[xfce4]howto keep the personalized theme ?

I've got Arch Linux installed on 6 PCs for an association.
We customized xfce4 the best we could, then everything is gone as soon as it gets upgraded (yesterday to 4.2.3-1).
The way we changed the splash screen is dirty, as for now we simply edited /opt/xfce4/share/themes/ArchLinux/balou/themerr and created an image to replace original :oops:
I've had no time enough to go deep into xfce4 documentation, but basically, what are the best way to keep our xfce4's customization when updating :
- Create a custom theme (splash, xfwm4), then manually configuring the PCs one by one ?
- Create a xfce4 package with special theme files ?
- Some other way ?

that's what god (tm) invenetd the ~/.themes folder for
copy your theme to:
~/.themes/<themename>/balou/
under this folder should be the png and the themerc file

Firefox only stores the header and footer image files of the currently selected Persona in the profile folder.
The image files of other installed Personas are loaded from the server when you select a different Persona via "Add-ons > Appearance".
If the image files are missing or can't be retrieved then you only see the text and background colors as specified in the data of the Persona.
The data of all installed Personas and its background color and text color are stored in the lightweightThemes.usedThemes pref in JSON object format ({"id":"#","name":"xxx",...}).

The images will be copied to the lwtheme folder and you need to delete the files in this folder to make Firefox use a new Persona.
Set the lightweightThemes.usedThemes pref to make Firefox use the Persona images.

Howto change the development theme

Hi all,
I was just wondering if there is a way to change the APEX dev environment theme (f?p=4500). I have two APEX environment, one for live application and one for development, so I would like to avoid confusion using a different theme.
I know there is the "Run Application Only" build status but I prefer not to set it in my live application.

Or you can use the Oracle APEX Builder Plugin which allows you to show a background image depending on the system you are working. See http://apexplugin.sourceforge.net/ - It's the "Background Image depending on Connection" feature.

How to keep my personal hotspot on always with no changes to off?

If you are using the Music App, it should continue to play the songs while playing solitaire, unless the game app settings prevent it, which I really doubt.
Quit both apps - Music and Solitaire and reboot the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Try again and see if it works properly.

How can i keep all installed themes/personas without having to look them up again in the personas gallery?

When i open up the Add-ons tool, under themes it only shows the last 10 or so themes i used. Is there any way that you can let us download as many themes as we want so we don't have to search for them again in the personas gallery? Meaning that when we install a theme, it saves that theme for later use and if we don't want that theme we can just uninstall it. Because i have over 20 favorites that i like to switch around every few days.

The only thing you need to move is your music folder. Once that is done, you need to tell iTunes where it is located.
Actually, this is NOT the way to do it. It usually works only because Mac OS is pretty good about keeping track of files. It's not how iTunes is designed to work. Many, many Windows users (and a few Mac users too) have problems when they do it this way.

The correct way to do it is to point iTunes prefs -> Advanced - iTunes music folder to a new location then go to iTunes menu -> File -> Library -> Consolidate library.
iTunes will copy everything in iTunes to the new location. Then you can delete the old iTunes music folder n(and any other music you had in iTunes but not in the music folder).

How do you wipe all personal info on a macbook but keep the applications on it?

So I am selling my early 2011 MacBook Pro and have been having a lot of trouble getting people to buy it at my asking price... So I was thinking of ways I can get it at the price I wanted and thought to use the software on the computer as a selling point. Well it worked and I have all of adobe CS5 on it along with Microsoft Office for mac and windows 7 as a partiition. Well I got a buyer who is interested primarily because of the software and I want to sell it but just keep the applications on it. What can I do to protect myself by getting rid of any personal information? Do I just go to my key chain and wipe it clean and wipe all my documents? The licensing for the applications won't be an issue for me so I don't care about that. I just want anything that was personally mine gone.

Correct, if he upgrades to 10.8, Apple's records will show that it was him that upgraded the machine to 10.8, thus if the Feds ask Apple, that's the information they will tell them, so all ties to you will be severed.
However the Feds are not stupid and won't just rely upon one piece of information, but if files are created in your name with your personal information (like if you kept the programs on there) then they could be coming around asking questions as there is more evidence.

Erase/install the machine with 10.7, drop your price and try selling it again with no software, then sell the 10.6.4+ disk seperately or as a paid addition to the 10.7 machine.

I have downloaded the persona I want. Every time I open a new tab I keep getting various "persona" things coming up time that fill the whole page. How do I get rid of this?

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).

DNG files do not contain some metadata supplied by the camera, which can be used by the manufacturer's software. Thus, if you don't keep the original Raw photo, you will lose this information.
If your 1000% sure you're never going to use the manufacturer's software, then this isn't a problem. But who can be sure what software you will be using 10 years from now?

Why does the default theme for firefox 4 only work with add-ons such as personas? It will allow me to preview an alternative theme with a persona but won't let me apply it without switching to the default. No option for disabled and visually impaired.

Firefox 4 also begins to load an all-default setting browser when it is first opened slowing my browsing start up. All issues were not experienced before the Mozilla Firefox 4.0 upgrade.

Luckily, if you be very careful and pay attention to what you have selected in itunes, you can separate these things
Basically, in iTunes, there are tabs at the top for Summary, info, apps, etc..
These tabs control PER DEVICE what syncs between itunes and the device.
Therefore, you can plug iPhone 4S #1 in, and select to sync contacts with address book, then do so. Then plug iPhone 4S #2 in, and not choose to sync with address book. iTunes will keep these settings separate. However, in that situation for music and apps, you would check to sync both on both, in order to get all music and apps on each.
The only thing to watch out for, each computer 'user' has only one set of address book and ical, meaning that if you want to sync both phones to the computer, but dont want to mix contacts, only one phone will be able to sync contacts and/or calendars. Basically, each category in the Info tab will only hold one device's information, so you CAN do contacts with iPhone 4S #1, and calendars with #2.

Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.

You can't, i'm sorry. What you're running into is the activation lock and it requires that the original owner release it with their apple ID before you can set it up.

In iCloud Drive you could create two separate custom folders, one for work documents and one for private documents and organize your documents there. Don't use the app specific folders (Keynote, Pages, Numbers, ...) , because you can only create one level of folders inside these folders.
