XI a MUST for MDM

Hi experts,
I am working on XI and also gather information about other parts. In one SDN eLearning it has been said that XI is a MUST for MDM. It can be used without it BUT could lead to errors. Can anyone please enlighten me about exactly what errors there could be.
Thanks in advance...
Sincerely,
Arman EKER

Hi Arman,
As you are working on you know it is a middleware and used to connect two systems.
XI deals in xml messeges it is verry secure.
you have monitoring in XI to put  watch and make sure the correct message should go through XI to reciever System.
When you want data coming from other systems(CRM , SRM) then you can do it by either FTP server or using XI as a middleware using FTP is not safe and also not reconised by SAP Standard.
So its better to Use XI as aSAP Product SAP also recomends that.
Reward if helpful,

  • Standard iViews for MDM accessible only to SuperAdmin

    Hi,
We are using the standard iViews available for MDM. They work fine for the administrator. But if I assign them to a normal user, they don't work, inspite of performing the necessary user mapping to the MDM business system. The only way I can get them to work is by assigning the SuperAdmin role to the normal user. Any suggestion?
Also, the error displayed is, <B>An error occurred. See log for details.</B> Where can I see find this error log in EP?
    Regards,
    Harsh
PS: We are using MDM 5.5 and EP 6.0.

In EP version 12 permission for the System objects assigns only super admin user.
You must set the permissions for every user to be at least have read access.

  • XI Business content for MDM - Syntax error in IDOC adapter

    Hi mates,
I'm trying out the Master Data Harmonization scenario for Vendor data with R/3 as the client system. I'm using SAP delivered XI Business content for MDM. The mapping program is generating ADRMAS and CREMAS IDocs but the IDOC adapter reports that there is a syntax error in ADRMAS IDOC. Find below the details.

How can an IDOC w/o control record be posted?
Did anyone come across this error? Whats wrong/missing?
    I appreciate ur inputs.
    thx in adv

    Moorthy,
I tried reloading the IDOC metadata from IDX2. Still I get the same error.
Regd, IDOC w/o control record, can u elaborate on "dynamic value while posting IDOCs". From where, XI message SOAP header with Business System replaced by corresponding logical system names?

  • XI Technical and Business System Definition For MDM 2.0

    Hi,
We're trying to define the XI technical and business system definitions for our MDM 2.0 installation to work with SRM 5.0 and PI 7.0.
In the documentation we have we can't find reference to what type of a technical and business system to define. Should they be abap/java/standalone/3rd party?
Does anyone have any install scripts of what they did?
    Regards,
    Jerry Martinek

You can set it as third party and it will work fine.  Because MDM isn't built on the wed application server like the majority of the netweaver apps, it's basically treated like a third party system as far as integration is concerned.  Hence you send and receive XML documents to PI and convert them into IDocs to send to R/3
Check the beginning of this document on creating the business and technical systems for MDM

  • ABAP API for MDM work flow

    Hi SDN,
I need some information related to ABAP API for MDM workflow. I did search in SDN and I found one solution in a thered posted on Jul-2008.
ABAP API - MDM Workflow execute
My dought is: Do we have any ABAP API for call MDM work flow. Please provide me the solution ASAP. Apprciate for your immediate response.
    Regards,
    Kumar.

    Hi LAKSHMAN ,
    To answer your question specifically
Using ABAP api you cannot call MDM workflows as of mdm 5.5 there are no functions specific to calling MDM workflows in ABAP.If you want to implement workflows on ABAP side you need to go for SAP ECC workflows which is a different topic than MDM>
To call MDM workflows over the Java stack ie WAS (SAP portal),You have 2 ways
    - UWL
    - Guided Procedures.
    - UWL is a way of calling MDM workflows on EP.Wherein the workflow design will be done in MDM and it will only be called in portal using appropiate connections and configurations.
You can refer the below links to know more on them:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/771f1a61-0e01-0010-daa9-93a52905da09 (uwl)

    - GP is a way where by you need to design the entire workflow on SAP portal the logic can be pertaining to MDM but the design is completely on portal using webdynpros and api.
You can refer the below links to know more on them:

  • XI Adapter for MDM

Is it possible to use XI Adapter for MDM? I have three inbound Interfaces at the receiver MDM side. It was earlier configured as a single XI adapter for all the three?
Do we have to use single communication channel for one interface? is it correct to use three interfaces in one CC?
the interface is not working and it says " Error while receiving by HTTP (error code: 400, error text: ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED)"
    Radhika

    Hi,
How come it is possible to connect MDM system using XI Adapter, because MDM doet not have ABAP Stack to support Proxy communication.
File Adapter/MDM-PI adapter will be used to conect MDM System as per my experience.

  • How do I initialize the ItemDetails screen when first presented for MDM WD

    Hello everyone!
Iu2019m new to the world of netweaver ce and webdynpro for MDM and need a little help with what Iu2019m sure is a basic  code problem for most of you.  Please help if you can! I am a developer for MDM 7.1 sp06. We are now experimenting with Enterprise Portal  using NetWeaver CE 7.2. I have create and deployed an application using NetWeaver Design Studio 7.2. I have also created some screens in the WD Configuration Manager for MDM.
The 2 interface views I have configured are u201CSEARCHu201D and u201CITEMDETAILSu201D.  u201CITEMDETAILSu201D was limited to ADD/CREATE new items in MDM using the WD Configuration Manager  options.
When I created the WD application in NWDS I also created a link with buttons between the 2 screens/views. When I then deploy my application and I press the button to go from my u201CSEARCHu201D screen/view to the u201CITEMDETAILSu201D ADD screen/view, All I see is a u201CCREATEu201D button and no other fields.
I expected to see every field without values in them just as I do when I u201CPREVIEWu201D the screen in the WD Configuration Manager . If I continue and press the u201CCREATEu201D button on the the u201CITEMDETAILSu201D  view, The screen the then presented as I expected with all fields showing but without any values populated in them. I donu2019t want the user to have to press the create button the first time they are presented with this screen.
Can anyone tell me or give me a sample of code that will initialize the itemDetails view just as it is seen when previewed in the WD Configuration Manager?
    Thank you
    Steve

Thanks for the reply but I dont have any problem calling the ItemDetailsInterface. My problem is when I call the ItemDetailsInterface the screen that is presented has no data other than the buttons. I would like the ItemDetailsinterface to display exactly as it does when I preview the screen in WD configuration manager.
What I expect to see is... a screen showing all the buttons plus all the ItemDetails Fields but with the fields initilized as null. this would then allow my user to input the fields needed to create a new record. As it works now... when the user is sent to the ItemDetails view... all they see is the "Cancel" and "Create" button. They have to press the "Create" button 1 time inorder to present the screen a second time but this time witlh all fields presented.
I believe I have to set the "LeadSelection" or the "internalID" to -1 the first time thru the ItemDetails "DoInit" section. So far, no luck.

  • No records in UWL for mdm

    Hi all,
I have a problem with the UWL for MDM, no records are displayed. I have configured things after all the guides and articles found here on SDN and all connection tests are fine, data is displayed in the iVews. (for Vendors). There are tasks in the MDM system. I have restarted the portal server and all services, cleared the cache etc but without any luck..
    Any ideas?
    Cheers,

  • Recommendation for MDM monitoring tool

    Dear all
We are using MDM 5.5 Sp06 on HP Unix. What should we use as an monitoring tool?
CCMS and SMD is not supported for the above combination.
    Please suggest. Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Ravi

    Thanks Markus for the reply.
SMD is not supported for MDM 5.5 sp06 on HP UNIX platform. We got this confirmed in one of the SAP OSS message also.
since MDM 5.5 SP06 P4 we are supporting CCMS heartbeat again. The documentation is almost finished and waits for last rework - will be provided soon
We are not using P4, but if you can share the documentation or provide the link, it will help a lot.
Just to re-confirm CCMS heartbeat is supported for SP06 P4 on HP Unix. Can you please confirm this?
    Thanks in Advance-
    Ravi

  • Importing XI Content for MDM Business or MDM Business Content 5.5 SCV to IR

    Hi All,
I'm required to create a CRM->XI->MDM using the provided MDM 5.5 SP05 - Business Content - Business Partner in the. marketplace. From the pdf files that i have read, I understand that i would have to import SAP ABA 7.0, and MDM Business Content/XI Content MDM Business to use the interface objects, mappings and comm channel templates. I have two questions:
    1) Should I be importing the XI Content MDM Business or the MDM Business Content 5.5 SWCV to the IR?
    2) After importing the above SWCVs , all i get is an empty SWCV for Both MDM  Business Content and XI Content MDM Business with no pre-defined namespace and no object. SAP ABA 7.,0 SWCV however is working fine, with all pre-defined namespaces, and objects intact. How can i remedy the MDM Business Content/XI Content MDM Business SWCV?

    Hi Sushil,
While i'm not 100 per cent sure of about it, i'm fairly certain that there should be ( I might be wrong). Two documents in the sap service marketplace implies this:
In https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/installMDM under the "Installation" Header->MDM 5.5 SP05 - Business Content - Business Partner.zip, there's a pdf file in the zip folder there that states:
"The XI content for MDM delivers interfaces, interface mappings and communication channel templates tailored to the supported SAP remote systems
and the shipped MDM 5.5 SP05 repositories."
Under the same "Installation" header, there's the IT Scenario Configuration.pdf file. In the pdf file, under the "Setting up XI" section they indicated that as a pre-requisite:
"You have imported the XI content MDM Business 5.5 (XI 3.0) or MDM Business 5.5
7.00 (XI 7.0) to the Integration Repository.
This XI content delivers interfaces, interface mappings, and communication channel
templates tailored to the supported SAP remote systems and the shipped MDM
repositories. The included integration scenarios dramatically reduce the manual effort
required to define the message flow between MDM and the supported SAP remote
    systems."
Hence. that's why it leads me to believe that importing the SWCV into the IR "should" give me a pre-defined namespace with some objects available. Any advice on what i should do or did i misread it totally?

  • Missing namespace for XI Settings for MDM Catalog 3.0

    Hi All,
After having a SRM and PI server up and running, I am following the XI Settings for MDM Catalog 3.0 in the Note 1177780 https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap/support/notes/1177780
And I am now stuck at page 4 Interface Determination.
The problem is that I cannot find the namespace http://sap.com/xi/SRM-MDMCatalog
Thus, I cannot further proceed to interface mapping.
    Any ideas?
PS: I found that if I
1/ do not follow the guide and use Business System as service, I can have F4 help on the namespace available in the Design Builder
2/ follow the guide and use Business Service as service, the inputs are just like text labels, and there is no F4 help on the namespace
So should I still follow the guide ? Or I will be better off using Business System as service ?
    Yours,
    Chun Fai

    Dear Chun Fai.
    Under the menu ~
SRM-MDM CATALOG 3.0 in integration repository software component SRM-MDM CATALOG, what namespaces are available?
    Regards,
    Jason

  • Managed System Configuration Error for MDM 7.1 SP09

Greetings, Needed your expert advise. We are getting an error while configuring our MDM Servers (Version 7.1.08.196) in Solution Manager. As suggested in SAP Note  1798643 , I have manually filled the required details and transferred through sldreg.exe to SLD. Now when i try to perform Managed System Configuration, it is throwing the below error. The definition of Technical System '~MDM' is not correct: '~MDM': No Path found in Installed Technical System 'SID~MDM~'. I'm not sure how to manually update the Install Path for our MDM Servers. Since, the data to LMDB is automatically supplied, I might not be able to manually edit anything. Could you please advise if there is any step to solve this issue. Thanks, Haseeb Ahmed.

    Dear ,
    Haseeb,
I had the exact same problem with MDM managed system setup . I was on MDM 7.1 SP10.
    1940337 - RCA template for Solution Manager 7.10 SP10
This note should resolve your problem. This note has the updated template for MDM.
    It did for mine
    Thanks
    Amit
