XI 3.0 SR1 Install and Config.

Hello Guru's,
I have read the XI 3.0Sr1 installation guide, the only part i didn't quite catch was about the Adapter Engine installation for Business System. Can anyone be kind enough to explain that to me ? I am quite new to this XI concept..
The scenario is :
Systems : SAP R/3 Enterprise 47x200 Sr1 - WebAS 620
          SAP CRM 4.0 - WebAS 620
          SAP BW 3.5 - WebAS 640.
          External Non-SAP Systems
I will be doing the XI install on a single server, which will have the WebAS 640 ABAP + Java, Adapter Engine and rest of the stuff.
Question is the XI install doc says that the Business Systems should have a WebAS 640 JAVA instance to host the Adapter Engine. Now where does this fit into..do i need a separate server for this, as our R3 and Crm systems are on WebAS 620.
Thanks for your help..
Regards
Nainesh

Hi Nainesh -
The Adapter Engine(AE) installation section(s) refer to an optional decentral/local AE.  The central AE will automatically get installed with the main XI installation (on your single server).  Technically, the central AE will meet the requirements of many/most XI customers.
>>><i>Question is the XI install doc says that the Business Systems should have a WebAS 640 JAVA instance to host the Adapter Engine. Now where does this fit into..do i need a separate server for this, as our R3 and Crm systems are on WebAS 620.</i>
If you do find the need to install a local AE, yes, this would require a WebAS 640 engine and you'd probably want to do this on it's own WebAS 640 instance (not necessarily on a separate physical server).  However, your R/3 and CRM business systems will probably not need a local AE.  These systems have plenty of ways to communicate with XI and can still use the central AE along with proxies and IDocs.
Some reasons for a decentral/local AE include:
- organizational, security restrictions
- performance, high availability
- protocol requirements (e.g. ftp not allowed and NFS from central AE can't be realized)

    Hi,
    Installaing Discover is quite easy but you need to configure to the database and apps also for which you need to create a repostory. So keep you database login and a seperate tablespace ready and start discover from oracle_discover_home/bin you will find options there for configuring repostory there.

    It appears that you have apps that need updating that were pruchased from more than one account
    - Go to settings>Store and sign out and sign into your account.
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

  • Install and config issues with Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer

    For a while now I've been struggling with migrating a testing database to a newer version.
    And right now I'm pretty much stuck at trying to configure Oracle Portal, Forms Reports and Discoverer
    What I've got:
    Windows server 2008 R2 64bit
    Oracle 11g database
    Java 6u27 64bit
    JDK 1.6 64bit (using this after 1.7 ended up throwing out bugs while trying to start a weblogic server)
    JDK 1.7 64bit
    Weblogic 10.3.5 (or so i think - I've installed from the wls1035_generic.jar from the oracle website)
    PFRD 11.1.1.2 with 11.1.1.3 installed over it, installed without config
    and a hanging up configuration
    Basically I've been trying to install PFRD (only forms, reports and enterprise manager from it actually) but it kept failing once it got to the configuration stage, so I installed without config, applied 11.1.1.3 and now trying to run the config manually with the good old \bin\config.bat
    Result - the config froze for approx.18 hours then failed
    There isn't much useful info I could deduct from the logs, mostly just says one or more configuration parts failed. At one place it mentions trying to set up a domain and starting up an adminserver for it - and apparently that's where it hangs up and finally times out and fails.
    I'm a little clueless what to do about it as the logs don't say anything else of use I could understand. Any ideas there?

    Trying the step by step, the only difference between that and what i do seems to be the file copying (which I can't do - there is no windows\extra\ directory anywhere, the files mentionned seem to already be on their places and either only there, or exactly the same) and clistering
    So far the news ain't good - the config process hangs on creating domain ->Step Creating Domain started
    It isn't frozen per se - the process doesn't use up any processor time, memory consumption within bounds, it reacts to button clicks and all..it just doesn't do anything concerning the said domain

  • How to install and config multi server certificates for hardware servers within one server instance(using different IP addresses?

    Hi,
    I hope your questions is like this.
    one instance is there, and want to install multiple server certs.
    Ans:-
    I don't think you can install individual certs for all of them. which is not possible, but you can install server certs for particular classes.
    In one instance,you can have multiple h/w virtual servers each binded to one ip.
    This is possible in iws 6.0,you can install different certs for different virtual classes.
    Thanks,
    Daks.

  • Sccm client v4 wont install and install client v5 - SCCM 2012 R2

    Hi, I am coming to the end of a SCCM 2012 R2 client deployment. I have come across 2 machines (so far)that have the SCCM 2007 (v4) client installed, and although the task is set to uninstall from the server the v5 client will not installed. iI have been
    using this an as template:
    http://eskonr.com/2010/11/sccm-client-installation-troubleshooting-steps-check-list/
    I have ran the install seperatelty from the server (boxed ticked - Uninstall existing Config Manager client) - No Install
    The ccmsetup folder is created - c$\Windows\ccmsetup, but only has 3 files, no logs folder
    Other machines on site has the v5 client
    Checked ping from client to server and vice versa (no firewall enabled)
    Boundaries/Schema/DNS - ok
    Checked all local event logs.
    i know you can run the local uninstall command, but as the network is vast i would like to fix to come from the server, rather than having to do this on the client.
    Any tips would be great going forward.

    I ensured the account used for the install was in the local admins group.

  • Forms 10g installed and running on Windows Vista

    <font color=0000FF>Update 12-Dec-2008: </font>Oracle has published NOTE 559067.1 -- How to Install Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2 - hence 10.1.2.3 - on Windows Vista, 24-OCT-2008 with some installation help.
    <font color=0000FF>Update 07-July-2008: </font> Added text at the bottom showing how to find patchsets for Forms 10g.
    <font color=0000FF>Update 29-May-2008: </font> This thread was started in November, 2007.  In January, 2008, Oracle released Patch 3 for Forms 10g, which makes Forms 10g compatible with Windows Vista.  As time permits I'll try to keep the information in this post up to date.   Updated information will be inserted <font color=0000FF>as blue text.
    </font>
    <font color=0000FF>Original message begins here:</font>
    This is a second thread I am posting to outline the steps I have used to install Forms on a Windows Vista Home Basic laptop.   The other thread describes installing Forms 6i:
          Forms 6i installed and running on Windows Vista
    Please read through the initial part of that post for the background.  I realize Oracle has not certified Forms 10g to run on Vista, but the time has come for my associates and I to upgrade our old computers to new desktop/laptop platforms, and I would hate to acquire XP machines and be stuck with them for the next 5 years.  <font color=0000FF>(Note: Since first posting this message, Oracle has certified Forms 10g Patch 3 (version 10.1.2.3.0) to run on Vista)</font>  So after another person informed me that he had Forms installed and running on Vista, I went ahead and bought one.  I found that as long as I set the compatibility mode to run Forms programs as Windows XP (and a few other changes), Forms 6i and 10g run quite satisfactorily.
    <font color=0000FF>Update 29-Jan-2008: </font> Unfortunately, it turns out that the Forms 10g Builder running on Vista <font color=0000FF>had</font> a major flaw:   If you try to develop a form, the Builder will crash if you try to compile a procedure that calls another procedure in the form that has errors.  The problem is reported and described in this thread:  Error compiling a form under Vista
    <font color=0000FF>Update 12-Mar-2008: </font> Installing Patch 3 on Vista does not help with this problem -- the Builder still crashes in the same situation.
    <font color=0000FF>Update 25-July-2008: </font> Applying Patch 7047034 has corrected the problem.   See this link within this thread:   Forms 10g: Installing Patch 7047034 on Windows Vista
    Webutil note:  I am stuck in a Forms 6i client/server world, so all my forms must run in that environment.   Therefore I have not used any Webutil software, and I do not know whether that part will run under Vista.
    Internet Explorer note:  On Windows Vista, IE CANNOT be used to run the Web Forms runtime.  It crashes immediately when you try to run a form.  Instead, I can use either Firefox (Firefox 2, Firefox 3.0 Crashes with Forms 10g) or Netscape, as long as they are set to disable java.  <font color=0000FF>[ Correction:   IE7 on Vista now runs the Forms 10g forms.   You just need to add "?config=jpi" to the browser URL when starting the Web Forms session.   More IE/Vista info: [url=http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=642973]Vista JInitiator Problem ]</font>

    The steps below are those I followed to install Forms 10g (version 10.1.2.0.2)
    I.  Preliminary system changes in Windows
    When I started installing, I got the following error message:    Install has encountered an error while
        attempting to verify your virtual memory settings.
        Please verify that the sum of the initial sizes of
        the paging files is at least 256 MB.To fix this:  Go to Control Panel, System and Maintenance, View amount of RAM and processor speed (under "System"),
    Advanced system settings (in left "Tasks" column), Advanced tab, Settings (under "performance"), Advanced tab:
    Virtual Memory shows a "Total paging file size for all drives: 2337MB.
    Click "change", Uncheck "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives"
    Click "custom size:", set Initial size to: 2048, Max to 4096
    Click set button, then OK, get message:The changes you have made require you to restart your computer before
       they can take effect.Restart the computer.
    II.  Installing Forms 10g
    1.  Download two files from Oracle:
        ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1.zip (626,122,752 bytes)
        ds_windows_x86_101202_disk2.zip (236,880,881 bytes)
    2a.  Before extracting, it is a good idea to shut down any virus protection software.  It can sometimes prevent some files from being created.
    2b.  Extract both into the C:\oracle directory, as disk1 and disk2.
    3.  Using Windows Explorer, change the properties of setup.exe in the C:\oracle\disk1 folder.  (In windows explorer, right click, properties, Compatibility tab.)   Change the compatibility to run as Windows XP (Service Pack 2).
    4.  Right click setup.exe and click "Run as administrator"
    5.  Select "Installation type" = Complete (1.11 GB)
    6.  Received this message:Windows Firewall has blocked this program from
    accepting incoming network connections.  If you
    unblock this program, it will be unblocked on all
    public networks that you connect to.
    C:\users\steve\appdata\local\temp\orainstall...
      2007-10-29_11-59-08am\jre\1.4.2\bin\javaw.exeI clicked "Unblock"
    7.  Received this message:  "Provide outgoing mail server information"  I entered the smtp mail server that I use.
    8.  A summary screen displayed showing 274 products under New Installations.
    I clicked the Install button.
    9.   Received this message:  You can find a log of this install session at:
    C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory\logs\installActions2007.....log
    10.  The installation completed.  Installed products shows Forms 10.1.2.0.2
    III.  After the install completed
    1.  Create a shortcut to the Forms 10 Builder on the Desktop.
    On the shortcut line, after the .exe, add *userid=userxxx/pwxxx@orcl* so Builder automatically logs into 10g database.  If you do step 4 below (creating an easily-accessible folder to use for your forms) change the "Start in" path on the shortcut so it points to that folder.  Otherwise, Forms Builder will not find referenced objects and PLL libraries when it opens a form.  Also do the same on the Start, All Programs shortcut for the Forms Builder.
    Edit:  After applying Patch 3, the following steps are not necessary.
    Set its compatibility to Windows XP.
    Set checkbox: "Run this program as as an administrator."  (Without this, FormBuilder will NOT open a PLL library.)
    Click the "Show settings for all users" and change values there.
    2.  Copy "Start OC4J Instance" icon to desktop.
    Set its compatibility to Windows XP.
    The first time it runs, I got a Windows popup to unblock program named Java.  I clicked "Unblock".
    3.  tnsnames.ora:
    Rename C:\oracle\DevSuiteHome_1\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
    to:  tnsnames_orig.ora
    If you created a tnsnames.ora file for Forms 6i, just copy it to the path above.  If not, do this:
    Create a new tnsnames.ora file, copying entries old file on my old laptop, which contains all the connections I use.
    Delete the old laptop entry, replace with new entry for the new local ORCL connection on new laptop from tnsnames file renamed from the c:\oracle\... ...\10.2.0\db_1\ path.
    4.  Optional:  Create an easily accessible folder to store fmb files:
    C:\users\steve\.1\fmb10
    You don't really want to keep drilling into C:\oracle\DevSuiteHome_1\forms, and then find your .fmb file among the several dozen oracle-supplied files.
    To create a folder named .1, you have to open a CMD.exe (Windows DOS) window, and type the Make Directory command:
    MD .1
    That will create the folder within the current directory -- mine defaults to C:\users\steve
    Note:  If you also need to use Forms 6i like me, DO NOT EVER open a .fmb file in the Forms 10 Builder from the Forms 6i folder.  If you compile it, or even worse, save the .fmb, Forms 6i *cannot ever* access the file.  Instead, always use the File Manager (Windows Explorer) to copy the fmb from the fmb6 folder into the fmb10 location.
    5.  Change the Forms 10g Default.env file using a text editor.
    This file replaces all the settings originally written to the Windows Registry (GREAT idea, Oracle!  I hate the registry.)  No more Regedit.  The default.env file is located at: (DevSuiteHome_1 path)\forms\server\default.env
    Locate line with:  FORMS_PATH= and add:
        ;C:\users\steve\.1\fmb10
    Add a new line:
    FORMS_MMAP=FALSE
    The above allows compiling an fmx while the form is running.
    Add a new line:
    FORMS_ROWLOCK_OPTIMIZATION=FALSE
    (This fixes Oracle bug number 3949854, which prevents automatic skipping if the same value is typed over another value. TAR 4806199.993 Automatic Skip failure...)  See bug 4068896
    Add a new Line:
    FORMS_RESTRICT_ENTER_QUERY=False
    This allows use of Query-Where window in enter query, after entering a colon in any input field.  Without this, Forms returns FRM-40367: Invalid criteria in field nnn in example record.  Oracle shut it down to prevent "sql injection" attacks.
    6.  Jiniator setup:
    Run file jinit.exe in C:\oracle\DevSuiteHime_1\jinit\jinit.exe
    It installs Jinitiator 1.3.1.22.
    I installed it in C:\oracle\JInitiator 1.3.1.22\
    For Firefox, make sure a copy of file \bin\NPJinit13122.dll resides in   C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins.
    For Netscape, the path is:  C:\Program Files\Netscape\Navigator 9\plugins
    7.   Browser settings
    See the note above about using Firefox 2 and not Firefox 3!
    In Firefox 2 go to:  Tools-> Options-> Content
    Uncheck the "Enable Java" checkbox
    --Firefox terminates if this is not done!
    Note:  After my system automatically installed updates to either java or Firefox, re-check the "Enable Java" setting.  I am suspicious that one of these installs re-enables java in the browser.
    Also note:  some web sites cannot display properly if java is disabled.  Example:  U.S. time website: http://www.time.gov   Use Internet Explorer to view these.
    In Netscape make the same changes as Firefox.  Without disabling java, it also terminates when you try to run a form.
    Creating a url to use in the browser:
    Try this:
        http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet
    If it does not work, change the 8889 port number as follows:
    Open file:  C:\oracle\DevSuiteHome_1\install\portlist.ini
    Note the number in line:
    Oracle Developer Suite HTTP port = 8889
    Use the number as the port number.
    You can also change the 127.0.0.1 to the computer name:
    Control Panel, System and Maintenance, See the name of this computer (under "System").  Mine is "steve-PC"
    So the alternate URL is:     http://steve-PC:8889/forms/frmservlet
    To try out the URL, start the OC4J instance set up above.  Then start either Netscape or Firefox, and enter the URL.  You should get a welcome screen.
    If the above URL works, start up the Forms Builder, and open Edit, Preferences.  On the General tab, uncheck the "Build before running" check box (optional).  On the Runtime tab, set the "Application Server URL to the url above.
    To run a real form, add this to the URL after frmservlet, (with no spaces):
        ?form={formname}&userid={userxxx}/{passwordyyy}@{connect-string}
    but replace the parts in curly braces with the appropriate values.  Example:
        http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet?form=ABC&userid=abc123/zyx@orcl
    Setting up Forms Builder to directly run a form in the browser:
    Run the Forms Builder.  Go to Edit, Preferences, Runtime tab.
    Set the Application Server URL to:
        http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet
    (or use whatever URL string you developed above)
    Set the Web Browser Location to:
        "C:\Program Files\Netscape\Navigator 9\navigator.exe"
    (or an equivalent to run the Firefox browser).
    8.  FORMSWEB.CFG file changes
    The file is located at:
    C:\ORA_DS_101202\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\server\formsweb.cfg
    I changed the following two lines in the file, but these are my personal preferences:
    separateFrame=true
    lookandfeel=Generic
    9.  FMRWEB.RES file changes
    For Oracle help:  Enabling Key Mappings
    The file fmrweb.res defines actions (triggers that run) when a function key is pressed while running Forms.  The one released has unix-style key mapping, but I prefer keys originally mapped for Windows PC Forms users. There is a fmrpcweb.res in the same folder that can be renamed to fmrweb.res.
    In the C:\oracle\DevSuiteHome_1\forms path, I renamed fmrweb.res to fmrweb_orig.res.
    I have a file that I prefer to use, so I put it into the folder as fmrweb.res. The contents are listed below. It is organized so the most important keys are listed alphabetically at the top (URFD column is the sort column), followed by a group of less-important keys.  These are keys that are available to users, but they either would not use, or are disabled within most forms.  The URFD column in the second set starts with a hex A0 character, which is a high-order space, so collates after normal alphabetic characters.  (Note: If you want to copy the text below and use it, the hex A0 character has been changed by the forum software to a space. So you would need to use a text editor with hexadecimal character capabilities to replace the space with the original character. )
    My file has special keys defined for F2 (I use it for a debugging Key-F2 trigger in my forms), and a "Cursor to Home" F12 function. All the rest are pretty much the same as in the released fmrpcweb.res file, only mine are organized alphabetically on the URFD column.
    The Web Forms fmrweb.res file is editable using any programming editor (NOT MS Word!!!). The old Client/Server key mapping file, fmrusw.res, could only be changed using the Oracle Terminal program (and it is a pain to use).
    Here is the main part of my fmrweb.res file:#

    I followed your instructions and installed Developer Suite 10G on Windows Vista Home Premium edition. I have Oracle 11G DB running on the same machine.
    Two points, Steve:
    1. When I tried to set the maximum virtual memory to 6110 an error message displayed from Windows and told me that I can't set the maximum virtual memory to more than 4096. I set it to 4090 and it worked and I got nothing wrong during the installation process.
    2. After installing JInitiator and disabling Java on Firefox I called the http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet page and everything seemed to be OK because the Oracle Forms Services logo appeared and then a successful installation message appeared , but as I clicked (ok) to continue a gray screen appeared inside the browser (like the one displayed when you try to run a Java applet inside a browser) and then I wait to death till something appears but sadly nothing. I just get a blank gray screen inside my Firefox browser.
    Do you have any idea what to do to solve the problem?
    Regards

  • App store says I have lion installed, and wont open iWork

    Every time I try to open any iWork app I get an error message saying "Keynote cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Keynote works with this version of Mac OS X. (Below is the problem details and system config.) I went to apple>about this mac and I have OS X 10.6.8 installed and it had worked before. I then go to the app store and it says I have Lion installed....I never paid to download Lion and it is no installed on my mac because I have none of the new features. The copy of iWork is an academic version provided from my school and I have never had any problems with it until now. Can anyone help?

  • How to install and use Java v1.6 in addition of v1.5 for SoaSuite?

    As far as I know the highest Java version with which SoaSuite is running is v1.5 (resp.5).
    Assume I want to (have to) use version v1.6 (for other programs on my computer):
    How can I install and use v1.6 as second Java installation ?
    If I simply install v1.6 then Oracle SoaSuite refuses to run.
    So I have to tell SoaSuite to use an older version on my hard disc.
    How can I do this?
    Is there a single point of reference for the SoaSuite which java location location to use?
    What about the environment variables JAVA_HOME and PATH?
    Or is there an entry in the Application Server settings or any batch script which must be adjusted?
    Peter

    SOA Suite is certified for Java 6.
    Look at metalink note 444462.1 which gives instructions on how to achieve this. You will need to upgrade to 10.1.3.4 though.
    Its fairly straight forward, as SOA Suite uses the JDK from the ORACLE_HOME. This can be changed by editing the opmn.xml file found in SOA_HOME/opmn/config
    Backup the original JDK in the Oracle Home and copy over the new Java 6 into the ORACLE_HOME:
    Example:
    $ cd $ORACLE_HOME
    $ mv jdk jdk.orig
    $ cp –rp <directorypath_to_java6> jdk
    Verify that the new JDK is working by executing:
    $ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin/java -version
    cheers

  • Can't log in to server following SP install and configuration

    Good morning!  I’ve got an interesting one that’s had us scratching our heads here for the past several weeks.
    We’re trying to build out a new Sharepoint 2013 farm on server 2012 (have attempted both 2012 and R2 with the same results) and have run into a problem that we can’t seem to find a solution to.
    Some background – infrastructure is running Vmware 5.0 u2 on Cisco UCS with EMC VNX storage.
    SQL server is a physical server 2008 R2 running on server 2008 R2.
    We’re currently running other 2012 based servers in development, but none in full production yet.
    All of those servers are behaving normally.
    Installation steps are as follows: Deploy template and update OS.
    Reboot as necessary.
    Turn over to applications manager who does the Sharepoint install.
    We’ve tried SP’13 RTM and SP1 slipstreamed from VLSC.  Bits install ok, and server reboots.
    Following the SP products and config wizard, the reboot causes the server not to be accessible.
    It usually stalls on “Please wait” and/or “applying Group Policy registry,” which if you wait long enough will actually get to a login screen.
    When you log in, it stalls on please wait for the user profile service.
    We’ve left it here over a weekend and had no change.  In the event log, we see a 6005 group policy waiting error, but never a 6006 with the timeout.
    Yesterday I dug into it with a snapshot of the offending system.
    What I found is that if I go in and remove all accounts from the local group policy|log on as a service, the server will allow logins.
    With us running a Sharepoint farm with a remote SQL server, some of the SP services need this right, and we have other accounts in group policies from other applications that need to be there for ease of use.
    Anyone run into this, and if so, do you have a workaround or solution that I can try?
    Thanks,
    -brad

    Are you able to provide the output of gpresult when the machine is experiencing issues? Understand if you are not able to as it may reveal sensitive information.
    Do these servers have Internet access (as in, can they access http://crl.microsoft.com)? I'm wondering if SharePoint's need to do CRL checking is causing an issue.

  • Need to load multiple skins with only a single .swf and config.xml

    Hello
    These are part of some instructions that were of a AS3 Mp3 Store I purcased
    Well guys the new AS3 flash cart system can have skins hot swapped in and out with out having to recompile the actionscript code.
    You can even have multiple skins on the same cart and use different ones in different places of your website.
    This is all because the flash cart system itself runs seperate from the graphical user interface that the customer visits.
    When you purchase a new cart skin, or if you edit your own custom skin, you can place the swf file for it in the "skins" directory of your flash cart installation directory. Then in the config file where you "embed" the cart on your website you include the name of the skin you'd like to use (the skin MUST be available in your skins directory).
    The other plus to using the skin system is you can keep the cart application seperate from your site. No longer do you have to have all that ugly php code and cramped swf files floating along side your website html files. No instead you create an install directory then simply embed the cart from where ever it is. The only litigation is that the cart must exist on the same server as the website you are showing it publicly on.
    So right now I have a website with the store set up and working, allowing the buyer  to listen to the tracks, add to cart and checkout after which they are given an instant download link to the purcased files.
    What I want to do now though is break up the songs into differents carts/skins within a dropdown list in my website as quoted in the instructions above, according to genre.
    So I have published 4 different skins  as
    MusicSkin 1.fla
    MusicSkin 2.fla
    MusicSkin 3.fla
    MusicSkin 4.fla
    and have placed these on my server
    The cart works by Index.html > loads the Main.swf >loads MusicSkin.fla which is called by via config.xml
    (<?xml version="1.0"?>
    -<config><skin src="MusicSkin"/><db src="/" sandbox="false" type="sql"/></config>
    I am having trouble configuring how to call on 4 different Skins into different pages on my site if I only have ONE index.html, Main.swc and config.xml files which according to the instructions is possible!
    Hope this makes sense, I get how it works on one skin but not how it works/or to make it work with multple ones on a website.

    Is this possible...anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Really hoping to getting this working soon.
    I am wondering if i have to copy the instances of the different skins into the config file above and each swf and html file loads the corresponding on in the list, or does each instance require it's own config file, which would then be a problem I think, because I could not have 4 config.xml files in the same directory which is what the Action Script is calling on.

  • HOWTO: Install and use opensync-0.22 to sync Evolution to Nokia phone

    Opensync-0.3x is unstable and fraught with danger, the only relatively-safe version is opensync-0.22.  Installing opensync-0.22 is quite a task in x86-64 (i686 users might be able to use the unofficial kpiche repository on this page http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Uno … ositories).
    Here's how I got it to work in arch x86-64 to sync my Nokia 6300 phone over bluetooth (obex) with Evolution contacts and calendars.  The first few steps should be fairly straightforward for most arch users.
    1. Install evolution from repo via pacman if you haven't already:
    pacman -S evolution evolution-data-server evolution-exchange
    At the time of writing these are at version 2.28.11.
    2. Load evolution and configure your default settings, you don't need to configure mail if you don't want to.  Load some test calendar and contact data if you really want to.
    3. Install and configure your bluetooth adapter and pair your phone as per http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bluetooth.  Install openobex from repo via pacman, at the time of writing it is version 1.5-1.
    From here things get a lot more difficult and a lot less arch-y.  Opensync appears to be a huge state of wonk right now, and thus libopensync in the AUR is a huge mess (from http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=45683) and there doesn't appear to be a working 0.22 suite in the repo or aur.  This issue is further complicated by not being able to mix and match opensync libs and plugin versions.  Nevermind!
    4. Get the dependency library tarballs from opensync.org:
    libwbxml: 0.10.7 compiled for me in x64; from here https://libwbxml.opensync.org/wiki/Rele … xml-0.10.7
    libsyncml: 0.4.6 is the only version that contains the openobex headers needed to make libopensync-plugin-syncml-0.22 compile; get it from here https://libsyncml.opensync.org/wiki/lib … .4.6-notes.  Any later version of libsyncml doesn't appear to have these files (ref: http://bugs.gentoo.org/269187) and makes libopensync-plugin-syncml-0.22 fail at compilation, throwing these errors:
    syncml_plugin.h:38:35: error: libsyncml/obex_client.h: No such file or directory
    syncml_plugin.h:39:35: error: libsyncml/http_server.h: No such file or directory
    5. Get the opensync-0.22 tarballs from http://www.opensync.org/download/releases/0.22/, at minimum you need the following:
    libopensync-0.22
    libopensync-plugin-evolution2-0.22
    libopensync-plugin-syncml-0.22
    msynctool-0.22
    You can try other plugins if you want to, ymmv.
    6. Build and install the depedencies using cmake as per the instructions in their INSTALL files; Build and install libopensync, msynctool and plugin-evolution, these shouldn't have any problems.  libopensync-plugin-syncml won't build with default options because it won't be able to locate libsoup while configuring; add flag --disable-http to get around this.  (if you need http I have no idea how to fix this).  libopensync-plugin-syncml will also throw a compilation warning and refuse to compile:
    % ./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-http
    % make
    cc1: warnings being treated as errors
    syncml_plugin.c: In function '_manager_event':
    syncml_plugin.c:297: error: 'smlSessionSetReceivingLimit' is deprecated (declared at /usr/include/libsyncml-1.0/libsyncml/sml_session.h:91)
    The new libsyncml library (relative to the 0.22 plugin anyway) declares this, so a quick manual patch is to comment out lines 296 and 297 in the source code in syncml_plugin:
    295 /*
    296 if (env->recvLimit)
    297 smlSessionSetReceivingLimit(session, env->recvLimit);
    298 */
    Save the file, you should now be ready to run make and make install.
    7. If all went well, you should now be able to see both plugins loaded in msynctool:
    % msynctool --listplugins
    Available plugins:
    syncml-obex-client
    evo2-sync
    I configured my phone and evolution in msynctool exactly as per this thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=705103; copied here for brevity:
    1. Let's go commando with OpenSync. First we create a group to refer to our sync session with. I've called mine "evolution-n95", but you can call it whatever you want. We then create the config for the Evolution side as the first member of this group.
    $ msynctool --addgroup evolution-n95
    $ msynctool --addmember evolution-n95 evo2-sync
    $ msynctool --configure evolution-n95 1
    2. Your text editor will pop up editing member 1 of your evolution-n95 group. Edit the config to look like this:
    <config>
    <address_path>default</address_path>
    <calendar_path>default</calendar_path>
    <tasks_path>default</tasks_path>
    </config>
    3. Now do to the N95 side, adding its config as the second member of the group:
    $ msynctool --addmember evolution-n95 syncml-obex-client
    $ msynctool --configure evolution-n95 2
    4. Your text editor will pop up editing member 2 of your evolution-n95 group. Edit the config to look like this (remember to put your N95's MAC address and Channel number in):
    <config>
    <bluetooth_address>00:AA:11:BB:22:CC</bluetooth_address>
    <bluetooth_channel>10</bluetooth_channel>
    <interface>0</interface>
    <identifier>PC Suite</identifier>
    <version>1</version>
    <wbxml>1</wbxml>
    <username></username>
    <password></password>
    <type>2</type>
    <usestringtable>1</usestringtable>
    <onlyreplace>0</onlyreplace>
    <recvLimit>0</recvLimit>
    <maxObjSize>0</maxObjSize>
    <contact_db>Contacts</contact_db>
    <calendar_db>Calendar</calendar_db>
    <note_db></note_db>
    </config>
    5. Now you're ready to rock and/or roll. Let's try syncing:
    $ msynctool --sync evolution-n95
    ...and you should get a whole stream of mumbo-jumbo similar to the following:
    $ msynctool --sync evolution-n95
    Synchronizing group "evolution-n95"
    The previous synchronization was unclean. Slow-syncing

    Depending on your data to sync, you may see a LOT of info. This may be done quickly or take a minute or two. In any case, you should see "The sync was successful" at the end amd be returned to the prompt.
       6. Pat yourself on the back - you're done. Sync again with the same command as much as you want.
    ps. ignore the README in libopensync-plugin-evolution2-0.22

    Shameless bump. Does anyone know if an iPhone running OS 3.0 can sync properly with iTunes version 8.0.2.20?

  • Install and run blazeds-turnkey-3.2.0-3978 in Tomcat in Linux

    I Installed and ran the blazeds-turnkey-3.2.0-3978 distrubution in Tomcat 5.0.27 with JVM 1.5.0_22 in Window Vista successfully.
    Blazeds, ds-consolo, and samples applications are working fine. I'm not using the Tomcat with Flex Builder. The ds-consolo and samples are
    accessed through http://localhost:8080/ds-consolo and http://localhost:8080/samples. I did not change any of the configuration files
    (service-config.xml, ...) in the distribution package.
    Now I try to Install and run the same blazeds-turnkey-3.2.0-3978 distrubution in the same  Tomcat 5.0.27 with JVM 1.5.0_22 in a remote Linux server.
    I changed the configuration files as following:
    For blazeds application, I changed the parameters in all the configuration files under WEB-INF/flex in following way:
    {server.name}:{server:port} to xyz.com   (xyz.com is the domain name, and we use default port 80)
    {context-root} to blazeds
    For ds-consolo application, I changed the parameters in all the configuration files under WEB-INF/flex in following way:

    It seems they were all deployed to the Tomcat OK, but when I tried to run the ds-consolo and samples apps, I got
    errors. Did I set the parameters, especially {context-root}, correctly? Am I missing anything?
