XH-A1 dark colors

hey
just got done shooting some footage with out brand new XH-A1 and was disappionted with the "dark colors", especially black and dark blues that didn't turn out...
they look grainy when played back...what's the reason for this?
all other colors look great and sharp, but the blacks just aren't up to par, is that due to insufficient lighting and if so can that be corrected through settings in the camera (white levels?)
appreciate any help...just getting into this stuff....very exciting!
Thanks
~Will-i-am~

hey
ok...I guess I'll just start asking the questions then.....
when shooting in low light situations how do you eliminate the graininess?
what settings have to do with graininess in low light situations?
I'm guessing there are no filters you can add during editing to help this?
Thanks

  • When painting a light over a dark, at low opacity, i am getting an even darker color. How to fix?

I'm using version 1.4, running on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. Both when I set the pen pressure to opacity control, and when setting the brush to an overall lower opacity, my light color turns a reddish dark where it overlaps my dark color, almost as though i'm using the burn tool. i havent noticed this problem before, and i've been constistenly using pstouch to paint, since i bought this tablet nearly 3 weeks ago. I'm painting a dark muted orange over a slightly darker, slightly more intense (but still mainly muted) red. It looks almost like a watermark effect. each transparent brushstroke has sort of a fringe around it where it looks as though simulated pigments collect in a concentrated way, creating a dark ring around my slightly less dark  brush mark.
This might be related to a color picker problem i have consistently noticed. it seems that the color picker tends to pick darker versions of the colors i sample. this might have something to do with the fact that my brush is usually set up with less than 100% opacity, and maybe, for some reason, the color picker is programmed to compensate for that. In any case, the color sampler doesnt work fully as it should, and this obviously affects my ability to use lowered opacity to blend colors together.
That said, even when i sample a color, then manually lighten it to match the lightness of the sampled color, i still get a burn tool effect when making transitions between my slightly darker and slightly lighter warm mute dark colors, using a color with lowered opacity. the only way to make the lighter color lighter than the darker color, is to simply bring it to full opacity, but then i get no transition between the the colors.
I assume this is a bug that needs to be fixed, but if anyone knows of anything i might be able to do in order to solve this problem, I'd really appreciate it.

Actually, here's a clearer image. The middle stroke is with 20% drawing smoothness, and 100% pressure strength.
The top stroke is 100% both, and the bottom is 100% drawing smoothness with 20% pressure strength.
In all three instances, the dark watercolorish ring persists.

  • Occasional pixelation on darker colors

I am having a display issue with my MacBook (mid-2007)
I am getting occasional pixelation on darker colors. The pixels turn redish/purplish/pinkish...If I press on the screen near the Apple logo (on the top cover) and on the lcd screen I can sometimes get the issue to go away.  When I plug in an external monitor the pixelation does not show up on the external monitor but will stay on the laptop lcd display.  I do have windows also installed and the pixelation shows up in windows as well....
So my thinking that it is likely an issue with the LCD cable or LCD dispaly....
I don't mind taking on a project...I have no issues trying to fix this thing myself...Any thoughts of things I should check or try?

Well...I was curious so I took the LCD bezel off and removed the LCD and bracket.  The issue is with the data display cable or the LCD screen.  Tapping/pressing on that connection clears up the issue for a bit.  Is there a way to "tighten" up that connection?   Any thoughts anyone?
    Thanks!

  • Problem: eyedropper tool gives me darker color

Hi all, I hope someone can help me with my problem. I'm on motion 3.0.2 that i have been using for a while but now I have a problem I can't find an answer to. For the past months, the eyedropper tool of any color property and effects gives me a darker color than what I click on. It's the same color but darker, a real hassle when trying to match two colors. Help anyone? Thanks

I've noticed this at times. I have no solution.

  • How do I change beige tabs with white text to beige tabs with black (or some other dark color) text?

Classic Restore changed by FF 29 tabs to beige with black text on the active tab and to beige with white text on the other open tabs. The white text is not visible. How do I change the white text to a darker color?
If this cannot be done, is there a way to reinstall FF 29 with just the security updates (and not all the other gimmicks) so that I can retain my FF 28 settings? Thank you.

    # Open the Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A; Mac: Command+Shift+A), then the Extensions category.
    # Next to Classic Theme Restorer, click the Options button.
    # Click the Custom Colors tab, then the Tab (active/hover/default) tab below that.
    # Below Tab (active), check "Text", then click the color swatch and pick black.
    # Click the Tab (unread) / New Tab tab.
    # Below Tab (unread), check "Text", then click the color swatch and pick black.

  • Canon Pro9000 Mark II prints dark color tones muddy on gloss paper

Boss accidentally bought gloss print paper, but I figured that might work out for our art renderings. However the ink bleeds... strangely, only on dark color tones. Image is below. It's a Canon Pro9000 Mark II.  It seems to be dark tones that bleed only. The light gray is perfect, and even a well-saturated yellow-orange looks decent. It doesn't appear to be the saturation or amount of ink that is the problem, but the darkness of the color. Is it the printer, the paper, or the ink? Is there a solution?

It really doesn't matter if you don't have the proper profile for the paper.  Do you?  If not you really can't use that paper at all.  You might try to see if another profile will work but that is mostly fool's play.  The correct profile is mandatory. Most good paper suppliers provide the correct ICC profiles for their paper.  Canon, Red River, Moab, Artic, etc.

  • IMovie '11 Exports are distorted with dark colors.

Hello everyone, I have a bit of a problem with iMovie 11 exports. I usually capture video games with an HD PVR (.mp4 files)
Once I import those videos - without converting them to .mov or any DV formats, I edit, export, and save the video to my desktop. However, once I watch the videos- no matter what format I save it in- the video comes out a little disorted, or blurry, and you can specifically see the problem with the dark colors and any darkened spaces in the videos. Anyone with the same problems/solutions?

The blurry video is likely caused by the de-interlacing of the video.  iMovie doesn't handle interlaced video properly where Final Cut Pro does.
The dark color are likely caused because you are comparing a video from your television on your computer screen.  Video on the computer screen always looks much darker than your television.  They are different color spaces, TV (yCbCr) and Computer RGB.

  • Cannot read track number box if using dark color configuration

The color options are fantastic in 3.0 but for one single problem. If configured to a dark color - I use a very deep blue - the Track number box in multitrack mode cannot be read without putting the cursor in the window (then it blinks brightly because it is highlighted and ready to be relabeled). It seems that it needs to be programmed to show against any color configuration, without having to place the cursor there.

    >So who decided to "fix" it?
Hmm... this all happened with AA2.0 initially - and that was done to an Adobe corporate (grey) plan, to all intents and purposes. There are some things that are bigger than all of us, it would seem...
I suppose that in an ideal world, a lot of people would say that being able to 'skin' Audition would be the answer, but that doesn't really do it for me, I'm afraid. My attitude to this is quite simple; Audition is a tool, and I don't care what colour it is, as long as it works properly. Yes, it should look okay, but mostly that's to do with being able to see what's necessary at any given time, and by and large, I can.
But, doing what you want could be regarded as an option, and as I've said elsewhere, I think that options are a Good Thing. The only snag is that I rather suspect that more colour options will come some way down the priority list -
unless, that is, they are easy to do. In that case you perhaps stand a better chance!

  • How to avoid darker color behind a gaussian blur effect?

I have used the effect gaussian blur with black text on top to make a logo.
My problem occures when I try to place the file on a coloured background e.g. a photo and print it. A darker colored area appears behind the gaussian blur. The logo is to be used by others and hence I would like to keep it a vector/illustrator file (not a pixelated photoshop file).
    - I have saved it as an ai
    - I have all the artwork in one layer
    - I have tried object > flatten transparency (but then the area turns white)
    - I have tried effect > Document raster effects settings (resolution 1200 dpi / add 35,28 mm around object)

    - I use Illustrator CC v. 17.1.0. 64-bit
    - the file is cmyk and I only use process colors
    - the line is 8 pt and effect is applied with 8 px blur
    - everything else in the document is outlines and some text and lines are crossing the blurred object
    - color settings: European coated offset ECI
I hope I haven't missed anything. The logo is not launched, but I have enclosed I photo file that is similar and where the same problem occur. The file is placed in InDesign on a blue square and printed from InDesign to a OKIC8660 laser printer.
The light blue to the left is the correct color. The darker blue is not supposed to happen. The yellow is where the gaussian blur is applied.

  • When I am streaming videos there is a dark green tint to the darker colors on the screen.

When I am streaming a video, there are dark green shades to some of the darker areas on the screen.  For instance if someone in the video has dark hair, there are green tints to the hair.  It almost looks like a color negative, but not quite.  This has just started happening.   I've had my mac book pro for about 2 months.

Could you please give us a picture of what is going on. This is a picture of what the top of Safari looks like when I go to the Help menu. I typed in the word cache and a number of options appeared below. Is this not happening for you?

  • CS3 PRINTING VERY DARK COLOR PRINTS ISSUE

    Hi,
    This is the situation:
I work on an Eizo CG241W calibrated monitor, and Epson 9880, 9800 and 4800 printers profiled with i1 PRO and EYE-One Match Software. But recently we made a move from Windows to Mac, and since then the color prints are being printed much darker then they used to. I havent been able to figure out was causing it. The issue is the same with all printers.
With the black and white prints printed in Advanced B&W and selecting "normal" (not dark, or darker...) they come out perfect. Just as in the screen. But not the color prints. I need to make them really look very very light on screen to get them where they should. Before I needed to make them lighter, but not as much as now. Same images and files Im talking about. Ive used Epson canned profiles and im having same results, variations, but as dark as with the created profiles.
Thanks for reading and any help on this.
    Best,
    Alex

    Hi,
Thanks Seth, Ballard, Lundberg, and everybody.
The problem has been solved but the mystery remains.
The issue wasnt in the steps needed to print. Thats what I do in the studio where I work most of the time. We calibrate monitors daily and the printers every month more or less. Ive been doing it here for over a year with no problem. This started when we changed platforms and equipment.
However, tired of this, we decided to wipe out clean the printers mac station. Reformat, reinstall all software and drivers, reconfig, etc. And now is working. What was the problem? Who knows.
    Thanks again to all,
    best,

  • After upgrading to version 4, maximizing my Firefox browser window changes the menu, navigation, and bookmarks bars to a very dark color scheme

When the window is 'floating', the colors are normal. Maximized, the background color is near-black and the text has a glowing appearance. I downloaded and and applied a different theme in trying to fix the problem, to no avail. I have never used a dark theme for Firefox, so it should not be a buggy recurrence of an old setting.

You just need more RAM for the software you are using. Yosemite likes a lot of RAM and an SSD.

  • Darker colors on the borders of the screen on a W701

    Hello,
I have a new W701 2500 with the RGB LED screen, and the colors appear darker in the borders of the screen, most noticeably in the top left border. I see a solid color as a gradient, and I have noticed it just by browsing a web page, not looking for it specifically. I'm sitting centered in front of the screen. Although I have a w701, I'm no graphics expert, but I enjoy the superb screen and I find this gradient annoying. Is there anything I can do?
    Thank you for your help.

Can you post a photo of your screen?
Sorry for the delay, I've been busy at work.
Here is a photo taken with my cell phone of an orange background:
    orange bakground
In the photo it is much worse than in real life, my phone's camera is not very good.
To illustrate the issue better, I have created this test image:
    test
In this image, the left rectangle in the center and the one in the upper left corner are the same color, while the rectangle in the right has a darker/redder color. If I place the image in the lower-right part of the screen, the colors appear as I described (there are small differences due to the camera, when I look at the screen I see o difference between the center-left and top-left rectangles):
    lower right
But if I place the image in the upper left part of the screen, the upper left rectangle is much more similar to the center rectangle in the right, which is redder:
    upper left
I have moved around red, green and blue images, and I have noticed a similar effect, subjectively stronger in red, less in green, and nearly none at blue. I can see how the color changes as I move the rectancle to the top. Initially I thought that the effect was higher on the borders, but now I think it is most noticeable on the top of the screen, specially on the top-left.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Photoshop darker colors on pc how to save so it looks same on mac?

I'm using CS5 and I create a lot of darker textured websites but when I view them on Mac's, they look a lot lighter and some of the blending is lost because things now are lighter. Is there anyway that I can save out images on my PC so that they will look the same for web viewers who are on a Mac? The only solution I see is making my original layouts even darker but then they don't look as good as I want them for PC users.
    Any ideas?

If color consistency is critical for your web work:
    1) make sure your own display is set up properly. Calibrate!
    2) convert your images to the color profile of sRGB
    3) when "saving for web", be sure to check the box to include the sRGB ICC color profile.

  • Strange mark on screen when darker colors appear over the area

I just noticed this today. When I view an image with a black screen or darker shades of gray a weird white mark appears in front of the color. I realize this is most likely a problem ON the physical display. Basically, I'm wondering if this can be fixed and if it would be covered under warranty. You can see a picture of it here: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d19/footballman2399/IMG_0001.jpg

If you are talking about that ghostly, banana-shaped crescent on the right side of the picture you linked, that looks like what happens when there is crush damage to an LCD's light spreader. I have seen that kind of pattern on notebook screens where people have accidentally dropped something on top of the closed lid, or else even accidentally stepped on the closed notebook getting out of bed or under a pile of newspapers or something like that. Or another scenario is putting it in a case and packing it into the trunk of a car and piling heavy things on top of it and taking a trip with the case packed like that.
Is the lid on the MBP dented from above in that area? If it's under warranty and shows no signs of external abuse, you might be able to get the LCD panel replaced by Apple for free under the assumption that it left the factory in that condition, e.g. a manufacturing defect. But more likely than not Apple will claim it is abuse and won't fix it under warranty. But you can always try.
