Hi,
I have 6 years of experience in SAP HR. Have started my career as ABAPer. Efficently worked in BSP.
For past 4 years i have been in eHR project ( SAP HR ABAP, ESS, MSS, eAppraisal - Configuration and development in BSP,elearning,EP ( Content and user Admin). For past 1 year i have been in SAP Payroll (Schemas,payroll functions,wagetypes). Currently doing payroll post production support.
Though my role is senior sofware engineer, i have worked efficeintly in functional side for eAppraisals and SAP Payroll (schemas, fns,features and wagetype configuration.
Wht role i can go for? Which will be good for my future? Which role has more openings?

How about openings for SAP techno-functional? Heard only small companies have techno functional positions and most of the MNC's have separate positons for technical and functional.
I am in dilemma, which one to go for. anyone had simillar experience?

Career path for a XI consultant

I would like to know what is the career path for a XI consultant. (like, abapers can become techno-consultants after some time). Is there any chance for xi consultant to go to functional side? Or what other options, does a XI consultant have?

From your question it seems that you already have experience on XI. There is no much scope in XI to at functional side. Functional people are basically meant for functional modules or for determining the functionality of the application for the developers. In XI best thing is to be a XI architect.
Role of XI architect is very important in defining the system landscape, indentifying the requirement, requirement gathering and many more. Just focus on this role and I think you have a very bright opportunities ahead.

There are sites that have a person devoted to pressing the "Import request" button? I want to work there. I like how your BASIS team has 8 people with only 2 of them doing actual BASIS haha. And given that of your 2 BASIS people, one is a consultant (i.e. a person who gives professional or expert advice) that leaves you with 1 person doing all the work...

Reconciliation account change authorisation.

We have the requirement as below.
The change of reconciliation account in vendor master should be allowed to particular user only. Other users will have authorisation of transaction XK02 but they should not be allowed to change reconciliation account.
Pl. suggest a solution.

Hi,
You can do that using authorization objection F_LFA1_AEN (Authorization for changing certain fields) . Before asking your BASIS guy you will have to creat field group in SPRO..Financial accountin..AP/AR..transactions.. There you will have to define field group which will include reco account field.
Now consult BASIS guy ,and assign the object f_lfa1_aen with field group you created giving activity 3 display. Now the users who will be assigned this object,group and activity wouldnt be able to change recon account.

I need to have two more fields(Dunning level and last dunned) in F-30 transaction screen number 331 which are also from the table bseg as the other fields in the screen. Can you please tell me how to acheive this.? Is there any exit for this?

these fields may be suppressed by configeration people.
you can see these fields when you enable them by going to OBC4 tcode.
Generally these things will be done by Functional consultants/Basis people.
you need to contact them.

Dear Expert
We are into manufacturing industry & my M.D. wants to see All pending orders value-wise with Sub-Total and Grand-Total.
How can we export All pending orders in Microsoft Excel.
Anyone can help me to complete this task, as I am a Technical Consultant(BASIS) & I am not sure how to start this task.

Hi,
I believe you are looking for a report to see the pending orders which are not approved.
If So,
Use transction SQVI to create a query.
1.Join the tables T16FS and EKKO.
2.Link the fileds Release groups and Release stratergy of both the tables T16FS and EKKO.Then come back from that screen.
3.There will b 2 coloumns with list fields and selection fileds.
Flag the selection fields indicator for release codes which you want to use as input parameter to extract the other details like PO,value etc.
4.In the list coloumn select the fields which you want to extract.
then execute you will get a screen where you need to input the Release code and execute it.
Then the output with the fields choosen will be displayed,Which you can download it to excel.

Open in Tabs always replaces all other open tabs ?

This is unacceptable. Suppose I have 5 open tabs and then I pres Open in Tabs (this command is available on the Toolbar when I create collections)
This will close down all the 5 open tabs and replace them with the tabs in the folder!! I want to keep my 5 tabs open aswell.

Yes, I use the internet extensively most days and just switched to Mac/Safari from Windows/Internet Explorer. I love Apple and the Mac. So much easier to use in many ways, especially when you learn shortcuts. On Windows/IE I could have 3-6 browsers open, each with their own tabs, and see in them in the task bar and easily choose them. I am having trouble with this kind of visibility while switching in Safari. One thing I do love is the tab collections. Excellent! I have one for the weather, with 2 tabs in it, and one for my investments, with 3 tabs. I would agree strongly that their needs to be an option to open these collections in tabs, where it added to the existing browser's tabs instead of replacing them. Also, another need: Allow me to see titles of my open browsers and when I hit Apple` (Command`) to switch browsers, I see the focus change to the other browser title, on the bottom of the screen like the tabs go across the top. Or have them pop up where the tabs are now, when Command` is hit. Then they switch back when you let go of Command`. For people like me who are on sometimes 10 browsers, each with 3-5 tabs, all day long, there needs to be much more visibility to what is open, and easy ways using both shortcuts and mouse to navigate all of the browsers and tabs and be able to see your browser titles with tab titles underneath. Like a sitemap or an outline with indents. It could me similar to when you hit Command-tab. I actually think Command tab should be expanded to include the browser windows, each one becoming an "application" along side of Word, Mail, iCal, Address Book, etc, all of which I have open all day. Then I can easily switch between my apps and browsers and have good visibility. Now I have to switch to Safari, then a second motion and process to switch to the correct browser out of 3-6, or even 10 browsers. So you could put them in the popup when Command - tab is hit. Then under each browser, show me an abbreviated title of the browser, and under it, show me abbreviated tab titles associated with that browser. Allow me in preferences to show or not show the tab titles. Expose is great but I would rather have the choice to do everything with Command - tab. For how much I use the internet, Command-tab keeps my hands on the keyboard and saves me so much time because I don't have to take my hands off the keyboard. Expose is great, but I loose time. Clicking on the Safari dock icon and holding is good too, but again my hands leave the keyboard, maybe 50 times a day and it costs me time and is inefficient. This whole thing I just wrote is a fabulous idea. It would be revolutionary if Apple did this. Apple - If you like this idea I have another one that is completely revolutionary and a whole new product/communication concept. I need to get a provisional patent on it first before sharing it. Anyway, I'm an ideas guy and commonly have great ideas and would like to know how I can do that with Apple on a consulting basis through my company, Kokopelli's Earth, Inc. www.kokopellisearth.com. Meanwhile, I'm just going to keep posting on these boards. Watch my posts. They may not be often, but when I say something, it will usually be a pretty good idea. Or at least start the thinking process on how to improve something greatly. At least I think so. I love what you are doing. I have changed over all of my stuff to Apple. 2 Mac Books in the house, 2 iPhones, Mobileme, Time Capsule, Apple TV, Airport. Transport control program tp ended with error code 0247

Hi,
Our landscape is such that any transport request once released, gets imported to Q system immediately. However there is another system (another box REG - regression testing) to which I would like to import a request but the transport queue of REG system does not show the request. So I tried to explicitly add it to the queue but I get the following error message, 'Transport control program tp ended with error code 0247.
There doesn't seem to be a problem with data & CO files as the same request is in Q system and the changes are all transported successfully.
This request is a transport of copy that contains some ABAP code. (changes to the relevant package can be saved only in local requests therefore transport of copy is recommended to transport the changes).
The changes appear correctly in Q system but for REG system the request neither appears in the queue nor be added to it.
Can someone advise where the problem is.

When the REG system is not in the system landscape, probably you may not have Data & Co files in that system & you need to have those files separately in the REG system path & then import it.
Do consult Basis team on this issue.

we plan to upgrade from BW 3.1 to 3.5. We are relative small instalation (2 FI infocubes)
Q1/ How long could take
- the whole project?
- the preparation for this project?
- the realization/test phase?
Q2/ which capacity should we have for this project - aplication consultants, basis people?
Q3/ should we consider also upgrade to 7.0 yet?

You can (Authorization material master by views of accounting & costing ) achieve this by way of authorization control. In transaction PFCG, select your role for creating / changing the material master. Select option Maintenance statuses. Then at change status option select views that you want to give the authorization to the users. Create profile & save the role. Now assign the role to the users. They will get only those views you have selected. You have to select those views in all the roles related to material master (create, change, display).Better Consult Basis Consultant,

BW 3.5 Upgrade approx 20Days to do?

I would like some input into estimates of effort to upgrade our 3.1 to 3.5.
I have been following some threads and it seems that the upgrade,if you follow the SAP instructions and are well prepared, seems straight forward.
I have reviewed the 'How to.....SAP BW 3.5..." document.
It seems quite explicit in its steps and information.
Are there any other major steps that I am missing. If its approx 20 days to do then that is what it is, I am just a bit perplexed. We want to move on with the upgrade and its the scheduling of the upgrade window is my concern if it is the above amount of time. We may well have to put-off for 6 months.
We only have one application running in SEM - BPS.

The document would give you an idea as to what all needs to be done. But you also need to look ata
1. Volume of data / number of cubes / ODS to be migrated into 3.5
2. You will also have to do the same to your DEV , QAS and PRD systems in order to continue from this point onwards with BW 3.5
3. You should also look at testing the entire setup post upgradation. Please ask your application consultant if they have budgeted for this and have made a correct estimate of the volumes and different systems.
I am not saying that 20 days is too short but I think testing has been left out and validation.
You would have to find out all reports / Graphs etc etc and then look at migration and then also look at any new expectations - since there might be enhancements with the feeling that - ' Anyway we are upgrading - let us get these reports also done in the process' This thought will increase the scope and increase the timelines.

Error in opening PDF attachment sent using SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1

Hi all,
I am converting script to PDF using FM 'SX_OBJECT_CONVERT_OTF_PDF'. Using this table i am trying to send it as a attachment to mail id. I am able to send the attachment successfully, but not able to open the attachment.
It is giving error as 'Adobe Reader could not open file because it is either not supported file type or because the file has been damaged'.
I tried seaching on SDN, but did not get useful answer.
Can you please help me in resolving this error?

This is the same problem we have encountered, this has started after adding a patch.
After doing so much R & D we could not do it. We have written a mail to SAP and they
have instructed the basis consultant to follow certain procedure and finally the issue is
solved.
I suggest you to consult basis consultants.
