Xfce menu missing icons

Topic says it all, here's a screenshot.  Thoughts on how to fix it are welcomed

I believe that what you may want as a quick fix is to do 'pacman -S tango-icon-theme tango-icon-theme-extras gnome-icon-theme'.
These packages provide all the icons you need for the menus and system icons, just tango-icon-theme would do (and that was the fix pointed out when this version of xfce came out) but there would be one or two missing icons here and there.
I had the same problem last night. The xfce4 wiki said to do ^, and that's what worked for me.

    Hello,

can find nothing under the tools menu for private browsing?
Then it's not the same issue.
If Firefox is set to '''Never remember history''', then you're in “permanent private browsing” mode, in which case the menu item ''Stop Private Browsing'' will be grayed out. Perhaps that's the case, and you don't find the menu item easy to see?
    * [[Settings for privacy, browsing history and do-not-track]]
If that's not the case, then menu items can be hidden using the userChrome.css file. Check if it exists, and if it's there, rename it, then restart Firefox.

In Firefox Nightly (what will become Firefox 20), per-window private browsing has been added, so the menu item under the Tools menu is gone. It's been replaced by New Private Window under the File menu. I don't suppose it's very likely that you're using such a cutting-edge test version of Firefox though.
If that doesn't solve the problem, since it's a different issue, it would be best if you would ask a new question.

  • Menu bar icons / clock (all but spotlight) are missing from menu bar

I started woke my MacBook up from sleeping for a few days this morning and everything ordinarily on the right side of the menu bar save the spotlight menu has disappeared.
I used to have a displays icon/menu, battery icon, network icon/menu, and clock displayed on the right side of the menu bar and they are now gone. If I go into the control panels for display, time, etc., to re-enable the menu bar icons, I can check the check box to display icon in menu bar, but the settings won't save! (Whenever I go back into the settings panel after making the change, the changes are reverted!)
Its getting pretty frustrating. Anyone have any ideas please?

    Hello OCMacMerlin
If the OnyX Rebuild services didn't or won't fix it, then have a look at the following:

  • [Xfce] Missing icons after upgrade

    Hello,
I'm experiencing problem with missing icons from xfce: clipboard manager, default web browser icon, folder icon, disc icon, local area network icon, zoom icons etc. I can't see them while using Oxygen style (which I want to use) but they appear in GNOME or HighContrast icon themes. I'm changing icon themes via Xfce's settings manager. I have 2 Oxygen positions there but it always was like that. In some applications the icons are just missing, but in some they appear as blank sheets of paper with red crossed circle.
    It worked before the update:

    [2013-10-11 22:43] [PACMAN] Running 'pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/gnome-themes-standard-3.8.4-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz'
    [2013-10-11 22:43] [PACMAN] downgraded gnome-themes-standard (3.10.0-1 -> 3.8.4-1)
    Then I installed
    [2013-10-11 22:46] [PACMAN] Running 'pacman -S gnome-icon-theme gnome-icon-theme-extras gnome-icon-theme-symbolic'
Then I rebooted. Then I tried to change again icon themes within xfce's settings manager.
    None of this helped.

I'm running standalone Openbox and am also recently missing some icons. I haven't tried all the suggested solutions yet, but downgrading to gtk2-2.24.20-1 brought back most of the icons. More are missing with 2.24.21-2 and 2.24.22-1.
I wonder if this should be in Pacman & Package Upgrade Issues since it happens when upgrading and if there is enough information for a bug report.

  • My Entire iphoto Library is missing - only showing missing icons please hel

Hi there, I am in quite a mess. I purchased an external hard drive to back up all my content on my computer. I was attempting to backup my iphoto which was not exporting properly. I went into the help menu to see how to back up to an external hard drive. The description was given to me on Help as going into pictures in Finder and then into iphoto library where all the photos would be backed up and I could copy and transfer to the external hard drive from there. There were several icons in that location and I clicked on one that was titled iphotlibrary6 (or something similar) to see if the photos were in there. Then I got a pop up saying was rebulding thumbnail caches and then all my photos showed the missing icons but I can't get the photos to show or come back. I looked in the trasha dn they are not there. I don't know what to do to get them back.
This happened a while ago when my iphoto crashed (support didn't know how this happened) and I had to get my entire macbook reconfigured.
I would really appreciate someone's help as the phone support refuses to help me unless I pay them more $.
I haven't touched anything else on the iphoto and it says it has 1730 photos so I know there are in here somewhere as I have not deleted anything.
Please help me get these back!
    Thanks in advance!

HI again, I got them back thanks! I did a check in search for the original and modified folder as they weren't in the pictures:iphoto library. I found them in the trash. I don't know how they got there, I most likely put them there somehow but I moved them back to their proper location and then did as was suggested (Hold Alt and Apple and launch iPhoto) and they all came back (in their proper locations too!).
Thanks again so much for your help! I hope someone else can learn from my lack of computer know-how!

  • OpenOffice 2.0.2-2 menu and icons disappearing

Since my upgrade to OpenOffice 2.0.2-2 and/or to Gnome 2.14 beta (from Blaasvis' repo) the menu and icons in OpenOffice keep disappearing. Only when i hold my mouse over an icon or a menu it appears, otherwise nothing is there. I've tried deleting my .openoffice.org2 folder without any luck. What could be causing the missing menu and icons? Could it be a problem with some of the packages installed from Blaavis gnome2.13 repo?
    Any ideas?

Tried that but did not work either   OOo opens and for a second looks like it will be fine, then the icons and menus go into meltdown. If I switch into KDE OOo works fine  :?:

  • How do i see menu bar icons if safari has so many headers

    Hi Everyone,
when i have safari open i have File Edit View History Bookmarks Develop Window Help and Debug
this means that many of my menu bar icons are missing eg Dropbox Evernote etc....
Does anyone know if there is a way to cycle through the menu bar icons to get the one i want whilst safari or any other programme with many headings like this is open?
Or can i drag and drop the menu bar items into some other order so they appear out the tail end ?
    Thanks
    A

Just click on the Desktop and they will appear. Or don't use so many and get rid of Safari's Debug menu.

  • Flex/Air applications with an OS X Menu Bar icon

    (Flash Builder 4 beta)
I'm developing a flex/air application for mac os x exclusivley. The application should be very unobtrusive to the user, and as such, I want to eliminate the dock icon for the application and have it run exclusivley in the os x menu bar. Similar to a twitterific app. I've scoured the documentation for a way to do this, but only come up with methods for a system tray in windows, and dock icon function on a mac.
Does AIR really lack the ability to have a menu bar icon?
    Thanks in advance!

I've made menu's already for the application. They are native os x menu's but they are used create contextual menus (file, edit, view...etc...) and are only visible when the application is open. Unless their is a feauture I missed I don't think I can do it with those. I'm looking for the ability to create a menubar icon application similar to twitter, or the default apple spotlight.

  • Removing Steam from my XFCE menu

When I installed Steam via Cedega, it put two entries for it in the "Other" portion of my XFCE menu.  I removed it, but the icons are still there.  How would I remove these entries?

They're probably .desktop files somewhere in ~/.local/share/applications. If not there, then /usr/share/applications. Just delete 'em.
By sheer coincidence, I only discovered this myself yesterday. Finally I have tidy menus.

    Hello jo90733,
I would recommend reinstalling Mountain Lion to replace the missing/damaged components of these applications. While the process shouldn't affect any data (images, music, etc) you have on the system, it's always a good idea to have a backup in place prior to reinstalling.
OS X Mountain Lion: Back up your Mac
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11371
OS X Mountain Lion: Reinstall OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10763
Important: You need to be connected to the Internet to reinstall OS X.
Choose Apple menu > Restart. Once your Mac restarts (and the gray screen appears), hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys.
If you’re not connected to the Internet, choose a network from the Wi-Fi menu (in the top-right corner of the screen).
Select Reinstall OS X, and then click Continue.
Follow the onscreen instructions. In the pane where you select a disk, select your current OS X disk (in most cases, it is the only one available).
To start the installation, click Install.
    Cheers,
    Allen

  • Menu toolbar icons not displayed in colour when deployed on the Web

    Hello!
We are developing an application using Forms6i on Windows NT.
Our problem is that menu toolbar icons are not displayed in colour when the application is deployed on the Web using lookAndFeel = generic. This is the case both when using Microsoft IE5 and Netscape 4.5. When lookAndFeel = oracle, however, the icons are displayed in colour.
The icons are stored as *.gif files in the same directory as the application *.html file. It does not help to create a virtual path /web_icons/ in the www listener and edit the parameter default.icons.iconpath in the file Registry.dat.
When running the application as client/server, the menu toolbar icons are displayed in colour as expected.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

But did you try to printout the form anyway? I guess you will see the icons on the printout, won't you?

  • How do I get rid of the menu bar icon on Mac OS?

The Creative Cloud menu bar icon on Mac OS is pretty much useless since I already have icons for all the apps and don't use Adobe Cloud storage. Anyone know how to get it off my menu bar? The menu bar is MY space. I ought to have control over what goes there. If every application starts dumping stuff there it will quickly become a mess. I want the option to turn this off.
    Thanks!

Most videos play "inline", not full screen, on Safari on iPad.  You can use a quick "reverse pinch" gesture (as if you were zooming in, but more of a quick flick than a slow zoom) on top of the video to make it full screen.

  • How do I fix missing icons after wake from sleep?

This issue will not go away and continues as a significant bug in Mountain Lion 10.8.2.
If I let the battery drain beyond 5% and put it to sleep. Or if it goes into hibernation automatically due to low battery power. Imust push the power button to wake it.
It then shows the progress bar to gather the data and starts back up normally. Except that now icons in the bar area show artifacts, and native Apple top screen menu item icons such as bluetooth and Wi-Fi no longer show after a full shut down and/or restart.
What's worse is that all Mail, Safari, Text Edit and other native applications loose normally visible icons displaying blank boxes where they would normally show.
Running Disk Utility and Disk Warrior does not correct the problem. And starting up in Safe Mode has no effect. An Apple store unchecked the automatic graphics switching. But that does not work to solve the problem.
Today, the Finder would not launch on restart and had to be launched manually each time after a restart.
An SMC or PRAM process also do not fix the problem.
I also deleted all cashes and rebuilt launch services running Onyx. It doesn't fix the problem either. The last thing I did was reinstall 10.8.2 from a flash drive installer. Still no joy.
Has anyone found a better way to fix this problem without going through the tedious system restore?

For the Downloads icon. From your Safari menu bar click View > Customize Toolbar.
    Drag up the default toolbar.
You need the folder for the Mountain Lion installer in the Dock.
