XI interface with third party using Java API

Hi All,
We have the following requirement:
XI needs to interface with an external third party system which has JAVA API capabilities and the corresponding JAR files available to us.
I have seen a few threads where it was mentioned that we could call the Java methods directly in User Defined functions:
Process Integration (PI) & SOA Middleware
My question: Is this approach feasible in our scenario? Also I guess we do not need to configure any adapter for this Java Method call within the UDF.
Your help will be greatly appreciated and rewarded.

Our requirement has slightly changed. We have installed a thirdparty application on XI Server (within our network , inside filrewall). The application with Java API Jar file. All it does is a Lookup and retruns a value.
We are planning to import the Jar file into imported Archives and call the method within a UDF.
Is this feasible? I am going to give it a try.

This is about Motion control in Labview: I try to control a step motor by using a PXI 7350 controller and UMI 7774 to interface with third-party driver UDK5114NW2. The problem is 5 Disable LEDS on UMI 7774 board always lit even when I check "enable" on "Motion I/O setting" in configuration of PXI 7350 motion controller. Furthermore, when I start to control step motor, it is not working and I found disable LED on UMI board still lit. I don't know how to solve this problem. Can someone help me to figure out? Interface with third party service desk..

Hi,
I am looking into different options to integrate SolMan Service Desk functionality with third party interface.
Scenario includes, sending attachments and receiving attachments through SolMan Service Desk functionality.
Please share/throw some light on the interface. I have already gone through "ServiceDesk_WebServiceAPI" document, but not much info/help in that.

SAP Inventory management interface with Third party Warehouse System

Need your input for designing the SAP solution with existing Third party warehouse system ( Exacta ):-
SAP ERP will be implemented for all locations of Client ( SAP MM, FI, PS , HR etc ).The Client has 10 distribution centres which are on Exacta Warehouse systems and will be linked with SAP Inventory management system.
The way it will work - Goods receipt will always happen in SAP for all locations and then interface needs to Trigger subsequent Putaway activities at Exacta Ware house ( third party warehouse system) for those 10 locations.
Goods Issue for these locations will happen from Exacta and then update will be posted in SAP via interface.
All locations will be created as Plant /Storage locations in SAP.
Need your inputs what special configurations need to happen in SAP for those locations so that goods receipt in SAP can trigger putaway activities in Exacta system .
Do we need to do configuration for decentralised Warehouse in SAP for handling this?
Pl. give your inputs based on your past experience where you handled such scenarios via interface with SAP Inventory management and legacy warehouse systems.

This is a std business process where clients have used their existing warehousing systems but implemented SAP forother functions such as Order entry, inventory mgmt and procurement, financials.
The typical interface that needs to happen is
1. Sales order ( and or delivery)
2. Invetory needs to be passed to the WH. Typically people send it when SAP GR takes place.
3. When WH system does picking, it sends signal to SAP which then does PGI for the sales order delivery and that takes the stock out of the system.
Material master has to be transferred or mapped between two systems. Also, other elements need to be mapped between two systems.
The way I have seen this happening is :
you have an output on the SAP GR process. That creates an idoc to the WH system. Based on the capabilities of the WH system, it then does appropriate actions in the system.
Many times, middlewares are used to translate/ map the data between SAP and the WH systems.
So system wise, there is ALE setup that needs to take place for IDOC creations.
Configuration and coding is required for the output type and the program behind it. There are several std FUnction Modules that can be used for this.

Integration with Third-Party using WLC logs

Hello everyone,
In my scenario, the WLC Controller is in a different part of my network, controlling APs that are all are running in FlexConnect mode.
Between APs and Controller I have WAN connections and a border firewall. I have locally PDC and AAA servers.
The problem is: My wired end users when go to outside zone (from LAN to internet), need do a captive portal authentication that is integrate with AAA server using Radius.
In WLAN network, I have a SSID using 802.1X that use the same VLAN as used by wired. Therefore, users that are using WLAN connections are needing to authenticate twice.
My idea to contour this situation depends the level of logs that WLC can provide me. I had looking for SNMP traps and Syslog (debug level), but neither one log user/IP/MAC. If I had this informations, I can integrate with my firewall border using XML API and bash scripts.
Anyone had this issue? Can help me with suggestion or other ways/ideias?

I understand that anyone that is using your VLAN (call it VLAN x) toward the internet will be interrupted by the firewall and is directed to a captive portal to provide the credentials.
For those who use WLAN with dot1x, they have to provide credentials twice, once when they authenticate to the WLAN and once when they try to browse internet.
Is that correct?
I think the best solution for you is to utilize a separate VLAN for your WLAN.
If you are looking for user MAC address via SNMP, that is exist AFAIK. What you may need to do is to enable that trap to be sent (not sure if its on or off by default). Go to SNMP config in GUI and then go to snmp trap controls page. There you may be able to allow traps for authenticated and associated clients.

I would like to know the extra cost factors associated if going for EDI integration with PI with third party connectors like seeburger .
1. We have NW 2004s ECC installed . Do we need to purchase PI separately? If yes how much will it cost ?
2. How licensing will happen in case of PI ?
3. How much Seeburger will cost ? Is there any sort of AMC associated with seeburger
4. Do we install Seeburger and PI on the same box ?
5. How will be the landscape with Seeburger Instance ?
6. How we will be able to move Seeburger Objects across the landscape ? DEV->QA->PRD

Yes your need to but PI separately,its independed product,its not come with ECC.

Its depends on which See Burger Adapter You are going to use,.

As per my knowledge when you develop any interface using seer burger adapter or predefined mappings,its same procedure to transport also.

FTP using java API

i saw the ftp upload an download codes in one of the previous forums...
is it possible for a directory listing of the remote system i.e., the user can select the files which he has to download from the server . is it possible to do that using java api without any third party package???

Type java ftp to google and you'll find a couple of dozen Java FTP client implementations.
One of them comes with Sun's JDK, sun.net.ftp.FtpClient. It's in the "sun" package hierarchy, which means it's unsupported, undocumented and subject to change without notice.
What I've done myself is grab Sun's FtpClient and copy it to one of my own packages; that way it won't suddenly change. (I did that when it had a couple of dodgy changes between using active/passive/extended passive modes.)

Connection with an External Payroll System
Payroll Outsourcing functionality allows you to compile master data or payroll data in the SAP system to submit to a third-party service provider in an electronic format. The Outsourcing solution available in the United States and Canada provides a generic interface which writes data into an IDoc (Intermediate Document) for transport to a third-party system. In order to transport data into and out of the SAP system, you must set up a logical system, partner definition, and outsourcing ports.
If you have built your own payroll interface, using the Interface Toolbox, for example, you can use the Import section of this scenario. The Export section applies only to the transport of IDocs.

Best practices for apps integration with third party systems ?

Hi all
I would like to know if there is any document from oracle or from your own regarding best practices for apps integration with third party systems.
For example, in particular, let's say we need customization in a given module(ex:payables) need to provide data to a third party system, consider following:
outbound interface:
1)should third party system should be given with direct access to oracle database to access a particular payments data information table/view to look for data ?
2) should oracle create a file to third party system, so that it can read and do what it need to do?
inbound:
1) should third party should directly login and insert data into tables which holds response data?
2) again, should third party create file and oralce apps will pick up for further processing?
again, there could be lot of company specific scenarios like it has to be real time or not... etc...
How does companies make sure third party systems are not directly dipping into other systems (oracle apps/others), so that it will follow certain integration best practices.
how does enterprise architectute will play a role in this? can we apply SOA standards? should use request/reply using Tibco etc?
Many oracle apps implementations customizations are more or less directly interacting with third party systems by including code to login into respective third party systems and vice versa.
Let me your know if you have done differently and that would help oracle apps community.

Need connectivity of SAP Oracle with Third Party tool with dsn

Hi Friends,
We need to access SAP's Oracle database with third party tool with the help of dsn creation. For that we need to create 2 staging tables and need a new segment for these tables. Our data will move from SAP transactions to these 2 tables and we want to fetch this data via dsn into another third party S/W.
I am unaware of such kind of working, can you please help me how to create new segment and how to create dsn for accessing tables in this segment.
Our requirement is as follow.
The staging tables are required in the SAP database with user name and password. The user should have all access to the staging table only.
Requesting your kind help on this issue. Please suggest for further processing of activity.

Hi,
Common way to integrate SAP (database) with third party Application is to use and implement SAP Connector (Java or .Net).
Using this, you can fetch the data from SAP database to use it in Third party application.
As per my understanding the method you mentioned, will void the SAP database license term.
So Please check before doing such configuraiton. Also that method is NOT recommended..

MainStage message: possible conflict with third party midi or audio drivers

Just when I thought everything was going to be ok...
MainStage gives me a message that it detects a possible conflict with third party audio or midi drivers. The only midi device I'm using is class compliant (doesn't need a driver). My audio interface is an Apogee Duet and I'm using the most recent driver. Logic registers no such complaint. MainStage freezes. Any ideas?

Hello.
I am seeing this whenever MIDI events are being sent into either Logic or MainStage (primarily MainStage), while they are launching. On my setup, this will either crash the application during launch, ( sent to Apple ) or trigger this "...3rd party conflict / driver..." dialog.
In either instance, disabling incoming MIDI messages by turning them off on all connected MIDI devices, or as suggested, waiting to connect the device in question until, the application is fully launched, fixes my version of this issue.
** Please Note: In my experience, increasing the number incoming MIDI messages, exacerbates the issue and, makes a dialog or crash more likely to occur.
