XI Technology available for SAP IS-U

Hi Everyone
Does anyone of you know, at what version of IS-U was the first one to cater for the use of XI Technology in communication, and if so, when was this released.
Do anyone of you know, if hot-package or packages have contained XI Technology for earlier versions than the above IS-U version, especially for version 4.64, and if so, do you know the release date of that.
Hope any of you in here can help me.
Cheers
Per Engholt

Hi Per,
IS-U and XI are two completely different pairs of shoes...
As to my knowledge even in ECC 6.0 IS-U (or now called UT) communicates with XI (now PI) via IDOCs. If communicates at all, I just know IDEX(-GE) (in respect of IS-U) using XI in a SAP supported solution.
Since 4.64 knows IDOCs it should be able to work with XI. Your problem is the content in XI, as there is none for IS-U.

• Oracle RAC + Clusterware and another Cluster with Clusterware for SAP

Hi,
I have some questions about implementation of Oracle RAC and Clusterware with SAP
For exemple, an architecture with 4 servers ( 2 real and 2 vritual ).
I would like to know if i can do this
2 servers for the first cluster.
First cluster is with Clusterware and Oracle RAC
This is for all the SAP Oracle databases environment
I think there is no problem here.
Now, with 2 others servers il would like to make another cluster (with also clusterware ) for SAP Central services (SCS) and enque replication server (ERS)
Because all architecture is for only one SAP environment with separate services.
1 for Database (cluster 1)
1 for Central services ( cluster 2, virtual machine )
1 for Dialogue Instance (no cluster)
To be clear, the second cluster is to make HA of central services SAP (SCS and ERS )
My question 2 are :
Is it a good job to do this ? or there is anything wrong ?
Do i have to install antoher clusterware for this 2 servers or i have to make anything with the existing clusterware + oracle RAC ??
Thank you very much for you help

Hi Givre,
have you checked: Providing High Availability for SAP Resources (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/clusterware/pdf/sap-availability-on-rac-twp.pdf) available on otn.oracle.com/clusterware? Not being an SAP expert myself, I still think, this paper describes the configuration - at least partially - that you are trying to set up.
Just an idea. Thanks,

• BC-CTS interface for SAP on IBM i?

I have read about the Technology - Change and Transport System Interface (BC-CTS)
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn?rid=/webcontent/uuid/3a83de71-0501-0010-e490-b85cf78809d7 [original link is broken]
This is the interface that SAP provides to third-party SCM vendors to enable them to manage SAP transports and patches.
Can anyone tell me if the BC-CTS solution is available for SAP running on the IBM i?

Hello
BC-CTS is an integral part of SAP Basis. It is available on all SAP systems helps you to organize development projects in the ABAP Workbench and in Customizing, and then transport the changes between the SAP Systems in your system landscape.
Your platform, IBMi, makes no difference here.

• Will new batteries be made available for older Mac Books?

I have a Late 2008 Mac Book Pro 15" model. The battery life ***** on this thing. With the announcement of the new models and the new batteries, is Apple going to make the new battery technology available for the older models?
I'm guessing they will not given Apple's history, but I thought I would ask anyway. It sure would be nice to be able to get some decent battery life out of my laptop.
Thanks.

carl wolf wrote:
The newer higher capacity batteries use a different chemistry than the older batteries. There is no real reason that Apple couldn't replace the current battery chemistry with the newer one. However, I wouldn't expect it to happen for another year.
Not quite true. The OP's issue is with battery life, not battery lifespan. The slightly modified chemistry (they are still lithium polymer batteries, so the basic chemistry is the same) and the adaptive charging on the new batteries account for the lifespan of 1000 charge cycles vs. 300-400 charge cycles.
However, the increased battery life (i.e. run time on a full charge) is higher with the new batteries simply because they are physically bigger - 40% bigger, according to Apple. The newer, internal batteries are larger due, in part, to the fact that they are non-removable, meaning space formerly taken up by the battery case and latching mechanism can now be used for the battery itself.
So, although Apple might implement the modified chemistry and the adaptive charging controller in replacement batteries (although I think this is pretty unlikely), there's no way they can make them larger due to the constraints of the machines they are designed for. Therefore, there's no way for Apple to increase the battery life on the older machines.

• Solaris Cluter 3.2 for SAP

Hello All,
My SAP production environment needs to be running under Solaris Cluster 3.2. I am thinking of T5440 servers - 2 in number and StorageTek 6140. The agents available for SAP on Solaris Cluster 3.2 are:
Sun Cluster HA for SAP (failover or scalable).
Sun Cluster HA for SAP LiveCache (failover).
Sun Cluster HA for SAP Web Application Server (failover or scalable).
Sun Cluster HA for SAP DB (failover)
The ERP 6.0, EP 7.0, BI7.0 and Oracle HA DB needs to failover from one node to another.
My question is: What agents do I need to purchase for failing over the above the applications beside Sun Cluster HA for Oracle.
SAP vendor is asking me to provide three logical host names. The idea of Solaris 10 zones came into my mind.
Zones can be implemented with Sun Cluster 3.2 software in the global zone. That is, Sun Cluster 3.2 with zones enabled will be treated like physical nodes to be part of Sun Cluster Resource Groups. I feel it is best for those applications which are supported with containers and have a Sun Cluster agent but don't have the requirement of the zone itself failing over in case of a failure.
Any suggestions will be helpful.
Best Regards,
Bruce
