XI and R/3 Running on the same Server.

Hello Friends!
One year ago I've installed XI on a machine that already had a R/3 instance. Although there were different instances, one for SAP R/3 and one instance for the ABAP part of XI, I couldn't get to connect XI to the R/3, appartently XI searched for the instance through the IP address, ignoring the instance ID parameter.
Now I have again the same challenge, I have only one machine to run R/3 and XI.
Does anyone know if it is possible to do?

from ERP 2004 you can install XI on the same server.

Since they're different apps and there's no way to sync something like that: no. Sounds like you could just do a video slideshow to me. That's supported by all major video creation apps.

Activating MS Office 2013 ProPlus via KMS running on the same server

Given: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 64-bit, all the latest security updates applied.
KMS service set up and running, all the recommended updates applied (to handle possible activation issues for Windows 8 etc)
Microsoft Office 2013 Standard deployed on the server mentioned above and on workstations on intranet, volume licensing in effect (proper KMS key for activation of Microsoft Ofice 2013 has been entered).
Problem: I can't activate MS Office 2013 installation running on the same server where KMS service is being run.
There are no entries in KMS event log related to this failure.
Everything was restarted, reinstalled etc several times already (including installing 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the Office).

How Can I create a cluster of two instances running on the same server?

Clustering (intended as Sun Cluster, Veritas Cluster, etc... ) IS NOT SUPPORTED since 7.0:

and, based on my own experience, is the WORST way of achieving high availability of an LDAP Directory Service and an almost GRANTED way to get replication issues in your topology (lock, split, re-init, etc...).
Please use instead the 'application-level' clustering that you get out of the box with the Multi-Master Replication.

Securing applications communications running in the same server

Hi everybody,
I want to share critical information between two applications (medical information about patients) using JMS queues, moreover due to this criticity i was planning to secure this communication using SSL. The problem is that one of the client applications, because of his architecture, have problems when accessing the JMS queues.
But I have to say that both applications will run in the same server (physical machine), knowing that, what kind of security problems could we encounter if, finnally we don't cypher the communication?
I guess that the danger is lower than if the two applications would run in different machines, wouldn't it?

Yes you can have the RAC and RAC one on the same cluster. For support and recommendations raise a service request with oracle support

every IP based connection has a gateway that tells a device where to send packages that belong to the subnet the connection is in.
Then there is a (one, and only one!) default gateway that tells the device where to send all packages that belong to no subnet of any connection. On OSX this is normally bound to the primary network device (the one that is on first place in the network configuration).
So there is no problem having more than one network connection open. In your case, though, the WiFi connection would probably be in the same subnet as the wired connection. This doesn't pose a problem per se, but just is a bit senseless. It doesn't have an impact on networking, though.

Yes, provided that the HW, OS version and Patch level are certified for both 9i and 10g.
Install 10g into a seperate ORACLE_HOME -- whether under the same "oracle" account or a different (e.g. "oracle10g" account).
However, you should consider 11g as 10g is being desupported this month (i.e. no new patches / fixes will be available for 10g)

Video out settings HDMI and Component out run at the same time?

Does anyone know if I can get video out of both the HDMI port and component video connections at the same time. Trying to distribute video throught the house on component, and still get HD on the flat panel in the living room. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Apple says when both HDMI and component are connected, HDMI will take precedence over component. Short answer: no.

BI 7.0 and ECC 6.0 in the same server

In my company the scenarion is like, we have installed ECC 6.0 in server where development work is going on.
Now we have requirement to implement the BI 7.0 in the same server as already BI content is existing in the same server.
My question is
Is it possible to implement the BI on the same server?
If yes, is it possible to extract the data from the development client on the same server where ECC 6.0 running?
If No, then what is the use of the BI contents in the ECC 6.0 server?

Yes, why not? But that will be a separate SAP installation with different SID.

Yes, that is possible. Both the system will be having different Logical system name. You have to create a source system connection from ur BI to ECC system and then data extraction is possible.

BI Content in ECC is there to facilitate data extraction from ECC to BI. It would provide you the structure of data extraction. Presence of BI Cont does not mean a ECC system will be working as BI system.

Solman 7.1 and Netweaver 7.3 on the same server

I am trying to install a new test environment for SAP Manufacturing execution 6.0.
That software requires Netweaver 7.3, which in turn requires Solution manager for applying Service packs.
My question is:
Can I install Solution Manager 7.1 and Netweaver 7.3 on the same application server running Windows 2008 R2 64-bit?
The DB will be MS SQL server 2008 64-bit.
I Have noticed the following so far:
- Solman requires much lower versions of JCE policy files than Netweaver. Will there be a conflict?
- Solman installation asks for Kernel NW 7.20. Why not Kernel NW 7.3?

Can B1 2005 and 2007 be run at the same time?

I want to install B1 2007 on my server to make sure that everything runs over smoothly, then when I'm satisfied with the results, I'll just upgrade my workstations and hopefully have a seamless transition. Are there any errors that will pop up if I install 2007 at the same time as 2005? I have to make sure that there isn't a work outage.

if you mean both version to sql server, the answer is yes, you can. If you mean to install the aplication, the answer is no, you cannot. If you want to test new version, youll have to use new computer or some virtual PC.

Forms 6i and Forms 9i Running at the same time

I was wondering if it is possible to run the Forms 6i developer suite and the Forms 9i developers suite at the same time and database environment.

Oracle9iAS Release 2 = Oracle9i Forms and you can only run 9i Forms in this stack.
Oracle9iAS Release 1 - Oracle Forms6i and you can only run 6i Forms on this stack.
You should "mix and match" version of Forms. You should run the version of Forms on the same platform version.
Of course, you can upgrade your 6i Forms to 9i which means they will now only run on Oracle9iAS Release 2.
I know its a little bit confusing but we are slowly getting all our release numbers aligned to make it easier for you.

PSE 11 and PSE 10 running on the same computer.

Can I install PSE 11 on my Mac without it affecting my version PSE 10? I want to run both versions on the same computer for teaching purposes.

And on a mac you can run them both at the same time, although it's usually best to open the older version first.

Mainstage 2 and Kontakt 5 running at the same time?

I use MainStage 2 and Lion running on my MacBook Pro 2.3 i5 8GB Ram. When I use only Kontakt 5 latency is low, but when I in addition start up MainStage 2 I get pops and crackles. Can not Kontakt 5 and Mainstage 2 run side by side? Is this normal?

I just think its kinda funny, since I use MainStage ONLY for changing patches on my three synths - no softsynth at all, and use Kontakt 5 mostly for playing one Rhodes sound, sometimes I layer two sounds at once. The CPU is not very high, just seem like Kontakt and MainStage will not work well together. Mayby using a SSD for the samples would help ...
