XFX Raedon Video Card unrecognized

Have new H405 with Windows 7 Home Premium. When I install an XFX Radeon HD 5450 in the slot and boot up, nothing comes on the screen (was previously using this same card on a Dell Inspiron 530 S to enable to monitors and it worked fine). Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mpippa

No, video card memory and system memory are completely independent of each other
Why do you need a new video card? What do you primarily use your system for? If you don't play any games, you may as well just stick with the onboard Geforce4 VGA, unless you need the 6200 for DVI or HD outputs
As far as TV cards go, I see you are in Canada, I don't know much about what TV signals you have over there, so you'd best  explain how you currently receive TV signals (through your aerial, through a set-top box) for better advice

  • New video card for HP Pavillion Elite HPE-170t

Hi, I'm starting to get some screen artifacts sporadically, Ithink my video card is starting to go bad. i want to get a new one, but I am not sure what will fit. My computer  HP Pavillion Elite HPE-170t:
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-860 quad-core processor [2.8GHz, 1MB L2 + 8MB shared L3 cache]
    8GB DDR3-1333MHz SDRAM
    1TB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive
1GB ATI Radeon HD 4850 [2 DVI, HDMI and VGA adapters]
    Lightscribe SuperMulti DVD burner
15-in-1 memory card reader, 1 USB, 1394, audio
    No TV Tuner
    Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium
I see by some other questions here several video cards suggested, but those replies were a few years old and those video cards are no longer available.
So, any suggestions on newer video cards under $200 that will pretty much fit and work as easily as possible? Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply.  I don't have another monitor to try, but the artifacts seem to sometimes move along with the mouse cursor. Sometimes I can scrill the artifacts away, other times the screen freezes.
I do have room for a double width card,  but I was looking at the XFX R7 250E 800MHz 1GB DDR5 DP HDMI DVI Graphics Card, which seems to be a newer model of the XFX AMD Radeon HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 . Both are single wide and don't need an extra power connection.

  • Xfx 8600 gts card

I love my Mac Pro (2 X 2.8 Quad Core) but I like it even more when it "plays" both OS X and Vista Ultimate (64 bit). I have two video cards in it-one the ATi 2600Xt and an XFX 8600 GTS that I already had when I bought the Mac Pro. OS X will not boot up when the XFX card is connected, but Vista seems to rate the GTS higher. Is there any way around this or am I bound to switching the ports each time I use a different OS?

    Thanks for the feedback.
If you were going to use XP I might try to dissuade though
If you want to play with a VM VirtualBox is open source and looks promising.

The hardest things to understand is that there are Mac supported memory and controllers, no BIOS, and Mac Pro uses EFI. If you want a "manual" on OS X then "Missing Manual" is a good investment. (I had a harder time to find a couple on Vista that would help answer all my questions!).

  • I want to upgrade my video card in my HPE H8-1020 - It is a Eyefinity Radeon HD6570

I want to upgrade my video card in my  HPE H8-1020 - It is a Eyefinity Radeon HD6570.  I want to upgrade to a professional monitor for photo editing and would like to know what is available?

    Jimg-evv, welcome to the forum.
What is the make/model of the monitor that you want to buy.  I will provide the information for you, but it would help me to know more about the monitor.
You can upgrade the video card.  However, most mid-level cards require at least 400W to operate properly.  The power supply unit (PSU) in the computer is 300W.  A card that would work for your needs would require a PSU upgrade, as well.
I recommend at least 500W; 600W would be even better because it would allow for future upgrades.  I like OCZ and Corsair PSU's.
You would need a PCI Express x16 video card.  I like XFX, EVGA, Sapphire and PNY in that order.  If you upgrade the PSU, this card should work for you.

  • Best $100+ video card for CS5 Web edition

I am trying to fine tune my build choices and hanging up on the video card. Having a hard time figuring out the importance (and need/benefits of) Open GL, Directx11, hacks, and all that stuff . As for Premire, I only have the elements 8 version. I have never edited video really and it will be a very small part of what I do. Any video editing I do will be mostly web quality output in the majority of time.  My primary computer use will be in PSCS5, Flash, Flash Catalyst, LR3, and Canon's DPP. Primarily for photo editing and some webpage building including the flash projects.
CPU is gonna be the i7-930 probably with a GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R LGA mobo. Some reasonably priced cards I have seen mentioned/used (but I honestly do not know the pros or cons of them) are:
    XFX Core edition GS250XZSL4 GeForece GTS 250 1gb and the GIGABYTE GV R570C - 1GI HD Radeon 5750 - both about $140.
Thought on these cards for my intended use? Anything less expensive that will perform the tasks I will be asking of it? ANy really good reason why I should consider a more expensive card like the Radeon HD 5770 Turbo 1 GB at $180?
    Thanks for your thoughts.

It uses less power, runs cooler and slightly quieter and the driver updates are more regular and better. But take a look here and compare them± http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/radeon-hd-5770,review-31704.html

  • Looking to upgrade the video card and power supply in the K330

Hello, I'm looking to upgrade the power supply and video card in the Lenovo IdeaCentre K330 but I need to know if these parts will be accepted by the mobo.
Here's the card name (no link, don't know if theres a restriction to off site links) ASUS 2GB GDDR5 DIGI+ VRM technology Graphics Cards HD7770-2GD5
The power supply name follows: Xion High Performance 1000 Watt ATX Power Supply XON-1000P14F
Thanks for reading, and extra thanks for a good reply

Thanks for replying, I have looked into other PSU's and came up with this: XFX PRO750W Core Edition 80+ Bronze ATX 750 Energy Star Certified Power Supply
Feedback? And main question is, will they both (video card and PSU) be compatible with the motherboard that come standard in the K330?
I don't really have a need for the front panel except the power, and backontrack buttons.
Also, the reason why I'm getting a high wattage PSU is because I might later decide to build my own PC with the upgraded parts, and put the old parts back into the K330

  • How do I know what video card will be compatable?

Hi,  I think I need a new video card, but I'm really not sure what new card will be compatable with my computer , an HP m9077c that operates with Vista.I see it has an Nvidia Geforce 8500 gt in it now, but looking for new ones to buy I see things like (XFX PVT 86JYAHG GEforce 8500 GT 450mhz 512mbgddr2svideo/dvi/vga/pci express16 ) for $35 , but then I see right next to it plain old GEforce 8500 gt for $111. What's the difference?I just want a replacement, it doesn't even have to be the same brand, as long as it will work as well or better. How can I tell which one will be compatable?

    Hi:
I would go for a newer video card like this one.
It should perform along the lines as your 8500 or better.

  • Best Video Card for the G5?

What's the best Video Card I can put in my G5?
    Currently I've got a:
Mac Dual 2.7 GHz PowerPC G5, w/4GB DDR SDRAM, and 256 MB total of VRAM. The existing graphics card is the: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT DDL
    Thanks!
    Matt

    Hi,
If you haven't noticed, there are only two choices available from Apple. The nvidia 6600 (slower than yours) and the ATI X800 (similar to yours).
There is a place that flashes Nvidia 7800's from PC to Mac, I installed one the other day and it works perfect in a Quad.
In addition, there was a contract signed last month between XFX and Apple for upgrade video cards for Mac G4's and G5's. It was reported that this merchandise may be available by Summer (nothing definite).

At the very end some guy tried to flip the SLI mini-board the other way around and it worked for him. I tried to do the same and it worked!!! I double checked the marking and the pictures in the guide and I can tell that right now this board is in SLI mode, even I have only one card running. It's a pitty that after dropping like ~260us on the board I have to deal with such an issue.
BTW, this is the power supply I have in my machine: http://www.sparklepower.com/pdf/FSP550PLG-SLI.pdf. So far didn't have any problem ... except the noise

  • MSI P6N SLI Platinum - Two Video Cards Non SLI

I have a P6N SLI Platinum that I am trying to get two video cards working at the same time, but not in an SLI configuration. I'm wanting to use them for 3 monitors at the same time. The cards are both Nvidia 8800GS, but one is by EVGA and one is XFX. Both cards work individually, but when trying to use both of them at the same time, Windows will not recognize them. I am currently running Windows XP Pro. Is this type of configuration possible with this motherboard? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

i think you will be told by msi to be able to use two card on one mobo you have to have sli enabled.

  • VIDEO CARD FOR MSI P35 Diamond

Hi - I bought a P35 diamond motherboard - and honestly its been trouble; its thrown boot exceptions on 2 graphics cards so far. I've read the manual - its a great motherboard I think personally - but it would appear to have some limits to what it takes manufacture wise... And the manual lists only quite old cards.
So my question is this - can you please tell me the card you have in your PC if you use this motherboard? - I would like to use an 8800gts - if someone can recommend a manufacturer to this card for me - or a better card - that you have actually working on your motherboard...
The manual says xfx 8800gts but the part number is not available in Europe it would appear.
    Thanks
    Jason

I do actually have a specific question -
I was asking the forum what video card they have running on that mother board?
I'm hoping to get a version of an 8800 but the design of the motherboard means its very limited in the brands/flavours of specific models. Gainward for instance does not work - in the 7600 and up. - although I only tried 3 gainwards.
I also tried a plain pci graphics card from my media center - and that caused similar problems.
I eventually got around the issue - when I tried someone really old PCI express card - and it worked fine.
Looking at tech specs on this motherboard is pretty useless - as they do not line up to implementations by various manufacturers; its pretty frustrating.
what I am really interested in is actual experience. Given the fact that its a relatively old board - I reckon the highest GCard users will have out there is the 8800GTS - and am just wondering does anyone have that - if so; who makes it -
Or indeed if you have that motherboard - what card do you have in it?
    Cheers
    Jason

  • How to SET or Configure BIOS to use XFX6200 TC video card for MSI K8N NEO4 Plat.

    Hello Friends,
Can any body help me to the following problem?
I am having XFX 6200 TC Geforce / nvidia Grafix card for my MSI K8N NEO4 Platinum Ultra board.
The BIOS states PCIE clock speed as 100 Mhz as default.  The setting can be changed upto 145Mhz.
My Video card can be configured upto 350 Mhz.  How to do this and which is the right way to use the display card with optimum setting?
Thanks for all those who reply to this.

    the coolbits link http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=815
to manually set the clocks on the graphic card, after installing coolbits, just follow the instruction on that page:
    Quote
Unpack the achive (self extracting) and then in the setup directory simply click on the .reg file. To get to these options simply right-click on your desktop and go to 'NVIDIA Analog Display' (Win XP/2003). For Win 2000 and lower you may need to get to the Nvidia Control Panel the old way. Right click desktop > Properties > Settings > Advanced > GeForce xxxx
for overclocking just take a look at the overclocking sections of the forum. make sure to read the stickies before you do anything.

  • 600 watt power supply questions and video card upgrade questions

I am looking to upgrade to a Xfx Radeon 7970 Double D graphics card but i was wondering if the HP 600w psu that came with my Hp Envy Phoenix H9-1350 has a 8 pin and 6 pin Pci-e connector because that is what the Radeon 7970 needs. Also I am wondering if it will fit into the Hp Envy Phoenix H9-1350 because the case seems small but the card is only 9.3" long. I currently have an Amd Radeon 7670 but I think it is time for an upgrade but I am just not sure if the power supply has the correct power connections needed for the Radeon 7970.
This is the card I am looking to get:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150665

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP+-+ENVY+Phoenix+Desktop+-+12GB+Memory+-+2TB+Hard+Drive/6890832.p?id=12...

I understand you want to know if the power supply will have the necessary connectors for the desired video card.
According to the specifications, it lists the case as a mini-tower which is on the small side.  You may need to use a tape measure to find out exactly how much room the system has in regards to length.  It has become much better, but other components (such as the HDD) were at the end of the PCIe slot limiting the length of a video card.  Sorry I couldn't provide anything more specific.  The manuals are somewhat vague as far as the internal dimensions and I don't have access to one to verify the dimensions.
Ordinarily, I can find more information regarding the power supply not that seems not to be the case here.  According to this thread, the PSU has two 6 pin PCIe connectors.  You would need something like this to convert one of the 6pin connectors to 8pin.  As long as the PSU is capable of pushing enough watts, it shouldn't be an issue.  The card needs up to a 500W power supply, so the 600W power supply should be just enough to cover it.
