XL Reporter fails to start Excel if RDP user is not an administrator

Hi,
I have been struggling for a week with this problem.
We are running SAP B1 2007 SP1 PL08 on windows server 2003.
We have the SAP B1 client running on Windows Server 2008 R2 RDP (terminal server) as a remote app.
Excel 2007 is loaded on the RemoteDesktop server (Terminal server)
When a standard domain user is running SAP B1 as a remote app and attempts to open an XL report we get the error message
"Security Settings in Microsoft Excel Prohibit XL reporter from running"
I know this message has been covered before and I know the fix (when not using SAP as a remote app) is to tick the check box in the Excel trust centre "Trust access to VBA object model"
This works on standard client install, i.e SAP B1 client loaded on the users machine.
This is done and many permutations of various settings in the trust centre have been tried.
The only way we can get Excel to open when selecting an XL report from SAP B1remote app, is to put the remote user into the local administrators group on the RDP server (terminal server), however this is not appropriate. So does anyone know what setting I am missing. It seems to be some permision related thing , the Error message seems to be not entirely acurate.
I have tried giveing remote_desktop user full permissions to the entire drive on the RDP (terminal server) where Excel and SAP are located but getting no where.
Our Support organisation to which we pay a support fee too is unable to solve this issue after 1 week of waiting.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the Response,
Unfortunately this made no difference.
I went to the RDP server (Terminal server) Windows 2008 R2.
Logged into the RDP servers console desktop as administrator.
Changed user to install mode eg c:> change user /install
Started SAP B1 on the RDP server desktop.
Logged into SAP B1 as an administrator.
Started XL reporter from the tools menu. Nothing different appeared to happen.
Went to a client machine and logged into SAP via Remote App as a standard user.
Same error message appears when trying to open an XL Report.
Do you know which registery settings should be set?

  • The application has failed to start dll bcaz libmex.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem

    Hi ,
I am new to Labview & Matlab related Software. I am using LabView 8.20 and Matlab 6.5.1.199709 . I generated simple .dll(for adding 2 numbers) file with the help of Matlab and trying to use that dll file in Labview using "Call Library Function Node" control, then I am getting the following error.
the application has failed to start dll because libmex.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem
Could any one help on this?
    Thanks & Rgds
    naveen

    Hello Naveen,
The libmex.dll is installed by Matlab. It should ideally be located as \bin\win32. Check to make sure that this DLL is there.
Also add the path to the DLLs to "Path" system variable (On XP: Start>>Control Panel>>System>>Advanced and click Environment Variables)
    Hope this helps,

  • Installation fails with user is not an administrator Acrobat XI Pro Win ESD

After several attempts to install Acrobat XI Pro Win ESD, each try failing at the same step. The error message indicates that the user is not an administrator. This is not true.
I have uninstalled Adobe reader, restarted, and installed again, resulting in the same failure. System OS, Win 7
    Any ideas?

I and many other people have successfully installed in Win 7 and Win 8 without issue, so something specific with your system is the cause. Run the Acrobat cleaner to remove anything left over from previous attempts.
Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs
Then make sure that all extraneous software is turned off. No virus or spyware protection, nothing running in the background that you don't need to have running. I haven't tried in Windows 8, but in Windows 7:
    click on the start menu
in the Search panel type: msconfig
See if you can install during a Safe boot. If something is necessary for installation that is not available during a Safe boot,
then look Startup Processes and turn off what you can, reboot and try again.

I uninstalled and reinstalled and still getting same error message: iTunes exe unable to locate component. This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.DLL was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.  I've done it several times and still get the error.  I'm fearful I have lost all my music.  What can I do?

  • Application has failed to start b/c qtcf, dll was not found

I recently had my computer serviced by the Geek squad for virus removal, I tried to use itunes and connect my ipod and I keep getting this message by: itunesHelper.exe- unable to locate component. "This application has failed to start because QTFC.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." I have tried to install Itunes and quick time player, but the same error pops up and I can't close the tab. Any suggestions?

    QTCF.dll
Let's doublecheck on the current locations of that dll.
Go "Start > Search" and then do an all files and folders search on QTCF.dll. In "More advanced options", make sure the following items are all checked:
    *Search System folders*
    *Search hidden files and folders*
    *Search subfolders*
What QTCF.dll files do you find, and what are their file locations?

    Hello boochbrain,
I believe you are correct that these files are part of a runtime engine; specifically, the C++ runtime library.  Reinstalling these libraries could definitely alleviate these errors you are seeing.

  • CSACS servcies fail to start when using domain user account

I have installed CSACS 3.3 on a member server in a Windows 2003 domain. The member server is running Server 2003, too.
I created a user account in Active Directory and configured the CSACS services to log on as this account. Through Group Policy I granted the user the "log on as a service" and "act as part of the operating system" privileges per the Installation Guide for Cisco Secure ACS for Windows. I verefied that the policy has taken affect on the CSACS server.
The CSACS services fail to start as this user account. The error messages are non-specific. If I add the user to the local administrators group the services start just fine.
Anybody know what I might be missing?
    Thanks in advance.
    Colin

Did you ever figure this out? I'm running into the exact same problem. Same version of ACS and everthing. CSLog is the only service that started.

    Abhi Oommen

    Hi Abhi,
As far as I know, there is no fix for this issue currently. To work around this issue, you still have to replace Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Design.dll (11.0.5532.0) with the last working version: 11.0.3412.0 from SP1 CU9.
However, if you concern about the fixes of this issue,

I uninstalled QT, did a reboot, removed all QT files including any in /window/SysWOW64.  Then I reloaded a stand alone version of QT while I was not connected to a network with my Norton Firewall off.
Still no luck.  Then I removed all Appe software from the machine and reloaded just QT.  Still nothing.
    What am I missing?

Interesting. The pref file issues have more commonly produced a sort of error-message-free launch failure (except that a button for the Player shows in the Task Bar). But the symptoms of this sort of thing tend to be subject to change without notice (which is why I thought I'd better check).
The pref files can be difficult to track down. (Where they show up on a Vista or 7 box seems to depend on whether or not you're 64-bit, or possibly even depending on which versions of QuickTime have been installed on the machine. haven't quite worked out the rules for that yet.) But the following instructions are worth a try.
First we need to check some View Settings. Log back into your usual account.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
In Computer, open Local Disk C:\ or whichever drive your user documents are stored on.
    Open the "Users" folder.
Open the folder with the name of the Windows User account in which the QuickTime Player isn't displaying properly.
    Open the "AppData" folder.
Now the hunt for the QuickTime preferences begins.
    Open the "Roaming" folder.
    Open the "Apple Computer" folder.
Do you see a "QuickTime" folder in there? If so, drag that out onto the Desktop. Now try launching the QuickTime Player. Does it open properly this time?
If there was no QuickTime folder in \Roaming\Apple Computer\, or if the Player still doesn't open properly
Quit the QuickTime Player taskbar button again.
Go back into the "AppData" folder.
    Open the "Local" folder.
    Open the "Apple Computer" folder.
Do you see a "QuickTime" folder in there? If so, drag that out onto the Desktop. Now try launching the QuickTime Player again.
If there was no QuickTime folder in \Local\Apple Computer\, or if the menu has not been cleared
Quit the QuickTime Player taskbar button again.
Go back into the "AppData" folder.
    Open the "LocalLow" folder.
    Open the "Apple Computer" folder.
Do you see a "QuickTime" folder in there? If so, drag that out onto the Desktop. Now try launching the QuickTime Player again. Any luck this time?

  • Lightroom 5.2 "assertion failed" on start-up; prior LR 4 remedies not working

    Hi folks,
I'm getting "assertion failed" when trying to start LR 5.2.  Looking through old threads I've tried the remedy suggested for LR 4, i.e. renaming the .agprefs file and letting LR build a new one (which it does, verified in Windows Explorer) but I still get the same error.  LR asks me to enter my country, then the license key (which is pre-filled), but clicking "Finish" takes me immediately to "assertion failed".  Double-clicking the .lrcat file in Windows Explorer produces the same sequence.
LR was working fine last time I used it, 6 days ago.  I've added nothing to the computer since; there are no other or earlier copies of LR on the computer.  Lenovo Thinkpad T420, Win 7 Pro 64-bit.
    Help!
    Jon
UPDATE: I just tried it again so I could write down the license key in case I needed to remove and re-install LR - and it started OK.  All I did differently this time was enter my name and e-mail address in the "Register now?" screen, then hit "Finish"; I didn't even click "register now".  Weird.

A work-around that I am using is to run Lightroom as an administrator on my Windows 7 system (right-click on the icon and choose run as administrator).  Everything then works ok.  I also needed to run as an administrator to be able to update some plug-ins I was using.  I fixed the plug-in update issues by changing the permissions on plug-ins folder.  I suspect that it is a similar issue with the maps.
I have not figured out what folder or files need to have the permissions altered to stop Lightroom from working in the unelevated state but if someone reading this knows please share.  I saw some posts related to the same issue but on Macs but the Windows configuration is different.

  • Firefox fails to start - error the requested resource is not available- DASHPOT.JSP

Firefox had been operating satisfactorily since I acquired the new Dell PC. But after and upgrade I can now not log in. Tried uninstalling and re-installing Firefox to no avail - same error report on startup.

In the Projects tab, right click WebApplication1 and then choose properties in the very end. In the Project Properties window, click the run in the left panel, check the context path in the right panel. Make sure it's /WebApplication1/WebApplication1 (default should be WebApplication1, I think).
Then open web.xml to make sure the welcome page is added as index.jsp.

  • "Itunes failed to start B/c MSVCR80.dll was not found."

ANyone got any help with this issue on my Laptop?
Worked fine yesterday and today I keep getting this pop up.  I've deleted and downloaded itunes again (twice) and clicked the repair button with no luck.
    Help!

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
