  • Office 2013 SP1 update on client no longer allows connection to Office Telemetry Database

    I have just updated my machine with Office 2013 SP1 and have found that I can no longer connect to the Office Telemetry Database. It fails with a Database Connection Failure. The database needs to be updated.
    I can connect fine from the server locally so just wondering if someone can confirm that the telemetry server needs updated to SP1 before it will allow my machine to connect?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    We haven't heard such report after Office 2013 SP1 released. We will monitor on this problem and we will let you know if we found that the problem was caused by SP1. Meanwhile, we can try to uninstall SP1 to see if the problem persists.

    Here's a simple query which target the "Program and Features" (Add/Remove Program) of your computers.
    Do you get any results ?
    select B.Name0, B.AD_Site_Name0,B.Operating_System_Name_and0, A.DisplayName0
    from v_Add_Remove_Programs A inner join v_r_system B on B.ResourceID=a.ResourceID

  • Is ms office 2013 supported for report generation? Error 41106

    Hi
    I have a copy of LV full development suite with the Excel and Word report generation toolkit added.
    I have recently changed to using Office 365 that includes offline versions of Excel and Word from Office '13.
    When using the report generation toolkit, I get an error 41106.
    I have reinstalled the toolkit - no effect.
    I sort of assume therefore that office 2013 is not supported?
    Any hints, tips, patches or workarounds please.

    I've seen some issues when I upgraded to Office 2010. Note that it is possible that the route cause of your problem is totally different but in my case there was some ActiveX properties or Methods call that have been changed. I solved this issue by navigating to the property/method that caused the error, clicked on it and reselected the same property/method. You could probably find some older post that discuss that. Hope this help.

  • Crystal report 8.5 export to csv and rtf format not working with office 2013

    Hi Experts,
    Crystal report version 8.5 hangs and eventually crash when i export my report to csv or rtf format on windows 7 with office 2013 installed, code is written in VB 6 although the same scenario is working with office 2010 installed.
    i debugged the code and found the application hangs at function Report.Export(False).
    below is the code snippet
           .PDFExportAllPages = True 'ePDFExportAllPages
           .PDFFirstPageNumber = ePDFFirstPageNumber
           .PDFLastPageNumber = ePDFLastPageNumber
           .RTFExportAllPages = True 'eRTFExportAllPages
           .RTFFirstPageNumber = eRTFFirstPageNumber
           .RTFLastPageNumber = eRTFLastPageNumber
           .UseReportDateFormat = eUseReportDateFormat
           .UseReportNumberFormat = eUseReportNumberFormat
           .UseReportNumberFormat = eUseReportNumberFormat
           .XMLAllowMultipleFiles = eXMLAllowMultipleFiles
           .XMLFileName = eXMLFileName
           Report.Export (False) ----Application hangs here and eventually crash
    Looking forward for your help, as it is very urgent
    Regards

    Hi Mohit
    CR 8.5, being about 15 years old, does not support Windows 7. I am surprised this works for you with MS Office 2010 and to be honest, I'd consider my self lucky there. The fact that is does not work with office 2013... well, like I said, lucky with Office 2010 and your luck ran out with Office 2013.
    Your option; rewrite the app in VS 2010 / 2012 / 2013 and use the CR Assemblies for VS .NET from SAP Crystal Reports, Developer Version for Visual Studio .NET. The CR Java SDK would be another option.

    Merci d'avance

    Hi digital_badger,
    as you sure have seen in the link it is not officially supported by NI, which means to you one of the following things:
    1. You could upgrade your LabVIEW and your Report Gerneration Toolkit to Version 2014 and use MS Office 2013
    2. You could just try it with MS Office 2013 which might work but if it's not working you don't get any support from NI.
    Even if someone tried it already and it worked for him does not mean that it will work on your machines. It is possible that on some of your machines it could work but not on others. Their can be a lot of problems while playing around with unsupported setups.
    3. You could leave your setup as it is and stick to your MS Office 2010.
    I hope I could give you a good answer to your question

  • Office 2013 BUG report: undesirable components (and various hijacks) are installed against user's will and cannot be removed

    Installing Office 2013 Pro Plus RTM x64 on a fresh Windows 8 Pro WMC system.
    Used Custom setup procedure to install only the desired software, i.e. unchecking most of the checkboxes.
    After setup, a lot of undesirable software got nevertheless installed although it was specifically UNCHECKED at setup time, e.g. "Office Themes", "Microsoft SharePoint Foundation support", "Compare Diagnostics blahblah" + a bunch of outdated truetype
    fonts.
    No matter how many times we run again the "Change" setup from Windows' "Programs and Features" and uncheck these components, the setup routine does NOT uninstall them, with or without reboot etc. Basically, the Add/Remove function of the setup has NO EFFECT.
    The setup also installs (offering no choice or notice to the users) a lot of undesirable bloatware e.g. some "Office Upload Center", "Spreadsheet Compare" etc. and several tasks (Office 2013 Sync-something stuff) & services & explorer hijacks (a greyed-out
    "Skydrive Pro", what the...) AGAINST the user's will or consent.
    These unwanted apps and hijacks seemingly cannot be uninstalled, not even kept from running and reenabling itself - except if killing the tasks using the Task Manager, then deleting (!) the files from their respective folders, in addition to editing the
    registry to get rid of all this stuff. Of course the crap gets reinstalled/reenabled with any further launch of the office setup...
    Reminds me a lot of bad practices by malicious software. :|
    Office techs and engineers, PLEASE don't promise a customized setup option if it's for it to be snake oil... And don't offer a post-setup "Add/remove" or "Change" routine that has absolutely no effect whatsoever... And don't install unneeded/undesirable
    useless features as tasks and hijacks that cannot be killed or get rid of...
    Or at least please mention explicitely that you know better than users themselves, what they want and need and decide... :)
    As a sidenote, the same issues were present with Office 2010 Pro Plus SP1 - Sharepoint stuff and office themes and all that jazz was already installed even when deliberately left unchecked, and could never be uninstalled afterwards.

    Hi,
    First, I want to confirm with you that whether you install Office via MSI or Click to Run.
    Only volume-licensed versions of Click-to-Run installations can be customized using the Click-to-Run Admin Tool. Retail versions of Click-to-Run, however, do not support the use of the Admin
    Tool or provide any user interface based customizations to the product. These versions, for example, do not allow the user to choose what applications or features to not install or even the location of the installation files.
    If you used MSI installation, then check to see the steps in the link below:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/install-or-remove-individual-office-programs-and-components-HA010354261.aspx
    Note: We can’t remove Office programs individually after the suite has been installed. You must uninstall Office completely, and then reinstall it using a custom installation.
    Also, here’s a link about Office Customization Tool changes in Office 2010, the
    Office Customization Tool is part of the Setup program and is the primary tool that administrators use to customize an Office 2010 client installation:

  • Office 2013 (Mainly Outlook) Ribbon Menu Display Error

    So i have created a MDT System Image for deploying Windows across our Business we are currently using Windows 8.1 32/64Bit Office 2013 SP1 now i have recently updated the image simply to install the latest load of Windows Updates so we are not installing
    a load of updates when imaging a machine. a lot of our users are reporting issues in Office mainly Outlook but Word has the issue also, the Ribbon bar has Pixelated Display issues and one would have to close he application and re-open to resolve.
    Now i have uploaded two screenshots to my box account and shared the images below as you can see from the screenshots it looks to be a display issue but it is only the Office Applications that fall victim, once you change to something else it dissapears
    but this is happening a few times a day now. i have blanked out with black boxes the secure information from our relevant party's they are separate to the issue.
    https://app.box.com/s/fd1e8vw5gr7hbtxo42pb
    https://app.box.com/s/cyfsuad7uuml5uaq75az

    Hi,
    I would suggest you start Outlook in Safe Mode to determine if it's 3rd-party add-ins related:
    Press Win + R, type "outlook.exe /safe" in the blank box, press Enter.
    If there is no such problem in safe mode, disable suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this problem.
    Since you have mentioned that you also meet this problem in Word, I doubt if it's related to a setting in Office:
    In any Office application, such as Outlook, go to File -> Options -> Advanced -> Display -> Find "Disable hardware graphics acceleration", have you checked this box? If no, check it and click "OK" to save the setting.
    This option is added since Office 2013, and it's global, once it's set in an Office application, it applies to others as well.
    More information about hardware acceleration can be found in this article below:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/cc26ac52-5c94-468e-ac34-35c9dcc5b422/hardware-graphics-acceleration?forum=outlook
    We can also consider this:
    On the Desktop, right click on This PC(or Computer) icon, select
    Properties, then Advanced system settings on the left side, under
    Advanced tab, click on the Settings button for
    Performance.
    Now we see this:
    Uncheck the box for Animate controls and elements inside windows, click
    OK button.
    I hope the information can be helpful.

  • Office 2013 latest update broke new profile creation on all network computers

    Hi,
    Reporting a bug here!
    Setup details:
    We're using samba 3 as our backend and all workstation are Windows 7 Pro x64.
    Office 2013 Home and Business Retail (en-us) Click 2 Run version
    Context:
    Deployed to the whole network of one of our client using the Office Deployement Tool.
    We update their base update (no updates) to the latest update 15.0.4569.1508
    Everything was working alright after initial Office 2013 installation with no updates. After updating the all the PCs to the latest version as of 31/03/2014, the user profile creation broke for newly created user.
    Symptoms and causes:
    Trying to log on as a new user on the machine would give the following error on Logon before automatically loging off because it cannot copy the following file to the new user profile:
    D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_00.sqm
    D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_01.sqm
    D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_02.sqm
    The Bici folder has Read and Execute permissions for everyone but the _XX.sqm files inside only have permissions (Full Control) for SYSTEM and Administrators and LOCAL SERVICE with the all permissions EXCEPT:
    - FULL CONTROL
    - TRAVERSE FOLDERS/EXECUTE FILES
    - CHANGE PERMISSIONS
    - TAKE OWNERSHIP
    Solution:
    I gave "everyone" Read and Execute permission on those files and the new user could log in and his profile got created alright.
    The files with broken permissions time stamp shows they've been modified during the Office 2013 update and Bici seems to be a OneDrive related service. This bug should get fixed ASAP.
    Event log error:
    Windows cannot copy file \\?\D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_01.sqm to location \\?\D:\Users\TEMP\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_01.sqm. This error may be caused by network problems or insufficient security rights.

  • Office 2013: 10 Best Features You Should Know About

    The new Office 2013 has some key updates that, while aren’t quite as dramatic as theWindows 8 from Windows 7change, still have some pretty cool features for mobile and desktop.  Office 2013, will ship sometime next year at prices that have not been announced
    yet.  Check out the top 10 features:
    Going Mobile. Microsoft has geared the new software towards a more mobile-friendly audience, allowing users to interact more
    efficiently on mobile and tablets including finger and stylus controls that may help to spur Office’s migration to mobile devices. Another decidedly mobile move is Office Home and Student 2013 RT, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, will come
    with ARM-based Windows 8 devices including Microsoft Surface .
    In The Cloud. Microsoft’s SkyDrive cloud service is being positioned to play a key role in Office users’ daily computing
    lives. Office 2013 will save your documents to SkyDrive by default, enabling you to access files from multiple devices, including a smartphone and tablet. When you sign into Office from another device, your personalized settings and recently used files
    are already there for you. The new Office is available as a cloud-based subscription too. Office 365 is now also available for home-based users as well as businesses. Subscribers will get automatic upgrades, additional SkyDrive storage, multiple installs for
    several users, and added perks such as international calls via Skype.
    Finger and Stylus. Office 2013 embraces touch and pen input. The touch and stylus features are geared towards smartphones and
    tablets, as well as multi-touch laptops. The touch features are the same as users are accustomed to on their smartphones and tablets; swipe a finger across the screen to turn a page, pinch and zoom to read documents, and write with a finger or stylus.
    Metro Style. Office 2013 conforms to Microsoft’s “Metro” look that’s pervasive across the software developers latest mobile
    apps. The Office Ribbon in Word 2013 has a flatter look than its predecessor in Word 2010.
    PDF’s in Word. You can now edit PDF files in Word 2013 (yay!). Simply open a PDF as you would any other document. Word maintains
    the formatting of the file which is fully editable. You can insert pictures and videos from online sites such as YouTube and Facebook as well. And readers can watch video clips from inside your document.
    Excel. Excel offers some useful upgrades including new templates for budgets, calendars, forms, and reports. The new Quick
    Analysis Lens lets you convert data to a chart or table in a couple of steps. Flash Fill recognizes patters in your data and automatically fills cells accordingly. For example: if you want to separate first and last names into separate columns simply begin
    typing the first names in a new column, press Ctrl+E and Excel will copy the first names for you.
    PowerPoint Has Gained Power. PowerPoint 2013 now sports an updated Start screen with a variety of new themes and color schemes.
    The Presenter View now makes it easier to zoom in on a diagram, chart, or other detail that you want to emphasize to the audience. The Navigation Guide lets you switch slides, even move out of sequence, from a grid that you can see but your audience can’t.
    Presentations can be worked on from different PCs by colleagues to create a single presentation. Comments are allowed and presentations are saved online by default to SkyDrive.
    OneNote. OneNote automatically saves your notes to Skydrive, you don’t have to click “Save”, making your brainstorming sessions
    readily available across multiple devices. OneNote 2013 allows you to grab screens and add them to your notebooks.
    Skype Has Been Integrated. You can now integrate Skype contacts with Microsoft’s enterprise-oriented Lync communications platform
    for calling and instant messaging. Office subscribers get 60 minutes of Skype international calls each month.
    Going Social. Office now includes Yammer, a secure and private social network for businesses that Microsoft tentatively acquired.
    Yammer integrates with SharePoint and Microsoft Dynamics, the company’s line of CRM and enterprise resource planning apps. Office 2013′s People Card tool provides detailed information about your contacts, including their status updates from Facebook and LinkedIn.

    Awesome!
    Thanks for sharing the greate experience here. This is a good summary of Office 2013 cool features which is definitely useful for those who want to learn about the new Office.
    Thanks,

    Could you help me please?
    Thanks in advance
    For additional information, I of course share them with you.

    Hi,
    The description of error 1653 is that you could not perform a multiple-package transaction because rollback has been disabled. Multiple-Package Installations cannot run if rollback is disabled. Available beginning with Windows Installer version 4.5.
    According to error code 1653, I find a similar question about it. I address it here, you can follow Micrey’s suggestion to check if it works.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/f6501a3d-5c98-467b-9f48-3c6d20a454df/microsoft-office-professional-2013-encountered-an-error-during-setup?forum=officesetupdeploy
    “The issue when you hit a "1653" is that Windows Installer "DisableRollback" is set. Office 2013 requires that "rollback" be enabled. If you are getting a "1653" error in your logs as Ken did then the solution is to delete the "DisableRollback" (or set to
    '0') at the following registry keys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer”

  • Office 2013 and MS Server 2008 R2

    I see an increasingly number of people having trouble with office 2012 running on 2008 R2 RDS servers, but i still am yet to find any good solution from Microsoft themselves.
    We now have two customers with 2008 R2 RDS servers and Office 2013, where users are reporting that Outlook is slow when opening messages, typing messages, searching in the mailbox and sometimes everything also freezes for a few seconds if they are working
    with an Office application. Similar problems are also happening with Word and Excel.
    We have tried all the usual tweaks so far:
    Ajusting RDP-settings to 16-bit color and no animations.
    Disabling hardware acceleration for Office.
    Disabling animations reg-key.
    The servers are all virtual, running on vmware on some of the latest hardware from dell, so resource-wise there should be no problem. Increasing memory and CPU is not helping at all anyway.
    The customer we have that are running RDS on 2012 and 2012 R2 also had this problem, but adjusting the visual effects solved all problems for these. But not for those on 2008 R2.
    I am stuck at the moment, and the frustration is rising at my customers. Does anyone actually have anything that solved this problem for  them? Or do we actually have to roll back to Office 2010 (where we had no problems)?

    Hi,
    For Office 2013 there should not be any concerns since it is windows installer based and things will be handled automatically.  For the other software you could simply put the session in install mode in every case.  For the servers/workstations
    where install mode doesn't apply the change user /install and change user /execute will simply fail without any harmful effects.
    You may check whether or not the machine is a terminal server using WMI, for example:
    wmic /namespace:\\root\CIMV2\TerminalServices PATH Win32_TerminalServiceSetting Get TerminalServerMode
    0 = Remote Administration mode (not a RDSH/TS)
    1 = Application Server mode (aka RDSH/Terminal server)
    -TP
    When I run the command from the command line, it works, but when I try it in a "IF" statement, nothing happens.  I am I doing something wrong using the wmic code in the IF statement?

  • How to remove Office 2013 (Click to run) package?

    I am having problems removing Office 2013 sequenced using Click to Run and is published to the machine as per MS guidelines.
    It's a member of a connection group with another application.
    I have tried many things:
    get-appvclientpackage | stop-appvclientpackage | remove-appvclientpackage.
    get-appclientconnectiongroup | remove-appvclientconnectiongroup
    The connection group and both applications remain.
    Error reported is that the application is still in use (no idea which one as it doesnt say). Task manager doesn't seem to list anything running from any virtual environment. I have tried viewing 'processes from all users' also.
    I unpublished the connection group and the applications from the App-V Management Server, then retried the above commands which didnt work.
    Tried rebooting after doing all the above, then retry PoSH commands and that didnt work either.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    I check this issue in my environment, but cannot repro this issue.
    Please check the following path to click the right cpl file:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15\MLCFG32.CPL
    If that works, you need check this registry path to see if it points a right path to the .cpl file:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control Panel\Cpls
