XI Infrastructure Decision
Hi All,
Is there any XI Benchmark in regard to Infrastructure available .
I need to take decision whether current XI infrastructure in client landscape is ok or do we need to scape the infrastructure.
here is current landscape details.
SAP XI Version 3.0
Service Pack 19
Host Physical Memory 70 GB
Host RAM 3GB
Host System Window Server 2003
J2EE Server SAP J2EE Engine/6.40
at present we have very few GM (about 8 GB) memory free on the host system..
and we have only 5 interfaces running..
Question:
In six months , we are going to have atleast 20 to 25 more interfaces. and after that there is possibility of many more interfaces coming up..
Is current settig ok.. or do i need to scale up the infrastructure...
Ranjeet Singh.
Hello Ranjeet,
For XI as the minimal Configuration : 4 GB RAM is required.
Better is to go thru the document at http://help.sap.com/bp_bpmv130/Documentation/Planning/XISizingGuide.pdf
for further details please Refer to :-
SAP Note 862405 - XI Configuration Options for Lowering Memory Requirements
SAP Note 894509 - XI Performance Check
Kindly update the thread status and reward useful posts.

Prem

Hello Everybody
1. Can anyone please let me know what advantage i am going to get by using in OBIP reports and how to use it.
2. How to use the style sheet in my report.
3. I tried to access the default style sheet of Oracle available in the tool. But the file having an extension of xssz. Can you please let me know how to open this file.
Thanks
SrikantRick, thanks for the tip. I'll check out @import and see how
that works.
To give you both a little background, since I often see your
names on this forum, I'm building a brand new help project for a
brand new product. I'm trying to make smart, scalable
infrastructure decisions for the product and help project's future.
Currently, I'm the only author, but in the future there will
certainly be others.
I'm using RoboHelp 7 now, and considering the upgrade to
RoboHelp 8. I also need to make decisions about source control and
deployment, but those will be mostly made by our development and IT
departments. Our product is written in Ruby, which RoboHelp does
not provide API support for, and our development team would like to
get away from IIS to serve up the pages of our web portal, which
RoboHelp Server utilizes. So I'll probably have some more questions
for you guys in the near future :-D
Any recommendations about upgrading to RoboHelp 8? Any
suggestions for providing context sensitive help via Ruby on
Rails? -
Installing new SCCM 2012 infrastructure over an existing SCCM 2012 Infrastructure
Greetings,
I currently have a standalone SCCM 2012 environment running in production. This implementation isn't in a hierarchy and doesn't support Macs (non-PKI/HTTPS infrastructure), but is managing 1500 PC clients beautifully.
However, we have some sites out-of-state that need to be in their own Primary Site, as well as Macs across both sites need managing as well.
I have made a new environment entirely on 2012 infrastructure (2012 SCCM, 2012 Server, and 2012 SQL). This includes a CAS at the top, a PRI for my current site, and SQL for both (all on different hardware, new names, etc.). I've installed a PKI
infrastructure, and it's currently working fine managing the three servers it contains.
I need to start migrating all of the clients and services to the 'new' SCCM implementation, but pushing the SCCM client installs to over the old SCCM doesn't seem to change any settings. Nor does changing site settings in the control panel of a client.
Anyone know how to configure new site settings without re-installing the SCCM clients on the 'old' infrastructure?
Thanks~Have you ever used group policy for site assignment? This caught me out when upgrading to a new site code. If it has ever been used, it brands the registry and no amount of tinkering in the configuration manager console or client installation methods could
fix it.
To fix our site, I removed the offending GPO settings and set the 'GPRequestedSiteAssignmentCode', 'GPSiteAssignmentRetryDuration(Hours)' and 'GPSiteAssignmentRetryInterval(Min)' items under 'HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\Mobile Client' to delete via GPP.
Details and symptoms I found at http://blog.coretech.dk/heh/new-agents-will-not-re-assign-to-configmgr-2012-site/.
Jilhad,
Looks like most of the machines I was testing were indeed installed via GP before I was able to install via the console.
Deleting those registry keys allowed me to push the install over the old environment using 'Install Client' from the 'Devices' console, specifying to re-install client.
Now, I just have to figure out a script to remove those keys via SCCM
***Most of you were wondering why I was installing a CAS environment, it's really because this site doesn't conform all that well to our policies, and they will ultimately be administering their own environment. It seemed to me that it would be easier
for me to delegate control/permissions/data using a hierarchy. It was a tough decision, ***
Thank you all for your help! -
11gR2 Grid Infrastructure and 11gR2 RAC install as separate users (RH 5)
We are about to set up a few new RH 5 clusters and are trying to make a decision if we should install 11gR2 Grid Infrastructure and 11gR2 RAC as the same user (oracle) or as separate users (grid and oracle) as per Oracle documentation.
I would like to know what other people are doing and their experiences with this.
Here are some concerns that we have:
1) Does Oracle support has an 11gR2 cluster environment where grid infrastructure and oracle database are installed as separate users ? I have been to a few Oracle 11gR2 demos and they always have a simple install where everything is installed as a single user.
2) Potential permission issues that we might hit iif we use separate users, for example
- grid control agent - which user do we install it as and will it be able to access both grid and oracle files ?
- database listener will run as grid user. Is this going to cause any permission issues ?
Thanks in advance for your answersIt is all dependent on your business whether your business needs to separate between privileged user for storage administrator (ASM) or database level. It is recommended to have user separation but not mandatory.
see http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e17212/toc.htm for the details
permission issues might happen if the configuration is not correct. for example you might see ORA-12537 when configuring the system
Hope this helps -
Material on 1Z1-451 (SOA Infrastructure Implementation) BETA certification
Hi,
I am starting to study for the certification Oracle Service Oriented Architecture Infrastructure Implementation Certified Expert (exam 1Z1-451), but I can't find any books on amazon, nor any material inside oracle sites (otn / opn (my company is an Oracle partner / education).
Can someone point out material to study for this certification ?

Thanks for answering bigdelboy.
I would like to make some more questions about the "beta" nature of the exam.
Which are the "bookable" dates of the exam ?
The easiest way to see this is to try it and find out!
goto Pearson VUE and go through the process of scheduling an exam at a convenient test center. go forward month by month until the exam runs out, then exit the booking process early.
Try it for another test center to confirm the exam ends at the same date.
Oracle can choose to extend this .... up until late January the exam was bookable until february 15th only .. then it was extended.
1z0-053 had extensions for over 6 months ... others have had far shorter extensions.
Typcially Oracle have been caught out in the past by announcing a date for bea testing which has had to be extended ..... sometimes by a serious amount of time .. wich is not really good.
Oracle will make these decisions based on reviews of exams taken so far.
Also, is it known when the production version will be released ?The production version will be released approximately 3 months after the end of the beta. ie there is a gap of about 3 months while the exam cannot be taken.
The price of beta is set low to encourage people to take it .... however if you take beta be prepared to accept these conditions or wait for the production exam.
Given my recent experiences of today i would also not recommend booking on the last day of beta as if your exam cannot be delivered for whatever reason (eg JCB digger man wants to electrocute himself on your test center's electricity supply) there will be no opportunity to reschedule regardless of whose 'fault' the failure to deliver was. -
Dear friends
we have ordered PRIME-NCS-APL-K9 (PI-APL-IMAGE-2.0) and R-L-PI2X-U-K9 (Upgrade from Cisco LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.x)
I have doubt NCS is for wireless controller but how can we add LMS to this server ?
Also explain me step by step of migrate data from WCS also from LMS 4.2
Thanks and Regards,
ShahulI had this issue as well. I found it confusing as to the migration of LMS to Cisco Prime. We decided to do a clean implementation and not migrate from LMS to CPI as per the documentation. Our decision was to export the devices from the LMS DCR and import them into CPI. (With the understanding that we will loose historical data.)
I just finished a course on CPI and in the course they stated that LMS has not been migrated into the CPI bundle as of yet. The claim was that the LMS should only be upgraded to CPI (LMS) and not CPI 2.0.
Is this statement valid??

Wandering data structure and database infrastructure
1, what do I need to do for building a new data structure?
2, what do I need to do for building a database infrastructure? The questions still, unfortunately, don't make sense.
The first question is at least starting to coalesce into something answerable. I'm guessing that the first question is about data modeling but in order to make that guess, I have to assume that they're not talking about a "data structure" and that they mean to be talking about an application. If question 1 is really asking to describe a situation where your friend had to design a data model, the answer, presumably, would be to describe a situation where your friend had to design a data model. The interviewer would almost certainly have followup questions about how the data model was designed, why particular design decisions were made, etc. depending on the data model your friend started describing.
The second question still isn't close to answerable-- it is far from clear what is being asked.

De-installing 9iAS infrastructure tier
I have a server that has the 9iAS infrastructure installed. None of the 9iAS mid-tier instances require SSO or clustering. The questions I have is:
- Do these 9iAS mid-tier instances use the infrastructure if they are not using SSO or clustering?
- If they're not, is there any impact on any of the mid-tier instances if the 9iAS infrastructure is de-installed
- If they do, is there a safe way to remove the 9iAS infrastructure without impacting the mid-tier instances?
Thanks
JamesHowever, once you have associated any mid tier with infrastructure, it is not supported to remove the infrastructure except in one case. If you want to use FOrms and Reports without Infrastructure, following the instructions you can find in the white paper available on OTN, you can remove Infrastructure. This means you will not be able to use SSO capabilities with forms and reports.
So, if you are using J2EE and Web Cache and do not care about SSO or database managed clustering feature, you have to make that decision during install and do not associate with infrastructure.

Adding New Cisco ESW520 to Existing Infrastructure with a New Class A
Hello all,I was just recently brought into a organization that has a dying infrastructure to clean it up. The core is aCisco 6506 Erunning 12.2(18). I have multiple 3032 and 2960's hanging off of them all on the 10.3.x.x. Before I was hired there was a decision made to purchase new switches and move over to the 10.33.x.x. They began building servers and placing them all on the 10.33.x.x. while maintaining the 10.3.x.x environment. The servers are functioning correctly in production. I am looking to add 6 new ESW 520 switches to the environment (purchased last year and never deployed) for a new VOIP system (purchased last year as well). While the person before me was going to run a completely separate physical network and connect to the ESW 520 I dumped that idea and will be using the new ESW 520 for all closet switches (replace 2960s...
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks CommunityHello,
I think that it will not change soon in Oracle OLAP. When you create a cube you mark some dimensions as sparse and then a special structure (composite) is created, so I guess it is then hard to change this structure as well as change cube variables dimensioning (one variable for each measure). I think that also a lot of metadata is created because in 10G relational views are not explicitly created. But Oracle OLAP is really improving recently in terms of performance, scalability and ease of use so I would not complain much about this deficiency. Also while using OLAP you will get used to dropping and recreating objects, fortunately in 10G AWXML scripts come handy. If you do not recreate your cubes while refreshing them then the size can really grow significantly. So I suggest to create scripts for both dimensions and cube. Then when you add new dimension you can use scripts for other dimensions and only recreate the cube and new dimension of course.

SQL Server Infrastructure Evaluation
I am trying to come up with a check list / guidelines for evaluating Existing SQL Server Infrastructure.
Evaluate Existing Capacity , Data growth Rate , Capacity Predictions, Security Model , Availability / Disaster Recovery Options, Configuration Options, Table / Index Design Guide lines , Performance Tuning Guide lines, Hardware Selection , RAID Providers,
etc.
I want this be useful information our team can reference for making decisions.I am planning to spend about 100 hrs gathering and documenting this information.
Has anyone done similar kind of guidelines for his / her team. I would love to learn what approach to follow?
I would appreciate pointers and useful links on this topic.
I know its really big ask. I am taking this task because I work for extremely small organization with limited resources and limited knowledge. I want to provide meaningful documentation for my team which doesn't have much expertise.
Thanks,
I90RunnerWhat you are asking for is a mix of -
Guidelines/Best Practices - for infrastructure setup and capacity planning, development, maintenance
Trend Analysis - for maintenance and capacity projections
System Documentation - for maintenance and identify opportunities of scaling up/out
Guidelines and best practices will have to be looked upon from different sources e.g. MSDN, blogs, SQLCAT whitepapers, forums, technet wiki, books etc.
You will have to create and setup your own processes that gather trends like disk space, database/table sizes, CPU, frequently used and/or heavy queries etc. Some of this information can be had from DMVs or you can write own stored procs, SSIS
packages or maybe even consider using some 3rd-party vendor tools.
Same goes for system documentation. It has to be created and updated manually using the options described above for trends.
The system documentation can be gathered quickly but the others will take time and patience! Good luck :-)

What is SAP AOTO-ID Infrastructure?
hi to all,
im new to RFID , i wld like to know abt wat is SAP-AUTO-ID Infrastruture?
fine ans will be appriciated .
with regards rajesh.HI rajesh,
SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure (SAP AII) gives enterprises the capabilities they need to integrate all automated communication and sensing devices u2013 including radio frequency identification (RFID) readers and printers, Bluetooth devices, embedded systems, and bar-code devices. SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure also integrates intelligent controls such as programmable language controls and Savant technologies, ensuring comprehensive device integration. SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure senses and controls automated signals in real-time.
It connects directly with business processes requiring signal data to drive faster and better business decisions. One of the first applications of SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure is the integration of RFID technology with supply chain processes.

Error while doing the Usage Decision in transaction QA32
Hello Friends,
While doing the goods receipt for customer returns from customer, system generated a inspection lot with inspection type 06.
So in QA32 transaction, system is showing that inspection lot, but in same screen, against the column InspPlan: Material, system is not showing any entry.
Later on after analysis, i found that no inspection plan was assinged to the material, Plant for which that inspection lot was created. When i checked that inpection lot in transaction QA03, in Insp. Specifications tab, agaisnt the Assigned Specification section, system was not showing any entry in fields Group, Group Counter, Plant, Usage.
And against that inspection lot, status CRTD, PREQ, CHCR are active.
Because of which, when user is trying to do the UD against this lot system throwing the error message as Status check error.
When i checked again i found that status CRTD is throwing the error message.
Hence friend, i want to do the Usage decision for that inspection lot than how to do?
Now user has assigned the material, plant to the inspection plan in QP02.
Should i go to QA02 transaction, and in Insp. Specification tab, for fields group, group counter, usage, Plant, maintain the values?
Will this allow me to do the usage decision against the inspection lot which got generated when no inspection plan was assingned to that material, plant?
Waiting for your valuable inputs. For Result Recording and Ud the inspection lot status must be REL as u told ur status is CRTD it Mean Some master
is missing in inspection lot, generally inspection plan for that u run QA02 enter inspection lot no go to specification tab
there a button assigned specification there click on that as u click on button u will find that plan for above material copied to lot and it will show u plan detail line group and group counter no.
then go to next screen Sample if sample management is active and click on sample then system will calculate sample size then save ur lot. it would get Status As REL now ui can enter result or take UD
for QM setting Refer

AAM 6.2 All - Download Error (U44M1I216) updating Adobe CSXS Infrastructure CS6
I'm a CS6 Cloud subscriber running Win7 32-bit and have been having the general 'Download Error/Update Failed' issue with AAM since 12/15/2012. I spent a couple of hours on the Live Chat line with an Adobe support person during which I downloaded and used the Cleaner; downloaded and installed the AAM 6.2 All package but continued to have the same issue 'Download Error/Update Filed' since.
I believe that I made progress this morning after reading a post on the boards from a direct licensed user with a different AAM issue. I used the Help/Update function of one of my CS applications which brought up an instance of AAM which, unlike the 'normal' System Tray version of AAM, didn't immediately go to the 'Download Error/Update Failed' state. This instance of AAM presents both an About and Preferences buttons. I pressed the Preferences button and this next screen showed the list of my applications and had both a Cancel and OK buttons.
When I pressed the OK button, I got to another screen with the list of my applications and About, Preferences and Update buttons. In addition to the list of my applications, each application had both a checkbox and an list expose button. When I pressed the list expose button for each of my applications, I got a complete list of the updates - at the 'package/version level - that AAM 6.2 ALL was attempting to install on my machine in order to maintain all of my applications.
I used that list to go to the Updates page on Adobe to find each of the listed package/version combo's that were listed by AAM 6.2:

17-Feb-2013 5:38:10a 2,135 Adobe Prelude CS6 1.0.3 02-17-2013.log.gz
I downloaded and installed each of those update packages, one by one, and wittled down the list of packages that AAM sensed as needing to be updated down to just the 'Adobe CSXS Infrastructure CS6' package - needed by both Photoshop and Prelude.
I used the CSXS Infrastructure CS6 install log file - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers - to confirm that the installation of the specific version that I had found was successful and it was:
02/17/13 07:01:30:198 | [INFO] | | OOBE | DE | | | | 4576 | Successfully installed 1 component:
02/17/13 07:01:30:198 | [INFO] | | OOBE | DE | | | | 4576 | - Adobe CSXS Infrastructure CS6_3.0.1_AdobeCSXSInfrastructure3-mul
I assume that there must be a later update to the Adobe CSXS Infrastructure CS6 package that isn't yet posted on the general Update site for direct down load. When I try to use the application specific instance of AAM to do the update of both Photoshop and Prelude with the version of CSXS that it senses is needed, I get the U44M1I216 error code in the AAM log.
Does anyone know if there is a later version of CSXS that is being called for? If so, do you have a link to where on the update site I can download it for direct update?
Thanks,
