XFX Radeon HD 5770 Compatible with 890GXM-G65?

Anyone have issues installing an XFX Radeon HD 5770 video card with the 890GXM-G65?  Bought one and when I installed it, the fan was blowing but the card was extremely hot (smelled like something was melting).  Also my monitor didn't recognize a signal so the screen was black.  Returned that one, and although the second one was considerably cooler, nothing still appeared on screen.  Is this a compatibility issue?

Sorry about that, here are my specs:
Specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T
Mobo: MSI 890GXM-G65 bios v1.6

Storage -
1) OCZ Vertex 2 50GB SSD (Boot drive)
2) Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
GPU: XFX Radeon 5770 1GB DDR5
PSU: Corsair 650TX
Case: Antec 300 (Illusion)
OS: Win 7 (64-bit)

    I have a Macpro 2 x 3Ghz quad core Intel Xeon with 16gb RAM
Any suggestion to which card I should Purchase?

There are several threads here and abroad that mention the installer will notice and approve the ATI 5770 in older mac pros.
I just now bought a 5770 from Apple's online store for my 2007 Mac Pro 2,1 so I'd have the compatibility if I ever decided to upgrade -- assuming at some point they'll run out of stock and not make any more.
Keep in mind the 5770 has 1 dual link DVI and 2 mini display ports so you might need to pick up necessary adapters depending on your monitors.
Hopefully FCPX will be usable in the near future and an upgrade will be pragmatic.
(I sure hope they don't pull this stunt with the next Logic upgrade.)
I may have a 1900XT for sale soon.

  • MacPro3,1 w/ Radeon 2600, or 5770 compatible with 10.9?

Hi, I'm currently on MacPro 3,1 w/ 10.6.8 and I am using a Radeon 2600 HD, which works fine -- but I'm wondering if either the Radeon 2600 XT or Radeon 5770 HD will work fine on 10.9 Mavericks? I am only upgrading because Nexus2 by ReFX won't work on SL. It will be a disaster if I upgrade and neither video card is incompatible. Couldn't find a straight answer on the net. Any help would be great!

If you can afford to and find a card I would ditch the OEM 2600XT in a heartbeat, it is not well suited, lacks features now req'd, has a paltry 256MB.
Barefeats tests the big ones, AMD Mac 7950 is one choice, GTX 680 and 770. Keep the 2600 around for troubleshooting if needed and use a PC card, better price and has the performance, just lacks early boot video out.

  • ATI Radeon X1900 XT compatible with 30" display

My Mac Pro has the X1900 XT ATI Radeon video card (512 MB ver 2) and am wondering if anyone has heard of any compatibility issues of this video card with Dell's 20" display (model 3007 WFPt)?

The X1900 would have to go in double wide slot, you would have to run one or both at 8x.
I think something like ATI 2600 might make more sense. The 8800GT is listed as discontinued (have a thread or two about it being EOL). So unless you have the 8800GT may not be an option anyway.
The 4870 + 2600 combo would be best I can think of for us with 1st gen now.
This assumes you simply need to drive 3 monitors. And don't want to wait and see if the Nvidia eVGA GTX 285 (doubtful) will support 1st gen EFI32's.

  • Will this card work in 2008 Mac Pro? XFX Radeon HD 5770 850M 1GB DDR5 MINI HDMI DUAL DVI PCI-E (HD-577X-ZHL) (A)

Hi,  found, what looks like an interesting upgrade to my 2008 MacPro video.  This card works with Windows, UNIX and FreeBSD (the code from which is very much in MAc OSX)..  Anyone tried this card with success (or otherwise)?

Let's  assume you are running 10.8.3 as there is more support.
What did you have? what is your budget?
"work" can mean, there is no boot screen but once the system is loaded it does.
Will the output display ports work, it all  depends on how  close it is to the ATI reference design Apple uses.
Are you planning to flash it? there are site forums that can help recommend cards.
And if you work with CS6 and want to use Mercury Engine and have CUDA then you want nVidia GTX series.
I would see what Mac supported cards MacVidCards on ebay has.

when I attempted installation I have been unplugging the current boot drive.  The first screen I am given after selecting the us / english / keyboard stuff and clicking the "install now" is the screen asking for drivers.
I know that windows must be recognizing the raid drives because I could continue installation but only if I use the 32 bit drivers and corresponding os version.

  • Is the latest version of FCP studio compatible with Radeon X1600 graphics..

I read under the requirements that the latest version of FCP studio is not compatible with "integrated graphics cards"... what does that mean to me with an iMac that has a Radeon X1600 with 128MB and a bus type PCIe? Will it work?
    Thanks!

Final Cut Studio 2 (with FCP 6) runs just fine on my 2.0 GHz 20" iMac CD, which has a 128 MB ATI Radeon X1600 with an external display (1280x1024) connected via DVI.

  • Radeon HD 5770 graphics card works perfectly with my MAC Pro 1,1 and Adobe CS6. However, Photoshop CC won't read the card drivers and says I need to reinstall them and disabled 3D funtions as a result. Anyone else with this issue?

Radeon HD 5770 graphics card works perfectly with my MAC Pro 1,1 and Adobe CS6. However, I upgraded to Adobe CC and Photoshop CC disabled some filters and 3D functionality. The preference panel for Performance/Graphics Card in Photoshop CC is greyed out and inaccessible and shows this message -
"Photoshop detected an error in your display driver. Update or reinstall the driver and check Use Graphics Processor to retry."
I still have Photoshop CS6 installed and it still works perfectly. Anyone else with this issue? Is there a driver update for this compatable with my setup?

  • Is AMD Radeon r7 260x or Nvidia Gtx 750 Ti compatible with my PC?

Hi, I have a dell inspiron 3847 with intel core -5-4460 @3.2 GHZ proccessor and integrated intel hd graphics 4600.  I think my power supply has 300 watts but I am not sure.  I was wondering if an AMD Radeon r7 260x graphics card or an Nvidia gtx 750 ti card would be compatible with my PC.  I know that the nvidia card uses less power but it costs 40 dollars more so if an amd card can go with my power supply then I will get that.  Any help would be appreciated thanks.

R7 260X requires much larger power supply.    750 TI versions may need secure boot turned off.
ANY card longer than about 8.1 inches is not going to physically fit into the case.

  • Radeon 5450 compatible with IdeaCentre?

Hello, I'm looking to purchase the Lenovo IdeaCentre 1169XF1 (Is this the k330?) from Newegg: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883108695 and I'd like to buy a dedicated video card as well. However, the 280 watt power supply somewhat limits my options. After doing some research, I found that the Radeon 5450 consumes very little power. Unfortunately, I'm seeing a lot of people saying that the 5450 is not compatible with the Lenovo ThinkCentre line. Would this also be the case for IdeaCentre systems? Thanks.

I understand that it has a free PCI-e slot and that in theory, any card that fits should work, but like I said earlier, it's been reported by multiple sources that the 5xxxx series of Radeon cards aren't compatible with the ThinkCentre series motherboards. They fit, but the machines won't boot.
Here's an example from these forums:
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/A-and-M-Series-ThinkCentre/ati-5450-not-compatible-with-ThinkCentre-M57p...
Unless you're saying that you know that the IdeaCentre motherboards don't have the same restrictions?
A 6450 is an option, but it's slightly more expensive than the 5450 where I am, it's reported to have overheating issues and it's only negligibly more powerful than the 5450 for what I need it to do.

  • Is XFX TS 550W 80+ BRONZE compatible with p6-2207ep

Hi all, You can check my system here: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c03382032 I bought a XFX TS 550W 80+ BRONZE but some problems arose and I send it back cause it might be faulty but in the meantime I wanted to confirm if this PSU is compatible with my system or not and what BIOS configurations or downloads should or can I make. My current BIOS version is 7.11.I use HP support assistant for updates and no BIOS update appears there. Thx for your feedback !!!

It worked !!! I thought i had already reseted the bios but seems like using the menu didnt do it. The computer is now working as b4 thx god it isnt some damage on my hardware !!! Should I now access BIOS and save to default again ? I set the time manually in windows dont know if that is the best way to go around it anyways I am going to search about it. Btw the PSU is XFX the GPU is from MSI. How should i proceed now,  should I keep with the RMA and make sure its not faulty or the problems that arose with it are all explained by problems in the BIOS and there is no reason to be afraid of the new PSU? Thx alot again !!!

  • 890GXM-G65 working with 1,6v RAM - Is that ok?

Hello, folks. I built my first rig last year, with the 890GXM-G65, and I am considering a few updates, which made me realize that I made a mistake  . Now that I am more aware of things in a rig, I saw that my mainboard requires 1,5v RAM, but I have 2 x 2GB Corsair DDR3 1.333MHz TW3X4G1333C9 G (1,6v). I read somewhere that using memory with voltage higher than the mainboard can compromise or even burn the processor. Is that right? Is the 1,6v RAM putting my processor or the mainboard at risk?
I will replace the RAM for 4 x 4GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 (1,5v), but I don’t know if I can wait a little bit or if I should replace the RAM as soon as possible. All in all, my computer is working fine since day one, but I don't know if the mistake with the RAM is lowering its performance. Or maybe I was expecting too much of my Phenon II 1090T
    Here is my rig:
    - Windows XP (Win7 is driving me nuts)
    - 890GXM-G65 (no OC whatsoever)
    - 2 x 2GB Corsair DDR3 1.333MHz TW3X4G1333C9 G
    - Phenom II 1090T
    - Sapphire HD 6870
    - HD (OS) Seagate Barracuda 320GB
    I appreciate any comments,

I your Bios, if you look in the Cell Menu, there are available adjustments for memory. You can run 'Auto' or set specs to match your Memory specs, or Overclock. Although the manual States 1.5v, it is the Auto basics and can support 1.5v sticks. I looked at MSI under 'Test Report' and your current Corsair memory is on the tested list, as OK to use. If you memory specs ask for a different voltage value, you can manually set the voltage in your Bios under DRAM Voltage(V). Never adjust into the RED values. Setting to the suggested voltages for your sticks is proper, any other choice is Overclocking, or Underclocking. You can also set the timing and 1T/2T. Again this information is available at Corsair for your memory sticks. Do not think that MSI tested and qualified memory sticks are to be set at 1.5v, if the sticks call for a different voltage. At Corsair it shows TW3X4G1333C9G stick as 1.5v (you say 1.6v) and timing of 9-9-9-24. Double check at corsair to verify the values. That said if they are infact 1.6v memory sticks, then set the DRAM voltage to 1.6v. I do not see the Corsair Vengeance DDR3 CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 sticks at MSI test list as tested. That doesn't mean you can't use them.. just not on the tested list. You can verify that at Corsair.
    Good Luck

  • SLI compatiblity issues with NF980-G65

Hi, I consider myself average for tech knowledge.  Just enough to get myself into trouble.
I currently have a  NF980-G65.  I just upgraded to a second GTX 470 from nVidia for SLI.  However when I run any application that is SLI compatible the bottom half of the screen shakes and wobbles.  This happens even if I swap GPU positions on the board, so I know its not the GPU itself, and only happens when SLI is enabled.  I contacted nVidia, we troubleshot for a while, but they concluded it was the BIOS.  I tried finding an updated BIOS on the site, but it seems the latest version isn't compatible with Windows 7 64bit.
At this point I'm at a loss as to what to do to fix this.

Quote from: UnseenGuardian on 03-August-10, 03:31:05
I am having very similar problems, same mobo as you but different cards. I noticed this right away after building the rig and playing Starcraft 2, bottom half of screen glitches and flashes. Cards are both good. I have narrowed it down as well to something in the SLI bridge (or the way the PCI bus is used with the bridges connected), because once removed the problem goes away.
Now I have done benchmarking in Heaven Benchmark 2.0, and have found about a 3-5% drop in frame rates with the SLI Bridge REMOVED. This is not very significant, so at worse case scenario you could try leaving the bridge off and benchmarking to see if you get similar results.
I would obviously prefer to have a bridge for the extra boost in performance but with the glitches I would rather have them gone.
I would like to try this to see if I can have the best SLI performance and no glitching, mrinfinit3, could you help a guy out with a link to how you got your asus SLI bridge? I am concerned that if I buy a 'hard bridge' it won't fit as all mobo manufacturers seem to have slightly different distances between slots.
I'm sorry it took so long to reply to ya bud... ya here's the link http://estore.asus.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=229
I'm using 2 of them (one on each finger) you'll notice rite away that they fit better (more resistance when sliding the on)
I personally got mine from misc. asus builds Ive done for customers here in @ the shop. I have an asus hard bridge but it's slightly too long for the 16x-16x slots.. but since this issue has happened..
I'm getting a rather large collection of MSI bridges now. lol
