[XFCE4] How to lock screen before going to standby?

Hello,
I use the "standby" button in the logout menu of XFCE. However when I come back from standby I'm not getting prompted for a password. I looked at all the configuration menu but don't find the option.
Is there an easy way to force xlock before going to standby or after coming back from standby?
Thanks
Alphazo

Hi,
There is no a Group Policy to lock the Screen Resolution, but you may try to )disable the Control Panel/Display component which will disable changing any display options, including the Screen Resolution.
Open the Group Policy editor and navigate to User Configuration/Administrative templates/Control Panel/Display. Enable the Disable the Display Control panel policy.
When this component is opened, it will show the "Some items have been disabled by the Administrator".

  • Xfce4 will not lock screen after resume from hibernate/suspend

    There have been a lot previous threads about this issue.
    I cannot fix it. Furthermore, it's somewhat confusing.
    Since this is a single user system (literally), I can get away with a systemd powered hack:
    [Unit]
    Description=Lock screen before switching power state
    Before=sleep.target
    [Service]
    Type=oneshot
    ExecStart=/usr/bin/sudo -u gebruiker xscreensaver-command -lock
    [Install]
    WantedBy=sleep.target
    Is this a bug? Anyone who can report this functionality works?. I have:
    xflock4 installed and working
    xscreensaver installed and working
    systemd working properly
    no errors in ~/.xsession-errors
    both config items ticked in
    - xfce4-session
    - xfce4-power-manager
    Anyone?

    Anyone who can report this functionality works?
    Using the first option from the xscreensaver wiki article:
    [Unit]
    Description=Lock X session using xscreensaver
    Before=sleep.target
    [Service]
    Type=oneshot
    ExecStart=/usr/bin/xuserrun /usr/bin/xscreensaver-command -lock
    [Install]
    WantedBy=sleep.target
    ...in conjunction with:
    both config items ticked in
    - xfce4-session
    - xfce4-power-manager
    ...and fade to and fade from disabled, works here for me.

    Hi Apple user 789,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
    The following article will provide some troubleshooting steps for your iPhone.
    iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
    If that does not resolve the issue, refer to page 146 in the iPhone User Guide to Reset All Settings:
    iPhone User Guide for iOS 7
    manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
    The final troubleshooting step would be to restore your device:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
    Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition. Before restoring:
    Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes.
    Back up your device.
    Transfer and sync content to your computer.
    I hope this information helps ....
    Happy Holidays!

  • How to lock screen

    Hi,
    I wanted to lock my screen instead of sleeping my mac, i ve been able to lock it but with other application, how can i lock my mac screen?
    Chucleskill 

    Run Keychain Access.app and, in the keychain menu, top left on your screen, under Preferences, click "Show status in menu bar"
    When you do this, a lock will appear as the leftmost item in the menu bar on the right side of your screen.
    Now, when you wish to lock the screen, simply click the lock icon and select "Lock Screen"
    It's that easy.

  • Lock screen event goes to Apple Calendar, NOT my 3rd party one

    Holy Carp this is AWFUL.
    Finger swiping an event on my Lock screen goes to Apple Calendar, NOT my 3rd party one Week Calendar.
    Is there any way to set Week Calendar to open when I swipe events in the lock screen?

    If this is happening on multiple phones, and you restored your replacement phone from the backup of your old phone, there is propabably something corrupt in your backup that restored to your new phone.  You may have to save as much of your data as you can (import your photos to your computer, back up your contacts and calendar, etc.), then restore your phone as new and start over.

  • Black screen before going to sleep

    With the "dim screen..." option box UNCHECKED, instead of dimming the screen before putting the display to sleep, the screen turns black. The same kinda black as if you dim your backlight to 0.
    So I can still see some windows etc... but the backlight is just not working.
    This is very annoying cause it turns my screen to black after one minute when I am on the battery and it makes it impossible to read a text.
    I believe this is a bug... what do you think, o you have the same problem?
    PS: Of course my sleep setting is set to a much longer time (15 minutes) so it is not related to that.

  • How to test GSS before going to Production

    Scenario:
    The live web application is currently running on one site. New site has to be setup following which the traffic will have to be routed from the old site to the new site. GSS will be implemented for the first time on both sites, old and new.
    What is a good way to test out the GSS functionality before going into Production i.e. without affecting the old production internet traffic.
    Regards.

    Are both GSSs (at old & new sites) part of the same GSS network? If yes then request for http://www.abc.com can be forwarded to any of the GSSs.
    Both of these GSSs should have the same rules and should reply back with the same VIP. In GSS network all GSSs carry the same Rules and they independently probes the Resources (Vips).
    The primary DNS server can route the DNS resolution request to either GSS (at old/new site).
    Lets Assume that your VIP is the IP for ww.abc.com.
    You have two DataCenters DC1 & DC2 with one GSS place at each location.
    Gss1 is at DC1 & GSS2 is at DC2.
    As per the above assumptions
    You should have the following entries in the Primary DNS server which is authoritative for the entire “abc.com” domain
    http://www.abc.com. IN NS gss1.abc.com. <-- NS record for http://www.abc.com via GSS
    http://www.abc.com. IN NS gss2.abc.com
    gss1.abc.com. IN A 100.100.100.100 <-- A record for GSS1 at DC1
    gss2.abc.com IN A 200.200.200.200 <-- A record for GSS2 at DC2
    The primary DNS server with the above two recoeds can route the DNS resolution request to either gss1/gss2.
    Typical flow is as follows
    1. Client will hit their DNS servers (configured on their machines as primary/backup dns server).
    2. "Client's DNS server" will query "DNS server authoritative for abc.com" for http://www.abc.com.
    3. "DNS server authoritative for abc.com" will ask "client's DNS server" to query "GSS1/GSS2 -both Authoritative for http://www.abc.com"
    4. "Client's DNS server" will query either gss1/gss2 for http://www.abc.com.
    5. GSS1/GSS2 will send the ip add of most appropriate http://www.abc.com (which should be configured on ACE as VIP).
    6. "Client's DNS server" will handover this VIP to client
    7. Client will hit the VIP configured on ACE (for application http://www.abc.com).

  • Help a newbie.....How to lock screen after suspend-to-ram????

    Hello all,
    First of all, Arch is awesome.  I love the speed, stability, and the documentation.  I was actually surprised that I was able to get everything working on my laptop with just reading the wikis and the forums.....well everything but one small issue.
    My laptop suspends perfectlly, but when it resumes it takes me to my desktop without prompting for a password.  I would like for my session to be automatically locked and then prompt for a password before if could be used.  Is this possible?  If so, how do I enable this?
    My previous experience with Linux has been limited to kubuntu.  I was able to change this setting in the power management icon on the system tray.  This option is not availibe on the icon or in the battery/power section in the kcontrol system (at least not that I can find).  Can someone please point me in the right direction to add this option.
    Sorry if this has been discused before.  I searched, but did not find any relevent posts.
    I am using Duke with KDE.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Thanks for the replay pauldonnelly.
    It does work if I manually lock the screen (with either Ctrl-Alt-L or from KMenu), but I was hoping there was a way for the screen to automatically lock when the lid is closed.
    Any of suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Matt

  • Iphone 4 how to lock screen while talking?

    I just got an iphone 4 white (Verizon).  I haven't seen this problem posted in a while but I'm having a terrible time while making a call, I'm constantly bumping buttons with my face while on a call which can lead to muting, dropped calls, etc.
    I do have an Otterbox Defender.  Is this messing with the sensor?  Either way there must be some way around this because I need a case and can't be taking it off each time I get a call.  I've tried the lock/sleep button on the top and that drops the call (unless you're on speaker).
    What is the fix?  Do I have a defective phone?
    Thanks for any help!

    this is a pic of my case. So what should I do? Thanks a lot!!!

  • Can I connect a wired keyboard to my iPhone 5S while stuck on the lock screen? (Need answers ASAP)

    My iPhone's screen is unusable/broken on the right side of it so I can't enter the passcode on it and I can't access the Notification Center or the Control Center. Touch ID and Siri is disabled until I can enter the passcode and iTunes won't let me back it up until I enter the passcode. I have a replacement iPhone 5S here, but I want to restore it with the backup so I don't lose all of my stuff.
    I was wondering if anyone knows if I can connect a wired keyboard to my iPhone while on the lock screen before I go and spend the money on one?
    I was looking at something like this: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Belkin-B2B115-Wired-Keyboard-for-Apple-iPad-with-Light ning-Connector/35255242
    Unless anyone knows anything else I can try?

    Are you serious... only bluetooth keyboards? Even if the keyboard has the lightning connector? This supposedly works on the iPhone: http://store.griffintechnology.com/wired-keyboard-for-ios-devices
    as well as this: http://www.att.com/accessories/specialty-items/logitech-apple-30-pin-wired-keybo ard.html

  • Locked screen music controls doesn't want to work for 'remote', Why?

    When the screen is locked and you double tap on the home button, basic music options display, it's the top dar of the music app. This function works perfectly with the music app but the remote app by apple to control iTunes doesn't seem to be compatible, it seems stupid but possible. I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything, and that its not just me and my iPad.
    Thanks

    I know how the remote app works and how the locked screen works .But that's exactly what I said, the remote app will not control anything on the iPad. It only controls the iTunes library on your computer.
    it wouldn't matter if you could get to the remote app with screen locked - even though you cant because it will not control the Music app on the iPad.
