Xfce 4.8 - xfce4-mailwatch-plugin

xfce4-mailwatch-plugin doesn't work. The panel is unable to run the plugin ...
it's only my problem?
Bye

/usr/lib/xfce4/panel-plugins/xfce4-mailwatch-plugin: error while loading shared libraries: libxfce4panel.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
xfce4-panel-Message: Plugin mailwatch-13 has been automatically restarted after crash.
/usr/lib/xfce4/panel-plugins/xfce4-mailwatch-plugin: error while loading shared libraries: libxfce4panel.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Same for me Ugaciaka.
# locate libxfce4panel
/usr/lib/libxfce4panel-1.0.so
/usr/lib/libxfce4panel-1.0.so.3
/usr/lib/libxfce4panel-1.0.so.3.0.0
/usr/lib/pkgconfig/libxfce4panel-1.0.pc
So what I will do, is symlink a link to that current libxfce4panel and see if that works.

  • [SOLVED] XFCE 4.8 mail watch plugin problem

Hi. It seems like xfce4-mailwatch-plugin doesn't save the settings between the reboots. I was looking around a bit and checked file permissions in ~/.config/xfce4/panel and it seems mailwatch-18.rc somehow got wrong permissions between reboots:
    -rw------- 1 root root 415 Aug 7 16:25 mailwatch-18.rc
I set the right owner and am about to reboot to see if it will happen again. Does anyone have the same problem? Do you know what is causing it?
If it's not something Arch related, I will post a bug report on the mainstream XFCE bugzilla, but have to be sure first.

After changing the permissions, settings file got erased. But I entered the data again, tried rebooting, logging off and on, and it seems it's ok now.
I checked the list of files contained in the package and I don't see anything suspicious:

  • [SOLVED]xfce4-topmenu-plugin-git, nothing happens except with firefox

    Hello guys,
I just installed xfce4-topmenu-plugin-git from the AUR, and also other topmenu utilities (optional dependencies) :
    pacman -Qs topmenu
    local/topmenu-gtk-git 2015.03.22-1
A standalone global menu bar for Gtk+ 2.0 based desktop environments.
    local/topmenu-gtk3-git 2015.03.22-1
A standalone global menu bar for Gtk+ 2.0 based desktop environments.
    local/topmenu-mozilla-git 2015.01.21-2
    Firefox/Thunderbird Javascript module for TopMenu.
    local/xfce4-topmenu-plugin-git 2015.03.22-1
A standalone global menu bar for Gtk+ 2.0 based desktop environments.
I added the plugin to my xfce panel, and after reboot :
    - when I launch any application nothing happens in the panel
    - when I launch firefox, it works : the firefox menu appears on the xfce panel plugin
I'm not shure this is the right place to ask, but at least, is there somebody here with the same problem?
Is somebody getting the plugin to work? (just to know if this is a global or particular issue...)
    Thanks!
ps : I'm up to date (xfce4.12 etc...)

Solution by the maintener of the package :
You need to ensure the Gtk+ module topmenu-gtk-moduleis loaded. A simple way to do this is to create a .gtkrc-2.0 file in your $HOME with the following contents:
    gtk-modules = "canberra-gtk-module:topmenu-gtk-module"
    or put GTK_MODULES="topmenu-gtk-module:canberra-gtk-module" in your ~/.xprofile or ~/.xinitrc .
    It worked for me
    (But not with libreoffice)

  • [SOLVED] xfce4-genmon-plugin

This plugin is not currently working in xfce 4.8 and seems not to be part of the official xfce release (it is from goodies.xfce.org). Does somebody know some other alternative for this task?
Last edited by cgarcia (2011-01-20 19:22:06)

I have finally managed to get genmon applet working again. It needs to be recompiled with a tiny patch. I have not build an AUR package because this will likely be fixed soon. For anybody wanting to make genmon workable in XFCE 4.8, these were my steps (maybe you could need to install some other additional dependence):
    ~# pacman -S git xfce4-dev-tools gettext
    ~$ cd tmp
    ~/tmp$ git clone git://git.xfce.org/panel-plugins/xfce4-genmon-plugin
    ~/tmp$ cd xfce4-genmon-plugin/
    ~/tmp/xfce4-genmon-plugin$ wget -O thepatch "http://bugzilla.xfce.org/attachment.cgi?id=3064"
    ~/tmp/xfce4-genmon-plugin$ patch -p1 < thepatch
    ~/tmp/xfce4-genmon-plugin$ ./autogen.sh
At this point configure will likely be automatically run by autogen. Then compile with make and use the new built plugin to replace the non working one:
    ~/tmp/xfce4-genmon-plugin$ make
    ~/tmp/xfce4-genmon-plugin$ su
    ~/tmp/xfce4-genmon-plugin# cat panel-plugin/xfce4-genmon-plugin  > /usr/lib/xfce4/panel-plugins/xfce4-genmon-plugin

  • Installing xfce4-xfapplet-plugin-0.1.0

    Hi guys,
A few days ago, I started with Arch Linux to learn how Linux works. Beating my way through Google and Arch Website, I got Wireless Network, XFCE4 and some other nice services going, but this just won't work:
I'd like to install xfce4-xfapplet-plugin-0.1.0. Pacman doesn't find anything, the package is not in abs (should be in XFCE goodies, but it's not), and when I try to install via tarball, .configure returns after a while of running around:
    checking for libpanelapplet-2.0 >= 2.0.0... not found
*** The required package libpanelapplet-2.0 was not found on your system.
*** Please install libpanelapplet-2.0 (atleast version 2.0.0) or adjust
*** the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
*** installed the package in a nonstandard prefix so that
*** pkg-config is able to find it.
I couldn't find any help on that online. Does anybody know what's wrong?
    Cheers,
    Kalsan

You're in for some work here. You could conceivably make this work with mate-panel which is a fork of gnome 2, but the paths are different and you'd need to write that into the pkgbuild to build it.
I think if you search for mate xfce and gnome panel you might find some pointers to get you started. But I think you are better off looking for substitutes.

    xfce4-quicklauncher-plugin: Screenshot

Xfce4-goodies does exist; xfce4-xfapplet-plugin is included, but has large GNOME dependencies I don't want, so I want to exclude that from the installation. The command you gave me will only install xfapplet, which is the opposite of what I want. Thanks for posting though.

Thanks for great hint! I did an upgrade of glibc as well, just could not remember it :-) Now we can suspect locale settings is somehow messed in newest glibc and newest xserver can't handle it. I'll try to find some info about it when I come back since right now I've gotta go.

  • Issue with xfce4-dict-plugin from current

    pacman -S xfce4-goodies
    error: unresolvable dependencies:
xfce4-dict-plugin: requires xfce4-panel>=4.40 but it is not in the sync db
Now, the .PKGINFO contains depend = xfce4-panel>=4.4.0 and the entire xfce4 group is installed from the archlinux.org mirror.. I'm in the dark here.
    Cheers.

    It's fixed in xfce4-dict-plugin 0.2.1-2

  • Too many deps while trying to remove xfce4-xfapplet-plugin - normal?

I noticed that pacgraph -c shows that xfce4-xfapplet-plugin is taking up 119 MB of space.  When I look it up, I see that it only allows gnome applets to run which I don't care about (http://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra … et-plugin/).  When I queue up the recursive removal of it via a pacman -Rs xfce4-xfapplet-plugin there are a bunch of packages that I wouldn't expect to be in the list:
    # pacman -Rs xfce4-xfapplet-plugin
    checking dependencies...
    Remove (27): xfce4-xfapplet-plugin-0.1.0-6 gnome-panel-2.30.0-1 libcanberra-0.23-1 libbonoboui-2.24.3-1 libgnomecanvas-2.30.1-1

    Total Removed Size: 119.36 MB
Do you want to remove these packages? [Y/n] n
I don't believe it's safe to remove some of these like fuse for example.  Also, why would lsof be in the list?

Those packages are either direct dependencies of xfce4-xfapplet-plugin or in a chain of dependencies.
For example lsof is required by udisks which is required by gnome-disk-utility which is required by gvfs which is required by libgnome which is required by libbonoboui which is required by gnome-panel which is required by xfce4-xfapplet-plugin.

  • XFCE4 systemload plugin doesn't show graphs.

    Hello,
I just installed the xfce4-systemload-plugin, which is supposed to show me a nice little bar/graph showing me how much RAM / CPU I'm using at the time. The plugin does show, but I don't see anything in the graphs/bar. When I hover my mouse over it, I do get the correct output; it's just the graphs that show nothing.
    Anyone on a possible fix?

I know this thread is old, but could you please post the solution for this issue?
    Having installed:
    yaourt -Qs hddtemp
    extra/hddtemp 0.3.beta15.45-2
    yaourt -Qs xfce4-sensors-plugin
    extra/xfce4-sensors-plugin 0.10.99.6-2 (xfce4-goodies)
    ps aux | grep hddtemp
    root 9355 0.0 0.0 5968 952 ? S 16:04 0:00 hddtemp -d /dev/sda
    cat /etc/conf.d/hddtemp
    PARAMS="-q -l 127.0.0.1"
    DRIVES="/dev/sda"
Also hddtemp can read my temperatures:
    hddtemp /dev/sda
    /dev/sda: WDC WD3200AAKS-00L9A0: 32°C
    Suid-Bit is set
    ls -l /usr/sbin/hddtemp

  • Xfce4-screenshooter-plugin has no icons

    Hi,
I installed xfce4-screenshooter-plugin and there are no icon(s) in the package.
I looked at the filelists of some other xfce4-panel-plugin packages and they have icons.
I also looked at the homepage, but the screenshooter-plugin is not listed
Any ideas how to get the icon?

    does  not work.
I guess the problem is that  the xfce4-screenshooter-plugin package contains no icons at all.
    edit:
hmm, after executing "gtk-update-icon-cache -f -t /usr/share/icons/hicolor/" as root some of my icons from tango-icon.-theme are broken. E.g. *.zip *.avi ect...
    Reinstalling tango-icon-theme had no effect...
