XI Pre-Installation phase

Hi Experts,
We are in the phase of installatng XI 3.0. For that we have ABAP+JAVA. Now the main problem is to configure the SLD.
But the sub problem is that in UME(http://<host>:<port> we are not able to create user and assign group SAP_SLD_ADMINISTRATOR. It says the same group is in read only mode and cannot be modified. I have looged on to UME using J2ee_Admin user id.
I know i can only logon to htp://<SAPHOST>:<port>/xld only when, I am able to perform the above step.
Please advise how and through which user id I should be able login in to htp://<SAPHOST>:<port>/xld .
Thanks in advance.
kailash

Thanks for your reply,
now we could able to get into sld at http://<sap host>:<port>/sld/index.jsp, and we could able to establish following rfc connection at sm59 adapters,AI_DIRECTORY_SID,AI_RUNTIME_SID,AI_LCRSAPRFC_SID,AI_SAPSLDAPI_SID
But the RFC for J2ee engine is set as Program id : sapfallback. and we are not able to set the connection for the same in visual admin..
Please advise ur expert suggestion..

XPRAs are application reports that run at the end of an upgrade.
Most XPRA reports have a report documentation that explains what
the report does and how errors can be corrected.
Call transaction se38 in the SAP system, enter the report name,
select 'Documentation' and click the 'Display' button.
>>> The problematic XPRAs are mentioned in messages of type PU132 above <<<

Hello Karthik
I know the list is long. Unfortunately I have never had such a long list of inactive objects in the system during an update or upgrade. But I believe you can make use of the mass activation program RADMASG0 to have them activated. The other option I can think of is to use the function module RS_INACTIVE_OBJECTS_LIST to list all the inactive objects and see whether they can be mass activated from there. I believe it is possible to activate all from there after selecting a block. (Never tried so I cannot guarantee).

Oracle EBS R12 Pre - Implementations phase question air

Dear all Gurus,
We are going to implement Oracle EBS r12, for industrial concern, we have following quires if any peer may suggest.
1) we heard the oracle R12 has build new release with 11g db , is it been practical for choosing it for corporate ???
2) Linux Read hat which version is more stable like 5 releases is compatible with R12 new release?
3) We are also thinking for 64 bit architecture rather than 32 bit, could any one figure out the practical pros and cons for this.
4) We are also wondering about the server machine brand and its configurations like HP DL380 G6, DELL 2850? could any one share abut his experience about the same.
5) What sort of Server configurations (Processor , 2way -4way , RAM , HD and other accessories ) for r12 Multi node setup for 150 clients (DB Server , Apps Server , Test Prod )
6) What should be backup strategies like tap backup and how much space requirements we must have provisioned for retaining almost 2~3 month backup.
7) Application implementations methodologies?
8)
I know to address our queries would be time consuming for you bust peoples , but I would really oblige for being shared your journey this would defiantly the PATH way for other like mentoring for others.
looking forward your valuable instructions ASAP.

• Pre-Execution phase is beginning running for more than an hour

Hi guys,
I am trying to pull data from MSSQL Server 2000 (has over 400 Million rows of data) into MSSQL 2012 using SSIS (using the SQL Command Access Mode).
For over an hour I started running the package, it was just showing Pre-Exectuing Phase is Beginning...
Please want can I do to stop this.
N/B: I tried using the Table or View Access Mode and it started running.
Thanks
me

I have found what the issue is.
I added with (NOLOCK) in my query and it has moved to Execution Phase not.

• FL2.x pre-installation

Hi
I have developed a FL2.x application and tested it on lots of
Nokia
phones. I am happy with the number of Nokias that have FL2.x
pre-installed.
My question is about pre-installation of FL2.x on some
Sony-Ericssons
that I have been researching.
According to a recent Sony Ericsson developer guidelines for
Flash
Lite 2.0 released 24 Jan 2008: (see
http://developer.sonyericsson.com/getDocument.do?docId=91537)
the
phones "K630, V640, K660, K850, W760, W890, W910,
Z750" have FL2.0
player pre-installed and can run it in 'stand-alone' mode (a
mode
required to run my application - ie: outside a browser).
However, according to Adobe Device Central CS3 (I have all
the latest
updates) the Sony Ericsson W910i has FL2.0 pre-installed but
will not
run standalone apps (I guess that means only browser apps).
The
message in Device Central is:
"The selected content type Standalone Player is not
supported by the
Flash Lite player on this device."
I went to a mobile phone store that sells the W910i and asked
about
FL2.0 pre-installation. He didn't know the answer.
Has anybody used a Sony Ericsson mobile that had FL2.x
pre-installed
(I am pretty sure the Z750 does, but not sure if the others
support
standalone mode or not). The info I have seems to be
conflicting.
Thanks, Ian

• Pre-installation cluvfy check fails on local nodes

I am setting up a RAC cluster in Oracle 11.2.0.3 on two Windows 2008R2 nodes.
I have completed all the pre-installation tasks (I hope) and would like to verify this by running:
cluvfy comp sys -p database -n all
using the standalone download of cluvfy - I haven't installed any Oracle software as yet.
This completes successfully on the remote node but fails on the local node (whichever one I run it from).
There is a lot of output but these seem to be the key problems:

However, there is a folder in the temporary destination call oraremservice and there are DLL files and the RemoteExecService.exe in there.
In the temp directory there are a number of log files called e.g. sprvmcli_9885533.log (the number is generated uniquely each time),
When running against the local node, these contain the following:
10/01/13 14:44:42 Trying to open a named pipe
10/01/13 14:44:42 About to open pipe
10/01/13 14:44:42 calling create file
10/01/13 14:44:42 Error opening the pipe 5
10/01/13 14:44:42 sprvcli: retval = 7
When the cluvfy runs successfully against the remote node, this has much more information in, and the errors do not occur.
Am I using the cluvfy utility incorrectly for this stage of the operation, or is there something wrong with my setup?

first Confirm the connectivity between all of the nodes:
Cluvfy comp nodecon –n all –verbose

• "Database Upgrade" hangs at 0% during "Completing the Installation" phase

I 'm now installing the EGRCM8.6.3.4000 environment.
"Database Upgrade" hangs at 0% during "Completing the Installation" phase.
I checked the grc.log, and found the following WARN and DEBUG messages.
2012-07-20 02:40:05,544 WARN [Thread-35] DBConfigManager:1425 Database is not initialized yet.
2012-07-20 03:31:10,412 DEBUG [el.Default (self-tuning)'] GrcConfig:2530 Could not get value for key 'grc.sso.enabled' due to data base is not ready.
The connection to DB is OK, and the status of DB instance is open now.
I can't figure out why the console said "Database is not initialized yet".
Does anyone have a clue about it?
Thanks in advance.
Kai

Hi yasir,
Thanks for your response.
I haven't finished the installation yet.
"Completing the Installation" I mentioned in previous thread referred to the final installation phase.
After I entered GRC URL (http://hostname:port/grc), the "Database Upgrade" screen hanged at 0% and cannot proceed.
From the grc.log, I can read that the connection seemed OK, and the database also worked well through SQLPLUS.
I am wondering why it happens.
Thanks & Regards,
Kai

Did you install the Oracle 9.2.0.8 client? Or did you link the binaries from the ORACLE_HOME? Or are you using the Oracle client from the installation DVD?

• Create Index error on all jobs of import abap installation phase

Hello,
I'm facing an issue on import abap phase on IDES SAP ERP 2004 installation over SLES 11/MaxDB 7.6.03 build 9.
Logs below are focused on table REPOSRC because it is the first error over installation, the same error appear again and again for the next tables.
We ran the installation again changing the number of parallel processes to 1 job at time but finally nothing change.

hello friends,
i have a similar error in context of an unicode conversion in phase import with r3load. in logs in file D010TAB.log i see the following output:
DbSl Trace: EXECUTE on connection 0, rc=-7055 (POS(55) Column(s) already indexed:/BI0/E0D_DECU~P)

/usr/sap/SPV/SYS/exe/run/R3load: END OF LOG: 20100414185908
45 / 47 are complete in phase import.
For a TEST Case , i have deleted all indices on tables in selection of /BI0/*. I will rerun this procedure. the largest part of indices on tables come from a bw-installation in a seperate client.

• Urgent:Regarding the Pre-Installation Tasks

Hi,
I have a scenario:
Currently, i have installed Oracle AS Infrastructure(D'base 10.1.0.5.0) as a pre-requisite for installing oracle Content DB.
My Question is : Is that mandatory that i have to again install oracle 10g database as pre-requisite before installing oracle content DB.
Please help me.
Regards,
- Sri

As long as you can perform all the pre-install steps using SQL*Plus (as the SYS user), and you can bring up and shut down the database, I think you will be fine. iFS manages it's own schema (default name: IFSSYS) and doesn't require SYSDBA or SYS access. The only time the SYS user is required is during installation and configuration. If your configuration is successful, you should be fine, as far as iFS is concerned.

• What is the Application Server with less errors in the installation phase?

Hi all!
According to your experience, what is the trial version that has less problems to install? Is it for Windows or Linux?
thanks!

Hi
Unfortunately i haven't tried installing any trial version yet and iam not sure about installation errors
they are not campatible with home PCs
Yes i would agree to this i have seen lot of post in SDN there is some problem with vista home edition on Trial versions
I would always recommand to use JDK1.4.2_16 which is more compatable, with 1.4.2_18 and 1.4.2_19 we are currently having massive stack overflow
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/SAPsite/download.html
Note 716604 - Access to Sun J2SE and recommended J2SE options
when it get in the Import ABAP phase, it took more than 8 hours waiting for it to be concluded and it didn't! It cannot be normal!
It again depends upon the RAM and the virtual Memory you have and provided

• Guidelines on optimization of runtime of EHP4 installation phases

Hi
Our system is SAP ECC 6.0 SP10 without any EHP on HP-UX and Oracle.
Currently we are running EHP4 installation on our sandbox on top of EHP3. We are in preprocessing phase. I observe that a phase MAIN_SHDRUN/ACT_UPG is going on more then 5 hours upto the composing of this message. I can observe activity into the system (SM50).
I was trying to get some information and documentation on optimization of runtime of phases of the EHP4 installation. I tried Installation Guide, and notes attached to the document like SAP Note 1292069 - Add. Info. on upgrading to SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 SR1 ABAP, but this seems to be not big help for me(or might be I oversee something provided by SAP)
Here my question is, can we have some anchor document or note for optimization of system settings and parameters which will help us to optimize the runtime of different phases of installation. If not for all then at least please suggest for this phase and other for which it is available.
Approx DB Size: 2.8 TB
Best regards

MAIN_SHDRUN/ACT_UPG -- This phase is very long phase, It always takes very long time. Since your database size is 2.8 TB so it will take long time. Only thing you need to take care is no error will be there.

Also as far as optimization of upgrade is concerned it depends on a number of things:
1) How many R3trans processes you have choosen for upgrade ? If more is the number of processes then upgrade will de faster. R3trans processes you can decide on basis of your hardware.
2) You can also optimize memory parameters like in shdow instance Go to SE38 and run rsmemory report -> there you can increase memory parameters to optimize upgrade.
3) You can also change database parameters like db_cache_size etc. to increase performemnce.
4) you can also check SAP Note 1275873 - Memory bottleneck during DDIC activation during EHP import
5) To optimize performence, SAP always recommends to select Manual Selection of parameters in configuration phase in which you can set parameters according to your hardware.
6) You can also find information to improve performence of upgrade in Troubleshooting and Administration Guide. This guide you can find in <upgrade directory>/EHPI/abap/htdoc
Hope it helps
Thanks
