  • NWA or User Management doesn't start

    Hello, All !!
    I have recently installed a NW 7.0 system. Details listed below:
    System: SAP SRM 5.0 SR3
    Stacks: ABAP+JAVA - single install
    Platform: HP-UX (64-bit)
    Database: Oracle
    Issue / Problem that's on hand
    I am not able to bring up User Management or NWA from the URL:
    <http>://<AS_Java_hostname>:<AS_Java_HTTP_port>/nwa
    <http>://<AS_Java_hostname>:<AS_Java_HTTP_port>/useradmin
    User ID: J2EE_ADMIN
    Password: Installation Master Password
    Once I enter these details and click on login button, I get back the same blank login screen. If I enter incorrect password, then I get an error: "User Authentication failed".
    When I log on to AS ABAP, I see the following users defined:
    J2EE_ADMIN
    J2EE_GUEST
    SAPJSF.
    In the config tool, the guest user is specified as J2EE_GUEST (property ume.login.guest_user.uniqueids).
    =======================================================================
    Here are related excerpts from the installation guide
    As of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 and Business Suite 2005, you can install an ABAP+Java system in one installation run. This means that AS Java is configured by default against ABAP client 001.
    You can choose one of the following methods to set up your new production client:
    n You install the ABAP and the Java part of your system separately.
    n You install an ABAP+Java system and reconnect the Java part.
    n You install an ABAP+Java system and do not reconnect the Java part.
    Bonjour!! (Most frequently used word from my French vocabulary (FV)!! BTW - my FV has very few words.)
    Hope everyone's doing fine. I have been bothering a few on the team with my questions and have been receiving prompt reply. And here's yet another question I need some advise on.
    Excerpts from the installation guide:
    As of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 and Business Suite 2005, you can install an ABAP+Java system in one installation run. This means that AS Java is configured by default against ABAP client 001.
    You can choose one of the following methods to set up your new production client:

    n You install an ABAP+Java system and do not reconnect the Java part.
    Installing an ABAP+Java System and Reconnecting the Java Part
    If you need the Java users in your ABAP production client, you have to manually configure the connection of the Java part to the ABAP part.For more information about Java users, see the table User Management Engine (UME) in Basic SAP System Parameters [page 28].
    1. You install the ABAP+Java system as described in this documentation.
    2. You perform the client copy [page 144].
    3. You reconnect the Java part to the production client as described in SAP Note 937323.
    =======================================================================
    Eventually, I want to change the client in AS JAVA to point to production client and not client 001. But right now, I am not even able to bring up NWA or User Management. But I can bring up "System Information" - logging in as J2EE_ADMIN user.
    Please let me what needs to be done to correct this problem.
    Thanks in advance!!
    Madhavi

    Hi,
    Login into your 001 client and check whether your j2ee_admin or j2ee_guest are locked? If yes then unlock them and try again.
    Also if you want to change the password then make sure you update the pasword in the secure storage area of web as java through configtool.

    Vamshi.

  • User management in SAP web AS Java

    My company currently has a user management concept in place for BASIS. These concepts follow the segregation of duties principle. So for example a system administrator can grant rights to end-users but he can't change content himself. This concept was put in place to comply with SOX.
    Now my company would like the same principles to be implemented in SAP web AS Java. I have searched the forums, blogs and notes, but i can't seem to find some best practices regarding the matter.
    As I have difficulties finding these I am wondering if it is perhaps not needed from a SOX point of view, as the web AS Java doesn't directly access content, does this make sense?
    Regardless of the SOX point of view I still believe the problem exists because anyone can mess up your portal environment if the user management is not handled correctly. So does sap have some best practices regarding user management in the web AS Java?
    Any feedback on these 2 questions would be great!

    Hi,
    when I hear these types of requirements I always think of IdM. Any IdM (not only from SAP) allows you to easily satisfy all SOX requirements. I understand that implementing IdM solution is not an easy task but you might get additional benefits from it like reduction of service desk calls and so on, not only compliance.
    Cheers

  • PHP user management system

    I have been using an ASP based user management system with an
    Access
    database and it has worked very well, however, I need to
    implement a similar
    system on a Linux server. I know you can password protect
    sections of the
    site using htaccess but I want something similar to what I
    get with the ASP
    system, ie user reg page and redirection pages for those who
    enter wrong
    details, duplicate usernames, password recovery, etc. Nothing
    fancy, just
    the basic functions to allow people to access restricted
    areas of the site.
    No payment will be involved, my client just wants to limit
    access to certain
    parts of the site to registered users.
    Can anyone recommend something simple and easy to setup and
    use? Either a DW
    extension or standalone, bearing in mind I don't know PHP but
    I can edit
    code with a little guidance...
    Many thanks in advance

  • Solaris 11.2 User Manager System Error

    Has anyone encountered a system error when attempting to add users as the root role or executing the user manager from the cli as root?
    I can use the gui manager after a user has been created in the staff group.  I run into issue creating the user as root in any group but staff and any default shell outside of /usr/bin/bash.
    Example - Using gui to create user in ftp group with /bin/bash as login shell with auto set for userid and home directory.
    Thanks in advance.

    No system error for me but I've filed Bug 20873166 - "User Manager" always creates user under "staff" group

  • Database Studio 7.9.08.09 -  Could not access to user management; Deleting old settings and reinstallation did not bring a change -- database studio deinstallation cannot be performed anymore

    Hi Community,
    for a few months I have been struggling with a  SAP Max DB database Studio issue and finally, I had to give up the idea of being able to fix this on my own. I am desperately seeking for help and I hope that you may be able to give me a hint, advice or even a solution.
    This is what happened:
    I used to run Windows 7 on 32bit. I also had Database Studio installed - which was running fine then.
    After a harware upgrade, I am running now Windows 7 on a 64 bit System. All my files from my local disk (C:\) have been restored and copied onto my new system.
    I reinstalled Database Studio Version 7.9.08.09 onto my new System.  But on the first try to start the program I received the error that said "Could not Access to user Management.See Window -> Show View-> Event Log Viewer for more Details."
    However the Event Log Viewer was empty.
    After searching the web for a solution, I followed the advice given in this community and deinstalled Database Studio and deleted the C.\Users\MyAccount\sdb folder manually.
    I reinstalled Database Studio and started it as Administrator.
    However, the error is still appearing.
    And, what makes it even worse is : now I am not able to uninstall Database Studio anymore.
    When I run SAP MaxDB Installation Manager and select the instance of database Studio to be uninstallled I am receiving the error:
    "ERR: Unhandled Exception: Can't call method: "GenPackageList" on an undefined value at SDB/Install/Gui/Dialogs/SelectInstance.pm line 328"
    Any advice is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Agnieszka

    Hello Yashwanth,
    thank you for your quick Response.
    Yes, I downloaded and installed the 64 bit Version of dbstudio.
    I downloaded and ran the following .exe file: maxdb-studio-win-64bit-x86_64-7_9_08_09.exe
    I am running the following Java-Version:
    Java Plug-in 1.6.0_45
    Using JRE version 1.6.0_45-b06 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
    I myself am not a SAP customer. However, the Company I am working for is a SAP customer.
    Can you explain in Detail, how to create a ticket with SAP?
    Thanks,
    Agnieszka

  • Right-click, drop-down menus in Firefox 15 cause entire Mac OS 10.7.4 system to hang, forcing manual reboot.

    I bought a new MacBook Pro.
    I am running Mac OS 10.7.4 with Firefox 15. Every time I right click or try to use a drop-down menu in Firefox, it causes the entire system to hang, forcing a manual reboot.
    No crash reports are available as the Firefox does not actually crash.
    I have tried
    1.) Starting Firefox in safe mode
    2.) Disabling all the add-ons
    3.) Resetting Firefox
    4.) Removing and re-installing Firefox
    5.) Disabling hardware acceleration
    The problem still occurs.
    This is critical a critical issue as I have been using Firefox's Zotero plugin to write my PhD dissertation which is about 50% complete and now I cannot use Firefox or the Zotero plugin and have about 800 references I do not want to have to manually re-enter!! Also it is preventing me from continuing work on the dissertation as I am unable to insert references, and I have submit this thing by March!!!!

    Ok, further developments. Still can't get Firefox to work; it makes Lion hang and I have to force a reboot. I tried using terminal to open FF's profile manager, delete my old profile and make a new one. Same problem.
    I tried making a new user account in Mac OS, and doing another fresh install of Firefox. It worked! I was able to use drop down menus and right click without crashing the system!
    However, as soon as I installed the Zotero plugin... the same issue started occurring again.
    Dear programmers, please help me. It will literally take me weeks of work to re-do all of my citations using a different software or manually. There must be a way to fix this problem!

  • Java hangs

    Hi all,
    I am facing an issue in java.
    Problem,
    The sever stop responding to anything, it just hangs, cannot be restarted unless killing java process through task manager. does not respond to hprof, jstacktrace, jvisio, console, anything.
    the problem occurs very intermittently, some time it works, some time it doesn't, so, very difficult keep track of this.
    when tried to debugging, it seems to be hanging on creating a instance using constructor.newInstance() method.
    Especially in sun.rmi.server.Util.createStub() method.
    which is trying to create a stub object, it prints (sys.out.println) the loaded stub class and constructor also, but newInstance method hangs and do not print then onwards.
    // sun.rmi.server.remote.Util.java
    private static RemoteStub createStub(Class remoteClass, RemoteRef ref)
    throws StubNotFoundException
    String stubname = remoteClass.getName() + "_Stub";
    try {
    Class stubcl =
    Class.forName(stubname, false, remoteClass.getClassLoader());
    Constructor cons = stubcl.getConstructor(stubConsParamTypes);
    return (RemoteStub) cons.newInstance(new Object[] { ref });
    } catch {
    it hangs here,, (RemoteStub) cons.newInstance(new Object[] { ref });
    it is very intermittent, once for so many attempts,
    Please help about the ways this can be debugged further or any solution to this.
    Thanks,
    Kalpa

    If only it was as simple as making a post in a forum and then sitting back and waiting for answers.
    But it is not. It will take plenty of smart people investigating every tiny little corner of the working environment to see where the problem may stem from. It starts by changing your attitude - it is too soon to claim that "java hangs". It might just as well be the OS that is blocking the process for some reason. You seem to have traced this to RMI, which opens network connections. Perhaps that is failing.
    Check every log file available in the system, that is all I can say. If you must blame Java, try running with an alternate version (older and newer) to see if that changes anything. Create proof before you make claims.
