2. Integration Server
3. Central Monitoring
4. Adapter Engine
What else include in XI component?.
Will SLD is xi component?.

Hey Guys,
To know that either SLD is part of XI or it belongs to other module as well, please see page 6 of the help file of SLD where it is written <b>"Information in the SLD is used by various SAP tools, for example, for planning and performing upgrades to the system landscape (Software Lifecycle Manager of SAP NetWeaver), finding destination information for ABAP systems and Web services (Web Dynpro), and for maintaining development information by the SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI)."</b> For more see the below link:

  • Lightening strike "fried" all components. What effect on Mac?

I had lightening strike a tree & bounce over to my Chimney on St. Paddy's day, evening. It "fried" all of my computer components & Comcast boxes & more. Can you give me a list of all of the problems that that could have caused to my Macbook? (Most say, if it is not black or does NOT turn on, then it could be "hardware issue" related to LIGHTENING STRIKE. And they say that all the problems that I have been having are "software issues" & NOT related to the lightening.
IF ANYONE CAN GIVE ME VALIDATION THAT THE LIGHTENING STRIKE CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY MAC, THE INSURANCE COMPANY WILL BUY ME A NEW ONE! (Of course, I will need to know who to go to to get this VALIDATED.)
I hope that someone is creative enough or has had this experience to know that it CAN happen. I need all the help that I can get!
[Some of you may have read & hopefully will be helping me with my loss of OS Apps, Time Machine, saving on MyBook from my post on HT 3275
TIME MACHINE GONE... EARLIER, OTHER OS APPS NOT THERE, DAMAGED MAC from what??
    & HOW TO UN-INSTALL MacKeeper.]
I am still LOST in that one... Nothing that I have tried has changed anything.
Thank you all for being so patient with someone who doesn't really know & understand the technical side of Macs. I do well to get this "bloody" Mac to work, since I got it.

    Ralph L1,
    Thank you for your response.
Lightning strikes can cause a myriad of problems that may or may not include total destruction of electronic components.  Surge protectors may help, but do not always help with lightning strikes as the induced voltage and duration of the surge may not allow the surge protector time to trip.
I have learned that surge protectors do NOT protect from lightening strikes! Only electrical surges. There used to be one compay & our Electrical Company, NES, who sold actual Lightening Protection Devices. NES no longer provides those, so nothing will protect against an electrical strike.
I was also told that while most of one's components can be "fried", that computers have a built in protection that must be pretty powerful to have NOT damaged my Macbook with the lightening strike.
You don't say why the chimney damage is relevant...was there an electrical, cable, dish antenna associated with the chimney?
No, it was St. Paddy's evening, March 17. I was gone for 2 hours & came home & had no electricity. I hit the breakers & all came back on, but my TV & computer. I called out NES & they saw some "burn" in the internal box outside. It took me several days to realize what had happened. I went to put something in my storage building which is attached to the house & happened to look up & 2/3 of my chimney was gone. First thinking wind or tree branch?? Then, I started finding pieces of brick & mortar on the side of the house where I would have been parking & then in the back yard & finally at least 150 ft back in the yard & knew that no wind could have done that. Finally, one guy said that my chimney had been struck by lightening. And then another saw exactly what had happened. Lightening hit the top of a sweet gum tree outside of my fence, came down to a knot & a V in the trunk & bounced over to my chimney & went down the chimney & through my electrical system in the lower level of my house. Clearly, my Vonage box was "fried", as was my modem, router, TV cable box, phones, & many other electrical components.
So, I was hoping that SOMEONE reading here might just have experienced a lightening strike that DID DAMAGE THEIR MAC & COULD TELL ME WHAT TO DO TO SUPPORT THAT, as the insurance company would buy me a new one.
Yes, I have been having issues with my Macbook, thanks to NO help from Apple after paying to 3 years coverage & being on the phone with them for hours at a time & months at a time. I had an "issue" that happened about 1 year into my warranty & they did NOT fix it. The "genius" was rude & put >8,000 files in ONE folder, for ME to deal with. Lost all of my folders, albums, grouped items & it is still a mess.
I plan to write the HEAD of Apple when I get other issues in my life resolved, even if it is way past the "coverage date". You have no idea what I have gone through & the displeasure that I have had out of this Macbook because of them. I suffer from a debilitating disease that keeps me from getting things done in a timely manner & right now I am overwhelmed & pretty much "immobilized". I have been on disabiltiy since 1993, spent most of my life savings as a professional single woman, so I have no money to get a nearly 4 year old Mac repaired that should have been "fixed" while under warranty!!
However, each time I use my Mac, something else happens... the "spinning ball of death" is about to make me throw this "bloody thing" across the room. Now, my Time Machine is "missing". My MyBook external HD is NOT working. I am told that several other parts of my Operating System are missing, e.g. the Launch Agent, whatever that is & I have no idea what else & that my Mac IS damaged. I was told that I needed to Re-Install my OS, which would be fine, IF my Time Machine & External HD that was saving all of my back-ups were working.
Then I stupidly... ignorantly installed MacKeeper & everyone says that needs to be UN-INSTALLED ASAP, but with all the issues that I am having, & the "how to UN-INSTALL, NOT using MacKeeper...", I cannot understand it. I have tried & one person has been trying to help me to no avail. I am "terrified" of losing all of my information & of my Macbook finally dying, due to stupid things.
Please have a look at the posts on my case about that & if you can help me, I would be very grateful.

  • SDK Subclassing Components Discussion, What Do You Think?

Take this message as a blog, thought, discussion, or really whatever you feel like it should be, but I felt this should dually be noted some where within a Flex community and what better place than here.  This is a bit of a vent, or more like a "why did they do it this way"...so take it as you please.
In my past, I feel that I've had the most trouble with Flex in subclassing to get my components exactly how I want them.  Mainly because some components are up to the neck in private variables/functions that simply overriding the class becomes an entirely new component that's copy and pasted (bad, very bad!) to work or look a certain way and hoping that you don't get runtime errors.
For example, MenuBars are up to the teeth in private properties/functions.  The class has this dreaded private variable MARGIN_WIDTH which tags about 10 pixels of extended menubar to the ends for some reason... To actually get rid of it, you have to recreate the variable and with that comes copy and pasting the measure and updateDisplay methods.
My job persists that we develop an application that is aesthetically appealing and different.  I very well agree with them and it's very rewarding to get it to work.  But hacking components to death, isn't really a long term goal if this SDK flips over like it did from AS2 to AS3.  I think most visual components should inherently have Protected all over the place instead of Private.  What are your thoughts?
I came across a discussion within a Yahoo group that clarified more on why so many components are kept private and it's tagged below, definitely worth a read.
    Thanks,
    Skitch
I think what he is referring to is that within the Adobe Framework it
is standard practice to declare event handlers in a component as
    private.
When you (as a component developer) come to subclass the component
and need to override the event handling functionality of the super
class you cant as the handler is private. You can add another handler
for the same event which is very ineffecient but in any case you cant
stop the superclass handler from executing.
The only exceptions to handlers being private rule seems to me where
other Adobe dev's needed to extend a particular class and bumped in
to this very same issue so they went and changed that particular
super class handler to protected, lucky them!
i.e in the framework there are 7 private and 1 protected
mouseOverHandlers, the 1 being ListBase obviously where the DataGrid
and Tree developer found they needed to override it.
and to be honest, as I have said before, the "report this one
function/var at a time" is unworkable/impractical, it needs someone
at Adobe to take a fresh look at the whole framework from the
perspective of a component developer. Yeah I understand component
developers represent an insignificant blip on the radar (though maybe
thats because the framework is so difficult to extend in the first
    place)
    Cheers!
    TGIF!

    hi,
I think the argument for the way components are written becomes less critical now that visual and functionality have been separated in spark, there is a lot more freedom in the ability to completely change a component visually and even adjust its behaviour simply by modifying a skin. Once people realise the power of the new skinning architecture I am sure we will see some incredible aesthetics and functionality and all done without the need to play with sdk behaviour or even create a custom component.

  • CRMOD workflow notification that Includes what has changed in a record

    Has anybody come up with a way to include inside workflow notifications what has changed when a record has been modified?  I know I could hard code a bunch of IIF(PRE('<field1>')<>[<field1>], 'Field 1 has changed from ' + PRE('<field1>') + ' to ' + [<field1>] + ', ', IIF(PRE('<field2>')<>[<field2>], 'Filed 2 has changed from ' + PRE('<field2>') + ' to ' + [<field2>] + ', ', ''))....  But if there is a less labor intensive solution that would be ideal?

  • IPhoto library file includes what?

Hi, I store my photos in folders under "Pictures". Sometime ago I opened up iPhoto and used it for my photos. I don't use it anymore as I find using my folders under "Pictures" far easier.
In "Pictures" there is a file called iPhoto library and this file size is 99GB. I want to get rid of it but obviously dont want any of my photos lost. Are these a duplicate of my photos which are stored under "Pictures"? How do I find out whether these are duplicates? I have taken a screen shot showing how I have organised my photos in various folders in "Pictures" and also the iPhoto library file that is appearing there.
Any advice in laymans terms will be much appreciated. Thanks very much.

By default all photos you import into iPhoto are copies to the iPhoto library - normal procedure is to delete them from the source and ony have them in hte iPhoto library.  We obviously have no way to knwo wha tyou have done
and note - there is no iPhoto file - theire is an iPhoto application in your applications folder and and iPhoto library - by default names iPhoto library and located in your pictures folder. It contains database files used by iPhoto for manageing photos and three version of your phtos - the original photo unchanged in the masters folder, a preview of the photo in the priviews folder which show the edited photos and a thumbnail in the thumbnails folder.
You can rignt click on the iPhoto library and show package contents and see eactly what is there - you can copy anything there outside for use without damage - if you change or delete anything from the iPhoto libray using the finder then it will corrupt it and iPhoto will no longe work properly with it
Personally iI think you are making a big mistake reverting to a file management system rather tha ta database managements system like iPhoto - it is much easier to use, very much more powerful and provided lots of additional feratures like intergration with other software, ability to share photos in many ways, etc - I suggest you take a class at yor local Apple store, read a book or take the online tutorials ( http://support.apple.com/videos#iphoto ) and learn how to use iPhoto - if hyou do I htink yhou will like it
    The choice is yours

  • HT4718 Can't download "aditional components" from recovery. Internet too slow. What do I do now?

    Hello,
I am overseas for a month and I had to erase my hard drive and do a fresh install of OSX Lion.
I erased my drive and all went fine. Now I am trying to reinstall the OS from the COMMAND+R menu. The problem is my internet connection here is too slow for the "aditional components" and it ends of hanging on 9 hours or something and then just says it failed to download the aditional components. I now it isn't a hardware issue because I have done this before while I was in the states with a fast conection and it worked both times I have reinstalled the OS.
I was wondering how large is the "aditional components"?
What is the point of the Recovery HD if I need to download the recovery from the internet anyway?
Who was the genius that made the decision to eliminate the install CDS? Espceically when were overpaying for these machines. And what made this genius assume that every one has access to fast internet speeds?
    Thank you,

And what made this genius assume that every one has access to fast internet speeds?
Requirements for reinstalling OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion
Reinstalling OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion via OS X Recovery requires broadband access to the Internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the Internet from Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.

  • What happened to the Titanium in ThinkPad T Series? Bring it back!

I have owned seven T series ThinkPads in my life, and I have converted to MacBook Pro.
Why has Lenovo removed the titanium from the T61?
IBM had named the T series for its titanium. That is where the T had come from.
They have said that they have removed it for better wireless connectivity. MacBooks are made of aluminum, and they connect perfectly. Furthermore, IBM titanium models had connected just fine as well.
To replace the sexy titanium cover with a cheap painted plastic is product line suicide!
The paint comes off the T61, and it feels so cheap.
This is why I have converted to MacBook Pro.
Lenovo, please bring back the titanium casing. The Z series had been brilliant. You did not give it a proper chance.
Professional notebooks are to be made of metal casing, titanium or aluminum. Anything else is substandard.
Bring back titanium, and you will see five immediate notebook purchases from me.
MacBook Pro, with an aluminum unibody enclosure **As of September 15, 2008, our company has completely switched to Apple. Having used ThinkPad products for over 10 years, we had desperately tried to find just one reason to continue using these products, to no avail. We are of the view that ThinkPads are no longer premium products. We wish you the best of luck with your ThinkPad! Happy computing…**

    Hello,
I have never seen an IBM or Lenovo ThinkPad T-series notebook with a titanium lid.  I checked this article on Wikipedia, and it did say that some models of the the Z60 series (and maybe the Z61t) had a titanium lid.  The Wikipedia article did state, though, that ThinkPads contain several novel components, including magnesium and titantium, carbon-fiber reinforced plastic and other composite materials and alloys.  So maybe there is some titanium, but just on the inside or at the hinges.
I have a friend who has one of the Apple Mac Books with the aluminum chassis, and he uses an external wireless card with it because he says its wireless reception is poor.  I believe he may have one of the older models, though, so this may be something which has been corrected in later generations.
If you really do want a titanium lid, perhaps you could order a sheet from a company like Online Metals, have whatever burnishing, laser-engraving, polishing, coatings and so forth applied, and then do some kind of chemical or RF weld to bond it to the lid.
Personally, though, I think that if you are going to go through that kind of effort, it might be more interesting use a material like palladium foil.  That might be a little more expensive, though, then using titanium.
If the issue, though, is just the color of the lid and not its place on the periodic table of the elements, then perhaps you could use a service like ColorWare, LaptopDesign or M-Tech to paint it for you?
I have often wondered how IBM chose up with the letters A, G, R, S, T and X to describe various models.  I had thought the "T"-series meant "thin-and-light" and not "titanium."  It is strange that they used "T" instead of "Ti" for the model name, but perhaps they wanted to avoid confusion with Texas Instruments who, in the past, has had their own notebook computer models.  I wonder what elements or materials the other letters in the other lines are supposed to represent?

  • "Best practice" for components calling components on different panels.

I'm very new to Swing. I have been learning from tutorials, but these are always relatively simple interfaces , in which every component and container is initialised and added in the constructor of a main JFrame (extension) object.
I would assume that more complex, real-world examples would have JPanels initialise themselves. For example, I am working on a project in which the JFrame holds multiple JPanels. One of these Panels holds a group of JToggleButtons (grouped in a ButtonGroup). The action event for each button involves calling the repaint method of one of the other Panels.
Obviously, if you initialise everything in the JFrame, you can simply have the ActionListener refer to the other JPanel directly, by making the ActionListener a nested class within the JFrame class. However, I would like the JPanels to initialise their own components, including setting the button actions, by using an extension of class JPanel which includes the ActionListeners as nested classes. Therefore the ActionListener has no direct access to JPanel it needs to repaint.
What, then, is considered "best practice" for allowing these components to interact (not simply in this situation, but more generally)? Should I pass a reference to the JPanel that needs to be repainted to the JPanel that contains the ActionListeners? Should I notify the main JFrame that the Action event has fired, and then have that call "repaint"? Or is there a more common or more correct way of doing this?
Similarly, one of the JPanels needs to use a field belonging to the JFrame that holds it. Should I pass a reference to this object to the JPanel, or should I have the JPanel use "getParent()", or some other method?
I realise there are no concrete answers to this query, but I am wondering whether there are accepted practices for achieving this. My instinct is to simply pass a JPanel reference to the JPanel that needs to call repaint, but I am unsure how extensible this would be, how tightly coupled these classes would become.
Any advice anybody could give me would be much appreciated. Sorry the question is so long-winded. :)

    Hello,
    nice to get feedback.
I've been looking at a few resources on this issue from my last post. In my application I have been using the Observer and Observable classes to implement the MVC pattern suggested by T.PD.(...)
Two issues (not fatal, but annoying) with this are:
-Observable is a class, not an interface; since most of my Observers already extend JPanel (or some such), I have had to create inner classes.
-If an Observer is observing multiple Observables, it will have to determine which Observer called its update() method (by using reference equality or class comparison or whatever). Again, a very minor issue, but something to keep in mind.I don't deem those issues are minor. The second one in particular, is rather annoying in terms of maintenance ("Err, remind me, which widget is calling this "update()" method?").
In addition to that, the Observable/Observer are legacy non-generified classes, that incurr a loosely-typed approach (the subject and context arguments to the update(Observable subject, Object context) methods give hardly any info in themselves, and they generally have to be cast to provide app-specific information.
Note that the "notification model" from AWT and Swing widgets is not Observer-Observable, but merely EventListener . Although we can only guess what reasons made them develop a specific notification model, I deem this essentially stems from those reasons.
The contrasting appraoches are discussed in this article from Bill Venners: The Event Generator Idiom (http://www.artima.com/designtechniques/eventgenP.html).
N.B.: this article is from a previous-millenary series of "Design Techniques" articles that I found very useful when I learned OO design (GUI or not).
One last nail against the Observer/Observable model: these are general classes that can be used regardless of the context (GUI/non-GUI code), so this makes it easier to forget about Swing threading rules when using them (essentially: is the update method called in the EDT or not).
If anybody has any information on the performance or efficiency of using Observable/ObserverI would be very surprised if this had any performance impact. If it had, that would mean that you have either:
    - a lot of widgets that are listening to one another (and then the Mediator pattern is almost a must to structure such entangled dependencies). And even then I don't think there could be any impact below a few thousands widgets.
    - expensive or long-running computation in the update methods. That's unrelated to the notification model itself.
    - a lot of non-GUI components that use the Observer/Observable to communicate among themselves - all the more risk then, to have a GUI update() called outside the EDT, see remark above.
(or whether there are inbuilt equivalents for Swing components)See discussion above.
As far as your remark 2 goes (if one observer observes more than one subjects, the update() method contains branching logic) : this also occurs with the Event Delegation model indeed: for example, it is quite common that people complain that their actionPerformed() method becomes unwieldy when the same class listens for several JButtons.
The usual advice for this is, use anonymous listeners, each of which handles the event from only one source (and generally very close in code to the definition of that source), and that simply translates the "generic" event notification method into a specific method call of a Controller or Mediator .
    Best regards.
    J.
