Xf-i / dtt3500 / 4 pole minij

Hi
i've been reading a lot about how the dtt3500 doesnt work with the xf-i and the digital din but what about that 4 pole minijack.
I want to get that xfi fatality thing but i'd rather not give up this dtt3500.
Right now im using the 4 pole for gaming and optical for dvd's or ac3 audio and occasionally some other devices with optical out.
What are my options withouth modding my dtt3500 and wanting to keep good (digital) audio.
Using an analog -> digital converter towards the speakers is just plain silly and isnt an option.

btw it did only come up with 2. speakers when the first wizard showed up.
I selected those and changed it in the startup console.
and it broke after i switched audio modus from entertainment to gamingMessage Edited by Conz on 2-24-2005 2:39 AM

  • 4 Pole mini plug to 9 pin Mini DIN Adpater cable in Australia?

I have been trying to contact Creative Labs Australia about this particular adpater cable but i am only getting a reply saying that, only the manager knows about it so i have been leaving messages for him to contact me for the last 4 days!!!!!!!!!!!
Does anybody know where i can buy this cable in Australia? Creative part number is CB2032000002.
This cable is used to connect the Audigy2 Platinum Ex I/O Module to either DTT2500 or DTT3500 speakers using the the DIN connector. As the I/O Module doesn't have the DIN output i will need to use the 4 pole 3.5mm miniplug to be converted into 9 pin mini DIN.
Desperetely seeking this product. Can anyone help me please

If it makes you feel any better theres no where to buy this cable in the States either. Theres only 2 places I've found so far that sells this cable. One is creative which currently lists it as "out of stock" and this place:
    http://www.globalsources.com/gsol/I/Mini-DIN-Plug/p/2000000003844/30000004968/bg/006604.htm
Only problem with that site is that it only sells the cable in lots of 3000, so you have to buy 3000 of them. If anyone knows of a place to get this cable please let me know as well.

  • Please help me regarding the law and telephone pol...

Hi guys this is my first post but I've been suffering for a few weeks with this matter and need some help from those in the know...
I had a new line put in to the house which is about 1m from the middle of the pair of semi detatched where I live.
The cable travels over my next door neighbours garden to the pole on the other side of the street at around 45 degrees.
They can open all the windows etc, it's over 3m high and doesn't pass over any buildings, but they have complained about the installation. I have had 3 or so visits from BT engineers who seem to want to move heaven and earth to keep my neighbour happy but don't seem so concerned with my opinion and I really don't want to move the cable to the other side of the house as all my cables enter on the same side and I don't want trailing wires across the render (plus it's not the point as theres a history between us).
I had another visit today saying that they are now looking at possibly installing a new pole outside my house for the cable which in my view is insane as there is another one about 10m away and I already have a bus stop outside my property.
Can anyone please help me to understand and advise on:
    1. Where I stand in terms of having to move the cable.
    2. If I have any grounds to object and prevent a new pole being sited outide my house (if he wants it outside the next door thats up to him).
    3. Whether I can say even if a new pole is installed that I can still insist the cable remains in the original position.
    4. Any other advice on how to make this harrassement stop without giving in to his bullying.
If anyone has any help/guidance/legislation to offer I'd really appreciate it as it's really upsetting both me and my elderly mother who I live with.
    Thanks guys.

    Hi Pete.
Not sure about existing cables, but i am sure they would need your neighbours permission to cross over his land.
Michael (ypt) might come in here. he lives about 30ft from his nearest pole(second house away) Apparantly the original neighbour on the new builds gets his line from this pole but refused permission for the cable to go over his land to others, so for his property (about 30ft from the pole) it goes across the road to another pole, then down the road for about 100ft to another pole, and from there goes back across the road to his house.
    Stupid I know.

  • Audigy 4 + DTT3500 doubts about how to conn

I have an Audigy 4 and an old DTT3500 Digital 5. (old but still very good, no reason to buy a new set, is also a Dolby Digital decoder). The DTT3500 accepts optical, coax, digital din and as 'line in' only front and rear (no center).
Ok, so previously I had a Audigy (and Audigy 2) and I both connected those using the digital din. With this, I got full 5. surround in games and when playing DVD the digital sound was send through the decoder and got decoded by the amplifier.
Now with the Audigy 4 I am confused. I have bought a new product but it seems I have _LESS_ features? As I understand it I have to connect the analog out's of my Audigy 4 to my DTT3500 for games (and miss the center channel because my DTT3500 doesn't have an analag-in for center). I also have to connect the digital out to my DTT3500 in case I want to play a DVD movie and use the DTT3500 decoder to get full 5. DVD sound.
It seems there is no way anymore that I can have 5. sound in games? So, I'm wondering if there is a way that I can make my own 'custom cable' which has a digital din on one end (for in my DTT3500) and at the other end is a combination of different outputs of the Audigy4. Is that possible?
Also, I don't like that now when I have to switch between headphone and speakers I have to unplug the front DTT3500 plug and switch it with my headphones. I very often change between headphones and speakers (for online gaming matches I use headphones, also at night, but for the rest I use my speakers).
Any advice for the most elegant solution? Or I'll just have to li've with it ... maybe switch my Audigy 4 back for an Audigy 2 (which is in an older computer that I still have).

It seems, you can connect Audigy 4 Pro to RXV least through coaxial.
You can download the manual for RXV-357 from Yamaha.
Here is also a picture of connectivity.

  • Dtt3500 and Audigy Gamer, digital output only 2 channel unless its D

Ok I recieved a response concerning my last comment but unfortunatly it did not answer my question at all. I have a DTT3500 and a sound blaster Audigy Gamer hooked up with the digital out to the /8 din adapter. I try the advanced 3d demo that came with the Audigy software and I only hear the front 2 channels, no center and no rears. The demo where you move the little icons and sound moves along with it. I have 5. activated in my windows control center along with audioHQ and digital out only is selected. my DTT3500 has 4./5. digital selected along with dolby digital/pcm audio and digital in. I am not getting the effect of multisurround at all. My center works and my rears work because playing music I can use all 5 speakers. When I use the analogue outputs I hear multisurround from the advanced 3d demo but my center doesnt work. The analogue setup sounds better but without a center channel its useless to me. Am I doing something wrong? I am using the adapter and digital DIN, what gives? The only reason I noticed I wasnt getting surround was while playing games nothing comes from behind you even on 5. games. The goldmine demo doesnt even work right, when the bird flys behind you it disappears but there is still sound from the rears. Analogue fixes this without a center but the manual and setup say to use the digital din. Do I just have a setting wrong? I would like to experiance the full capacity of multispeakers in my games.

    Dennis,
With these speakers the connection that I would suggest would be to use the Digital out on the back of the sound card into the DIN Input on the DTT3500's. This will require a converter cable for /8'' Minidin to standard DIN which can be purchased from here:
    http://us.creative.com/products/prod...0&product=0375
You will also need a standard DIN cable (one should have shipped with your DTT3500's).
This should give you 5. with digital output only enabled on the Audigy.

[POL-4008] null buffer for attribute is not allowed

I am not sure what that means exactly. Does that mean there is some problem with the commit?

  • Windows 7 / Server 2003 Roaming profile synchronization error at logoff (ntuser.pol)

    Hi all,
I have implemented Roaming Profiles for a few test users on Windows 7 PC's (Windows Server 2003) and everything is working well aside from one error I'm seeing at logoff ('Your roaming user profile was not completely synchronized.  See the event log
for details or contact your administrator.')
The event log reveals event ID's 1504 and 1509.  1504 is flagging the fact that Windows cannot update the roaming profile completely.  1509 shows the following:
'Windows cannot copy file C:\Users\jtest\ntuser.pol to location \\server\Profiles$\jtest.V2\ntuser.pol.  This error may be caused by network problems or insufficient security rights.
DETAIL - Cannot create a file when that file already exists.
    Other observations:
This issue occurs with all test users upon each logoff attempt except for the very first logoff, where there is no network share copy of ntuser.pol to get in the way.
Prior to logoff, the network share copy of ntuser.pol has an older timestamp than the local copy.  This is not a cause or symptom but it leads me to believe updating the network copy of the file at logoff is normal/required behavior.
If I delete the network share copy of ntuser.pol prior to logoff the error does not occur.  I don't suspect file permissions are the cause since I used the same user having difficulty logging off to delete the network share copy of the file.
ntuser.dat has no problem overwriting itself upon logoff.
I was able to repeat the problem with two windows 7 clients.
I've been all over the usual suspects (i.e. group policies affecting roaming profiles, file/folder permissions, installed every hotfix relating to roaming profiles and folder redirection, and googled every keyword) and came up empty.  I confirmed offline
caching for the profile share is disabled.
Does anyone know what may be going on here?  I'd greatly appreciate a point in the right direction.  Thanks in advance.

You could too run a process monitor to watch what happen. With filter you can easilly configure it on the server to not log everything except read|write on the profile.

  • I recently received a pop up from 'euro-pol' asking me to pay money to unlock my safari.

I recently received a pop up from 'euro-pol' asking me to pay money to unlock my safari. I searched google on another computer and found it is quite a common malware issue. I found instructions of unlocking safari by resetting safari completely. Safari now works fine but I am frightened as I had student finance a banking details on my history etc. should I reformat and restore from backup? I am running mountain lion. I do have a windows partition, would this affect this? Should I not worry or what should I do? Please help...

This is not any kind of malware, it is purely a fraudulent javascript-based "scare tactic" which fools people into giving away their money. It stores nothing on your computer, nor does it have any access to your files or personal information.
As you've found, quitting Safari and restarting it with no windows open (hold down Shift as you launch it) will avoid reloading it.
So you have nothing to worry about in this regard.

  • 4-pole Minijack-toRCA? (Digitally connect Audigy 2 SZ to Inspire 5500 speakerset)

    Hello forum/Creative,
After searching and searching, I'm just confused. And I'm quite an audiophile and I know quite a lot about cable and connections. I still have a problem getting (Dolby) Digital from my Audigy 2 SZ card, to my Creative 5500 (Digital) speakerset. There's a couple "paradoxes" if you will so I hope someone (of Creative) can explain this to me.Because my situation is different than everything I read before. Now the "problem" is that the 5500 digital speakerset uses an external Dolby Digital decoder that is connected to the subwoofer by a DIN-to-DIN cable. Then there are the 3 minijacks (output) that connect from the decoder to the sub. (This also enable volume control per channel via the external decoder/remote) Then there's a coaxial (digital) input that goes from the decoder to any digital out source, which at first was at the coaxial out of my DVD player, which gave the Dolby Digital 5. channel sound as it should. No problem so far.But then I bought an Audigy 2 SZ card for my pc and the problems is that the Digital Out of this card is not a coaxial one, but a minijack output.Strangly however, the 5500 speakerset includes a minijack-to-rca cable, so I can connect the coaxial input on the decoder to the minijack digital out of the Audigy 2 SZ card. Then I got just front L/R channels. I realized the included cable was a 2-pole minijack, with one ground connection and audiostream (Front L/R) What I need is a 4-pole Minijack-to-RCA (. ground 2. Front L/R 3. Rear L/R 4. Sub/Center) , but I dumbfounded so far and I wonder if this cable even exists. After looking in the manuel again and checking the Creative forum and other audiofora, all I can see is a 4-pole minijack-to-DIN (digital din)Here'smy problem with that:st of all my external decoder is connected to the subwoofer via a DIN-to-DIN cable. So if I would get that 4pole Minijack-to-RCA my external decoder becomes nothing more then a nice piece of decoration. Since power from the sub goes to this decoder via the DIN cable (do I wonder if it's a Digital DIN at all)But since this decoder is also used to control volume (per channel) and has the infrared remote receiver + Dynamic Mode setting which can only be set via the remote, I would loose all these functions?I know the Audigy 2 SZ has it's own Dolby Digital (EX), DTS (ES) etc, but I don't want the soundcard output alone and not use the external decoder (again, since this decoder does more than just decode alone). Now a 4-pole Minijack-to-RCA would solve all these problems and I REALLY hope these exists. (Should be possible at least).Currently I have unplugged the 3 minijacks-to-minijacks from the external decoder and plugged them into my Audigy 2 SZ card for Analog Surround. But it doesn't sound good (well at least compared to real Dolby Digital) and via this setup I lost volume control (per channel) functionallity of the external decoder. So please help me out on this. I would really appreciate it.Regards,Felix.

P.S. The 4pole Minijack-to-RCA I mention is a female RCA connector to accept the male-to-male coaxial RCA cable. I also noticed the Audigy 2SZ Quick start manual states to hook up 5. digital speakers to use a 4pole minijack-to-4pole minijack, but this is impossible since there is only a coaxial input and minijack output. So a minijack-to-minijack cable is completely wrong. After (again) checking my Inspire 5500 user's guide, I noticed ONLY THIS manual has the ONLY correct solution to hook up the set. The aformentioned 4pole minijack-to-RCA (female).Creative, why do you supply a useless 2-pole minijack-to-RCA for the digital connection of the Inspire Dolby Digital 5500 speakerset instead of the 4pole one?I mean, you buy the Dolby Digital set to get real Dolby Digital sound, but to get that from your own Audigy (2 SZ) card, you need another cable!! (and when you get it, the other cable will never be used for anything else, since it can only transfer the Front L/R signal!!

  • Does 2012 iMac support "4-pole (TRRS)"? *Audio related

I don't completely understand what "4-pole (TRRS)" is, so it would be better if I explained what I am wanting to do...
I'm looking to possibly get an Astro Gaming A30 headset to use with both my iMac and PS3. Normally, on a PC the A30 would connect via their "quick connect" cable to the PC's headphone and mic inputs, but since the 2012 iMac does not have a mic input, I asked Astro Gaming if there was another solution.
Below is my question to them and their response.
ME: I was looking into getting the A30s for mt iMac and PS3. I like the idea of the quick connect cable and was planning on having the mix amp plugged into my PS3 and when using the A30s with my iMac i could use them via the quick connect cable. However, the 2012 iMac does not come with a mic input... Is there a quick connect cable for usb instead? If not, what are my options?
ASTRO: Most iMac's feature a combined 4-pole (TRRS) connector which uses a single port instead of a seperate port for the audio and microphone. If yours features this (Apple support can verify), then you can connect the A30 Headset directly into the iMac and both the audio and microphone work correctly.
The A30 Headset features a single 3.5mm connector (TRRS) although we also include a PC Splitter which splits it into two separate connectors if needed which normally isn't for Mac's.

I think I was able to solve this myself... Once I got home I decided to test this with my iPhone 5 Earpods. I plugged them in and covered the iMac mic with tape. Covering the mic with tape turned out to be unecessary because once I plugged in the Earpods the "Input" device in the Sound settings changed from "Internal microphone" to "External microphone". I went on to test it by whispering directly into the Earpod mic and it registered on the input level. I then launched Ventrilo and confirmed that people were able to hear me.
I would like to see it documented somewhere, but my "test results" will have to do.

A lot has to to be said for the good old BT-Poles. The one outside my house has stood there for longer than I care to remember.

Can anyone enlighten me what could go wrong?

This is a known bug. It will be fixed soon, current work around is that you don't use the default repository that comes with the OMWB. Try to connect to a existing Oracle db for repository. We'll also notify you here when the bug is fixed.

  • How can I get rid of telephone poles?

I take lots of pictures of buildings in urban settings. Quite often, I take a shot against a blue sky, and there is no way to frame or crop the picture to avoid having things like telephone poles or street lights in the photo.
I can use the retouch tool to "erase" telephone wires, but anything thicker than that leaves a smudge on the photo. The problem is especially acute when the object is close to trees or other non-sky elements because it's almost impossible to avoid the dark color of the trees.
The ideal solution would be to be able to copy a section of nearby sky and paste it over the offending object, but if there's a way to do that in iPhoto, I haven't found it.
I am strictly an amateur, so buying and learning PhotoShop is not an option. I've tried Picasa and a couple of other free editors, but none seem to do more than iPhoto. I've also downloaded GIMP, but I must admit that I haven't been able to master the interface.
    Any ideas?

You can't do this in iPhoto. You will need an external editor for the job.
In order of price here are some suggestions:
    Seashore (free)
    _[The Gimp|http://www.gimp.org/macintosh>_ also free
    Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
    Acorn ($50 approx)
    [Pixelmator|http://www.pixelmator.com> ($60 approx.)
    Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
Do a search in Google for for tutorials based on whatever one you try. There is a wealth of help on sites like You Tube. For instance I search You Tube with "Gimp Tutorial" and found this
