I put you on a link to the manuals where BPEL is described. This deos not explain anything specific about ESA, as I doubt that BPEL is service aware...

You want to know this about XI or ESA?

As ESA is based on webservices, this should be clear. Otherwise please ask back.

You need to download the NLS CDs from e-Delivery website and use them to apply the patch. Please use adpatch to apply the patches with no options (unlike the US patch driver which is applied using "adpatch options=nocopyportion, nogenerateportion").

  • CAF (Composite Application Framework) and ESA

    Hi,
As far as I understand, XApps is presented as a piece of Netweaver (the column on the left side of the NetWeaver stack), an XApps is also a kind of business process based on several applications (or services ?).
XApps runtime and composition platform is the CAF and not NetWeaver ?
So I am confused and I do not understand if
    - ESA and XApps is the same concept
    - ESA and XApps are not based on the same technology
    - XApps will be part of the Enterprise Services Repository and CAF will be rewrtitten to be based on XI so that the vision and the strategy is coherent
If someone ca nclarify, I will greatly appreciate.
    Cheers.Christophe

XApps is a concept. There is no general implementation of it. You can write Xapps in Java, In ABAP, or whatever. However, there are nice tools in development to do XApps, which are completely Java based.
    > XApps runtime and composition platform is the CAF and
    > not NetWeaver ?
CAF does run on NetWeaver. As it has a "Framework" in it's name it naturally should not contain a server environment, should it?
    >
    > So I am confused and I do not understand if

    No.

    Yes.

  • SAP XI and ESA

    Hi guys,
Does anyone have any good material / suggestions on what to cover under the following topics for XI relating to an ESA:
    1) BPM/BPEL modelling
    2) integration with adapaters and routings
    3) integration for business activity monitoring
    4) creating adapters to nonSAP

    Hi,
    Check things like
    SAP Netweaver  vs SAP ABAP
    netweaver vs mysap
It comes to the fact that you first need to choose what you want to do within NW.
    Check also http://searchSAP.com/r/0,,41186,00.htm

  • Role of technical guy in ESA/CAF

    Hi all,
I don’t know if this is a correct forum or not But I wanted to know firsthand from the ESA community.
I worked as a J2EE consultant for 5 years. I moved to SAP integration, NetWeaver and EP about year and half back. I have had roles varying from pure coding to architecting applications. When I saw ESA, I got excited and started reading about it. As a J2EE consultant with pretty decent ABAP and R3 knowledge, I thought ESA/CAF should be a familiar and right turf for me.
As I read more about ESA, I got confused as to the role of a technical guy in ESA.
If my understanding is correct, SAP is on its way to publish most of its BAPI/RFM’s across its products as web services. What would be left now are “ESA enable” non SAP systems and writing composite applications using CAF and ESA.
Given this background I want to ask the following questions
    1.     How many companies have adopted/looking at adopting ESA?
    2.     How many of those organizations are looking at
            ESA enabling non SAP systems?
    3.     Will there be a role to any technical guy in
that enablement? (j2ee,netweaver java etc etc)
    4.     Can a technical only guy survive in ESA space
            without business knowledge?
I may be entirely wrong in my assumptions. Your experiences and opinions would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards
    Pallayya Batchu

I appreciate your quite response. You rightly pointed that one cannot servive without functional knowledge. But this question still nags my mind.
Is ESA for only functional guys? (because all the webservices are written by SAP or its parters and implementing company is expected to use them by orchestrating.......?)
Do you expect other companies to create web services? If so, from exising components or from scratch?Again if the answer is from scratch then the implementing company need functional as well as technical guys. It might be correct that the technical guy has to know business before effectively designing web services.
    Am I thinking correctly here?

  • Unable to see responsbilities and Forms in Spanish

    Hi Group,
We are testing "Load Balancing" through two nodes, this application is configured to use two languages (US and ESA), everything is working as expected, just one issue with the "ESA" language, when we click on connection button using Spanish language, the responsbilities are listed in english instead of Spanish, also when we get into the application using Spanish language everything is displayed in English.
I have one cloned environment without all the configuration for load balancing (patches, etc.) and everything is working smoothly.
I have executed everything on both web servers (JAR's generation, Maintain Multilingual Tables, Forms compilation for both languages), but we are still getting the same problem.
Any advice or help will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Francisco Mtz.

Please post the details of the application release, database version and OS.

  • Agilent ESA PSA configure acqusition vi error

I tried using the ESA PSA driver with LabVIEW 8.0
First I tried the configure vi to see that I am talking to the instrument, this works fine.
Then I tried the example "Agilent ESA PSA Series Acquire trance.vi" and got an error -113 undefined header.
Does someone have any idea what might cause this error?
    Ori Idan

Tanya I am glad you responded. I tried to work some changes to the driver last year and I was not able to find a responsible party (i.e. National or Agilent).to work the recommendations I have into the driver to fix the issues. I'd like to work with you to make a number of recommendations in terms of fixing some shortfalls in the driver and also change the command grouping that is current. The Undefined Header error is being thrown due to inappropiate command grouping and doing commands not appropiate for the state the instrument is in. I have worked extensively with the PSA and ESA not only in Spectrum Analyzer mode, but have also worked in the Modulation Measure mode and can make a significant number of suggestions to improve. Please feel free to contact me offline at my email [email protected] (personal) or [email protected] (work) so we can follow thru on the suggestions. Thanks for replying on this and I look forward to working with you to address these issues and making a better driver. We have been considering rewriting this driver to fix the issues, but having National work it, keeping ownership and keeping the updates in the public domain is prefered. If you prefer to call my cell number is in the National database.

  • Business Mantras for Success in Future....

The recent focus on Service Oriented Architecture is not just something that SAP has been promoting to enhance the Enterprise Software business, but the acceptance that it's been finding shows that it indeed is a well thought of and researched initiatives. As businesses are growing, organically or inorganically, what keep the efficiencies on is the seamless flow of information. This information as of now, due to the mere size of enterprise software, makes its flow rigid and more focused on what can be achieved through them, rather than what the businesses really would like to have.
Size does really still matter, but so does agility and flexibility, coupled with adaptability. ESA does allow companies and business process owners to think of innovative way to reach the end customer and identify as well as deliver exactly what they may want. This enable the concept of "core competency" to be implemented uniquely to each business as they wish to, rather than just being a "me too" of a benchmark firm. After all, each business, like people, has some uniqueness to it, which it would like to leverage. This could be in terms of the Branding, Go to market strategy, Low cost or service provider image.
These changes of course make change management more important. Not just in terms of the competency required by the Business Process Experts involved in further implementation, also the right education to the clientele in terms of the possibilities existing and the business impact of the same.

    Sridhar,
what you say is true , what ESA offers is the flexibility to change your IT to suit your business rather than the other way round. Any aquisition or growth also comes with the baggage of integrating / scaling existing systems and/or integrating a multitude of IT systems to function together , this is exactly what ESA tries to hit at.
Some examples of web based architectures / on demand slutions could be found at salesforce.coms web enabled platform for CRM ( Sorry SAP for the reference to a competitior!!!) or the transaction based pricing models adoptted by many..
But then it is not a quick fix for all that today-I-am-in a-traditional-discrete-systems-spread-across-the-world-managing with-excel-sheets to totally-web-enabled / ESA enabled bleeding edge platform tomorrow. It would need a lot of vision and tenacity to go through the change and the capacity to push it through the organization.
I think it would be initially competitor / business leader  driven .. Company X has done this , can we do the same ?.. and unless this vision *** tenacity is available or appropriate leaders found , it would still be piecemeal and result in certain functions being ESA compliant and other business still falling back on the old excel sheets ..
    My 0.02
    Arun
P.S The above may be a pessimistic way of looking at change management and ESA and BPX but then in many old economy companies , they still choose to build their own applications internally or outsourced rather than implement a package and try and align themselves to industry standards...

  • Does AsyncOS 6.5.1-005 support Windows Server 2008 LDAP?

Does AsyncOS 6.5.1-005 for the E-mail Security Appliance support Windows Server 2008 authentication?

    Hello rklebano,
Can you give some more side information? What are you pointing at, can you explain what you try to accomplish and what the problem is you are facing?
To share some of my experiences with you: I have queried a Win2k8 domain from a non Windows host (a Perl script running on Linux) using basic authentication. If you make sure your windows policy allows basic authentication for the userID you are using it will work. You can even query your Global Catalog, which is better indexed, using this logon type.
If you are forced to use MS propriety logon types I assume that Ironport will not be able to connect.
    Steven.
    Hi Steven,
We are trying to achieve a native Server 2008 AD domain. Unfortunately our WSA and ESA's are unable to use Server 2008 domain controllers to authenticate against. The WSA have a preview version of AsyncOS 6.0 (Aurora) that supports 2008 AD authentication. I was wondering if there was a version of the AsyncOS for the ESA that supports that as well.
