  • I dream of new features in the near future !!!

I dream of new features in the near future, including that of power sharing my screen on my TV (imagine a Keynote presentation or a spreadsheet in a presentation), and able to play my games on Iphone 4 content directly on my TV .
Wow, just imagine the power of that kind of function.

Imagine, at your work you have your Mac in your office and you need to do a presentation in the meeting room. You plug in your ATV into the projector or television to the wall and you make your presentation. Imagine the same preparation but not from your computer but from your iPhone or your IPAD.
Just imagine this possibility to me that this would be an important addition that would open the possibilities of this very beautiful object.
And my goal, it would also and especially to have this opportunity at the opening of the box without having to tweak the code.

  • Is there a roadmap for Edge Animate for new features and releases in the future?

  • New Feature Phones in the Future?

I have been looking at the feature phones that verizon has currently on their website and they haven't changed for some time. As of Feb 1 the data packages have changed and was wondering which of the feature phones currently on the list would require a $10 data charge? My son's line is up for an upgrade, but there are not any phones on the current list that are as good as the EnV Touch. What is bad is I am probably going to have to play the $10 to get him a phone that is like the EnV Touch and before Feb 1, I could have gotten him a Vortex for free and pay $15. I know we are all in the same boat and really don't have a clue what plan is next and when it will be, I am just a little frustrated.
Are there any new feature phones on the horizon that are not a flip, Ozone or Cosmo like phone? Are there any phones that might come out that are like the LG Dare or the LG Versa? Any phones like the HTC Smart for AT&T?
All the news on any of the blogs or boards are about smartphones, where is the love for us who have family plans already and can't afford a $29.99 data fee on our phones?
    Thanks
P.S. - Someone might say, "Hey how about the Kin Two m?". Well, the there are problems with that phone and it seems the Verizon Wireless salesmen/women try to steer you away from it. Is there a $10 data package on that phone? It does not say on the website when you view that phone.

Thank you everyone for your responses. All of our Feature phones listed, can select the pay-as-you go $1.99/MB plan or a MB package. If you are looking for a non-slider all touch screen phone, the Pantech Crux is an option. Even though we do have any new information about new phones being released, I would like to invite you to sign up for email updates to be among the first to be notified of new phones and services. You can click this direct link: www.verizonwireless.com/emailupdates
    I hope this is helpful.

Thank you everyone for your responses. All of our current Feature phones listed on vzw.com, can select the pay-per-use $1.99/MB plan or a MB package. If you are looking for a non-slider all touch screen phone, the Pantech Crux is an option. The Comos Touch offers a touch screen and slide out keyboard.
Once you select the phone and add to your cart, you will then be presented with data plan options to select.
Although we don't have any new information about new phones being released, I would like to invite you to sign up for email updates to be among the first to be notified of new phones and services. You can click this direct link: Email Updates
I'm sure we will be releasing new phones very soon. Thank you for your patience.

  • Follow-up to archived thread "Another Error (I think) In the 12.1 New Features Guide"

I hoped to be able to add a reply to the most recent reply on March 8 in the "Another Error (I think) In the 12.1 New Features Guide" thread (https://community.oracle.com/thread/3526588), but since that thread has been archived, I am doing what was suggested elsewhere: create a new thread referencing the old one. My reply is:
Thank you for your explanation about preferring PDF over HTML. That is perfectly fine and understandable. Also, we very much appreciate your documentation feedback in this forum, and encourage you to continue to report any issues here.
I apologize for not replying much sooner. I either didn't get or overlooked an original notification about "Recent activity" after your reply; otherwise, I would have replied then.

Thanks for that comment. I have sent a pointer to it to the writer for that book. Note that with the New Features Guide, most of the content is automatically drawn from an internal system that tracks projects and features; so if a change is needed, the writer will notify the owner of that content (typically a developer or a product manager) to investigate and (if necessary) modify the underlying data, after which the changed information will be picked up for a future revision of the book.
Also, while anyone is welcome to enter documentation comments in this forum, another option that may be more convenient for comments on specific sections is the Reader Comment area at the bottom of each HTML page (such as http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16655_01/server.121/e17906/chapter1.htm#NEWFT495 for the page containing Section 1.5.9.8). Any comments entered in a Reader Comment area go to someone in our documentation production group, who forwards them to the appropriate writers.
However, if a comment involves multiple HTML pages or books, or if you want the matter to be in a public forum for visibility and searchability, posting in this forum is a good option.

  • Another Error (I think) In the 12.1 New Features Guide

Under section 1.5.9.8 Storage Snapshot Optimization:
The first bullet point is: "Database crash is consistent at the point of the snapshot."
I think that is supposed to be: "Database is crash-consistent at the point of the snapshot."
At the very least, that seems to make more sense to me.  Googling around, there was a document on these features by EMC with that wording.

  • FAQ: New feature overview

This text guide helps you find most major new features in Photoshop CS. For a comprehensive video walkthrough, see this Ask A Pro session with Senior Product Manager Zorana Gee.
    Retouching and transforming
    Content-Aware Move tool
The Content-Aware Move tool lets you quickly recompose images without complex layering or slow, precise selections. Extend mode convincingly expands or contracts objects such as hair, trees, or buildings. Move mode lets you place objects in completely different locations (most effectively when the background remains similar).
In the toolbar, hold down the Spot Healing Brush, and select the Content-Aware Move tool.
In the options bar, choose Mode > Extend or Move. Adaptation options control how closely the new area reflects existing image patterns.
In the image, circle the object you want to extend or move, and drag it to a new location.
Tip: To best extend architectural objects, use photos shot on a parallel plane, rather than at an angle.
    Content-Aware Patch tool
The updated Patch tool includes a Content-Aware option that seamlessly replaces unwanted image elements by synthesizing nearby content. The natural-looking results are similar to Content-Aware Fill, but the Patch tool lets you select the area from which the fill is drawn.
In the toolbar, hold down the Spot Healing Brush, and select the Patch tool.
In the options bar, choose Patch > Content-Aware. Adaptation options control how closely the patch reflects existing image patterns.
In the image, circle the area you want to replace, and drag over the area you want to generate a fill from.
    Redesigned Crop tools
The redesigned Crop tool provides an interactive preview so you can better visualize results. A streamlined set of toolbar options includes a helpful Straighten tool, and aspect ratio controls you can adjust while a crop is active in the image window. (To maintain the current aspect ratio or resolution, right-click the image to access additional options.)
To crop an image, click the Crop tool in the toolbar. Then either adjust default crop borders in the image window, or drag in the window to start with specific borders.
Note: If you deselect Delete Cropped Pixels to apply a nondestructive crop, you can later click the image to see areas outside current crop borders.
To correct image perspective, hold down the Crop tool and select the Perspective Crop tool.
    Type
    Paragraph and Character styles
In the Window > Paragraph Styles panel, create, store, and reapply the characteristics of groups of highlighted sentences. In the Window > Character Styles panel, specify the look of selected letters, words, or phrases.
Double-click existing styles to edit them and update all associated text in the current document. From the panel menus, save and load styles to apply them to other documents. Or drag styles from one document to another.
Type styles are hierarchical: Manual overrides replace any applied character styles, which in turn replace applied paragraph styles. This hiearchical approach lets you combine the efficiency of styles with the flexibility to customize your designs.
Tip: To create a style without first selecting text, click the Create New Style icon [ICON] at the bottom of the Paragraph or Character Styles panel. To edit a style without applying it to text, select an image layer, such as the Background.
    Drawing
    Vector layers
The Line and Shape tools now create fully vector-based objects. Apply strokes and fills using the options bar. Stroke objects with dashed lines and other designs. Fill objects with preset or user-defined gradients, colors, and patterns.
To later revise stroke and fill settings, simply select the object layer, and then select the Path Selection or Direct Selection tool.
Tip: To reduce anti-aliased edges, ensuring that vector objects look as sharp as possible, select Align Edges in the options bar.
    Intuitive path editing
By default, dragging with the Direct Selection tool adjusts multiple related segments, letting you quickly transform path shapes. To edit only segments between selected anchor points, reflecting previous Photoshop versions, select Constrain Path Dragging in the options bar.
    Video
Choose Window > Timeline to access the redesigned, clip-based Timeline panel, including transitions and effects that give finished videos professional polish. Easily change clip duration and speed, and apply motion effects to text, still images, and Smart Objects.
Video Groups combine multiple video clips and content such as text, images, and shapes on a single Timeline track. Separate audio tracks allow for easy editing and adjusting.
The redesigned video engine also supports a wider range of import formats. When you're ready to output final video, choose File > Export > Render To Video. Photoshop provides helpful presets and options for the DPX, H.264, and QuickTime formats.
Note: In Windows, you must install QuickTime separately.
    Correcting wide-angle lenses
Choose Filter > Adaptive Wide Angle to quickly straighten lines that appear curved in panoramas or photos shot with fisheye and wide-angle lenses. The filter uses the physical characteristics of individual lenses to automatically correct images.
Fine-tune the adjustments with these options in the Adaptive Wide Angle dialog box:
In the upper left of the dialog box, choose the Constraint or Polygon Constraint tool. Then drag across key objects you want to straighten or align vertically or horizontally. (If necessary, right-click constraint lines in the image, and choose an orientation from the pop-up menu.)
In the upper right of the dialog box, choose the lens type and focal length, and adjust Scale andCrop Factor to compensate for any blank image areas the filter introduces. (To save and load customized settings for use with future images, click the menu icon.)
Tip: To see a visual representation of the transformations applied to the image, select Show Mesh at the bottom of the dialog box.
    Photographic blur gallery
Choose Filter > Field Blur, Iris Blur, or Tilt-Shift to quickly create three distinct photographic blur effects with intuitive on-image controls.
Use Iris Blur to add one or more focus points to your photo. Then move the on-image controls to alter the size and shape of the focus points, the amount of blur in the rest of the image, and the transition between sharp and blurred areas.
For a different look, build a gradient blur effect using the Field Blur option, placing multiple pins with different blur amounts. Or align blur along one or more planes with the Tilt-Shift option.
With the blur adjustments complete, style the overall effect with Bokeh brightness and color controls.
Tip: Combine multiple blur types to produce creative results.
    Camera Raw 7
Simplified Basic controls in the Develop tab improve highlight and shadow rendering. New local corrections are available for white balance, highlights, shadows, noise reduction, and moiré.
The new Basic sliders and new local adjustments options appear when you process new images or convert previously-processed images to Process Version 2012 (PV2012). To convert an image, click the exclamation-point icon in the lower-right corner of the image preview area.
    Selecting and adjusting colors
    Skin-tone selection and face-detection
Choose Select > Color Range. Then, from the top pop-up menu in the Color Range dialog box, choose Skin Tones to easily isolate those tones. To reduce the resulting selection to faces in the image, select Detect Faces.
Or, start off by selecting only faces: Choose Sampled Colors from the top pop-up menu, and then select Localized Color Clusters and Detect Faces. This approach lets you use the eyedropper samplers to refine the selection.
Note: To create a selection that preserves skin tones while you adjust the color of everything else, select Invert below the eyedropper samplers.
    Improved Auto corrections
Perfectly enhance your images in a single step with improved Auto options for theLevels, Curves, and Brightness/Contrast adjustments.
    Painting and patterns
    Oil Paint filter
Choose Filter > Oil Paint to easily create the look of a classic painting.
    Erodible and airbrush tips
Choose Window > Brush Presets to quickly access new erodible and airbrush tips, or Window > Brush to customize them.
Erodible pencils and pastels wear down naturally with use. Customize a variety of Brush Tip Shape options: Softness controls the rate of wear, Shape provides settings from flat to round, and Sharpen Tip returns to original crispness. As you paint, watch the amount of wear with the Live Brush Tip Preview to the upper left of the image.
Airbrush tips replicate spray cans with a 3D conical spray. Customize Brush Tip Shape options like Granularity,Spatter, Hardness, and Distortion controls. With a stylus, alter the spread of sprayed strokes by changing pen pressure.
Brush Pose holds stylus tilt, rotation, and pressure
Choose Window > Brush, and select Brush Pose to paint with a specified tilt, rotation, and pressure. Use a stylus to change the stroke relative to the default pose, or select Overrideoptions to maintain a static pose.
Brush Projection applies stylus tilt and rotation to tip shapes
Choose Window > Brush, and select Shape Dynamicsfrom the list at left. At the bottom of the options at right, select Brush Projection. As you paint with a stylus, changes to tilt and rotation alter the tip shape.
Color Dynamics remain consistent for each stroke by default
Color Dynamics settings automatically vary color as you paint. In previous versions of Photoshop, dynamics settings changed color for each distinct tip stamp in a stroke. In Photoshop CS6, however, dynamic changes occur once at the beginning of each stroke. This lets you vary color between strokes, rather than within each individual stroke.
To revert to the behavior of previous versions, choose Window > Brush, and select Color Dynamics from the list at left. At the top of the options at right, select Apply Per Tip.
    Scripted patterns
Select Edit > Fill, choose Pattern from the Use menu, and then select Scripted Patterns to choose from several geometric options. Build sophisticated designs by combining these scripts with Custom Pattern presets and blending modes.
    Workflow and workspace
    Fresh new look
Work with a fresh, elegant interface with design enhancements like the following:
Select from four different brightness levels: Choose Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Photoshop> Preferences (Mac OS). In the Interface section, select a Color Theme swatch.
Note: To quickly decrease interface brightness, press Shift + F1. To increase brightness, press Shift + F2.
On-image displays keep you informed as you use your favorite tools, showing dimensions for selections, angles for transformations, and more. To adjust the placement of these values, in the Interface preferences, choose an option from the Show Transformation Values menu.
A new Mini Bridge gallery offers easier access to images and documents. Choose Window >Extensions > Mini Bridge.
To maximize screen space, functions formerly in the application bar have moved elsewhere. To switch between Standard and Full Screen display modes, click the button at the bottom of the toolbar.
    Speed from Mercury Graphics Engine
Experience blazing-fast interactions with processing intensive commands likeLiquify, Warp, Puppet Warp, and Crop.
    Layer filtering
At the top of the Layers panel, new filtering options help you find key layers in complex documents quickly. Display subsets of layers based on name, kind, effect, mode, attribute, or color label.
    Preset migration and sharing
Choose Edit > Presets > Migrate to easily move presets, workspaces, preferences, and settings from Photoshop CS3 and later to Photoshop CS6. Choose Edit > Presets > Export/Import Presets

You should note the licence restrictions for the Apex 3.0 download
"Provided you have a current license to use Oracle database programs and are currently receiving technical support from our organization for such Oracle database programs, we grant you a nonexclusive, nontransferable limited license to use the programs solely for your internal business operations subject to the terms of this agreement and the license grants and restrictions set forth with your licensing of such Oracle database programs."
Mostly Apex 3.0 on XE will be an Apex licence violation unless you also have a support contract.

  • New Features for the Zen Mic

So I have been buzzing around this board for the last week or so, reading up on my new Micro. And now that I have figured everything out and gotten the player to work with WMP0 properly (knock on wood) there are a few things that I would suggest to the developers for future versions of the firmware that I have not even seen mentiond. First off, I would like to see the ability to rate my music, I know that this is probably not the most commonly sought after, or even useful feature, but I like to have all my music rated, and the ability to do it right on the player would be nice. The other thing, witch I think of as more of a bug then a new feature, is that the second a song starts to play it adds one to the play count. I think that the play count needs to be updated AFTER the song has finished playing or, if possible, it would be best sometime in the middle of the song. As it is now, if I *accidently* play a song, the play count goes up, even though I stop playback or change the song only a few seconds into it. Another thing that I would like to see improved is the creation of playlists on the device. I know you can save the "Now Playing" list as a playlist, but you can't reorganize the list. I would also like to see some of the other more asked for features, EAX would be nice for instance. I Don't know, just my two cents.

Sounds like something went south in the OS or actual mp3 decoder in the player. I might try a Clean Up in Resuce mode then maybe a Reload OS. You can get into rescue mode by turning off the player and taking out the battery. Push the power switch in the on position and keep it held over while you re-insert the battery. It should boot into Rescue mode. Try a Clean Up. It should display a status % complete and only take a few moments. Try the songs again and see if there's the same problem.
If that doesn't work download firmware v.0.03 and select Reload Firmware via USB.
If either of these things don't work and the source files are clean it might be a bigger problem that might require a replacement.

  • New features for uc320

    Dear Cisco-Team,
There are already some threads open regarding the implementation of new features. Some of them are maybe not more actual, so I open a new discussion to have hopefully answers on the following feature requests:
PPTP-Implementation: It's still not possible to get PPTP running with the UC320. (Teleworker)
Remote-Phones: It's still not possible to connect SPA phones remotely to UC320
Dial-Plan: With the new firmware 2.3.2 (6) there was one great improvement: "Return Call without Edit Dial". But it doesn't work for Austria.
"Enhanced Caller ID Directory Mapping" - also new in version 2.3.2 - but doesn't work.
soft-phone: annouced many times and since years. promised by Cisco. Still not implemented.
I hope that someone from Cisco can give me a qualified answer incl. a timeline!!!
    Greeting from Austria.
    Matthias

This is not very reassuring as to the future, and Cisco's commitment, to this platform, as these features (teleworker, softphone, wireless portable phone, etc.) have previously been touted as "on the roadmap". Being "on the roadmap" and being "re-evaluated" are different objectives.
It appears that the UC320 is just a repackaging of the SPA-9000 + the SPA-400 without the ability to use the SPA9xx phones. What a disapointment and missed opportunity for Cisco.
"The teleworker and softphone features mentioned in the posting above are  been re-evaluated by the team. There is no commitment yet on these  features."

  • New feature for Preview - Where to submit?

I have a thought for a new feature for Preview that I wonder how many people would say it is worth submitting to Apple, and if so, then where and how do I send it to them?
The problem I face is that I get a lot of PDF forms off websites (usually financially related) that are not created with proper form fields, so I am forced to print the form off and use my "chicken scribble" handwriting to fill it in, then I usually try to email it back, but sometimes I have to fax or mail it.
Well, the thought I had was, "Why can't I use Preview to select a font, click on the page with the Text tool and start typing in what I need?"
Ideally it would be good to be able to save the document with your "overtyping", but I understand that some PDF files are protected, so how about saving just the stuff I have added as to a PDF file that when I open that, it opens the original (blank) form as well?
Surely I'm not the only one that has to fill in PDF forms. Anyone else think this is a worthy addition to Previews already good capabilities?
If so, how do I pass this idea onto someone that cares?
    Cheers,
    Mark

    Welcome to the Forums!
It is a good suggestion. FYI, Acrobat Professional can do this (not the free reader, of course).
Thanks also for understanding that this is not the place for suggestions to Apple!
There's no specific feedback page for Preview, so you should submit to the general OS X feedback page.
Links to other feedback pages (for your future ideas) are here.
    Hope this helps...

  • New feature phones anytime soon?

Are there going to be any new feature phones anytime soon? I haven't seen any that I like, and am just wondering if there will be any new ones in the near future. Most of the ones sold now are absolutely worthless and the rest (theres only 1 or 2 of them) don't really line up with my tastes and I'd be better off keeping my old phone then get a new phone that will fall apart in a few months or getting one I don't want.
And please don't just give me the link to the feature phones , I'm completely capable of looking there myself and also please don't tell me to sign up for updates, as I'd rather be told by an actual person than being sent a generic email that doesn't really give me the information I'm asking for.
I'm just curious if anybody has any information about new feature phones coming out this summer. I'd like a phone with at least some of the capabilities of a smartphone, or at least a phone that looks nice and works well, but I'm unable to have a data plan since all my money is going towards a college bill and my parents are in control of my phone bill.

Appearently new phones running MP Brew are in the works but I don't suspect they will be out until late this year.  This question has been posted more than a few times and Verizon is unwilling to give an answer.  The fact that no one is previewing a phone should also be telling as to when the new phones will ship.

  • New features request

Usually in software development organizations, there exists a product manager that decides (amongst other things) which new features get added to future releases. I am posting this message in hopes that the Oracle Enterprise Manager product manager monitors this forum. Site summary: five locations, approximately 800 nodes provisioned with a mix of RHEL 4.6, 4.8 and 5.3. Enterprise controller at 2.5.0.1200, hardware all Sun x86: blade, x4100, x4600 and x2200 servers.
We are generally happy with Ops Center, but in order for it to be competitive with other products going forward the following features would help us:
    - the ability to select a large group of discovered assets and provision them all with the same OS profile, specifying IPs to use for each (list or range). this was possible in N1 System Manager, a former Sun product.
    - the ability to re-run an update job on a set of new targets (not just re-run on failed targets). we very frequently run the same set of updates, in a specific order, on groups of nodes - it would be nice to just select new targets and not have to re-add the updates to a new job in addition to selecting new targets
    - be able to specify the order in which local actions are run in updates that contain multiple action scripts. then we could just create one master update script that runs our updates in the right order
    - clean up the blobs left behind on the target after an update (/var/opt/scn/sun/update-agent/blobs); on blades with small esd drives, disk space is an issue
    - the ability to edit an asset and add connectivity that the discovery failed to find (particularly ELOM based machines, where discovery is spotty at best). not just manually declaring the asset and adding GB_x , but editing the discovered asset and adding the mgmtEth if its missing
    - with this many managed assets we cannot enable the summary charts for each node - just too much traffic to the enterprise controller. would be nice if something could be done about this
Assuming I could select 150+ assets and tell Ops Center to deploy the given OS profile on them, then run a single update with actions in the order we require across all of them, the time to re-provision an entire site would drop from well over a month to under a week.
    cheers,
    -phil

    Hi Phil,
These are all excellent requests, thanks for making your wish-list public! I don't work for Oracle, but I'm going to interleave some comments that may help:
    - the ability to select a large group of discovered assets and provision them
all with the same OS profile, specifying IPs to use for each (list or range).
this was possible in N1 System Manager, a former Sun product. This may just boil down to how you selected the assets to provision: I know for sure you can bulk deploy OS images. You see slightly different hostname/IP options depending on if you select a folder of systems, or add many systems to the provision list manually (http://forums.halcyoninc.com/showthread.php?t=314 ).
    - the ability to re-run an update job on a set of new targets (not just
re-run on failed targets). we very frequently run the same set of updates,
in a specific order, on groups of nodes - it would be nice to just select new
targets and not have to re-add the updates to a new job in addition to
selecting new targetsHave you tried creating a new Profile, and specifying all your updates in that single Profile (or do you mean something else)? The Profile can be the single place that records the updates (and their ordering), and you can execute it on-demand and target it to any hosts you want (http://wikis.sun.com/display/EM11gOC1/Updating+from+an+OS+Profile)
    - be able to specify the order in which local actions are run in updates that
contain multiple action scripts. then we could just create one master update
script that runs our updates in the right orderIf you'd prefer that your master script be responsible for deciding what other script get run, you can include those secondary scripts as "Local Config Files", and leave your master script as a "Local Action". Ops Center will put those other "config file" scripts on disk for you, in the paths you specify with the permissions you want... but won't execute them. Which means everything is in place for when your master local-action script gets run at the end of the job: it can decide which other scripts get run and which don't. (http://wikis.sun.com/display/EM11gOC1/About+Local+Content).
    - clean up the blobs left behind on the target after an update
(/var/opt/scn/sun/update-agent/blobs); on blades with small esd drives,
disk space is an issue I believe blobs are left behind intentionally, as a cache (and that's also how you can "simulate" patch jobs in advance)... but you may be able to tune that behaviour. I think the amount of disk space Agents use as a cache is configurable: ask Oracle support for help.

  • LR beta released - new features for ACR 7

I was just reading about the LR beta for version 4: http://www.dpreview.com/articles/7481161037/lightroom-4-public-beta-whats-new
Although I'm not a LR user, I was excited to see the new editing features, as they will be essentially the same as the next version of ACR that will be part of PS CS6 (all guesswork on my part of course, but as Adobe has always done this previoulsy I don't think it's much of a leap of faith to make). A few features and changes that stood out for me:
    They've re-vamped the basic tools, and have a new Process Version 2012;
    Localised adjustments now allow you to adjust white balance and noise reduction;
Curves tool allows you to work on individual RGB channels.
This looks set to be a major upgrade IMHO.

I've been testing new features for a while
I'm quite satisfied with a new automatic recovery procedure. Just that ... it will probably raise new posts about mismatching between camera profiles and in-camera jpegs, because when a photo has blown parts, recovery kicks in automatically. Also, in some (rare) cases I would just want to have it off ... so maybe having a whites slider with 'auto' check box or something similar would be a better solution ... Anyway, finally I can say that dealing with highlights is now even better than in Canon cameras / software, which have similar solution for at least 5 years ...
Since R and B channel, that can be blown by WB, are now also recovered, resulting hue of blown parts is now different than with PV2003/2010. If G and B are blown, resulting hue is around 200 deg (instead 180 previously), which looks more natural for parts of blown sky. If R and G are blown, resulting hue is around 40-50 (instead 60 previously), which is ok for blown areas around sun in sunset photos etc but ... in some rare cases there can be blown foliage colors and it doesn't look particularly good when blown green turns light brown ... So a slider to deal with hue in blown parts for brush tool would be fine somewhere in the future, because painting that areas with some color doesn't produce desired result ...
Getting rid of defaults from the past (brightness +50, contrast +25, blacks 5,. medium-contrast curve) is also nice, as it didn't make any sense with camera profiles
I'm also glad that clarity is now usable for me, so I don't have to apply wide radius USM in PS anymore ... The same with highlight & shadows tool, that is now implemented here ... etc ...

  • Are there any new features for Flex 4.6 developers?

    Hi,
just wanted to ask if there are any new features for projects that use Adobe Flex 4.6 (i.e., Flex projects, targetting Flash Player in the browser). From what I've observed so far:
    * Design view is removed (not really a "new feature")
    * Working with imports is smarter
    * Nothing else really changed
Is that correct? Anything else why I as a Flex developer should appreciate in Flash Builder 4.7? (We don't use Apache Flex 4.8 and will not in the near future so if there are any new features there, they don't really apply to us, 4.6 developers).
    Borek

I mean I am having that duplication issue.....

  • No new features for no Creative Cloud users? Tell me why?

Adobe, please tell me why I, no Cloud Crative user don't receive new Illustrator CS6 features:
    - Package files
    - Unembed images
    - Links informations
Why Creative Cloud users are better than users who bought box version? it's not fair.

    @Wade
What a bunch of babble and marketing talk for Adobe! You do realize there are other services (far better ones actually) than YouSendIt, don't you? In the YouSendIt category, try WeTransfer.com : super fast uploads and downloads up to 2gb in one RAR or ZIP file at a time.
You have heard about DropBox, SkyDrive, GoogleDrive, etc. too, haven't you? Without going into the pros and cons of any of those services, I can categorically say that each one is better... and cheaper... than an Adobe Cloud sub.
And since you're talking about the world, and complaining at the same time about your upload speeds, that remains the same for the Adobe Cloud or any Internet service for that matter. Adobe Cloud is NOT faster than any of the above services I mentioned.
Also you should know that there are many parts of the world, including HUGE chunks of the US, where broadband Internet still doesn't exist. There are some places that may never see broadband land lines, and those communities are installing LTE instead. LTE has it's advantages... but the main disadvantage is cost. No such thing as a "true Flat rate" with LTE, and you are bound to run up against "volume restrictions" and pay extra for exheeding them. No advantage then for Cloud users: they will pay on top.
I personally use DropBox and SkyDrive syncing projects and files with assorted clients every day... including huge PSD and RAW file libraries. If I have a "one off" project, I use WeTransfer with no problems. If you have a client that refuses to learn the first thing about downloading files from a link, I'm sorry for you. I mean that without sarcasm. I would like to ask though: are they actually then playing with your native files in CS? Really? And they can't even download a linked ZIP? (See my comment below about suspects).
You fail to convince me in the end, that Adobe's Cloud Drive is the best choice at the moment or in the future.
Considering this thread is/was about Perpetual vs. Cloud subs, no one has mentioned the main underlying fact and potential reason for Adobe to push people to Subs: PIRACY.
While very possibly not prevalent in North America... I would venture to say that in the rest of the world, 75% of CS installations are against the EULA, whether multiple machine installs and/or downright pirated. BTW: I have personally ran across the "multiple machine" install countless times at more shops/studios than I care to mention.
I would like to add a "twisted logic" to my personally accepting the new Adobe Subs as the way to go, and especially for new features.
IF (big if!) this is to cut down on piracy and the number of studios/shops driving media design/printing prices into the basement, because they don't actually "pay" for their right to offer their services....  I'm all for it! If this also results in the culling of people that think that, with a Walmart computer and a jacked CS disk image, they are "now in business to offer professional graphic services"... again, I applaud the Cloud initiative.
It surely appears that I'm bitter about the "competition"... well yes I am. Because, not only are the pirates NOT competing fairly, but I (personally) have to deal with problems they make for my clients  and the "trash" files they receive on a daily basis. It is also many of those clients that are perpetually licensed CS and EULA abiding Adobe customers, that are slowly laying off trained professional graphic/media designers as well as print technicians... because they are "too expensive".
And finally to add insult to injury: I also suspect we see a number of these "pirates" and "just beginning professionals" here in these forums. The number of posts I see coming from some people that shouldn't even have CS installed, is... well... disheartening.*
    * Funny, how as graphic designers, we were always wishing for faster, better, cheaper, easier. How little did we realize or fail to foresee, that when the dream came true... it would also be accessible to the "I can too" crowd. Is it nasty of me to say in return, "No. You can't. And I doubt you ever will. It's not the tools, it's the talent. You have none that I can see."
PS. Sorry... sort of worn out and emotional after staying up until 3.00am to "re-design" a thoroughly "#$%^&*!!!" Corel PDF! Fugly has a brand new definition, and "pro-" is followed by "-stitution". I need to shower 3 times after this one!
