA cable and it works fine in MacOSX and WinXP, so I'm pretty sure that the problem is about properly detecting Xerox LCD while booting MacOSX.
Does anybody know any drivers or something like that for Xerox LCD for MacOSX?

    Hello!
I found a "solution". It is not what a wanted but it is as closest I can get.
If I don't turn on monitor before I turn on Mac everything goes well.
So when I'm turning on Mac a wait for 15sec before I turn on the monitor. After logging, I change resolution to 1280x1024@76. Thing that I have to do before tuning off Mac mini is to set back resolution to 1024x768 or 1024x820 and turn off the monitor (don't leave monitor in standby).
If I want to change boot disk at booting time I have a problem, because after holding Option key it boots up in BootCamp and waits for boot disk selection. If I turn on monitor after 15sec the screen is black. Solution for this is that BootCamp always selects first MacOSX volume, so if I want to boot in MacOSX I have to just press Enter, if I want to boot WinXP I have to press Tab then Enter.
That is the only solution in which I don't have to plug out and back in DVI cable.
Is it possible to make some script which will change automatically resolutions on logging in and out?
    Thanks!

  • Xerox XA7-19i LCD display is still incompatible even with 10.4.8

I wrote a post around half year ago, but it was archived, so i open up a new thread since the problem is still unresolved.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=590802
    Just reminder...
I've discovered some strange behaviour of my core duo mac mini with Xerox XA7-19i LCD display. This display worked well with 10.4.5, but after my upgrade to 10.4.7 my screen was blank and only blinked a little bit after booting. The only way was to put into sleep mode with the power button, and wake up with the keyboard to get it work. It was disgusting so i reinstalled osx and upgrade only to 10.4.6. Now it works, but i cannot see the booting of my computer i onyl see a black blinking during the boot. After that when it booted up totally a get the desktop. It's now a little bit better, but still strange.
With 10.4.8 the problem is the same as with 10.4.7, so apple has not changed anything, despite of my bug report.
I hope sombody will read this problem, and may have a solution for that!

    Hi B4n4n;
If you feel that strongly about this question then talk to Apple. Here on this discussion you are talking to other Apple users like yourself. You can submit your feedback to Apple at OS X feedback.

If somebody has the opportunity to test this display with mac mini, or other intel based macs, please do it and report it here!!

I have a new Macbook and can't get this display to work at all ... unless I boot it up in Windows ... Tried all your tips but to no avail. Any help appreciated.

  • Problem with Xerox XA7-17i with a Macbook Intel ore duo

    Hi - please help
I have recently got a Xerox XA17-17i monitor to use as a second display for my new Macbook but it doesn't seem to receive any signal from the mac - the screen is blank and doesn't respond.
The Xerox works fine with my sons mac mini which has a DVI connection on the back which the Xerox plugs strait into.
On the Macbook I connected with a mini dvi to vga adapter that I already had plus a vga to DVI so to connect on to the DVI adapter from the monitor.
What is also strange is if I boot Windows XP sing bootcamp I get the initial XP starting screen with the blue dots starting then the screen goes blank on the macbook for a second and the Xerox goes dead.
I know that the macbook recognizes the monitor as when I gather the windows under screen preferences it shows one for the Xerox XA7-17i - also when mirroring is off the cursor can disappear off the side of the macbook screen as though it's going onto the Xerox but all is blank.
I've tried altering the screen resolution under Display on the macbook and both mirroring on and off but no joy -
    Please help!!

I have had the same problem with a Xerox XAP 192i. I am using bootcamp on the mackbook. The monitor works fine under Windows Vista. But I get the same problems as described before when I connect it under MacOS (using the VGA adapter).
I purchased the said adaptor but they are not compatible with the monitor as it has four extra pins around the big flat pin. Have you managed to find a compatible adaptor? I only tried the Apple shop in Regent Street.
Have you had more luck with it?
    Cheers,

  • Monitor compatibility

Good morning. Can anyone point me to a link on Apple's site for Mac mini monitor compatibility? I'm considering purchasing an Intel Mac mini because I have a monitor that is large and a little old but excellent. It's the ViewSonic CRT PS790 with a 15 pin mini Dhub VGA BNC connector. Will the DVI to ADC adapter work with this monitor?
    Thank you.

the 1.83 intel mini nicely handles my 22" Viewsonic LCD at 1650x1050.
I cannot imagine that it could not handle an older CRT at up to 1600x1200--though that might be high for that monitor, that's what my G3 can handle on an old "Sylvania" 19"although I usuall;y use 1024x968 simply so i can see what's being displayed<G>)
Push come to shove, Costco has 19" viewsonic LCD for less than $200

  • Sceptre monitor compatibility

I have been using my 19" Sceptre Monitor (X19GV-HDTV) off my MBP for a year and it works perfectly. I have since have tried to get it to work with two Mac Mini's, a 2012 model, and a 2010 model, and the monitor gives me the message "Unsupported Mode", after using every adapter and cable, i contacted Sceptre tec support, and now they are suggesting I get from Apple  "Monitor Compatibility". Does anyone know where i can find this?

    Hi Paul,
Both VGA & HDMI don't work?
Could the Mini's have been set to a higher resolution before attaching this Monitor?
If so try booting up holding the SHIFT key when it's connected.

  • Wierd monitor compatibility problem

    Hi all,
Got a wierd monitor compatibility problem. G3 works fine on a sony 21" CRT.
Connected it to a Daytec 15" CRT which works fine with a windows 98 PC.
With the G3 I get the apple and the spinning up logo then the screen just goes blank.
Is this monitor PC only or something? It is an old monitor but I thought any monitor should work
    if the vga connector fits?

So you are using this directly plugged into the stock Display card in a Blue & White G3 with NO adapter?
The Mac is probably still set for a higher resolution that the SONY can do, and has not noticed the display has changed.
Video pros says that Video can be plugged and unplugged all day long with no bad effects. If your old display is still around, try setting it to 640 by 480, save changes, and swap the other one in "live" at that resolution.
    Other tricks:
Reset the PRAM. This will send you back to a default setting while booting up, but may change when the system becomes active.
Boot from a CD. This ignores the settings on your Hard drive, and boots to a very simple resolution like 640 by 480 to ensure that Most Macs can start up with it.

  • Monitor Compatibility Question

I plan on purchasing a Mac Pro with the Radeon X1900 XT card in the near future. I have been shopping around for a good monitor, and the Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP (found here: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku= 320-4335) caught my eye. However, at the bottom of the tech specs, it lists only PC under "Compatibility." I know of other people who have used Dell monitors for their Macs, and this monitor does have DVI, so I don't see why it would not be compatible with the Mac Pro. Does anyone know definitively whether or not this monitor would work?

    Hello,
You should be just fine. The majority of monitors are listed as compatible with PC's only. The simple reason is that the manufacturers don't care to test them with Macs and have all their resources devoted to supporting what they know.
If they mentioned that it would work with a Mac, then they would be stuck trying to answer your questions on the phone if you needed help. Since they don't use Macs, and don't maintain a staff of Mac trained people, it is easier to just omit official support. That way they can just tell you that they don't support Macs and hang-up the phone.
I've been using PC monitors with my Macs since before Apple even supported PC monitors at all (you used to have to buy monitors with Apple specific cables). I would just use an adapter to convert the PC connector to connect to the Mac video port.
In all my years, I've never found a PC monitor that would not work with my Mac. And, that still holds true today. I've used several low-end monitors with my current machines, and all work fine.
I've even got a bargain basement DVI monitor connected right-now, and it works perfectly.
Basically, if you want official support and a guarantee, then buy a monitor that specifically lists Mac compatibility.
But, if you are willing to accept that their phone support will avoid helping you, then go with any brand you like.
Understand that Dell is primarily interested in selling and supporting Dell computers. They have no interest in fielding calls from Mac users because they are not going to be familiar with OS X. Naturally, they will list PC compatibility because they know Windows very well.
But, you should also understand that the only difference between an Intel-based Mac and an Windows PC, is that the Intel-based Mac can also run OS X. Otherwise, they are just different brands of computers that use pretty much the same hardware.
    I hope this helps.

  • Monitor compatability g3 266 mt

I need to buy a new monitor for my g3 266 mt. I'm running os 8.6. How do I find monitors that are compatable with this older model? What do Iook for, and what do I say to a sales person?

    Alan,
Thanx 4 the quick response. Profiler gave no indication of video ram to the card in C1 and it only shows 640 x 480 @ millions, 2 meg to the primary card in slot P1 (or was that F1?). I do not mind the lower resolution for some tasks but It seems to me that the Sony Trinitron monitor should be multi sync.
"leaves the extra ones hanging in mid-air" is what I was thinking but had not checked the glossary yet. I am so old school that I still work with the nubus cards in post Mac II machines Grant refers to frequently. I can now afford my first dream machine, a IIci with a portrait monitor connected to the onboard video and a nubus color card for a color monitor on the side. Hot stuff and $10,000 in 1988! lol
I still use a Quad 700 with a nubus video card, and a 20" super sharp B&W monitor for drafting real estate documents and deeds as my primary work machine. That setup with Filemaker Pro 2.1 has earned me more money than any newer machine! Nothing beets video real estate.
Time for me to update to PCI. I remember when Psyko had the only PCI computer in the house!

Weather is too nice today to spend more research time indoors after yesterday's snow. Other cards and other questions will have to wait. Thanx again.

  • X1 and USB monitor compatibility

Hello! I can't connect Thinkpad X1 (1294-2NG) to a monitor L2230XWa (5453-HB1) via USB interface. It does not matter I use USB2.0 or USB3.0. Any time when Windows 7(64bit) starts to recognize a monitor it reports a signal lost and computer hangs with fan running on high speed. Does anybody know is this configuration compatible at all?

    hey Atterdag,
with regards to this, could you uninstall the current display drivers for your X1 then plugin the L2230 .
Let windows install its generic drivers and then try the monitor again. If it works, go to http://support.lenovo.com and reinstall the display driver of yout X1.

  • Apple MiniDisplayPort to DVI-D 2560x1600 Monitor Compatibility

    Hi all,
I just purchased a DoubleSight DS-305W 30" display only to learn it doesn't work with the Apple MiniDisplayPort to Dual DVI adapter. I had the flickering issues described in length here:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB571Z/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
I thought it was the adapter firmware issue, so I drove 3 hours in the snow to the Apple store to get a replacement with the new firmware (1.0.3). After doing so, the issues persisted.
I am now wondering if anybody has experience with other 2560x1600 monitors and this adapter. I am considering buying a NEC LCD3090WQXi-BK -- has anybody tried this one? Thanks in advance.

Not that I have seen. My new WS monitor came with the vga cable and also a DVI cable. So I didn't have to buy anything extra to have DVI out. I could choose whichever one I wanted.

  • A1081 Cinema Display LCD Monitor compatibility

I am about to buy a reconditioned A1081 Cinema Display LCD Monitor 20"? But i need to know if it will work with my MacBook Pro 10.5.8 and my ipad 2? As i am buying it to use at an exhibition. iIf so what adaptor will i need to hook both of these up? Thank you in advance.

Are you sure the monitor is set to receive input over the VGA input? Have you tried the DVI input on the monitor? You may have better luck with DVI.

  • Bootcamp mini-DVI second monitor compatibility?

Hi, I am planning to buying an iMac 20-inch, 2.4GHz (Intel). I want to attach another 20-inch monitor via the mini-DVI port. This should be no problem as long as I stay in Max OSX (Leopard).
BUT my question for help is if I (need to) boot up in Windows, can I access both monitors through the mini-DVI out-port and Bootcamp? Has anyone tried? I want to run Windows and use both monitors... Any limits to what I can do? (resolution and such)
Thanks, hope you understand my question...
    /P

BUMP! I'm having an issue with this also. Just installed bootcamp 2.1 with XP SP3 and I can't get anything to display on my second monitor (Mini-DVI to HDMI). It just stays blank.
Windows recognizes it in display settings but no matter what I do it stays blank. Kind of a bummer for not being able to watch the Celtics playoffs streaming...
Anyways.. any help would be appreciated.
