  • Difference between MRP & SRP

    Hello everyone,
Can anyone help me out by providing me the difference between Material Requirement Planning (MRP) & Stock Requirement Planning (SRP)
    Regards,
    Indranil

    http://help.sap.com/printdocu/core/Print46c/en/data/pdf/MMCBPCBP/MMCBPCBP.pdf
    Materials Requirements Planning (MRP)
MRP is a planning tool geared specifically to assembly operations. The aim is to allow each manufacturing unit to tell its supplier what parts it requires and when it requires them. The supplier may be the upstream process within the plant or an outside supplier. Together with MRP II it is probably the most widely used planning and scheduling tool in the world. MRP was created to tackle the problem of 'dependent demand'; determining how many of a particular component is required knowing the number of finished products. Advances in computer hardware made the calculation possible.
    Master Production Schedule
The process starts at the top level with a Master Production Schedule (MPS). This is an amalgam of known demand, forecasts and product to be made for finished stock. The phasing of the demand may reflect the availability of the plant to respond. The remainder of the schedule is derived from the MPS. Two key considerations in setting up the MPS are the size of `time buckets' and the `planning horizons'. A `time bucket' is the unit of time on which the schedule is constructed and is typically daily or weekly. The `planning horizon' is how far to plan forward, and is determined by how far ahead demand is known and by the lead times through the operation. There are three distinct steps in preparing an MRP schedule:
    exploding
    netting
    offsetting.
    Exploding
Explosion uses the Bill of Materials (BOM). This lists how many, of what components, are needed for each item (part, sub assembly, final assembly, finished product) of manufacture. Thus a car requires five wheels including the spare. BOM's are characterised by the number of levels involved, following the structure of assemblies and sub assemblies. The first level is represented by the MPS and is 'exploded' down to final assembly. Thus a given number of finished products is exploded to see how many items are required at the final assembly stage.
    Netting
The next step is 'netting', in which any stock on hand is subtracted from the gross requirement determined through explosion, giving the quantity of each item needed to manufacture the required finished products.
    Offsetting
The final step is 'offsetting'. This determines when manufacturing should start so that the finished items are available when required. To do so a 'lead time' has to be assumed for the operation. This is the anticipated time for manufacturing.
The whole process is repeated for the next level in the BOM and so on until the bottom is reached. These will give the requirements and timings to outside suppliers.
There are three major assumptions made when constructing an MRP schedule:
The first, and possibly the most important, is that there is sufficient capacity available. For this reason MRP is sometimes called infinite capacity scheduling.
The second is that the lead times are known, or can be estimated, in advance.
The third is that the date the order is required can be used as the starting date from which to develop the schedule.
    Hope this helps you.
Do award points if you found them useful.

    Rakesh

I am in the process of expanding a database of chemistry journal articles.  These materials are ideally acquired in two formats when both are available-- PDF and HTML.  To oversimplify, PDFs are for the user to read, and derivatives of the HTML versions are for the computer to read.  Both formats are, of course, readily recognized and indexed by Spotlight.  Journal articles have two essential components with regards to a database:  the topical content of the article itself, and the cited references to other scientific literature.  While a PDF merely lists these references, the HTML version has, in addition, links to the cited items.  Each link URL contains the digital object identifier (doi) for the item it points to. A doi is a unique string that points to one and only one object, and can be quite useful if rendered in a manner that enables indexing by Spotlight.  Embedded URL's are, of course, ignored by Spotlight.  As a result, HTML-formatted articles must be processed so that URL's are openly displayed as readable text before Spotlight will recognize them.  Conversion to DOC format using MS Word, followed by conversion to RTF using Text Edit accomplishes this, but is quite labor intensive.
In the last few months, I have added about 3,500 articles to this collection, which means that any procedure for rendering URL's must be automated and able to process large batches of documents with minimal user oversight.  This procedure needs to generate a separate file for each HTML document processed. Trials using Automator's "Get Specified Finder Items" and "Get Selected Finder Items", as well as "Ask For Finder Items"  (along with "Get URLs From Web Pages") give unsatisfactory results.  When provided with multiple input documents, these three commands generate output in which the URLs from multiple input items are merged into a single block, which yields a single file using "Create New Word Document" as the subsequent step.  A one-to-one, input file to output file result can be obtained by processing one file at a time, but this requires manual selection of each item and one-at-a-time processing. What I need is a command that accepts multiple input documents, but processes them one at a time, generating a separate output for each file processed.  Is there a way for Automator to do this?

    Hi,
With the project all done, i'm preparing for the presentation. Managed to get my hands on a HD beamer for the night (Epason TW2000) and planning to do the presentation in HD.
That of course managed to bring up some problems. I posted a thread which i'll repost here . Sorry for the repost, i normally do not intend to do this, but since this thread is actually about the same thing, i'd like to ask the same question to you. The end version is in AfterEffects, but that actually doesn't alter the question. It's about export:
"I want to export my AE project of approx 30 min containing several HD files to a Blu Ray disc. The end goal is to project the video in HD quality using the Epson  EMP-TW2000 projector. This projector is HD compatible.
To project the video I need to connect the beamer to a computer capable of playing a heavy HD file (1), OR burn the project to a BRD (2) and play it using a BRplayer.
I prefer option 2, so my question is: which would be the preferred export preset?
    Project specs:
                        - 1920x1080 sq pix  (16:9)
                        - 25 fps
                        - my imported video files (Prem.Pro sequences) are also 25 fps and are Progressive (!)
To export to a BRD compatible format, do i not encounter a big problem: my projectfiles are 25 fps and progressive, and I believe that the only Bluray preset dispaying 1920x1080 with 25 fps requests an INTERLACED video  (I viewed the presets found on this forum, this thread)... There is also a Progr. format, BUT then you need 30 fps (29,...).
So, is there one dimension that can be changed without changing the content of the video, and if yes which one (either the interlacing or the fps).
I'm not very familiar with the whole Blu-ray thing, I hope that someone can help me out."
    Please give it a look.
    Thanks,
    Jef

Once you go through these links and are a bit aware what all XI objects do, you can try a simple "File to File Scenario" which would help you to understand XI objects in a much better manner.
For help on this scenario go through this blog it is in two parts thus I am providing both links below:

  • Convert scanned materials in PDF [was 1986Lorri]

I have purchased a subscription that allows me to convert scanned materials in PDF form to word documents.  I converted a file.  Then I do not know where it went or what to do to save it as a word document.

    Hi 1986Lorri,
It sounds like you used ExportPDF to convert a PDF to a Word document. You can find your converted file (the Word document) by signing in to your account at cloud.acrobat.com. Click the Files tab, select the file that you want to download, and then click the Download File icon (to the left of the trash can).
Let us know how it goes!
    Best,
    Sara

  • I used Preview to fill in a .pdf form. I saved it, re-opened and saw my annotations. When I attached it to an email, the annotation and filled-in materials were no there. What's happening?

Having been gently chided by "How to write a good question," I offer additional information as a preamble to my question.
I am writing about Preview 7.0 (826.4) on Mavericks 10.9.4; my computer is a MacBook Pro, late 2011 model with not modifications.
I used Preview to fill in a .pdf form and saved it. To check, I re-opened the form and saw all the info I had filled in. However, when I attached it to an email, the info was not there; the form contained none of the info I had added. I re-did the form several times, but the results were the same when I attached it to email. What's going on?
Here's a secondary matter. When I filled in the form, the print was red and the type too large. Though I went into fonts, etc. and selected a type size and color black, the info I added was still red and the wrong size. Again, how do I manage color, size, and font?

Form document will automatically be saved after closing the file. As far as cloud message is concerned, it seems your Mobile link setting has been turned on. When you pressed device back button after filling the form, it was saved to your Acrobat.com account. You can access this document by going to Acrobat.com tab present in left pane. Its a cloud storage area where you can upload/save any document.
    Thanks,
    Adobe Reader Team

  • When sending email PO in a PDF attachment, the attachment can not be openen

    Hi all,
We are trying to send an email with the PO in PDF format.  We got the email but the attachment can not be opened.
Error reads: Adobe could not open test.pdf because  it is either  not a supported file type  or because  the file has been damaged (for example , it was send as a email attachemnet and was not  correctly decoded).
Could any body bring some light?   We know that everything in SCOT is fine because we can email the PO through configuration to the vendor without problem. It is just these extra copies that do not work.
    a) We are modifying our custom Print program to add the code below after closing the form.

    Dear Monica,
You need to configure the system with respect to functional point of view and need to write the following code in print program. i have done this and solution is as follows.
<b>  Reward me for this solution.</b>
Process 11 (MM)     Sending RFQs and POs to vendors directly from the system instead of sending thru Courier or Fax
Existing Process (AS-IS)     Presently system is not supporting this requirement
Business Requirements     RFQ’s to be linked with vendor master with e-mail to send enquiries directly through system instead of courier/fax. Vice versa P.O’s.  Specifications, drawings should also go to vendor along with mail.
    To-Be
    Configuration Settings:
    1) Spro – Materials management – Purchasing – Messages – Output control – Message types – Define message types for RFQ/ PO
    •     Created ZEK1,ZMI and ZEK2 for RFQs
    •     Created ZIK,ZOC,ZOK,ZOM,ZSI, ZSK2 and ZSM for Pos
    •     The above New output types Included with existing Print Forms and Programs but modified with External send(5) medium, and added company’s letter head thru ABAP developments (details provided below)
    •     The above new output types also maintained for Fine- tuned control (thru same navigation) for New(1) and Change(2) operations
          2) Spro – Materials management – Purchasing – Messages – Output control – Message   determination schemas – Define message schema for RFQ/ PO
    •     Maintained the new output types in the control data
    3)     Maintain Condition records for the New out put types (copied same document types from the existing old output types)
    Easy access – Logistics – Materials management – Purchasing – Master data – Messages – MN01 (for RFQs)/ MN04 (for Pos)
    4)     Maintain Email id of Vendor in Vendor master.
    Developments (ABAP):
    1)  Copied the existing print programs and forms of the corresponding out types.
    2) Addition of header window in each corresponding form (HEADER window). Uploaded the HEADER3 graphics in the header window.
INCLUDE HEADER3 OBJECT GRAPHICS ID BCOL LANGUAGE EN
    3) Added the the following code in TOP includes

    Anyone with Ideas?

We own the rights to our product and license companies around the world to manufacture, promote and sell our products through this license.  We create the marketing tools for these companies to use to promote and sell this product.  Unfortunately, everyone downloads our materials and places them on their websites and then never looks at it again, so our materials on their sites are never the most current version.  It would be so much easier to control the materials if people we not taking from our site but just linking to the document.  They would open the same whether on their site or mine, but you get tired of explaining that.  All they hear is their web designers telling them that if you do that your sending your customers away from your site - blah blah blah  Unfortunately, even tho I inform them they have to do it this way, I can not make changes to their site and was looking for a work around.
