Xha1 24F footage Video plays fast but Audio is normal. PPro 2.0

Hey Gang, I am having some trouble with my 24f footage from my xha1 into PPro 2.0. I have installed the canon F presets and imported footage using the 24f setting but when I play it back in the timeline my video/audio is out of sync. Even when I export it nothing changes. My video is playing to fast, but my audio is normal. I have played around with unlinking footage and trying to find the correct video speed, with no luck. I have also tried using the footage on 30f timelines with no luck either.
I have looked around for the answer but nothing of this particular issue has come up.
Any thoughts?

Apart from the much better job done by freeware like HDVSplit or shareware like Scenalyzer, than has ever been delivered by Adobe for $$$, it is worth noting that all HDV cameras, like the H1, A1, G1, Z1 and all the other models available, have one thing in common. They all use a tape recording mechanism.
People often forget that this tape mechanism runs at a pre-defined speed, enabling 50Hz (PAL) or 60Hz (NTSC). Nothing else. Even if you set your camera to 24P or 24F or whatever other settings are available in the camera, the tape speed is not changed. The tape runs at the same speed regardless of your camera settings. Keep that in mind when capturing.

Premiere Pro CC 2014 - Video playing faster than audio - Out Of Sync?

Hi All, It's been some time since I've had to write about any problems here. Sooo, I've got Adobe Premiere Pro CC 7.2.2. (Using AJA KONA IoExpress BoB)   I've imported a 5 minute AVI file (video=1920x1080, Data=65587kbps, Total=66355kbps, 30fps. - - - Audio=768kbps, Channels=Mono -and/or- Stereo, 48kHz) from my Livestream HD-500 Digital Recorder as I have been doing successfully for some time now.. .   The video file plays just fine using windows media player but when I inport into a new project. The visual Video is out of sync. So i got a call from AJA (the Manufacturer of my IoExpress Break out Box for Premiere)
Here's the Scoop:
1. When Programs "AutoUpgrade" it's common for some or all Settings to revert to their Default Settings.
2. Adobe Premiere CC auto-upgraded yesterday when I wasn't looking... (paying attenion)
3. In Premiere, Preferences>Playback>AudioDevice was reset back to "AdobeDesktopAudio".
4. I reset the reset back to AJA KONA IoExpress, and WALLA! It Works Great!
I hope this post will help others stuck in this seemingly unfixable situation. My clients will be very happy today. :-)

Just for some reinforcement on this subject, these are the settings recommended by Aja for running their hardware in CC 2014:
Make sure you audio is configured like this:
1. In your MacPro System Preferences:
    Set the input for Line in.
   Set the output for Built in.
2. In your PremierePro Preferences:
   Set the Audio Hardware for Built-in Output.
   Set the Audio Output Mapping for Built-in Output.
   Set the Playback for Audio Device on the KONA audio.
You will likely have to reboot after making any changes.
We are running Kona 3, 3G and I/O 4k systems and this basic setup is needed for all our systems or we have intermittent audio playback issues.

Audio is not decoding properly on text messages sent from Motorola Android. Video plays fine but audio is unintelligible chirping.

I have iphone4. Some inbound text messsages with imbedded video clips do not play the audio properly. Audio chirps as if bad decode. Is there firmware/software updates or other apps to help with this issue?

Harm, I didn't pay attention to those settings, I should have. I got hung up in the preset names and figured those were my only choices. How green I am, lol. I made a preset with a Target of 4 (max 6) and VBR 1 Pass, and I knocked the audio down to 128K being it's just speech, and it all worked great. The new file plays in both players perfectly and also plays on my iPad with no jitter. Filesize is about 240mb but that's fine, it works. Problem solved and in the books. BTW, I use a GTX570.
Jim, I agree, VLC is super, it was the only player that would play 5D Mark II files right out of camera back in 2008, on my dual core Dell laptop with a cheesy Nvidia 7900 graphics card. Problem is, the majority of people I'm sending these MP4s to are Mums & Dads in our church, etc, and you know quite well that those folks are running some consumer Dell or HP setup they bought at Costco on closeout.
Funny backstory, when the 5D2 came out in Sept 2008, that was what thrust me into video. So I immediately bought the Prod Premium CS4 Suite (already owned Photoshop for a few years being a stills guy) and installed it on that Dell 17" laptop I mentioned above. After getting the 5D2 finally in Jan 2009, I actually had the nerve to take my first attempt at creating a video in Premiere and encoding it on that laptop. I literally had to kill AME partway through because I was seconds away from burning out my processor (I had been using RealTemp because of how hot that thing ran using Word, lol). It was that event that made me convince myself to start researching how to build a real editing PC (using an i7 920 at the time). I probably drove Harm nuts back then with all my questions, lol! But this rig has been my workhorse and has been through countless upgrades, the only thing remaining from the original 2009 build is the case and the power supply.
I know, you guys didn't need all that info, just felt like shooting the breeze. Thanks again!

Youtube video is blank,but audio played well. other browser such as chrome got no problem with it. FF Developer Edition.

FCP 6 XDCAM-HD - video plays fast

Hi All,
I have a strange issue, hope to get some help here. When I import a xdcam-hd 1080i60 35Mbps VBR video in FCP 7 time-line it plays fine. But the same clip when imported in FCP 6 the video plays fast (something like 2x time).
Any ideas please share.

Check your render settings, most probably it was set at 50%. You need to set them to 100%. This happen when you work with XDCAM HD.

If you use an HDMI cable, the audiostream will be integrated, so there will be sound when using an HDMI cable!
Not necessarily. That only works as stated if you have one of the most recent MBP's that has a built-in HDMI port.
If the MBP only has a Thunderbolt or miniDisplayPort, you need an appropriate adapter cable and even if you use an HDMI adapter or cable to connect to your HDTV there is no guarantee it will carry audio. You have to determine if your specific MBP model supports audio out through its miniDisplayPort or Thunderbolt output, and whether the adapter does likewise.

AVI file video plays too fast, but audio and noted length correct

I have a one minute AVI file. Premiere correctly says the frame rate is 29.97 and it is 60 seconds long. But when placed in the time line the video plays at about 6x speed and is finished in 10 seconds. The audio keeps playing for the correct 60 seconds. I rendered it and no change. Any ideas?

Does Streamclip allow you to choose between Type 1 and Type 2 DV AVI? If so then you want Type 2 in your conversions.

MPEG-4 video gives still but audio plays FW 3.1.3

Hi, I have a Iphone 3GS 32 with 3.1.3 installed and discovered that MPEG-4 files don't play video and some H264 video stops after c.a. 40 seconds for c.a. 60 seconds.
I have tried to convert with Itunes, but Itunes gives the message that the fileformat is correct and does not have conversion neceserry.
Withe the MP4 issue the audio sounds good and my screen is displaying a stil with a green bar right below. On 3.1.2 everithing was all right. I have tried to downgrade to 3.1.2 but that is restricted.
I have checked the playing of the same files on my old 3G 16 with 3.1.2 and the files are playing well.
I also discovered with playing H264 files that the stop after ca 40 seconds for 1 minute and then go on. The movie time us running from 0:40 - 1:48 but audio and video stops. After the 1:48 the movie is continuing well????
In the Ipod discussions i saw same issue wit FW 3.1.3, but i have posted it also in the Iphone discussion.
Hopefully Aplle fixes this verry soon!!

I have downloaded the latest Danuisoft DVD ripper and ripped the movies again and they run in 320*240 H264 and MPEG-4 format.
Strange that they run in the 3.1.2 FW and not in the 3.1.3 FW. Maybe someting to dow with the solved MPEG-4 flaw.
So now i have to convert my 30 movies again.

I am concerning also the right choice of the 3GS. It is faster, but i get anoying messages about diverting when i call somebody, i have to convert my movies again. But stil its faster.
On my good old 3G that was jailbroken and i could customize al the anoying messages and now Apple is avoiding all this customizing by FW's that could not be customized. Why not an open system so that i can choose by miself as user of a beautyfull piece of technology that supports me on the road with Phone, Internet, AV, Entertainement and Land/Nautical Navigation aids.
So next sunday it wil be bad wether so that i can take the time to do the converting work.

No video in monitor,but, audio plays when playing timeline CS5.5.1

In one sequence only, no video plays in monitor, but, audio is heard. What have I done ?
The same H.264 mov clips when set in new sequence plays ok ?

I accidentally hit Toggle Track Output "EYE" Key and, disabled the monitor, to the left of the Opacity handle, in 6 years on other Premiere Pro I have never done that , the darkened display did not help, even Automate to Sequence seemed to disappear in CS5.5.1. But, all is now well thanks to you both it gave me the clue.

Premiere cc 14 video is freezing but audio plays? Mac

I am in OS 10.9.3 3.5ghz intel for i7 iMac 32 gb memory, and timeline playback works for a while and then freezes, but audio continues to play. This is really slowing down the edit. Help Please? !

If Safari is the only browser you are having problems with dealing with QT see if the following is of any help:
To fix a QT related problem w/Safari, quit Safari & look in the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder (this is the Library folder at the root level of your HD, not the one inside your Users/user name folder).
Try removing the VLC Plugin.plugin (if you have it) & QT Plugin.plugin files from this folder, & then relaunch Safari. If the problem isn’t fixed, a different plug-in may be to blame. Keep removing files from this folder (start with any third-party plug-ins that are present) until the problem disappears.
Replace the plug-ins that don’t cause any problems.

Video motionless but audio running normally

When I play the sequence the video is still while the audio runs normally. When I stop, the video jumps to the stopping point.
How can I fix it?
My project Settings are: Format HD,Use: Custom Setup, Rate: 23.98fps.
Sequence Preset: XDCAM EX 1080p24 VBR, Capture Preset: Generic Capture Template,
Device control preset: non-controllable device.

I'm guessing that you are reporting these settings as per what is shown when you look in the Easy Setup window ... but it does not tell us what format the source footage you are using in your sequence is (for that you need to select a clip instance in the timeline and press Cmd-9, then report the format details displayed), nor does it tell us what are the active sequence settings in your current sequence (for that, with the sequence open and the sequence window active, you need to press Cmd-zero and then report the settings details displayed). Given all those details then its likely someone will be able to help you.

Video is faster than audio after capture....

This is a problem that keeps popping up here and there. It's weird. I will do a capture from a Mini DV tape to a external Firewire drive and when you play the clip in FCP the video is played faster than the audio. When you put it on the timeline the audio is the correct duration but the video plays much faster and then just has black to finish out the clip.... The really funny thing is that when you go directly to the clip in the finder and open it with Quicktime it plays just fine. But when you put it back into FCP (new project and everything) it will just keep playing the video faster than the audio...

Ok so after converting it in the quicktime player to a NTSC/DV DVCPRO video at 29,97 fps I open it in fcp and it tries to stretch it and to be like a 720p video file. I am really getting annoyed with this crazy stuff. I will export a little segment and you can play with it. See if you can make heads or tails.

Captured video playing fast

hi i have no clue what is causing this but i have it fixed now but would like to know why this happens to fix it faster in the future. this have also happened to me in the past so its not a one time thing.
ok so im captureing video off my mini dv camera (6min of video with audio) and its capturing fine. i save the video and all is fine. when i brought the video in to the source preview window or the sequence and play it back the video is speed up like it only captured one frame every 10 frames (this is what it did) but the audio is find but out of sync.(like you speed up the video sepetetly from the audio) so i tried to recapture. same thing. i do this 3 times before i get it captured correctly. i capture some more clips fine then another part of the tape starts doing the same thing then eventually fixes its self.
any one know what could be causing this? it may seem like not a problem to you but i dont want to spend 20 min capturing 6 min or video.

the camera is a panasonic pv-gs80 that im useing as a capture cam for my sony dcr-vx2000. i have used this meny time with cs3 and cs4 with no problem. the camera is connected through the built in 1394 port on my dell insperon 1525.

No Video (mimetype error) but audio

I'm trying to post a video. I have it as an mp4, ogv, webm, and flv. And I have the following tags in my page

When I have the videos in this order, Firefox (18.0.2, Mac) will display the following message:
Video format or MIME type is not supported
but it will play the audio.
If I reverse the two video tags Firefox, will play fine. But, then Safari shows no video (but, plays sound). Since I want the mp4 as the primary, what could be causing Firefox NOT to skip the first (mp4) video tag and move on to the ogg one?
I'm confident my MIME types are correct. This is my .htaccess file:

You can place the two files in one video tag and use the source tag to specify the various formats.
If it is encoded as WebM, why don't you give it a .webm file extension or specify the type as video/ogg if you use an ogg container?

Also make sure that the ogv video is encoded with a supported codec, try to open the file directly in a tab to see if that works.

Video plays with no audio in Keynote

[FOLKS: please disregard this question. I couldn't find the answer I needed when I searched which is why I posted. However, after posting, the "related questions" actually had one that fixed it. For future reference, it's this one. Thanks anyway.]
I have a new iPad2 and just got Keynote. My main desktop is a PC. I moved a Powerpoint file over to the iPad, but the movies wouldn't play because they were WMV files.
OK, so I used Handbrake to convert them to M4V, and imported them on the iPad. Great so far.
I go to "Media/ipad movies" and the videos are there. If I play them in the preview mode, they work fine. But when I actually stick one in a slide in the presentaion itself, it plays fine, but there's no sound!
I thought it might be something I did in converting, but since it plays in preview, I'm baffled. Any ideas? Thanks!

Found the answer elsewhere and it worked for me!
I had this same problem and this resolved it for me:
-Go to your "Settings" icon and click on the "General" tab.
-About 2/3 way down the page you will see "Use side switch to:" - make sure "mute" is checked rather than "lock rotation."
-Then make sure the side switch, located next to the volume toggle switch on the side of your ipad, is moved to the right (no red dot showing).
My audio worked fine in embedded videos after I did those two things. Hope it works for you.
