Xfinity X1 with Sonos Playbar - nightly reboot of X1 causes sound to come back on

Hi, I have a Sonos Playbar directly connected to my Xfinity X1 cable box via TOSLINK (I prefer to connect it this way versus connecting the Playbar to my TV since it enables me to get 5.1 surround, which my TV can't pass through). This works very well except for the fact that when the Xfinity X1 box does its nightly reboot, the sound starts feeding back through the Playbar even though when the TV had been powered off the sound had stopped. This can be "fixed" by putting the volume on the Playbar down to zero before falling asleep, but I'd prefer that it not occur at all, since it's a rude awakening (pun intended) to be woken up if/when I forget. You are currently doing the only "fix" I am aware of unless you are willing to invest in some 3rd party products.
First of all, I do not use the Comcast remotes. I am a HUGE advocate of 3rd party universal remotes and I own a wide variety of them. That allowed me buy a 3rd party TOSLINK switcher (roughly $32) which I added to my Playbar. The switcher I bought has four inputs which can be controlled by IR remote along with the power on/off. So not only does my X1 box work in 5.1 with my Playbar, so do all of my other sources and it is fully controllable from remote including sound on/off.
So your answer is yes you can do it if you are willing to spend a few $$$. A Harmony 650 remote is roughly $50-$60 and is fully capable of handling this along with much more. As I mentioned earlier, the TOSLINK switch I bought was about $32. Once properly programmed the setup works perfectly and it is super simple to use.

I am having a problem with email, when I delete messages from my Ipad, they come back into trash whether they are on my PC or not. The only way I can delete them is to to my providers site and delete everything there.

I am having a problem with email. I can receive and send, but when I delete, the deleted messages return into either Trash or Bin or both whether or not I have deleted them from my PC.
The only way I can get rid of them permanently, is to go into my area of my providers site(Sky) and empty all of the boxes there. I imagine it's a setting, please advise.

VM Guests coming up with No Network after rebooting.

Howdy,
We have a random problem in that when we reboot our VM guests, they sometimes come back with no network connectivity at all. We cannot ping them or remote into them. When I access them from the console, the Network icon shows the warning symbol
and says: "No Internet Access".
If I check an ipconfig, it shows a 169 address even though we set static IPs on all our servers.
All I have to do to fix it is Disable and Enable the network adapter from within Windows and then everything goes back to normal.
VM Hosts are running 2012 and Guests are mostly running 2012 R2 if that matters.
Anyone have any idea what would cause this to happen?

Did you configure this VM a VLAN option use any advanced NIC option on Hyper-V host or VM, please install the latest update with your Hyper-V host and this vm then monitor this
issue again, from your current description it seems like the known issue and you can install the following KB to solve it.

Voicemails with no message. Reboot helps but doesn't solve

I am getting voicemails with no message. I had this issue on my last phone and just got a new phone and the same thing happens. If I reboot the phone enough times they come back. But this is annoying to have to keep doing. I don't think a carrier issue as stated in a previous thread because they will appear after rebooting.

IOS 8/8.0.2 reboots during call and then comes back

I have seen issues with IOS 8 and 8.0.2 on both an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 6 where I am on a conference call, and the phone goes dead to the white screen with the black apple, then 30 seconds later, the phone comes back on with the previous call still connected. Has anyone else seen this issue? I have seen this issue at least once a day since upgrading to IOS 8 on my iPhone 5 and my receipt of my iPhone 6 and then subsequently on IOS 8.0.2

This very same thing everyone here has posted about happened to me this very evening. I only found this post by googling around as there's not too much.
I have a 5c, my friend has a 5s. Both of us running 8.02. During a call, first my phone cut out like the call dropped and I see the Apple logo on screen like its rebooting. I'm like "what the..." but before I can even say the word, my phone is back at the home screen and my call resumes. Even the call time counter kept counting like the call never dropped. But I could not here my friend though he said he could still hear me.
The strange part of this is within a couple of minutes the exact same thing happened to my friend on his phone during our same call. Apple logo, screen reboot, he can't hear me for like 5 seconds and then all is normal again. He suspects the NSA; I say loose bolts in the plumbing.

SRST router reboot - T1s dont come back up

Have anybody experienced this ? I have tried two different IOSes and behaves the same. On 12.4.9T1 and 12.4.9T, once the router fails over to SRST, phones register, mgcp fallsback to h323 mode, you can receive calls in and out just fine. Once you reboot the router, the t1s wont come back up any more. They remain in TEI_ASSIGNED state, until you restore wan back to normal and mgcp is up and registered with Callmanager. If you failover the box now, it will go back to SRST mode with the t1s working just fine. This problem seem to exist only after a reboot of the router after it has failed over to SRST mode.

I have had a similar problem. If you no mgcp/ mgcp you should get them back too---but Cisco has yet to have a good answer to why MGCP is hanging after the failover. I presume that the gateway gets back up and registered; but l3 never goes into Multiple_frames_established; right?
Also check your "inhibit restarts at PRI intiialization" in the GW config and make sure it is not checked.

Firefox does not load pages, comes back with server not found

First I thought this was a problem with Firefox 4 beta but now I am having the same issue with 3.6.16
About 70% of the times, Firefox does not open the web page and comes back with "Server not found" message. Interesting thing is it comes back with this message on the first 2 tries and then on the third try for the same link it will display the page. Always, 2 fails and 3rd time it works. Now during the first two times, internet commnection is working and if I try the same URL on IE it works without any issues. This started happening after I tried Firefox 4 beta. 4 is not uninstalled and I am back to 3.6.16. But the issue remains.
I am using Win 7 64 Home Premium, SP1 is not applied yet but all updates are in place.

Well, I'm using Firefox 4.0 and have the same problem. I tried to open my private homepage and my *.net-domain comes back with the "Server not found" message (my *.com-domain loads without any problem - same contents on both websites)
I also tried to open my net-domain in FF portable - without any problems.
Clearing the cache, deleting the cookies etc in FF4 does not help either.
I also had the experience that FF4 does not load CSS5 websites (e.g. deviantart) properly (CSS does not work, website shows simply the html-version, a disgusting look). With FF portable the problem does not exist.
I tried this on different machines (e.g. Windows XP Pro SP3 (office PC), Win7 Pro 64, Win Vista SP2... (home PCs) and there I'm experiencing the same issues with FF4 and various websites.

Issue with 1231 AP's rebooting

On one site we have 12 cisco AIR-AP1231G-E-K9 AP's running IOS Version 12.3(2)JA4. They are accessing a variety of applications from RF scanning to PDA's.
this is standard across the company but we are having problems with 10 of these rebooting due to the following error message

This error is consisent on all the AP's
We have checked on all resources and can not find a cause for this error and the support company we use are not finding this.
Could anyone advise ?

Hi Ian,
The fact that the error is consistent on 10 of the 12 APs at one location and nowhere else would cause me to look at the switch ports the APs are connected to.
I would check the power being supplied to the APs. If you are doing power over ethernet and the line card is pre-standard 802.3af then you will see your APs reboot.
Just my 2 cents.

With the exception of cameras (webcams especially) Macs are pretty much "Plug &Play" with anything USB, and even though I've never used one, reviews say you just plug the turntable in and it reads as a drive.

The phone is in restore mode and the picture is telling you what to do. Connect the phone, by cable, to iTunes in the computer you normally use for syncing, and retore the phone.

Sonos uses its own priopietory wireless protocol SonosNet to distribute audio data among all its products, thus it should not affect other network devices which use standard WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n protocol at all though they may share the same radio channel for wirless signaling.
On my dual-band (5 GHz / 2.4 GHz) Airport Extreme staion, I select the option "802.11n Only (5GHz) - 802.11n (2.4GHz)" and turn on "Use wide channels" in Wireless configuration in order to use only 802.11n protocol and more radio channels to achieve maximum wireless bandwidth of 400 Mbps. This bandwidth is necessary for quick Time Machine backup to NAS connected to the Airport Extreme station through Ethernet cable. So my iMac and MacBook Pro always connected to the Airport Extreme through 5 GHz radio channel with 802.11n protocol whereas my iPhone 4S always connected through 2.4 GHz radio channel with the same protocol.
In my living room Sonos ZP-90 (same as new CONNECT model) zone player is connected to Airport Extreme directly through Ethernet cable (recommended by Sonos) and Sonos S5 (same as new PLAY:5 model) zone player in bedroom is connected wirelessly through SonosNet protocol to the ZP-90 zone player in living room.
These devices are in operation simutaneouly most of the time. Music is playing through the Sonos ZP90/S5 zone players througout the day, I am streaming viedo through Internet (fibre broadband 25 Mbps) on my MacBook Pro in bedroom or iMac in living room or reading news on my iPhone. So far so good and have no encounter any interference problem for about three years. Further more bandwidth for 802.11n protocol does not seem to be affected at all.
In fact with a low power Fujitsu USB drive (2.5" / 500 GB, designed for notebook) plug into USB port of Airport Extreme, it can be used as NAS drive for Sonos music distribution system without any problem. Just transfer all files from Music folder in my home directory on iMac into this NAS drive and set it up as music source in "Manage > Music Library Settings" in Sonos Controller for Mac application will do. Though the same drive can be served as Time Machine's backup disk as well, an independent full-fledged NAS drive for Sonos and Time Machine backup is better long-term solution for reliability and performance. With the NAS configured as sole music source, you do not need to keep any computer powered on all the time in order to play music through the Sonos system.

Iphone 4s. Phone dies with black screen intermittently. In spite of reboot attempts it wont come back for 10-15 minutes later with reboot. About three times in the last two weeks since IOS6 upgrade. One time the phone felt pretty warm.

You're in luck! Your phone is still covered by the one year Apple warrenty. I would visit your local Apple retail store, or contact Apple over the phone. They should be able to help you out best!

Using Airport Express With Sonos Components

The Sonos System wireless specs say not to use 802.11 N networks because it interferes with the Sonos mesh net. My question is does anybody have experience using 2nd Gen Airport Express network with Sonos.
I currently have my Airport Express advanced>wireless set to 802.11n (802.11b/g compatible). I am having connection problems however the 2nd Gen Airports don't give an option to not use 802.11N

Unfortunately I don't have much experience with the Sonos systems to offer any advice on, whether or not, it would be a better option than using the AirPorts ... even newer ones.
If you system has always been flaky, it may be due to limited bandwidth or excessive signal noise that is preventing AirPlay from streaming over a "clean" wireless network and not actually the AirPort hardware. If this is the case, then replacing the AirPorts would serve no real value.
