Xfinity home security - Outdoor security camara

Having connection problem with rear ourdoor security camera on touch screen pad and phone app. Please advise. The front camara is working.

agreed. i'd call in but... has it ever worked? if not, which package you have, 300 or 350? if 300, you need to get their enhanced video monitoring, because i dont think the default service has support for multiple cams but if your answers were, yes and 350. i'd most certainly call in and request a tech come out and exchange the cam for a functioning one. btw 350 comes with a warrenty program so dont let them charge you for any of it. 300 by default does not come with a warrenty (besides what maybe the manufacturers may offer)

  • Trying to disconnect Xfinity Home Security - been on hold for 90 minutes.

    I recently signed up for Xfinity Home Security, and the service has not worked well at all.  We have had technicians out to our house multiple times.  Also, I get errors all the time when trying to arm the system from my cell phone.  Additionally, it will report doors being open, when they are closed. I have been on hold for over 90 minutes, and they are trying to charge me a huge termination fee to stop the service.  I never signed an agreement or agreed to any terms verbally.  They added it on at the Xfinitity store and were not able to even give me a printed copy of the services.

  • Home security installations: additional router vs managed switch?

       I had the basic home security installed this week.  I had no existing hard-wired security system.  The installer attached a second router to the cable modem and went about his install and all internet traffic crawled to a 30 cps dail-up mode.  The installer's opinion was "this should not happer/affect your current internet speed"; it obviously did.  I had him attach the new Home router to the existing router, shut everything down, rebooted, used the iPad to complete the installation, and somehow, eventually, internet speed seemed to come back up to what it was.    My current router was max'd out, re: ethernet wire connections.  I would have expected the install to handle that via an unmanaged switch instead of a second modem.     Questions:        1) Why a second router vs a switch?       2) If a second router is required, doesn't that require modifying settings in the routers?  The second router, given what I know, creates a subnet, and the degradation of internet speed seems to have been caused by the routers competing against each other.

    Xfinity Home Secure 300 System was recently installed by Xfinity Rep.  He installed their Netgear WNR 1000 Router (only capable of 10/100) in FRONT of my Cisco Linksys Smart Gigabit (10/100/1000) Router.  I have Extreme 150 Internet Service. Connections are:       Their Netgear 10/100 Router Internet WAN Port--------to my Gigabit DOCIS 3 Telephony Modem                                                                                            Ethernet LAN Port     Their Netgear 10/100 Router Ethernet LAN Port-------to my Cisco 10/100/1000 Router                                                                                            Internet WAN PortMy computers are Ethernet connected to my Cisco Gigabit Router Ethernet PortsDoesn't  their FRONT (Primary) 10/100 Router attached to my Cisco Gigabit Router (Secondary) limit  the speeds of my Etherne Ports  attached to my computers to just 10/100 Mgb?The Xfinity site shows no detailed Netgear  User Manual.

  • Home Security System For Mac?

    I'm on the market for a home security system I can run through my home computers. I was all set to purchase a nice Logitech system with an outdoor camera and everything else, and noticed it doesn't work with Mac.
    I've done a lot of research, but I'm not finding a recommended system for Mac users.
    Can anyone make a recommendation or point me in the right direction?
    Thanks.

    You might check CNet Downloads or MacUpdate and search for the software. Then you will know what systems should work with Macs such as Thinking Home that works with X-10 devices.

  • How to cancel TV and Phone while keeping Internet and Home Security

    We have moved to CA and have Xfinity TV and Internet connected at our new address. However, we still have Triple Play (TV, Phone, Internet) AND Home Security service at our prior address in MN. We need to disconnect TV and Phone in MN immediately, but keep the Internet and Home Security services for another few weeks until we close on the house sale. We've spoken to multiple reps in CA and MN and been given the run around. Xfinity Home refers us to Comcast customer support, which refers us vack to Xfinity home. CA reps say only MN can get the MN account sorted out. Complete cluster.

  • Home security secret wifi network

    I just changed out my xfinity wifi router with an Aeris Surfboard cable modem and TP-Link n300 router.  The cable modem activated and I've setup my wifi.  Problem is the home security panel and camera will no longer connect.  I called the home security phone support and they couldn't do anything and recommended calling a technician.  How do I connect my panel?  There is no information on setting up this separate network for the panel to connect.

    If you have other devices on your network and have enabled file sharing on them, you will see an occasional device or two come and go. That is normal. Usually, you'll see something with some numbers. That's usually the last 6 digits of the MAC address of a device.
    Any hacker who is smart enough to crack your network is not going to allow his identity or any trace of his computer to be displayed on your network.
    If you are still convinced that someone is cracking your network, you can enable the "closed" network option, but there are plenty of free utilities on the Internet available that will reveal a "closed" network in seconds. Most 12 year old kids looking for free wireless know how to do this.
    If you want to do this anyway, here is how:
    Open AirPort Utility - click Manual Setup
    Click the Wireless tab below the icons
    Click the Wireless Options button
    Enter a check mark next to "Create a closed network"
    Click Done, then click Update and wait for the Time Capsule to restart

  • Home Security Webcam

    Knowledgable suggestions would be much appreciated as to webcam type and software to provide inexpensive home security via an iMac 600 Graphite that runs 10.3.9.
    The 2-4 cameras would have to be outdoor models, mounted in sheltered spots but subject to some weather.
    Ideally, the system would be motion-sensitive and record to the iMac's hard drive, plus be viewable from a remote location. It would be nice if the cameras were wireless, but I suspect I'll have to settle for FireWire connections.
    Much obliged for any advice.

  • How can I access my home security DVR from the internet?

    My Time Capsule (as a router and not a bridge) blocks me from accessing my home security DVR from the internet.  I can access it from other computers connected to my LAN but not from the internet.  I guess it's a firewall setting issue.  I can't add the home security application to the list of firewall allowed incoming connections since it's a Windows app that I cannot install on my Mac.  On the other hand, the app is installed on my old PC but I can't access the Mac firwall settings from the PC and add the security app (If that's the problem).
    My DVR is connected to a Netgear switch which is connected to the Time Capsule which is connected to a Cisco modem provided by Comcast. I thought one of the modem ports had to be opened by Comcast. That was not the issue.  After spending 2 hours on the phone with Comcast going in circles talking to 10 different overseas agents, they concluded the Netgear switch was blocking me from accessing the DVR.  I think they are wrong and that it's a Mac firewall problem.  HELP!!!  Does anyone know what could be the problem and how to solve it?

    Did you forward the required ports in the TIme Capsule? If not it won't work.. it has nothing to do with firewall unless the DVR is plugged into the Mac. If it is plugged into a switch you need to lock the IP of the DVR and find out what ports are required.. usually just port 80, ie html.. but it could be some others.
    Since Apple do not use upnp to open ports.. the TC will have to manually be provided with the ports.. Apple use PMP-NAT that is not used by the rest of the known world.. Just to ensure you stay in the camp.

  • How can i view my home security with a basic phone

    I have a basic lg phone thru verizon.  can i set this phone up so i can view my home security while i am away

    You can purchase any smartphone to use on wifi if you buy one straight out with no service, but you'd need to go to a site that resells used phones or find a prepaid that requires no service. You could even use a tablet that is wifi-capable.  But that's just using WiFi.  Sounds like you want all over access on mobile data and wifi though. You cannot buy a Walmart phone and use that in lieu of your basic phone on Verizon.  You would have to upgrade to a smartphone and that eligibility would be based on your contract if you have one.

  • Storing config.xml in a separate directory (/home/secure/config) !

    Hi All,
    We wanted to keep the config.xml file alone in a different directory
    I have tried using the -Dweblogic.ConfigFile system property during weblogic server startup it did NOT work out.
    I have also tried using the -Dweblogic.RootDirectory in combination with -Dweblogic.ConfigFile . Even then I am facing a problem "weblogic.management.ManagementRuntimeException: com.rsa.jsafe.JSAFE_PaddingException"
    I would like to keep just the config.xml in a separate directory like for e.g. /home/secure/config/config.xml and wanted to point the domain I have created to use the config.xml stored under /home/secure/config directory.
    Any pointers to info source will be REALLY appreciated.
    Many Thanks in Advance,

    well it all about applying your programming logic..Why don't you write a dedicated servlet which can locate that particular in your computer and then send out the downloadable content for you by streaming the data.
    checkout the below example of one my recent posts where i'm trying to locate an image file and giving an option of opening that file in browser or asking eu to download that file via a customized logic.

  • How to get my software on my 8900 curve and view home security cameras ?

    hello, i was hoping to find a solution on how to access my home security cameras on my 8900 curve ; was told it was possible but the attet tech didnt know how exactly ! is there a way to download my software and view my home cameras on my curve ?

    hi and Welcome to the Forums!
    You will need to do one (or more) of several things:
    1) Find out if the maker of your cameras has an app for your BB. Do whatever they say to do to make it work.
    2) Create a compatible web page from your cameras that you can then view using your BB web browser. Compatible media streams can be found in this KB:
    KB05482 Media types supported on the BlackBerry smartphone
    I think this has been done before -- do a wide search on this forum and see if you can find the answers that others have found in the past.

  • Seeking advice/recommendations on a wireless networked camera for personal home security

    Greetings forum! I am in need of advice/recommendations for a medium quality (less than $200) camera that I can set to record via my Airport Extreme network. This is mainly for home security, to watch the main entry point of the domicile. Alerts and/or viewing live stream remotely needed; I am considering the following model and welcome any feedback from those with knowledge/experience. Has anyone used the following and if so, how would you rate such things as ease of use, compatibility, ease of set-up, etc.
    Linksys - Wireless-N Internet Home Monitoring Camera
    Model: WVC80N   |   SKU: 9506652
    Thanks in advance.

    I answered the questions that were asked. "What will be, will be"
    If you want to talk about security in relation to malware in general:
    While there are no known viruses that attack Mac OS X at the present time, it is possible for spyware to get onto your Mac.
    So I go to lenghts to protect my user. A hosed system can be replaced but a compromised user folder is compromised forever. Along with all your important data like bank records, credit cards, ... I.e. your "identity" stolen.
    The best way to avoid that is by using your built-in firewall which is industrial strength and/or a hard wired router, downloading only from "trusted" sites, installing all security updates and being careful about what you give administrative power to. It is also recommended to run day to day tasks from a non-admin account.
    Don't use Limewire or any other P2P service to download your software, get it from reputable sources. In addition, always keep at least your users backed up, preferably a clone of your entire system on a separate disk. And put your sensitive passwords, bank accounts, credit card numbers in a "secure note" in a new keychain or in an encrypted folder.
    If and when a Mac virus does appear it will be headline news and you can download the AV software then. If you feel you have to run an AV program I'd suggest ClamXav a mac friendly freeware app that is very stable with OS X. It will check for known virus signatures at any rate.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't open FF4, and I get a Vista Home Security 2011 error message

    I downloaded FF v4 on my Dell laptop running Vista. FF worked fine, so I downloaded Aniweather, Forecastfox weather, and something else that I can't find now all from the Mozilla website.
    I tried to adjust the weather to my locale from the default New York City. Then everything went to crap. I got a pop-up from Vista Home Security 2011 that ran a scan, then told me I had 31 infections of Malware and trojans. Then it told me I had to subscribe to it's services to remove the infections.
    Then I tried to open FF4 and nothing happened. So I tried to open Internet Explorer and it won't open either. The Vista Home Security keeps popping up and acts like a trojan, so I haven't done anything with it. How can I find and remove everything I downloaded from Mozilla?

    Vista Home Security 2011 is a rogue application. Try running several malware scanners to ensure your computer is not infected. It is best to run several as each will pick up things that the others miss. Some scanners you can try are:
    * Malwarebytes - http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
    * SuperAntiSpyware - http://www.superantispyware.com
    * Ad-Aware - http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php
    * Windows Defender - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx
