XI: new termonologies in Integration Repository "operation" "action"

Hi Friends,
Can anyone tell me how new concepts within integration repository like "actions" "operation" are mapped to old way of "message interface" etc.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Ujwal

Hi,
"Message Operation" is old "Message Type" and "Action" is used in integration process or BPM and it is depicted by Service Interface (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi711/helpdata/en/2b/cd6a8bceed26469f3b0952a030c711/content.htm).
The difference b/w old and new PI is about webservice methods. In old PI (XI3.0 and PI7.0) one message interface can have only one message type which means one webservice with one method only, which is not real world depiction of webservices.
That's why in PI7.1 you can have multiple methods per webservice i.e. multiple operations per service interface.

Gourav
PS: For other meaning of Action see RNIF adapters.

    Hi,
We did a heterogeneous copy of PI from AIX to HPUX. After that we have done few post installation steps w.r.to PI Specific usage type.
all the developers are able to login to the integration repository, but when they are trying to "Edit" or "Create" new objects they are getting the following error
"You are not permitted to create new objects since the software component cannot be changed".
this is working with PISUPER user but not with any development user id and passwd.
        any response is higly appreciated.

    hi,
go to http://<host>:<port>/index.html -->User Management log in using j2ee_admin
When you go into one of the tabs, there will a client entry . Just change.
You should able to do the same thing with UME provider service in the visual admin.
Please check Note 938980 if you are using VPN.
This is probably a Java Web-Start issue. Please check logon with other JWS versions. Also check if you have any conflicting JWS versions installed.

  • ES Repository vs. our good old Integration repository?

As mentioned in my blog, I am posting a set of questions on ESR in this forum as an interesting way of sharing relevant information with the community. In the true spirit of forums, the one who answers the question is rewarded!
What are the differences between the ES Repository and our good old Integration Repository?

    Hi,
ok let me give it a try - I can list down some of the new features of ESR over the old IR :
    1) ESR has the ARIS for SAP Netweaver integrated where process component models can be developed
    2) We have Business Objects in ESR (which were not present in IR). These BO has CRUD operations called the core services combining which the compound services are modeled
    3) There is no more Message Interfaces but Service Interfaces only
    4) Unlike the Enterprise Services developed using the IR (NW 7.0) now Enterprise Service interfaces developed in ESR can have multiple operations.
    5) ESR has a UDDI registry provided by SAP where the Enterprise Services developed in ESR can be directly published.

Or, you can do it as mentioned below:
Integration builder is a fat client and the required java libraries are downloaded for the same from the server. Downloading of libraries only happen for the first time using the Java Web Start.
Sometimes there can occur problems while downloading theses libraries and error will show up as 'Unable to open Integration Builder'.Following is the checklist when this error occurs.
    1. Ensure that the required JDK is being used in the clent system
    2. Set the proxies to NONE in the Java Web Start by navigating

  • Authorization Error in Integration Repository

    Hi,
I have authorization issues with Integration Repository(IR) in XI 7.0 Server. While logging into IR, i use the PISUPER id which works fine. But if i use other id it throws authorization error.
I am using client 710 and have created an id with relevant roles to login to IR which failed. Then i created same id on 001 client and could logon to IR with that id. This means that while logging into IR, it points to 001 client and not 710 that i am using. Thus i need to use 2 different ids: one for IR that points 001 client and other for logging into SAP system on 710 client.
I referred the below thread which tells the same.
    Authorization Error
Can someone explain me about this.
Also can i use the same id for logging to IR and SAP system?
    Regards,
    Chintan Sheth

    Hi,
    Thanks for replying.
Yes i know that users and roles are client dependent. But my problem is different.
I hav created a new client 710 which is copy of 001 client and also performed the post steps as per SAP Note 940309.
The problem i face is while logging to Integration Repository. I have id PISUPER on both the clients 001 and 710. But for logging to IR it accepts the logon credentials of 001 client and not of client 710. I understood this when i changed the password of PISUPER on client 710.
As per my knowledge, for logging to IR it should use the user master record of client 710.
    Kindly help me on this.

    Hi,
I have taken some time off for you and have given the best possible explanation for the doubts you have.
    <b>Integration Scenarios:</b>
An integration scenario completely models the exchange of
messages for a collaborative process and provides an overview of the process flow.

    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ec/21ee117a909f44a8b69794b9ed6221/frameset.htm
    <b>Integration Processes</b>
An integration process is an executable, cross-system process for processing messages. In an integration process you define all the process steps that are to be executed and the parameters relevant for controlling the process.
You implement integration processes when you want to define, control, and monitor complex integration processes that extend across enterprise and application boundaries. The design and processing of integration processes is also known as cross-component Business Process Management (cross-component BPM, ccBPM).

    <b>
    <u>Interface object</u></b>
    <b>1. message Interfaces</b>
ou use a message interface to describe a platform-independent or programming-language-independent interface, which you want to use to exchange messages between application components using SAP Exchange Infrastructure.

    <b>
    2. message type</b>
A message type comprises a data type that describes the structure of a message. At the following points in SAP Exchange Infrastructure you can refer to the message to be exchanged at runtime by using the message type

    <b>
    3. fault message types</b>
Fault message types are designed for application-specific errors that occur on the inbound side and that are reported back to the sender or persisted in monitoring.

    <b>4. data types</b>
A data type is a basic unit for defining the structure of the data for a message type and, as a result, for the message to be exchanged.
Please go through this link for further reference:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a5/04623c4f69b712e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
    exchangefaultdata and exchangeLogData
All fault message types reference the data type ExchangeFaultData for this part and, indirectly, the data type ExchangeLogData. These data types are automatically created in a namespace when you create the first fault message type there.
    <b>
    5. Datatype Enhancements</b>
SAP applications enable customers to enhance application source code without making modifications and thus to meet customer-specific requirements that are not provided for in the standard shipment.  The applications can use Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) for this purpose. Furthermore, if customers use applications that exchange messages by using XI, they can define data type enhancements for Integration Repository data types.

    <b>6. Context Objects</b>
Context objects are a simple alternative to XPath expressions for accessing the contents of a message.
Please go through this link for further reference:

    <b>
    7. External Definitions</b>
External definitions enable you to import WSDL, XSD, and DTD documents to the Integration Repository so that you can access the message definitions they contain as external messages.

    </b>
    <b>Interface Mapping</b>
Interface mappings register your mapping program for an interface pair in the Integration Repository.

    <b>
    Mapping Templates</b>
Just like you can reuse data types in different message types, you can also save parts of message mappings as Mapping Templates and reuse them elsewhere. Once you have saved a mapping template it serves as a copy template that you can then load into other message mappings and modify to fit your requirements.

    <b><u>Adapter Objects</u></b>
    <b>Adapter Metadata</b>
With adapter metadata you can define configuration data needed for a certain type of adapter at design time. Adapter metadata define the part of a communication channel that is specific to the adapter type.

  • Integration Repository: change XSD type in data types

    Hi,
we created data types for our interface where we used the XSD type float and integer. We built on that Message types and Message interfaces and used them as abstract types in a BPM scenario.
During our test phase we encountered errors with these XSD types and found out that it is better to switch the XSD type to string to get correct values.
However the changes in XSD types are obviously only visible in the Integration Repository. XI creates on Application Server side in the XML Object Type Builder an object which doesn't notice this change. And because of that we get still errors.
So does anyone know how to get this XML Object Type changed? We don't want to delete everything and create new message types?
    Thanks in advance,
    Christina

    Hi Christina,
First go to SXI_CACHE -> Refresh the cache.
Also check for the Repository Cache Refresh/Notifciations..
You mean you have changed the xsd in the External Definition ...
If so , just go to Message Interfaces and just select the External definition once again and activate the same.
If you change the Data types then , if there is a change in field length/type then try to redo/reselect the datat types for the message types and activate once again.
For BPM just change something.. and activate once again..
Also check this blog- to activate Runtime version of the BPM

  • Storage of IDOC definitions in Integration Repository

    Hi there,
I'm trying to define development standards for the use of XI and I can't seem to find any recommendation for the storage of SAP interface definitions (IDOCs, RFCs, etc)within the Integration Directory.
We have an environment with multiple SAP systems including regional R/3 systems which have differing definitions of standard IDOCs - eg different ORDERS05 IDOCs, so do I need to store these definitions in system specfic SWCV?
My thought is to create a Product in the SLD (OUR_BASIS) with multiple SWCV relevant to specific SAP systems (OUR_BASIS_R3_EUROPE, OUR_BASIS_R3_USA etc) each of which could be brought into the Integration Repository to store the system specific objects. The names are non-SID specific to prevent naming issues moving through development, quality and live XI environments. I would then link the product to each of the SAP systems in the SLD, adding new SWCV as more systems are put into the SLD.
Does this seem like a reasonible solution? Does anyone else have or know of other recommendations?
I will be grateful for any assistance and will dish out reward points as appropriate.
    Many thanks,
    - Ian

    Hi Ian,
I tried to understand the reason of why would you want to create custom software components in your SLD for multiple SAP systems and import IDocs arising out of these systems into different software component versions? I guess this would defeat the basic purpose of developing objects under software components and the idea of developing integration objects (mapping, data type etc) under software components and not based on phycial system or geographical location.
Let's take an example. If you consider software component X release 1.1 installed on SAP system A. Consider this is a standard software component version delivered by the vendor. And you don't have any authorization to change the objects under this software component. In such scenario, whether you have this software component installed on SAP System A or B or C you just need to import it once under that software component version. Say IDoc ORDERS05. Irrespective of which system you download it from, it's definition is going to remain the same.
Also, system dependencies and actual source and target definitions should not be part of your software component versions. They should be in Integration Directory and should be kept independent of the software components.
Any custom development will be obviously grouped under custom software components.

  • How to create abapProxy in nw 7.01 not 7.1 from integration repository

i use nw 7.01 , it's sproxy inteface is different old and new ones like 7.1 so i couldnt create abap proxy in sproxy.I created an message interface in integration repository but i couldnt find any object releated to this in sproxy..
I found some documentation about 7.1 , it mentions that you must create a service interface in IR but in my version it doesnt exist.
so how to create or copy existing proxy class?
    Thanks alot

I guess it should be similar to PI 7.0 environment wherein you have to create message interface in IR. Then use SPROXY transaction at R3 (not XI). From there you may select the interface and create proxy. For this make sure that abap proxy is activated at your R3 system.

  • Renaming Integration Repository objects?

    Hello everybody,
is there any way to rename already created integration repository objects (e.g. integration scenarios)? There are some distinct naming conventions for some of the SAP certification programs and some of the content already developed does not adhere to those conventions.
    Thanks for your answers!
    Regards
    Jörg Strebel

The renaming is not given as an option, mainly because of the dependcies that are involved. If renamed, the object dependencies are very difficult to manage.
    1) Copy the objects to new names.
    2) Change the dependencies from bottom up, to point to the new names. Data Types first, then Message Types, then Interfaces, then Mappings etc.
    3) Delete the objects with old names.
    4) Activate the changes.
    Hope this helps,
    Bhanu

Right click on "My Computer", select properties tab.
-> advance-   click on Environment Variables at bottom.
under user defined variables or system variables,  do you find PATH on left hand side..?
If yes,  do you find C:\j2sdk1.4.2_14\bin  maintained against PATH?
If not select new under user defined, and add PATH and C:\j2sdk1.4.2_14\bin.
check the jdk version. you might have a diff version.
