XGL everything goes to white [SOLVED]
So I had XGL working really really well a couple months ago, and then an upgrade changed all that...and I was really enjoying XGL so I'd like to get it working again. I recently just tried to reinstall it and I have the same problem as before.
It seems to be starting up just fine, and all the effects work, but unfortunately, things start to go white after awhile.
For instance, the Gnome menubar, on first click will appear normal, but then as I move the mouse over menu items, they all go blank, aka turn to white. If I open up a program, like firefox, it will look fine, but refresh the page, or move the window around, and it goes all blank as well. Eventually the background and menubars blank out as well, and its completely unusable. If I reopen something, initially it will look fine, but eventually turns to white.
Does anyone know what could be causing this? I've had trouble searching a problem cause I'm not sure how to describe it!

Photoshop error, everything goes white.
Hi! So I just recently bought my new Intuos 5 touch, after I installed it my photoshop has gone completely mad. Everything goes white and I can't see any of the buttons. Has this ever happened to anyone? (Checked embed screenshot)
The only way I can "temporarily" fix it is to guess where the x-button is, and press enter to save the image I was working on and then reset photoshop. But the problem just re-occurs like 5 minutes later.There are some very long posts about Wacom dirvers and Mavericks OS. Is this you?

My MacBookPro (mid 2012) will not complete the boot process. Yosemite's progress widget gets about 1/3 to 1/2 way across when the logo disappears and the screen goes all white for 10-15 secs, then the machine shuts down and restarts. This sequence will repeat seemingly forever unless I shut it down manually.
I upgraded to Yosemite from Mountain Lion a couple months ago, skipping Maverick completely, and I've done any associated updates that Apple told me about. I don't recall which version of Yosemite I have, but I'm sure it is the "latest and greatest".
I've tried re-starting in Safe Mode / Safe Boot and that does the same thing as described above except without the endless restarts. Instead of restarting at some point, SafeBoot proceeds to the white screen and then it hangs until I restart it manually. (I've waited as long os 20-30 minutes with no response).
When I tried the option-command-p-r key combo I never get any chimes or other noises besides the original 1 time boot sound that you would expect to get when starting up a macbook pro.
I was using the mac quite normally (meaning I was doing work I normally do on it and there was no indication of anything wrong) immediately prior to this happening.
The machine is BootCamp(ed) with Windows 8.1 which I use from a VMWare virtual machine instead of natively so that I can have both OSes running at the same time. I also think this is unrelated to my problem. I have been using this setup for more than 2 years.
My upgrade to Yosemite was uneventful and I thought it went well and was very smooth. I don't want to lead attention away from Yosemite, but at this point my problem does not seem related to the upgrade.

Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless. -
Out of the blue my sim card is no longer recogniced and i got a "sim invalid" window. once i reboot the phone everything goes back to normal. What can i do to solve this trouble?

Audiobook problem ever going to be solved?
Is the problem with the audiobook folder ever going to be solved? The one where you can't get the audiobook file into the audiobook folder, no matter what you do? (Including converting, deleting, copying into different folder, and moving back to iTunes several times.)
This is getting to be really annoying.

The default font remains Myriad Pro until you change it, either in the RGB/CMYK Startup files or in the preferences, options depending on versions.
Concerning missing font names, I believe this may solve it:
Open System Preferences and go to Accessibility. Next, select Display from the source list along the left, then check the box labelled Reduce transparency.

can't reload Photoshop elements 7 on my windows 7 operating system. Everything goes well and it appears to be installing. All of the sudden the Installer starts to roll back everything and error message shows up saying I can't use this product at this time.
How do I do that? I'm the only user on the laptop - I kind of assumed I already was running the install as the admin.

Everytime I go to full-screen mode the photo I am working on is on one space while the filmstrip is on another. Also there is no way to get to the menu on top as it is hidden. When I hit the f key everything goes to black and I have to quite the program. This is the first time I have any problems with Aperture.
I run aperture 3 on OS X 10.7 iMac 27" 2.8GHz i7 16GB.

What I usually do for PDF pages/tabs, is click in the URL/location bar, then F11.<br />
For Flash, if you click on the page outside of the video area/box, F11 should work. -

Can someone please help? Recently just had my iPhone 4S reconnected. I've now waited the 24 hours that you need to wait till everything goes back to normal. However on a phone call I can hear whoever I'm calling but they can't hear me?
i had the same problem a few weeks ago and i had only had my 3g iphone for a few weeks. It was as if i was on permanent mute. I could hear others fine, but they couldn't hear me, even if i used speakerphone or even a bluetooth.
i took it to an apple store and they did a real quick test (they first did a system restore, then they took my phone and tried calling another employee). Once they validated it wasn't working, they replaced my phone quickly with no questions asked. Just make sure to back up everything on I-Tunes before you go in so that you dont lose any info. might want to do the restore before you go in, as well, otherwise you'll have to wait for them to do it at the store, which takes them 15 mins or so.

iPad crash and reboot; you may want to try the following:
(A) Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
(B) Try reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings for Wi-Fi, FaceTime, Message, Home Sharing will be reset
