XL Reporter hangs during activation
Hope somebody could provide solution to our problem. First of all we are running SB1 2005 version, we performed backup monthly or yearly and version of XL Report PL 25. We encounter this problem (XL Reporter hang) recently when we restore a previous database from a backup to another server in order for us to review reports made under XL Reporter. We click the start button to activate XL Report, we waited for it to activate but it never did. So we end the XL Reporter process and retry again but the same problem encountered. We even waited for it for several hours to no avail. It did not even suggest error message.
We appreciate for the support you could provide us.
Thanks
When you say when we restore a previous database from a backup to another server, you have to make sure the other server has exact environment like your current server. That would be extremely difficult to match. However, without match the chance for your XLR to run smoothly would be slim. May I know why you need to restore your db to another server?
Thanks,
Gordon

Reports hangs during formating page
hi
I am calling a report in PDF through a report calling form.
If i have a report of more than 200 pages it hangs at a certain page showing as formating page no. xyz
Then i will have to cancel the job or restart the report server.
if the report is of less page it displays without problem.
Thanks
MGPlease try increasing the JVM heap size for the engine. Set jvmOptions for engine as,
<engine id="rwEng" jvmOptions="-Xmx512M" class="oracle.reports.engine.EngineImpl" ....

Report Server report process hangs during formatting reports
We are using Forms and Reports services stand alone.
I am printing 2000 reports every day, 5% reports hangs during formatting pages, or at any page number while formatting. Has anybody seen this problem and what was the fix. I am seriously thinking to change the report server and move to crystal reports.I am able to run request using Reports service. So this problem may be a setup issue.
1) Ensure that in $OH\network\admin\tnsnames.ora you have the TNS entry fo the DB connection
mydb, mydb.com =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = fullHostName)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = service_name)
If you have multiple Oracle Homes in the same machine please see that you have added tns entry to correct oracle home
2) Set the logon user for the service . Please follow the steps given below.
* On the machine that hosts the Reports Server, choose
Start > Settings > Control Panel
and double-click Services in the Control Panel folder.
* In the Services dialog box, choose "OracleORACLE_HOME_NAMEReports[repserver]", where ORACLE_HOME_NAME is the home name of the Reports Server and repserver is the name of the Reports Server instance. The value of ORACLE_HOME_NAME you can see in registry .
HKLM->SOFTWARE\Oracle\Home<x> -->ORACLE_HOME_NAME
* Click Startup. The Services dialog window displays.
* In the Services dialog window, select "This Account" in the" Log On As" section, and select an operating system user name and password. This specifies the user account under which the server process is run. The user running the Reports Server service must have access to anything the server may need.
3) If these do not solve the issue, please turn ON reports tracing, restart service and post the exception/errors you see in log file here. Also please post the full request URL here.
To turn ON tracing in $OH\reports\conf\<serverName.conf> , uncomment the trace element.
The logs can be seen in $OH\reports\logs\server_name.trc and server_name-rwEng.trc
Workaround
4) Till the setup issue with windows service is identified, you can workaround the issue by starting server as a standalone executable. For that give ,
rwserver server=server_name
Thanks

Error During Activation while activating Report Selection Texts
Hi,
I've developed a report and the Transport Request for the Report has been migrated to Quality and Production Systems. Now, I have to make some more changes where I had to create another request.
Now, while activating the Selection Texts for the Report under the New Transport Request, it gives me an error message saying "Error During Activation". Could somebody tell me the reason and resolution for this error?
Thanks and Regards,
VenkatHi ,
Try activating it through se80 , as it activates the complete object .
In inactive head , with your user id see all the inactive object , may be there you can find the program , or the texts . Activate and see.
Regards,
Sureshp. -

Crystal Reports Hangs on .Load event
Hi ,
We are using CR 2011 on Windows environment (2008 R2) and run the following workflow.
1. We have created a rpt with 9 sub reports.
2. We would like to print the port to a particular printer and hence have set the flag <NO Printer> on the report
3. The application is a windows based application and not a web based application.
4. We have tested the report by launching the report and printing it on the desired printer.
5. We have a windows service that executes the code of reading the report and printing it out as a pdf / printer.
6. Step 4 is an event based activity that occurs as frequently as every 2 minutes.
7. The database is Oracle 11g
PROBLEM:
1. Generally all runs well, however once / twice a day the report hangs.
2. We have created a dump file and observed that the hang occurs on .LOAD event.
3. We are using the .LOAD with a single parameter that of the report name.
4. We also observed that the spooler service hangs
5. We are disposing the report immediately after printing it.
After the problem occurs we are forced to start the windows service and the printer spooler service.
Solutions tried so far:
1. Changing the No Printer flag did not give any results.
2. We have created a job that restarts the windows service and the spooler service after a period of 30 mins. - This has minimized the occurances but not eliminated the problem.
Pseudo code:
ReportDocument CR = new ReportDocument()
CR.Load(<report file name);
//Set Main data Source
CR.Database.Tables[0].SetDataSource(ADODB.Recordset)
//set sub reports
CR.Subreports[<Index>].Database.Tables[0].SetDataSource(data table)
//here it prints on default printer or the set printer. (Printer s are UNC printers, however we register them - they are visible as local printers on the given machine - locally before printing)
CR.PrintToPrinter(noOfCopies, false, fromPage, toPage);
CR.Close()
CR.Dispose()
IF required we can also provide the rpt file and any other details.
Our customers are really suffering cause of this and any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks
AnilHi Ludek,
In continuation, please find the stack for the hang.
As we can see there is a OutOfMemory exception followed by a Stack Overflow exception and then we have the CrstalReports function calls.

hi all,
i am using as10g on windows 2003 enterprise edition, i am facing a problem i.e. after 2 or 3 work days my reports seems to be very slow sometime hangs then i have to restart the components from enterprise manager and it starts working fine. where is the area to focus and what can be the resolution.
best regards
Abdul QadirIf you have the metalink access, you can check out the list of bugs reported under "Report Server Hangs". We found those to be very useful in helping us figure out the reports hanging which we encountered a lot of during our initial conversion from reports 6i to 10g.
Would be helpful if you could gather as much information as you can on the error to help figure it out.
- Oracle App Server version ?
- Any REP-xxxxx or ORA-xxxxx messages reported in enterprise manager (drill down to the job and report engine)?
- A particular report only or random ? -
Error during activation process
hi all,
i have"error occured during activation process" DSO...but the request is available for reporting.what do i do?
thanksHello Dear
In the setting of infopackage you have following options
a. No update, no reporting (default)
If errors occur, the system terminates the update of the entire data package. The request is not released for reporting. However, the system continues to check the records.
b.Update valid records, no reporting (request red)
This option allows you to update valid data. This data is only released for reporting after the administrator checks the incorrect records that have not been updated and manually releases the request (using a QM action, that is, by setting the Overall status on the Status tab page in the monitor).
c.Update valid records, reporting possible
Valid records can be reported immediately. Automatic follow-up actions, such as adjusting the aggregates, are also carried out.
Check if you have selected the third option
Thanks

Crystal Report hanged at the 16374 pdf softcopy generated
To whom it may concern,
Recently, we have encountered a Crystal Report Problem during generating softcopy in PDF format.
When the Crystal Report generated 16374 pdf softcopy, the Crystal Report program is hanged and without error. It is replicable error and we have tried many times.
Do you have any idea what is the cause of the issue?
Thanks for your help.As you are using VS .NET I moved your post to the SAP Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio SCN Space
As I understand the issue, you are exporting report / reports(?) to pdf in some sort of a loop(?).
You are able to export 16374 times, then the app stops processing and hangs.
I'd like you to address the above two question marks please as these are assumptions and you need to clear these up.
Next, provide the version of CR you are using - please be precise.
Also, version of VS.
Note that you should be be cleaning up your objects - the reports as well as the dataset - e.g.; use .close and .dispose.
Check the hard drive - make sure you are not running out of HD space.
Check the %TEMP% directory and clean that out.

BB Desktop Manager for PC hangs during start-up
My wife has a 2 years old HP laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit OS, at Service Pack 1 level. BB Desktop Manager for PC hangs during it's (BB Desktop's) start-up. Initially the screen with BlackBerry Desktop Manager and the BB logo appears but then it goes away and a smallish screen appears and never changes from a blank grey screen. If you mouse over the border it indicates it is not responding. She has been using this product on this PC with no major problems for several years. Looking in the Events Viewer, it seems the error first appears on 10/9/2011. Yesterday I tried to fix the issue by installing the laciest version RIM 6.1.0.36 (she was using .35) That made no difference. I have the program set to run as an Administrator and have told Norton to Trust it.
The Event log entry for the oldest such event contains the following:
The program Rim.Desktop.exe version 6.1.0.35 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.
Process ID: 41d4
Start Time: 01cc86f573d09df1
Termination Time: 6677
Application Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Desktop\Rim.Desktop.exe
Report Id: aa0d892a-f2e9-11e0-a448-002713bd2c63
Since it is necessary to either task-manager the blank window shut or to tell it to force it to close, these errors may be generated by that action.
Today I uninstalled it and reinstalled it but still no improvement. Any suggestions?I have just copied in the most recent attempt to start it. The full log is quite large

IPhone/iTunes sync hangs during "backup" phase
When I plug my iPhone into my Mac, a sync with iTunes starts. That's fine; what's not fine is that the synchronization always "hangs" during the "Backing up your iPhone" phase. If I click the little "X" on the iTunes display window, it proceeds fine, presumably skipping the backup phase of the sync.
How can I stop this from hanging during the synchronization?
Thanks.I have been experiencing this problem lately as well. I've been using an Iphone for over a year now and this is a NEW problem in the last 30-45 days.
My Iphone takes over an hour and a half to complete the backup. It appears to be hung but is not.
I also just got off the phone with Apple Tech Support....yeah...that was a waste of time. Essentially, they told me that ALL the data on your iphone goes through the Itunes server across your active internet connection and the time can vary depending upon how busy the server is and how much data is on your Iphone.
Holly Crap!....who designed the architecture for this thing. I don't know about the rest of you, but I find this completely unacceptable. If this continues beyond September, I am switching to a Blackberry. When I connect my Iphone I don't expect to retire before the freakin thing finishes.
