XI to mainframe adapter

iWay provides an SAP XI mainframe adapter.  We are looking into this functionality and wondering if anyone out there have had any experience with iWay's adapter.  We are interested in connecting to in-house mainframe CICS applications and wondering if we have to configure an adapter for every single application or does one adapter handle all\most communications between XI and the mainframe?

Shaun,
if you need any infos about our (iWay) CICS adapter incl. reference sites, please let me know.
Please find in addition a list of all certified iWay adapters for XI at http://www50.sap.com/softwarepartnerdir/product/productlist.asp?Letter=*&qNameSrch=%23&qKeyword=by%20iway&qWhere=3

  • Using Tuxedo Mainframe adapter for SNA with OSB

    Hi,
Can we use the Oracle Tuxedo mainframe adapter for SNA with the OSB?
    If yes then how?

    Hi Priyanka,
The Tuxedo Mainframe Adapters are separably licensed products and not included in the Tuxedo kits. I'm not certain the mainframe adapters are yet available for 10gR3 (I'm checking on this), and for whatever reason the latest version I can find for download is the 9.1 version that can be downloaded from eDelivery.

  • Configuring iWay Siebel  Sender/Receiver adapter in SAP XI.

    Hi,
I am evaluating iWay Siebel Adapter for connection between Siebel system and SAP system. I am using both the sender and receiver iWay adapter for both inbound and outbound scenario.
In both the case the transport protocol used is HTTP. I searched a lot but could not find a document which explains the different parameter in the Communication channel for both sender and receiver adapter.
Please let me know if you have some document regarding the same. Also in my present scenario I don't have access to Siebel system so I am using a HTTP client to simulate a Siebel system.
I want to know what should I use in the Listener port in the Sender CC and how to send message using this port from a Local HTTP Client.

  • Tuxedo 12c - Do mainframe adapters support two-phase commit?

With Oracle Tuxedo 12c, do the Tuxedo mainframe adapters support two-phase commit?  I see there is support for two-phase commit with Tuxedo COBRA, for relational databases.  My customer has a requirement to integrate with their mainframe systems and require two-phase commit (for rollback functionality) with the Tuxedo mainframe adapters.

    Hi,
The Tuxedo Mainframe Adapter for SNA supports two phase commit protocol, or in IBM mainframe parlance syncpoint level 2.

  • IMS / DB Adapter

    Hi
I'm trying to do a feasibility analysis for using Oracle Connect for IMS/DB .

I see that a eclipse plugin for Oracle Studio is mentioned. I searched for it but cant find it.
Basically Im intrested in the way it exports the metadata in XSD.
"Oracle Studio captures the metadata defined in COBOL Copy book, PSB
and DBD files and exposes them as XSD/WSDL schemas." .
Can i get the format of these XSD /WSDL Files genereated.

Any, input is greatly appreciated. There wouldn't be one most common one since one typically uses a solution that works with their existing stack. e.g those not using Weblogic are unlikely to use Weblogic Java Adapter for Mainframes.

  • Can Oracle Tuxedo repalce IBM mq connectivity from mainframe

    Hi all,
I am new to Oracle Tuxedo i have some basic question we are facing some issues with the IBM MQ with mainframe .
Can we repalce IBM MQ and can we use oracle tuxedo . How end systems that are connecting to MQ will connect to Tuxedo did they use JMS?
    Thanks
    Phani

    Hi Phani,
You don't need to use JMS to use Tuxedo's /Q facility. It is an option if you already are using JMS.
Any system that supports Tuxedo client install can access Tuxedo /Q queues. On the mainframe this could be done with the zLinux version of Tuxedo. Other systems such as AIX, Linux, Windows, etc., also have client kits that can enqueue and dequeue messages from Tuxedo /Q.
    The WebLogic Tuxedo connector can:
    1) take messages from a JMS queue and place them on a Tuxedo /Q queue
    2) take messages from a Tuxedo /Q queue and place them on a JMS queue
    3) take message from a JMS queue and directly call a Tuxedo service with that message
The performance of /Q is good, although how good depends upon the quality of service chosen. /Q supports both persistent (disk based) and transient (memory based) queues, and it also supports XA so /Q queues can be part of a distributed transaction (syncpoint in mainframe terminology.)
zLinux is not a widely used Tuxedo platform. However Tuxedo /Q is used quite a bit in projects where customers are moving their mainframe applications off of the mainframe and onto Tuxedo due to cost and performance concerns. Many customers headed down this path use our Application Runtime for Tuxedo (ART) which besides supporting the rehosting of CICS applications, also provides a JES-2 like batch subsystem that heavily uses /Q.
I believe you are currently doing:
    non-mainframe MQ Series mainframe
application using MQ <====> Queue <=====> application using
    API (MQI) Manager MQ API
    What I'm suggesting is:
    non-mainframe Tuxedo mainframe application
application using Tuxedo <====> /Q Queue <=====> using Tuxedo API
API to access /Q Manager to access /Q
Although the more common scenario when dealing with mainframes is to use the Tuxedo Mainframe Adapter (TMA). TMA provides a bi-directional transactional gateway between mainframe applications and Tuxedo applications. Using TMA, CICS applications see Tuxedo services as DPL or APPC based transactions, and Tuxedo sees CICS transactions as Tuxedo services. Thus a Tuxedo service (or client) can directly invoke a CICS transaction in exactly the same manner that it invokes another Tuxedo service. The service/client is unaware that the provider of the service invoked is actually some transaction running on CICS. Likewise a CICS application simply uses DPL or APPC to invoke a remote transaction, and that transaction actually ends up being a Tuxedo service running somewhere on Tuxedo. If using the SNA version of the gateway, one can use syncpoint level 2 for guaranteed integrity of updates made both on CICS and Tuxedo.

  • EIBCALEN not correctly informed in TMA-CRM environment

    Hi,
We have found that the EIBCALEN field is not correctly informed in the program invoked from DFHMIRS when invoked from a tpcall from Tuxedo.
The IEBCALEN value is always higher than the length informed in both lengths (ilen and olen) of the tpcall with CARRAY type. In fact, ilen=olen, in our case.
What is wrong? why EIBCALEN is not equal to ilen=olen?
    Our setup is this one:
    Red Hat Linux x86_64
Application runs in a 'Tuxedo Version 12.1.1.0, 32-bit, Patch Level 015' that executes tpcall to Mainframe.32 bits is a constraint of the app
TMA runs in ' Tuxedo Version 11.1.1.2.0, 64-bit, Patch Level 094'. It is a domain specifically configured to allow the application to connect to the MainframeTuxedo 11.1 is a constraint in the Mainframe side

  • What Best Approach Tuxedo offers for Integrating Multiple Apps

    Hi Tuxedo Experts,
I have a question in a scenario where I am planning to integrate multiple applications through Oracle Tuxedo. I will not be using it as a Transaction Processing System. Rather, I am trying to use it as an integration layer (somewhat like ESB). I have a couple of enterprise applications (Siebel & SAP), some telco system that only accept MML commands on a given port and some custom built applications. I have to design and implement the integration layer for this stack of applicaitons.
As far as I have understood Oracle Tuxedo, I will have to develop Tuxedo client for each application and then make the clients do all integration related work (like an applicaiton adapter/wrapper). I am not thinking about work on SALT to expose web services throught Tuxedo, since web services can be created and exposed more easily without Tuxedo. So, I guess I have to do one client per application. First thing that I wanted to confirm was, am I on right track considering my scenario? or Oracle Tuxedo can offer a better approach for my scenario?
Since I will be developing clients for each application that I integrate, would it be good if I skip the server all together and follow the Queue based communication (Peer-to-Peer Asynchronous Messaging Model)? Or will it cause any implications?
    Any guidance/tips is highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ahsan Asghar

    Hi Ahsan,
Many customers use Tuxedo as a form of ESB. Partly due to its performance and scalability, but also partly due to its connectivity options. Along with SALT, Tuxedo provides connectivity to:
JEE via WebLogic Tuxedo Connector in WebLogic Server, or the Tuxedo JCA Adapter
Mainframes using the Tuxedo mainframe adapters (SNA and TCP for IBM mainframes and OSI-TP for Bull GCOS and the like)
    IBM Websphere MQ adapter
The above are all transparent to Tuxedo clients and servers, i.e., using the SNA mainframe adapter, CICS applications see Tuxedo services as a DPL or APPC remote transaction, and Tuxedo see those CICS resources as Tuxedo services.
As for writing clients, etc., the real question is where do you want the adopting (? maybe adaptation?) done and how can the systems needing integration communicate with Tuxedo. For example, as I mentioned in another thread, any service advertised in Tuxedo can be accessed as a SOAP/HTTP(S) web service. Siebel allows calling external web services as business services. SAP allows calling into it via Remote Function Calls (RFCs). So you could expose an SAP function module as a Tuxedo service writing a trivial Tuxedo server that uses RFC to call SAP. Then expose that Tuxedo service as a web service and call it from Siebel. The real issue becomes whether the SAP function module has the kind of interface you want or need. If not, you could potentially alter the interface to the SAP function module by changing the simple Tuxedo server and not trying to change SAP.
Using the above technique, you only need one mechanism in Siebel to interact with any other system, as the mechanics of the communication are hidden. So the same technique (client as you were referring to it I believe) can be used to communicate with SAP and any other external system. For instance, let's say you have an external system you want to call from Siebel and the external system uses IBM WebSphere MQ Series in an asynchronous fashion. You could probably directly build an MQ client in Siebel to communicate with that remote system, but then your Siebel code has explicit knowledge of that remote system and how to communicate with it. If you already have a means of communicating with Tuxedo, you can use the same mechanism to communicate with the external system again by writing a simple Tuxedo server that accepts the request from Siebel and then enqueues the request (with perhaps some transformation first) to MQ, and then waits for a reply on the appropriate MQ reply queue. Thus Siebel sees a synchronous interaction even though the system it is communicating with is operating asynchronously.
The primary advantage of the above technique is you only have to develop one form of communication for each system, instead of a point to point mess you might otherwise end up with.
Of course the above can also be done with something like Oracle Service Bus, but it sounded as though you had specific reasons for using Tuxedo. OSB might be especially appealing if most of the system to integrate already use XML as OSB is very good at performing XML transformations, something Tuxedo isn't especially strong at.

  • DATEDIF Error #NUM!

    I have 3 Columns.
    1) Provision Date= This is a date where we provisioned a server. It can be 9/1/2012, or 5/30/2013..etc
    2) YTD 2013= This date equals 9/30/2013 which is my fiscal year.
    3) DateDiff= This column I use to calculate the date diff.
First 2 columns are Date only, and the thrid is a number.
    Issue:
I need to calculate months only ("ym")between the Provision Date & YTD 2013. For examle, if provision date is 2/6/13 then the DateDiff should be 8.
However, the way I want to caluclate a month is anything before the 15th of the month gets counted as a full month. Anything after, does not count as a month and only start the following month. For example, if Provision date is 2/16/13, then the
    DateDiff will only be 7.

    Regards,
    Rakesh

    Hi Rakesh,
Migrating to the Tuxedo Mainframe Adapter is not like moving to another SNA stack. In fact the SNA mainframe adapter doesn't provide an SNA stack, but uses the SNA stack of the machine running what is called the CRM (Communications Resource Manager). That component can either run on the mainframe or on a distributed system that has an SNA stack. To the Tuxedo application, the major benefit of TMA is that is doesn't require any mainframe or SNA knowledge in the application. Clients of the mainframe services simply make tpcall() requests as they would for any other Tuxedo service. Likewise mainframe clients to the Tuxedo services simply make EXEC CICS requests to invoke the Tuxedo service as though it were another CICS transaction (this is all assuming the mainframe application is CICS based. If it is IMS based the model is similar, although IMS queues are used instead of CICS transactions.) The whole point of this is that the Tuxedo Mainframe Adapters hide all of the underlying transport technology to simplify the application development.
It sounds like your application is using a native SNA stack directly, so in that case moving to TMA might be a substantial amount of work, although not necessarily.

Yes, JMS adapter do NOT support SSL
    > 2. Create files locally in PI server and run unix script to send files to mainframe. Poll regularly to get files from mainframe.
When Security is concerned, It is not advicable to create/write the file in server
SFTP is not supported by XI / PI , Supports FTPS - FTP with SSL.
