XI and SOA

Hi sap Peoples,
I am new in SAP XI. Can i know the link b/w Xi and SOA. What is SOA?
Thanks&Regards
Raja Mohamed.

Hi,
There is a separate forum for Enterprise SOA in SDN.
In the simlar way we have Exchange Infrastructure
under SAP NetWeaver.
These are some of the Links for SOA and ESOA:
Look at the following links for basics of ESOA:

  • SSO and SOA

Can someone please provide me with a walk through using SSO and SOA? Basically in a SOA environment; from Application to Service to maybe another Service to Database how is SSO done?

I'm assuming when you say SSO, you mean identity propagation, which is usually the case with SOA. SSO to me is the act of moving from between HTTP servers without having to provide credentials everywhere you go. With SOA, you may want your identity propagated from portal->service bus->business services across different domains all within a single HTTP request.
Oracle has a number of strategies with regards to this. What I've been working with recently is using SAML token profile in WebLogic. Essentially the Web service stack in WebLogic knows how to generate a SAML assertion from the SAML Credential Mapper if required by the WS-policy. The SAML Identity Asserter consumes the assertion on the receiving end. You manage the partner relations, confirmation method, signing info, etc. through the WebLogic console.
You can manage which WS-security policies are applied for services deployed on WebLogic through the console, or you can do it from central gateway using Oracle Service Bus.

  • SOA Suite 10g and SOA Suite 11g? what are the major changes in these two?

    Hi Experts,
I am keen in knowing about Soa Suite 11g. SOA Suite 10g and SOA Suite 11g, BPEL changes? what are the major changes in these two product/tool wise? Is now OSB is part of Soa Suite 11g? it would be helpful for us to know what are the major changes and updates or modifications came in 11g.
    Please share this valuable information.
Is there still any version is in progress from Oracle, which is yet to be officially launched from oracle?

what are the major changes in these two product/tool wise? Few major changes to enlist are that SOA suite 10g was using Oracle Application Server (OC4J) however 11g is on Weblogic and 11g is based on SCA. B2B is now part of SOA suite itself and OSB can share a domain with SOA. You may refer below link to know few more -
    http://blogs.oracle.com/soabpm/2010/03/11gr1_patchset_2_111130_soa_fe.html
Is now OSB is part of Soa Suite 11g? OSB has a separate installer but can share a domain with SOA and SOA-direct binding is also supported now. Refer below link to know more about new features in OSB 11g -

Is there still any version is in progress from Oracle, which is yet to be officially launched from oracle? No major release is planned. Patches for 11g R1 may come.

  • PI 7.1 and SOA comaptibility

    Hi,
Is PI 7.1 Fully compatible with SOA guidelines and principles.
or Are there any features/functionality that is only partially or not inline with SOA guidelines and principles. If there are such, can you pls tell me.
    Thanks,
    Mani.

    Hi,
PI 7.1 is fully compatible with SOA framework. but SOA is framework and PI 7.1 is a product. considering PI just as a product; it has several integration capabilitits beyond working just an service consumer/provider.
You can use the PI as seperate product, but for SAP framework ESOA, PI is one of the sore component.
If you will consider SOA, then this is framework where you may/may not use PI. As the ESB (Integration activities) can be full-fill by different integration tools.
In simple terms, PI and SOA can work as inter dependent and also can work individually.
Considering ESOA, PI 7.1 has majore role and ESOA framework must need PI 7.1, so ESOA framework is dependent on PI 7.1 but viceversa is not possible.
    Thanks

  • Do I need to set  system env variables for weblogic and SOA server installation?

    Hi All,
I already have two weblogic application servers on my machine(that were installed by others).
I observed some environment variables were also set in System variables(ORACLE_HOME,WEB_SERVER_HOME etc) section in Env variables section(Start Menu---> Computer --> properties ---).But why do we need to have system environment variables wherein we already have those variables in files like setDomainEnv.bat or/and setSOADoaminEnv.bat for each server.
And one more thing system variables will be applicable for all servers(the whole machine) right. It may spoil the installation of new servers and present servers as variables should be unique to each server.
I want to install weblogic and SOA server installation.
So Can I remove the existing system variables(as they will applicable for every server) and install weblogic and SOA server installation without setting up the environment variables?
Especially I have multiple Weblogic servers,In that case how it would be to have environment variables(JAVA_HOME,WL_HOME,ORACLE_HOME etc)?
Please guide me on this to installl SOA suite .
    Thanks in advance

  • 1 Admin console to manage OSB and SOA installed on different servers

    Dear All,
We are planning to have OSB installed on Host 1 and SOA server installed on Host 2. But there will be one Admin console to manage these 2 for the ease of maintenance. When i was trying to install this configuration I had few issues. Hope SOA experts can help me with the configuration.
    1)
As SOA and OSB are installed on 2 different host both the servers must have weblogic installed as pre requisite. So I will have
    on host 1:
    http://host1:7001/console
    http://host1:7001/sbconsole
    On host 2:
    http://host2:7001/console (this is redundant)
    http://host2:8001/soa-infra
    2) Is it possible to inactivate http://host2:7001/console ? and add SOA server running on host2 to http://host1:7001/console. In the sense, I would like to control the SOA server from host 1.
    Issue No :2
When I create a domain on Host 1 I just get the options for OSB and not SOA. It is obvious as SOA is not installed on Host1. but if that is the case, Is it possible to add SOA server running on host2 to host1. Is it going to be a cluster?
Is this configuration seems realistic? Has anyone implemented. Any pointers please.
    Reagrds,
    Aani

  • SOA managed server and SOA infra not starting

    Hi
I have my database and listener up and running. I can also successfully start SOA Administration server.
But I am unable to start SOA managed server. I can see SOA managed server getting started with WARNING and SOA infra always fails to start.
I tried using both from command line as well as from NodeManager but without any luck. As a result I am unable to proceed with Deployment as soa_server1 does not appear in Step 4 in Jdeveloper deployment GUI dialog. I would also like to ask from the Gurus:
How can I start soa-infra alone as I cannot see any command from the command line to individually start soa-infra ?
Here is my part of output from soa_server1. The exception errors keep logging in loop and the file is growing. I had to terminate the process:

    Hi
    Thanks for your reply
Here is my installation details on Linux 32 bit OS:
    Weblogic server- wls1032_linux32.bin
    Repository Creation Utility- ofm_rcu_linux_11.1.1.2.1_disk1_1of1.zip
    SOA Suite- ofm_soa_generic_11.1.1.2.0_disk1_1of1.zip
    JDeveloper Studio, base install- jdevstudio11112install.jar
    SOA Extension for JDeveloper- ofm_osb_generic_11.1.1.3.0_disk1_1of1.zip
The installation went very smooth and there was no errors in the same.
I can successfully start the Weblogic Administration server from the command line but unable to start successfully SOA Managed (soa_server1), Infra and BAM server (bam_server1). I tried starting SOA Managed (soa_server1) from command line as well as from Weblogic console EM (after starting Node Manager) but always receiving the errors I uploaded in my post earlier. As a result I am unable to deploy any composite application
    Please advice

  • Oracle EBS 12.1.3 and SOA 10g hardware sizing

    Hi All,
To give you the background, we have integration requirements where in one of the interface about 20000 sales orders come in the system everyday and they have about 3-5 lines per sales order. Most of these orders come between 3-6 PM. We have 50 other interfaces along with this but this is a major one. Client is concerned about performance and so we have to give right design and right hardware sizing so that the system is able to handle all the load without causing performance issues. We are planing to use Oracle EBS 12.1.3 and SOA Suite 10.1.3.5 (10g)
Any processes, documentation on how to go about hardware sizing, tools will be helpful
    Thanks,
    Rahul

  • FTP Adapter, B2b and SOA performance Test

    Hi All,
We have a requirement to processes Large XML files ranging from 1 MB to 200 MB. Our Flow is FTP Adapter picks the XML's Repeatable Nodes. BPEL Transforms and Loops thru each XML node and calls B2B Adapter in Each Loop. We are doing Advanced EDI batching to aggregate all the nodes in one XML to one EDI. Files upto 7 MB are working fine with FTP fileraise property= 1 and polling frequency=300s. Files with 14MB are failing with JTA transaction Time Out (Time Out Set=500s) and Server running in PROD mode. We are using SOA Suite 11.1.1.7 and HIPAA 834 Transactions. Is there a Payload size Limitation For FTP Adapter or SOA Suite? Do we need to Follow a different approach to achieve our functionality? Do we need to set any Performance parameters? Please share your thoughts.

  • BPM and SOA will Support Windows Server 2003 R2 x64

    Hello All -
Can you please tell me, BPM and SOA Suite (10g and 11g) can support the following Server?
    Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition Service Pack2.
    Thanks in advance.

Here's where you can find the compatibility matrix for Oracle BPM 10g with platforms, operating systems, JVMs and databases: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bpm/obpm-config-matrix-085247.html#bpms1032
Getting the same compatibility information for Oracle BPM 11g proves a bit more difficult. The closest I've come to finding a similar list is when I went to http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/E18558_01/fusion_requirements.htm. Sure others will have fond an easier route to the information for 11g.

  • BPM and SOA - Please explain

I am curious to learn - What is the link between EP and SOA? And the link between BPM and SOA?
Your inputs will be much appreciated.
    Best wishes,
    Dharmi

SOA is an Architecture principle to design, manage and govern enterprise solution using implementation independent interfaces and Web Service is a technology which support most of the SOA realization requirements.
When we design  solution in services, services can be different types. Services are the building blocks of the IT solution you design to address the business solutions.
    In a practical case
A collection of business requirements will be analysed using common practice to understand the business sub systems, business functions, each sub systems types such as major and minor, functional sub systems roles and resposibilities, and functional sub systems functional entities.
Once you have identified all the above for a business requirement you can map the requirements in business use cases where business use cases can be mapped to business sub system's functions
Once the use cases are derived, you can decompose them into business transactions. Each business transaction accomplish something relevant for a use case so that using use case realization business can implement the IT enablement of the business requirement.
Once you know the business transaction and their message types, you can make them to a business process.
Each business process can then decompose further into business process entities, roles, and responsbilities in such a way so that a given process entity can serve multiple functional entities requirement.
Once you have the process entities you can logically grop them together based on the business transaction so that process entities act on transaction message through TASKS.
Once you know all these together you can map process entities and task to implementation independent interfaces which can be considered as SERVICE candates.
Once you are at the phase of business process, you can apply BPM modeling tactics to optimize them in terms of all influencing forces.
SO BPM and SOA work together to derive the best service to serve the business requirements in SOA based computing

  • BPM and SOA

    Hi all,
I would like know your feeling about BPM and SOA.
Are BPM and SOA on top one of the other from a stack point of view ?
Or BPM and SOA are the two sides of the same coin ?
In your opinion is BPM that deliver service orientation or service-orientation comes from something called SOA ?
Thanks in advance for your feedbacks.

    Hello Pierluigi,
Business Process Management (BPM) is a term used basically for two things:
    1. A way to run, monitor and improve your business execution (the Business part)
    2. The name of specific tooling to support the above (the IT part)
There are non-techical aspects of BPM: there can be procudure changes, organization changes, role changes, product changes to achieve the goal of business improvement, which have nothing to do with IT. These are results of strategic, tactical or operational planning. Business process management is just a term for controlling and improving your processes: facilitated by anything which helps. (In BPM projects therefore some things might be better solved NOT trying to get everything automated.)
Where automation can help this, the IT part gets involved.
The IT part of BPM is where processes are modelled, controlled, monitored and changed through tooling. And tooling to run processes like workflow engines or process engines. Any form of process automation can be ranked under BPM. BPM as and IT concept than means that the processes are controlled and monitored by a separate component of your IT archtecture. This component in NOT actually performing system updates or transactions, it is merely administers the process-meta data of the execution, and orchestrates the events and actions which have to be performed to succesfully execute the process.
Where SOA gets involved is when you apply the open web services standard to design your running components in your BPM solution. Web services to utilize and support the process, web services to help the user interaction, web services to support the business transaction, and web services to actually update the systems. So SOA is just a way of implementing and supporting a BPM solution. On enterprise level it is wise to take the SOA route because interoperability is key to make things work, and changes/additions/integrations can be made far more easily when using the open web services definition rather than proprietary implementations.
The SOA design concept can also be used in non-BPM scenarios. When defining re-usable services which accomodate just simple transactions or look-up functions where no specific workflow is involved (PO Box lookup, search functions, etc.), web services can be a great way of providing an open interface to business logic.
Summarizing: BPM and SOA are two completely separate concepts and can be implemented without each other. However, when applied on enterprise level, the SOA design pattern will help you achieve the business agility goals you might have with your BPM implementation.
I hope this helps making things clear.
    Regards, Edo van de Velde

  • Schema Centralization: Among OSB, SOA Suite1 and SOA Suite2

    Gurus,
I want to implement a schema centralization pattern for a hypothetical scenario which is as follows:
Consider a company xyz inc. which has an OSB, SOA Suite1 (Finance dept has a dedicated soa suite) and SOA Suite2 (this is common integration platform) installations in their production environment.
I would like to design canonical schemas for business objects for xyz inc. and since they are shared across all the services, i would like to store them centrally so that changes can be easily propagated to all the services using them.
Oracle suggests using MDS for SOA Suite for storing common artifacts.
However, these artifacts can only be locally referred by composite apps (using oramds: references) deployed on that SOA Suite installation.
The question is what is the best practice around sharing such common artifacts across soa suite installations and OSB installations.
Is http server a good idea for this? Hi
Can OSB refer to artifacts using HTTP URLs at runtime without referring them locally? (I am not an expert on OSB so apology if the question is too naive.)
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide on this.
    With kind regards-
    Ashish

    Hi Eric,
    Thanks for your quick response.
I was just scouting for information around this and I came across a concept of Resource Servlet -- "http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e15867/configuringandusingservices.htm#i1143285" in OSB.
So, how about the next configuration? --
Instead of using http server as in your case, can we not use OSB Reource Servlet URL to refer to the artifacts of sharedResources project?
That way we can avoid overhead of maintaining HTTP server and a sync job.
With your experience, what's your take on this configuration?
    Thanks-
    Ashish

  • Coherence, OSB and SOA integration

    Hi,
I have a WL domain, that consists on a SOA cluster and a OSB cluster. I want to have external cache servers, as it is the preferred option provided by Oracle, so I have external processes which starts a cache, loads data from database, and create a Coherence cluster.
I have tried different options for deployment and havinfg issues with all of them.
In my domain (FMW 11.1.1.6), I have not deployed the coherence libs, as they are included in the server modules. I start the external process, which points to the coherence lib in FMW_MODULES, and load everything. So far so good. When I start the managed servers for OSB cluster and SOA clusters I get a lot of errors, like:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No scheme for cache: "/soa-infra/deployment/members/mydomain_development_soa_cluster"
I don't know if I should create different coherence clusters, one for my apps, and one for built in OSB+SOA functionality, or I could use the same. If I use the same, where should I put cache configurations, and where can I see built in cache definitions.
If I should create a new cluster for my functionality, how could I do it, knowing that I will not be bundling only J2EE apps, but also global libraries, and security providers using these coherence infrastructure.
Do I need activecache for anything?
    Documentation is not very clear.
    Thanks for your support.

If I should create a new cluster for my functionality, how could I do it, knowing that I will not be bundling only J2EE apps, but also global libraries, and security providers using these coherence infrastructure.
Do I need activecache for anything?
    Documentation is not very clear.
    Thanks for your support.Hi,
Oracle SOA Suite 11g leverages an embedded Coherence cache to coordinate several cluster-wide activities including composite deployment. Coherence cache-config is pre-defined for SOA Cluster, and all SOA composite application will inherit this. This cache-config is zipped in fabric-runtime.jar with the name of soa-coherence-cache-config.xml and tangosol-coherence-override.xml is also included in fabric-runtime.jar that enforces SOA server to use soa-coherence-cache-config.xml. Now you have 2 options to make it work,
    1) Make managed servers join the external Coherence cluster as storage-disabled nodes: In order to accomplish it, you need to ensure that the configuration (soa-coherence-cache-config.xml and tangosol-coherence-override.xml) used by cache servers are same as used by SOA Suite(except, storage flag). Also, note that you need to merge your cache server configuration into soa-coherence-cache-config.xml because SOA Suite requires all the caches that are predefined in soa-coherence-cache-config.xml and reference this merged configuration file in you cache server and also in SOA cluster by modifying tangosol-coherence-override.xml
    2) Managed Servers access the Coherence cluster as extend clients: In order to accomplish it, modify soa-coherence-cache-config.xml and add remote-scheme to access the external Coherence cluster. You need to ensure that you provide a tangosol-coherence-override.xml to your cache servers so that they form a seperate cluster and not try joining the SOA Suite cluster.
    You are getting the error:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No scheme for cache: "/soa-infra/deployment/members/mydomain_development_soa_cluster"Your coherence cluster is using the same multicast ip/port for this cluster as used by the SOA Coherence cluster on startup but a different configuration file is used by your Coherence cluster than soa-coherence-cache-config.xml.
Try following option1 and it should help solve your problem.
Please note, modifying fabric-runtime.jar is not recommended by Product Management and is just a work around. Also, I would suggest you to understand licensing from Oracle Sales Rep.
    Hope this helps!
    Cheers,
    NJ
