  • Basic webpage link checker

    Hello all,
    I am attempting to write a basic link checker to parse an html page and determine if any links are dead. I found a couple tutorials online, and am using one of them to test a webpage. However, i am running into multiple problems. The basic link checker verifies links by using the http HEAD request, it then checks the response code and determines from there if the link is dead.
    However, I have two major problems with this:
    1) How can I verify links when they are not using http, for instance a ftp link on a webpage?
    2) Sometimes when I parse link, i am losing the protocol from the link....
    ie. href="http://www.ibm.com/systems/x/=>href="//www.ibm.com/systems/x/"
                 Reader rd = getReader(rootURI);
                  // Parse the HTML.
                  kit.read(rd, doc, 0);
                  // Iterate through the elements
                  // of the HTML document.
                  ElementIterator it = new ElementIterator(doc);
                  javax.swing.text.Element elem;
                  System.out.println("Starting Validation from: " + rootURI);
                  while ((elem = it.next()) != null) {
                    SimpleAttributeSet s = (SimpleAttributeSet)elem.getAttributes().getAttribute(HTML.Tag.A);
                    if (s != null) {
                      System.out.println("attributeSet: " + s);
                      String link = (String)s.getAttribute(HTML.Attribute.HREF);
                      System.out.println("Validating: " + link);
                      validateHref(link);
                    }else{
                      //System.out.println("Attribute set is empty");
                      //flag this to user
                  }This is the block of code i am using to extract the link from the html source. My console output looks like this:
    [stdout]
    attributeSet: href=//www.ibm.com/systems/x/ class=left-nav-overview
    Validating: //www.ibm.com/systems/x/
    [stdout]
    However, looking at the html source, the link should be http protocol....ie. http://www.ibm.com/systems/x , since i later check to make sure that http protocal urls start with "http:", these links that do not have http: at the beginning are being ignored...
    Can someone please help and explain to me how I can fix this? Also, i am eventually planning to turn this into more of a web spider, and traverse levels of pages checking and validating the links.
    Thank you,
    Nick

  • Issue Applying Simple Links In SharePoint 2013

    Having recently migrated a site from 2010 to 2013, I have now started enhancing existing pages whilst adding new one's also.
    However, I am unable to add basic links to either text or graphics in 2013? This is frustrating and bizarre.
    Typically, I create a thumbnail image and host it on the appropriate SharePoint page, then copy the URL of the page I want it to point to, then add the link to the image, using the
    Link feature in the ribbon.
    Simple? You would think so.
    However, in 2010 it worked without issue. In 2013 it permits me to perform the aforesaid actions. (I even use the
    test link feature which confirms the link is correct, yet after saving the page, clicking on the thumbnail thereafter, the links points to the typical

    I've not experiened this before. Having tried all obvious options I cannot currently apply links to either text or graphics in 2013 which is greatly impacting my project work.
    Any ideas or suggestions very welcome.

  • Ability to link directly to a specific portion of text, not a page view or zoomed view

    Adobe Acrobat XI Pro - it is still a pdf editor according to the description Adobe has on its product description pages.
    So why is it so clunky to create a basic link to a specific sentence or paragraph?
    This feature works seamlessly in Word. Yes, in Acrobat you can link to a general page destination, and you can blow that view up to show it - but that just looks weird when the reader is suddenly confronted with zoomed in text as he or she is browsing a file I send and clicks the link I created. It breaks the reading flow.
    Some detail of what I mean:
    I send a pdf to a customer. I created it from Word. I have a header - I want to link it to a specific sentence further in the document. The customer clicks the link and suddenly his eyes pop out of his head as I have had to expand the page view with my link so that he sees it straight away. Or I choose not to expand the view and instead when he clicks the link he sees a whole page. Now he has to browse through the entire page to find what I want him to see - not very good for keeping a customer happy.
    This seems to be such a simple feature to add that I am disappointed Acrobat doesn't offer it.
    Please - whatever the nature of the beast that you developers think this product is, some features are kind of basic and important still. This is one of them and it is painful that it is still absent.
    PS: I have a feeling that this feature as I described it once existed, long ago. I used to receive help files for software and am nearly certain I was able way back then to click to specific paragraphs.

    The ISO32000 PDF standard says that a bookmark or link must point to a 'destination', which are defined by page numbers, zoom levels and x/y coordinates. They cannot refer to a position within text or other content.

  • Is it possible to link from a folio to another (precisions inside) ?

    Hello !
    Is it possible to linkf rom a folio to another ?
    And is it possible to do this linking : in "FOLIO#1 article#32" put a link on it that goes to "FOLIO#3 article#17"
    Thanx for your answers !

    m'kay, dunno if I'll use this "you didn't hear it from me" feature, cause i got to link 80 articles in 3 folios (each time), and i'd beter find a solution that works everytime.
    Means, gotta put all this in a single folio. WIll be a mess, but i got to have to have it working in the end ...
    Still, I wonder why it is so hard to have "basic links" like "navto://folioname1:article2" ?
    Especially in cases (like this one, actually) where i'm the only one to use this on my content viewer and in my folio producer (but in all case would be even better of course).
    Thanx for your answer anyway !

  • How to include HTML link in BI Publisher Report?

    Hi,
    I am trying to include an HTML link in a BI Publisher report. But I get the HTML Code, not the link.
    I have put this in the Data Set SQL Query:
    select id_constancia, rfc, apellido_paterno, apellido_materno, nombre, e_mail_empleado,
    'a href="http://dbxserver.dbxprts.com:7778/pls/apex/f?p=134:1:::NO::P1_ID_CONSTANCIA:'||ID_CONSTANCIA||'">CITA</a ' as liga_cita
    from geiq_constancias
    where entregada = '0' and sust_rh = '0'
    And I have included the field LIGA_CITA in the rtf template,
    But I get this in the HTML output:
    =======
    Please clic on the link below to log into the system:
    a href="http://dbxserver.dbxprts.com:7778/pls/apex/f?p=134:1:::NO::P1_ID_CONSTANCIA:1183">CITA</a
    =========
    (I removed the beginning and ending '<''>' to prevent the text to be shown as a link)
    I have put the property "Make HTML output accessible" to TRUE in the report configuration, but nothing changes.
    Does anyone know how to make this work?
    Thanks.
    Francisco

    Hi Francisco,
    Note:
    your xml should only have
    <URL>http://dbxserver.dbxprts.com:7778/pls/apex/f?p=134:1:::NO::P1_ID_CONSTANCIA:1183</URL>
    Show me your sample XML , i can help you.
    What is your expected output ? PDF or HTML ?
    here it is.
    option1:
    If the XML data includes an element that contains a hyperlink , then you can use that element to create dynamic hyperlinks at runtime.
    a. insert hyperlink from word menu
    b. In the Type the file or Web page name field of the Insert Hyperlink dialog box, enter the following syntax:
    c. {ELEMENT_NAME_WHICH_HAS_URL_LINK}
    where ELEMENT_NAME_WHICH_HAS_URL_LINK is the xml data element name
    option2:
    create a form field, you can add it
    <fo:basic-link external-destination="http://www.google..com">
    <fo:inline text-decoration="underline">google Link</fo:inline>
    </fo:basic-link>
    or
    <fo:basic-link external-destination="{ELEMENT_NAME}">
    <fo:inline text-decoration="underline">google Link</fo:inline>
    </fo:basic-link>
    or
    <fo:basic-link>
    <xsl:attribute name="external-destination"><xsl:value-of select="ELEMENT_URL"/>
    </xsl:attribute>
           <xsl:value-of select="LINK_NAME"/>
    </fo:basic-link>

  • How to apply outbound link tracking code in Adobe Muse?

    Using Adobe Muse v6 to build my website and want to set up outbound URL tracking on a number of links.
    I have the correct code snippets from https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1136920?hl=en
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function trackOutboundLink(link, category, action) {
    try {
    _gaq.push(['_trackEvent', category , action]);
    } catch(err){}
    setTimeout(function() {
    document.location.href = link.href;
    }, 100);
    </script>
    and
    <a href="http://www.example.com" onClick="trackOutboundLink(this, 'Outbound Links', 'example.com'); return false;">
    However Adobe Muse adds the a href code to the basic links in the back end, all I usually add is the http://www.example.com part.
    Does anyone know a way to add the onClick="trackOutboundLink(this, 'Outbound Links', 'example.com'); return false; string to my URL to make it work?
    I have tried using http://www.example.com"?onClick="trackOutboundLink(this, 'Outbound Links', 'example.com'); return false;
    But it doesn't seem to work... Help appreciated.

    Hello,
    As per the instructions on link below you need to insert the code in <Head> section of the page.
    Conversion Tracking and Optimization | Facebook Help Center | Facebook
    Once you receive the code from Facebook you can insert it in Muse site.
    Open the page in Design mode and go to Page > Page Properties > Metadata > Html for <head>
    Paste the code in the space mentioned in the screenshot and you should be all set

  • How to use Spry validation with link styled submit buttons..??

    I'm working with a theme package that comes with a bunch of button styles that work with basic links.  For example:
    <a href='page.html' class='small-button smallblue'><span>Button Label</span></a>
    I've got a basic form setup with Spry validation, but the submit button needs some styling to make it look nice with the site.  Since there are already styles ready for me to turn links into buttons I figured I'd use the same thing for my submit buttons.
    To accomplish that, I'm using the following javascript...
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function submitForm() {
        document.getElementById("form_name").submit();
    </script>
    And then I'm updating my submit button to something like this...
    <a href='javascript: submitForm()' class='small-button smallblue'><span>Button Label</span></a>
    When I do this, the form submits as expected, but the Spry validation doesn't work.  Is there a way I can make the Spry stuff work with these types of buttons?  I know I could create separate styles for the submit buttons themselves, or I could use an image type button, but I'd really like to figure out how to get these existing styles to work for me since the theme already has so many of them done for me.
    Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

    Save yourself a lot of trouble and style the normal submit button as per
    <!doctype html>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Untitled Document</title>
    <script src="SpryAssets/SpryValidationTextField.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

  • Link to file on Shared Drive

    In one of my report output, I need to include a link(url) to file on Shared Drive. The path is stored in database and it will be retrieved in query. The file can be either PDF/WORD/Excel for now.
    For ex. e:\\abc\share\test.xls should appear as url in report and when user clicks the url, it should open the test.xls file.
    Could some body help me how to do this?
    Thank You.

    Hi..
    I have the same scenario..
    One of the columns in the xml file has a path on the shared drive..
    like...
    S:\MANAGERS\xxxx.doc
    when the user clicks on the hyperlink the documnet doesn't open and is giving an error as
    cannot find file:///u01/oracle/product/10.1.3/dmidr3/j2ee/home/S:\MANAGERS\xxxx%20.doc make sure the path or internet address is correct.
    As you can see the report is adding the path ///u01/oracle/product/10.1.3/dmidr3/j2ee/home/ before the actual path that appears in the report.
    Snippet of my xml file..

  • Create a Template Editable Region Link with static "label"?

    Hello.
    Does anybody know how to create a simple, basic link on my template (just the word "LINK" will do) . . . . and put an Editable Field *behind* the "LINK" . . . so I can change the link destination link on each child page?
    So, in the particular child page, the visitor clicks on "LINK" . . . then goes to a specific destination URL just for that child page?
    Thanks.

    Chamuel333 wrote: Nadia . . . I have *attached* a screen shot of the error message I receive to this post (I figured that will eliminate the risk of me screwing-up a description of exactly what it says . . . and wasting your time).
    And, lastly, here is the exact code causing that error message:
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="change-link" --><a href="http://annapolis-resume.com/Links.html" class="style7">Links</a><!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    Thank you so much for your help with my beginner question!
    Jim
    That's pretty much the code I suppied originally and then removed thinking you'd prefer blus' method, which isn't all that hard to do by the way.
    The error message is saying that the template markup is sitting insite a block element, something like a paragraph, which is a block element,  for example.
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="change-link" --><a href="http://annapolis-resume.com/Links.html" class="style7">Links</a><!-- TemplateEndEditable --></p>
    If so, move the template markup outside of the <p> attribute like so:
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="change-link" --><p><a href="http://annapolis-resume.com/Links.html" class="style7">Links</a></p><!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    This will make the paragraph editable.
    If that's not the problem, and you don't have the link inside a paragraph, then post a bit of code that surrounds that template markup that you have.  Better yet, if you can post a link to the page maybe even better  (if you can upload it to a server).

  • Link Tracking and A Review App Questions

    OK, I am not sure exactly which iWeb program I am using - I hope it doesn't matter too much.
    So I am developing a marketing website and in need of a basic link tracking from where the web surfer came from, where they went to next, how long they spent on the site etc. Or something that is close as it cane to meet the specs from above.
    Secondly, I also need a review application of some sort which will allow web surfers who have used the listed product to review it and rate it for other fellow web surfers.
    Any suggestions for either is highly appreciated.
    Many thanks for your time.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. It does matter what version of iWeb you're using. Go to the iWeb menu and select the "About iWeb" option. If you're running iWeb 1 a lot of what you want to do will be very difficult. iWeb 2 is better and 3 would be best.
    For visitor tracking you can use a 3rd party counter like StatCounter which gives you information on visitors like this:
    and this:

    This tutorial describes how to add it to each page in an HTML snippet: Old Toad's Tutorial #13 - Adding a StatCounter as an HTML Snippet.

    hi
    there is another way to drill down the report of web intelligence.for that we have to customize in the universe level create a folder in custom hierarchy and add your two objects to that folder, i.e empid. and deptid. the order of these objects should be in the way the drilling happens that means if you want to drill down from empid. to deptid. then empid. should be the first object of the folder,save and export the universe to the CMS.Then it ready to use for webi report.Build the query for the report and enable the drill option in the report.Now the report is ready for your requirement.

  • Actions list weird, can't find basic things.

    Hello,
    [Quick intro: This is my first time on the site so hello! My name is Jason, I'm an artist, graphic designer, and animator, and I use most Adobe products in creating my artwork and videos.]
    So, here is my problem. I used to use drag and drop stuff to create websites and just recently got into using Flash and Dreamweaver. I am using the CS3 versions of both of these programs. What I'm trying to do now is make an animated button that's also a link to another page on my site. I was able to make the button in Flash with an up state, animated over state, down, hit and all. My problems are as follows:
    1. It's a link on my index page and I'm trying to make it link to my main page where there's the menu and links to the rest of the site... but I don't know how to make the button a clickable link. I've searched for tutorials and guides online, and it seems I have to do a getURL action on it, but I'm not sure that I'm doing it right (I'm copy and pasting examples and switching in my own link): it ends up looking like this:
    on(release)
    getURL("http://www.example.com", "_blank");
    I'm not familiar with the code, but it seems simple enough. Anyway, I'm trying this with just basic links to standard websites, and I can't seem to get it to work.
    2. A major problem I have is with creating the actions themselves. My menu for selecting the actions is weird; I see on all these tutorials that there's are menus that you can select it like this:
    Though, my menu for actions looks like this:
    Tons and tons of fl.something things... I can't find any of these getURL menus, or anything like that.
    So, am I going about making this animated button a link correctly? Is there an easier way to do it? Is there some easier way to do it in Dreamweaver after I've already created the button? Also, one last little question. When I have the button done, should it be saved as a .fla file? Or exported as a .swf file?
    Sorry for bombarding everyone with questions in my first post, but I've been at this for hours and hours and I feel like I'm going in circles looking at these tutorials and guides.
    Thanks so much!
    Jason

    I tried again, making sure that actionscript 2.0 was selected (though, when I went to the menu it already was). Here's what I have: I just drew a simple black box for the button just to test (Up, down, over and hit area all the same). So I put that in the stage, and put the action on it as you can see at the bottom. On the right in the pic is the settings in publish settings. (Action script 2.0 is selected).
