XI Config transportable?

Hi,
We have done some config in our XI for CCM catalogue upload etc. I have exported the configuration objects into a /sapmnt/<XI>/.../export/abc.tpz file in our Dev system which we have moved into the /sapmnt/<XI>/.../import/abc.tpz folder in our QA system. However when I go into Import config objects in our QA system, it does not find anything to import.
Can anyone please tell me if this is the way to transport XI config, or does it actually need to be done in each system?
Thanks,
Paula.

Hi Paula
Do you have exported / imported the design objects as well? This is done via the integration repository (Design: Integration Builder). This you need to do before you try to export / import the configuration objects because they build on the design objects.
How did you export the configuration objects? Did you export all objects of a partner, service, scenario or just a single object? In case of scenario: are all your configuration objects you want to transport assigned to the selected scenario?
Is your SLD correctly configured? During transports from DEV to QA platform the system transforms business system names participating in a scenario. This is done in order to avoid wrong configs after a transport to QA (or later PROD) platform and thus to avoid messages being sent to the wrong systems.
But after a successful transport you'll have to adopt your config anyway. Some config attributes are never transported.
Not sure if this helped you. I'd suggest to post your problem in the XI forum. There you will for sure find someone able to give a solution or at least to give some guideance.
Kind regards,
Renaud

                     I am doing configuration for profit center accounting. It is not asking request while saving the config. please help me how to transport this config to testing client as well as production client.

    I suppose you are implementing Classic PCA in CO.
    The transportation can be done thru
    SPRO - Controlling - Profit Center Accounting - Tools - Transport Customizing Settings

  • ALM config transports to QA

    Besides transporting Alert categories, are we expected to manually maintain the rest such as
    1. Alert scenarios in RWB-Alertconfiguration,
    2. Fixed recepients
    What about basic config necessary for ALM...are those also manually maintained in QA?
    Thanks,
    Pam

    > 1. Alert scenarios in RWB-Alertconfiguration,
    > 2. Fixed recepients
    Alert Rules in RWB need to be configured in every environment. THey do not get transported.
    Fixed recipients would be moved along with the Alert Class definitions while transporting.

  • Transport of Config

    Hi,
    I found out that while transporting a ABAP code a file is created at the server for that transport.But it is not the same for the Config transport.Is there some place from where transport logs for config can be extracted.
    thnx in advance
    Regards,
    Chirantan

    i need to create a report that will display the status for a TR..i.e. to which all systems it has been moved to.I have been able to do that successfully to some extend.
    What sap does in this case is that it creates a file at the server that contains the log for that particular TR,this file can be used to determine the status of the TR at a particular server.
    But in case of a "config TR" no such log file is created.Now, I need to check(without these logs-since they are not available) that they have moved to other systems.
    I hope the situtation is clear now.

  • Transport Best Practices - Cumulative Transports

    Hi All,
        I am looking for a some sort of authoritative guide from SAP on ECC Transport Best Practices, especially around merging/combining/accumulating multiple transports into fewer ones. We are a very large project, but we haven't figured out the CVSs like ChaRm so we still deal with individual transports.
    The reason I am asking this is that we some development leads on our project that insist that ALL transports that leave Development system must be imported into Production.  They claim this the SAP best practice.  An SAP consulting review of our system also left a vague note that "We are orphaning transports". This could mean that 1. either we are not importing all the stuff that leaves Dev system 2. or we are not keeping track of our code changes across all environments. Proponents of "All transports must get to PRD" are interpreting this as "1".
    I have my team cumulate transport for subsequent changes into newer transport and only take the newest Transport to Production.  The continuous rolling of old Transport into new one using SE01 "Include Objects" options ensures that all changes part of current development are in a single TR. Fewer transports mean fewer housekeeping across all systems, and less chances of something going out of sequence or missed out. This is for Workbench Transports only. I understand Config transports could get a little tricky with rolling in.
    If you can't point me to a link, what is your take on "Send everything to Prod" vs. "Combine changes into fewer Transports"?  I can't think of any software packaging methodology that suggests putting everything, including some junk/crap, into production build. I have looked at SAP enhancement packs, SPS, and Notes. I haven't found any evidence of  SAP including older buggy code in what it releases to its customers.
    Thank you all!

    Jānis, Christian,
        I think we are all on the same page.  Let me clarify my specific scenario a little bit more.
    We are about 15 ABAP developers team, for production support. We don't do huge changes. Our code updates are mostly limited to a handful of objects (average 2 - 5).  We often have multiple iterations to same objects. For large scale development objects, this approach may not work very well. Those should really utilize SolMan or other CVS tools.
    Here is How I have my team putting together final transport.
    step 1. Change is done to object X. Transport #1 created and released after standard checks.
    step 2. More change is needed for object X.  Transport #2 Started.  Transport #1 is brought in using SE01 include objects at the main task. Changed objects are in lower tasks. This way, I can tell what was brought over, and what really changed this time.  Releases of the Transport #2 inspects all objects and insures all objects from #1 are included in #2, and that there are no other changes between #1 and #2 to any of the objects.  This is very easy check mostly from Version History.
    Step 3. More changes needed to object X and Y. Transport #3 started.  Transport #2 brought in at main task. Same check from Step 2 is done to ensure no other changes exist.
    step 4....6. Step 6 ended at Transport #6.  All changes verified in QA system.
    Only the Transport #6 needs to be sent to Production since previous Transports 1 to 5 were rolled into #6.
    Jānis, the deletions will be covered automatically just like standard SAP.  No special manual steps needed.
    Christian,
       The transport of copies works in similar way.  Only thing different is that the Main/cumulative transport is released at very last, possibly after QA tests have been confirmed.
    I had thought about doing Copies vs. cumulative.  I preferred to go with having Transport in QA already at the time of approval. I would have hard time explaining to our client why a Transport was released out of Dev After all tests were done and signed off.
    However, the Copies have advantage that intermediate versions or parallel changes of same objects are easily recognized upfront vs. us having to check each transport before release.
    Jānis,  the "copies of Transport" also creates extra versions in version history just like manually adding objects in a transport.
    My quick analysis between copies and cumulative only came with one different that 'copies' have a different flag/attribute in Table E070.  I am sure the flag means something to SAP, but for versioning history, it makes no differences.
    Regardless of if I cumulate or not, based on your experiences, have you come across notion that everything that leaves Dev must get to PRD as SAP Best Practice? What would your reply  be if someone insists that is the only way to move code to production?

  • How to transport Factory calendar to Production

    Hello PP Gurus !,
    I have a question regarding transporting factory calendar to production system . Is there  any specific way of moving the transport request from development to production ? or it is as usual like other config transportation ?
    I was told that there is a special procedure to transport factory calendar . Please throw me some light on this .
    Regards,
    Giri

    Jiaul,
    First of all, I only need to transport this configuration from DEV Client 301 to QA.
    Referring to another SDN note, our Basis Team has changed the Client Role to Customizing, and make the system changable and client independent. Now, the "Transport" function is enabled.
    We finally able to transport the Factory Calendar. But when we click on the "Transport", it warned us that "All public holidays, public holiday and factory calendars will be transported.All public holidays, public holiday and factory calendars will first be deleted in the target system."
    Like Xioliu mentioned in the same message: "this kind of transport is a table transport, that is , if you use it, all table entries in the target system will be overwritten from the source client.
    this is not a SAP recommended transport."
    I feel that this is a high risk if we transport the whole table.
    Is that a way that we can just transport the two Factory Calendar entries we added (without manually re-create in the system.). The purpose is that we need a TR # generated, so that we can transport to Production with proper transport log.
    Thanks for advise.

  • Transporting custom Web page composer page layout

    Hello Experts-
    I made a custom page layout for making pages via web page composer and configured all the KM settings. It works fine in Dev. Just want to know. What are the steps in transporting it.
    I am sure, I have to layout template and the page. All the container iviews already exist int he system. SO, I guess I don't have to transport them. But, KM transport. What all are in need in config archive or kmc file if needed . PLease let me know.
    Your help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
    In WPC following 3 type of transport required,
    1) For PCD development
    2) KM Development ( eg xml , xsl etc)
    3) System configuration.
    For system config transport refer the [transport config thread|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7243585]

  • Folks, How do you stop tftp being tried for Config collection ?

    Hi there. We use LMS 3.2 with RME 4.3.1.[Solaris 10].
    tftp is band across our network. So we don't use tftp remotely.
    I've removed tftp from the RME config transport settings. [I just allow SSH / SCP ]
    We still get 'couldnot determine the tftpboot directory. VLAN Config fetch is not supported using SCP'.
    How can config RME to not even attempt to use tftp when pulling back switch configs ?
    We don't want the old vlan.dat database form our older switches. Config collection also tries to tftp to routers to pull back the VLAN config.
    Please have a think ? Many thanks. Guy

    So it still tries anyway?
    Well, if you use SSHand RCP/SCP you could try to disable the TFTPserver of ciscoworks.
    It is a regular windows service (on the windows version of LMS ofcourse) just stop and disable it.
    Archive will fail because it can't get vlan.dat ofcourse but that is how RME is hardcoded
    Cheers,
    Michel

  • Output CSV File Naming Convention - Receiver File Adapter

    Dear SAP experts,
    I need help regarding my scenario.
    My scenario is this, Customer will send EDI message to XI. XI will then translate the message and convert it into XML.. After, a Receiver File Adapter will receive the XML then convert it into .csv file.
    I've already configured the Receiver File Adapter to convert the XML into .csv file.
    But, my problem now is how will I configure to have my output .csv file has a File Naming Convention.
    The output .csv file must be "CustomerName_YearMonthDate".
    From the EDI message, there is indicated Sender GLN in which, each customer has its own Sender GLN.
    E.g., Globus --> 200, Karstadt --> 300,  Metro --> 400.
    How will I configure so that I can have an output .csv file of,
    If Globus sends the EDI message, the output .csv file is Globus_20080304.csv.
    If Karstadt, Karstadt_20080304.csv.
    If Metro, Metro_20080304.csv.
    Kindly advise for a clear and complete solution.
    Thank you very much for your usual support.
    Fred

    Hi Nisar,
    My target message (XML) in the mapping is this,
    - <ns0:CSV>
        -  <SLI>
               <PERIO> </PERIO>
               <ILN> </ILN?
               <EAN> </EAN>
    perio, iln, and ean was rooted on SLI field. and the CSV is the rootnode of the target message.
    I have created a UDF on the message mapping to accomodate the output customer name, here is the codes:
    String fname="";
    if(GLN.equals("23456"))
    fname ="Globus" +dat;
    else if(GLN.equals("5678"))
    fname ="Karstadt"+dat;
    else if(GLN.equals("6789"))
    fname ="Metro"+dat;
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container
        .getTransformationParameters()
        .get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create(
        "http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File",
        "FileName");
        conf.put(key,fname );
    E.g.,
    Globus --> 23456 (Sender GLN)
    Karstadt --> 5678 (Sender GLN)
    Metro --> 6789 (Sender GLN)
    This UDF i've made in the Message Mapping was mapped in the root node CSV.
    Is this UDF correct?
    Then on the File Receiver Configurations, here are the configs,
    Transport Protocol: File System (NFS)
    Message Protocol: File Content Conversion
    Adapter Engine: Integration Server
    File Access Parameters
    Target Directory: /var/opt/gsss/sample/csv
    File Name Scheme: .csv
    Processing Parameters
    File Construction Mode: Create
    - Overwrite Existing File
    Write Mode: Directly
    File Type: Text
    Variable Substitution --> ???
    Adapter Specific Message Attributes
    - Use Adapter-Specific Message Attributes
    - Fail if Adapter-Specific Message Attributes Missing
    - File Name
    Run Operating System Command After Message Processing
    Command Line: chmod 664%F
    Content Conversion Parameters
    Recordset Structure: SLI
    SLI.addHeaderLine: 3
    SLI.headerLine: PERIO;ILN;EAN
    SLI.fieldSeparator: ;

    Kindly advise if my configs are correct.

  • Output procedure determination Problem

    Hi everyone -
    I had posted this on the SD forum also but appears to be development related that config. now - the below issue started happening in our PR system as all the transports went in. First the configs went in and I verified the determination analysis and found to be good (the new output types were included in the procedure) but the details of the procedure vanished when the development transports relating to the new forms and processing programs went in a few hours after the config. transports. This leads me to believe it is development related and not config related.
    When I do the output determination analysis for the billing document, it only shows the determination procedure, e.g. V10000 (which shows up correctly as it should) but under that all the conditions are missing. There are 5-6 conditions in the 2 procedures we are using (standard SAP ones for invoices and invoice lists) and in both the cases, it just shows the procedure name, no conditions underneath it. Some new outputs were created and configured and attached to it but don't know what could have happened to cause this break. When output condition records are set up, they do work but I can't do any analysis (to see the effects of a requirement) ...it looks like some configuration issue but can't think what it is - everything looks good! Could not find anything in OSS either. Appreciate any help? We are on ECC 5.0
    Thank you.

    In VF02 header data -> outputs -> determination analysis...
    My out put is there but it is ignored ! This is what the system displays :
    RF00 502 Output ignored (requirement 062 not fulfilled).
    Requirement 62 is BillDoc:ReleasePost.
    It's defined in Maintain Output Determination Procedure step.
    Regards,
    Bahia.

  • Portal Support Activities

    Dears,
    I am Basis Consultant and planning to learn portal Administration.
    So I want to know what are daliy portal Support activities from admin prospective.
    Please suggest.
    Deepak

    It depends on portal to portal.
    I can tell you some importan activities
    1) Transport activities like pcd content transport, KM transport, System Config transport, transport of par, ear files... ..
    2) user Administration activities like creating users/groups and assigning these to roles etc...
    3) Integration with SAP Applications like R3, BW etc....
    4) checking proper permissions in pcd content and KM content if exists
    5) Portal mointoring activities like checking the logs in NWA, you can also use portal activity report iviews for monitoring.
    Go for EP100, EP200 trainining which is useful for portal system administration.
