XL Reporter Reports Generation needs to be read only

Dear Experts,
I want to know that when I make an report in XL reporter is it possible that whenever the report is generated it is READ ONLY so that the generated report cannot be changed or modified.
As in XL Reporter the reports generated gets transfered to Ms-Excel and it is possible to change the values or figures easily.
Is there any way to block this option of change.

You could try turning on data protection in the definition once it has been completed, then saving the sheet. I'm not sure if this would then stop it executing or not?
If this doesn't work, you could run a macro on execution on the report that protects the sheet before it saves.

Need to Assign read-only roles to a user in EP

I am currently facing a situation wherin I need to assign read-only roles to a user. I need to assign the user admin, system admin and content admin roles to him, but all with read only permissions. Could someone kindly direct me as to how this can be done in EP7.0?

first, welcome on SDN!
About your question:
Ganesh already showed the way for the PCD. Anyhow, the content admin also can accedd the KM content (if installed); so for KM the settings have to be done, too, i.e. defining only read-permissions for this user on all repositories.
The same holds for System-Admin - Permissions - Portal Permissions, here under the different sections only read access permissions would have to be set.
Anyhow, some areas cannot be restricted in this way, for example the User Management. This could be done only via http://yourserver/useradmin and there via ROLE actions (and not per user).
Still, some areas certainly will stay problematic, so that one maybe would have to strip down the standard roles (create a delta link copy of the content and then remove the problematic areas).

SQL Query (Updateable Report) conditionally set a column read-only with lov

Hi
I'm attempting to set a column that has a select list lov read-only if there is existing data in the column otherwise permit the end-user to enter a value using the select list.
I've looked at Re: A better method of handling tabular forms with variable column type? and using this code as an example it almost works, except the select list lov button is still active and therefore the data can be changed. How does one conditionally disable the select list lov button in Javascript?

In the JS code where you make the field readonly, add another line to hide the lov opener link ( in jQuery it would be *$('<selector>').hide()* ).
If you can provide the HTML code from your page for such a column (the JS code would depend on the template/theme), I can try helping.

Report generation toolkit excel, decimal?

Hello!
I have problem with the report generation toolkit excel!
I only gets 3 decimals in excel?
Ex. In labview = 0.0458943 when i send it to excel = 0.046.
I use Excel easy table.vi to transfer my array, should I use someting else?
Ive already tryid to increase the decimal in excel but i doesent work.

It sounds like you are writing a 2-D Array of doubles to excel. The Excel Easy Table.vi converts numerics to strings before writing data to excel. It is written to always use 3 decimal places. You need to convert your 2-D array of doubles to strings before writing the info to excel. Here are a couple of ways to make the conversion. The top method is based on how the Excel Easy Table.vi makes the conversion. Note that in both examples the format string constant sets the number of decimal places to 8.

I created a Custom list New Form and need to make the text fields read only

When I use SharePoint Designer and add the read only attribute to the SharePoint form field, then it throws a web part error.
but here is the thing, I have current user Filters populating the Form Fields. So the form fields populate First name , last name etc. and I need these fields read-only....
the Client doesn t want the end user to Change those fields. Is there any way to "LOCK" the form fields?
As I have only 7 text fields that need to be locked down. and one field is a signature line that is a true input field.. where the user has to inter their initials.
Any ideas? as I have tried most of the items available thru searches nothing works, or it throws that web part error message.

I used SharePoint Designer.
Steps:
created a web part page
then on the SharePoint Designer ribbon I then went to insert:
new item form
Then I selected my data source (list)
then I placed the 8 columns on the page
a page viewer web part to pull the manual that people have to read.
and 7 current user filter webparts. (1 for each form field) Yes it is over kill, but I'm trying to keep this straight out of box as much as possible...
then for the form fields
I added a parameter and the read only tag see below in bold:

the error message doesn't tell me much, it just send me to web part maintenance page...
if I removed the ReadOnly = True then the error goes away..... So I was trying to find a quick simple JQuery and or javascript code item that would make the 7 text fields readonly and leave the
8th text field alone to allow people to place their initials on the page to say that they read the manual.
I have created hundreds of these types of pages .. this is the first time I have run into this issue, but it also the first time I have tried to use the ReadOnly = True item.
Any Ideas and or thought on how to make the items read only? and not throw the error.

I have a form to raise the issue. once the issue is raised it appears in the issue raised reports( that is form on a report )
so all can view this report and click on issue no ..the form with details appear .
but i want to restrict it , by allowing only one up manager to view the form on a report in editable format rest all can just view it .

my approach is like this ...
a column called "checked shud be added to issue table , then its values must be set to "raised" when issue is submitted for the very first time..( so it is zero when the end user is submitting it ).
when ( the logged in user =1 up manager or checked!="raised") then
form fields to be displayed as edited
else
form fields need to be read only .

Nandini,
If you edit any item, you can see a section where you can specify "Read-Only" condition. Here you can write your read-only logic using SQL OR PL/SQL or predefined conditions.

Read-only root, initialising random seed fails

I have moved my HTPC installation to an SDHC card, with read-only root and /home and /var mounted to tmpfs. it boots up just fine, Xbmc runs like it's supposed to, but "Initialising random seed reports [FAILED]".
The bug report on things stopping a read-only root was recently closed, so I suppose it should all work (and it does). Is it something I need to worry about? I read that process is supposed to remove some left-overs as well, does it report failure because root is ro, or should I look elsewhere?

DFS-R hub server - which way to make read-only?

This is more of a technical clarification than a problem we're having...
Firstly, we have a bunch of file servers in various EMEA regions, which are set up to replicate back to a central hub server at our UK datacentre in order to take backups. These spoke servers are the only location where the data is changed.
We are in the middle of migrating the hub server over to Windows Server 2008R2, meaning we can use the supported one-way replication method instead of disabling one end of the member connections.
My question is this:
Which member do we need to make read-only? This would have seemed obvious to me, however there is some confusion amongst our systems engineers.
I would have said that you make the spoke member read-only, as you don't want the hub replicating anything back to it. This makes perfect sense to me, but not everyone is so sure.
Could someone please clarify?

I think it is what I want to achieve - many remote spoke/writeable downstream servers talking with one central/hub server so only this hub has the content of them all - but what do You mean saying "configure
your DFS targets ... such that the HubServerB is disabled"? Isn't it by making it read-only?

Well. There is a clear explanation that users cannot add or change files on read-only replicated folder but all three examples show remote servers as read-only while hub server is always writeable, isn't it?
RODC example is clear - for safety reason no user-made changes are allowed on remote DC but it gets changes from writeable (central/hub) DC/DC's.
Reports files generated and changed only on hub server - OK. But I can imagine an opposite situation where branch offices are responsible for producing and changing reports which are read-only in company's headquarter. Do the remote offices do it all on the
hub server? Then the reports are replicated to remote read-only member servers? What for?
But keeping installation files on remote servers is not understandable for me. I would rather keep them on central/hub server and propagate them to remote servers and make hub server read-only to prevent from backward replication.
I'm not a native English speaker so maybe I don't get the exact sense of this article. Somebody help me, please?

Read only list as an entity property

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere - I did search...
I have an entity representing a user. The user may be in zero or more roles. I have initially coded this as the User entity having a list of Role entities with a join table. However, I'm a little confused as to how this relationship should be managed properly. The Roles table will be populated elsewhere and, in this instance, needs to be read-only; so if a user is assigned a Role - I don't want that Role added to the Roles table, I simply want to reference an exisiting role using the join table.
Equally I want to only allow a User to be assigned a role which is inthe Roles table.
At the moment I'm thinking that I'll need to write the code to manage all of this manually in the get and setRoles() methods... Is that the best way - or is there a better way to achieve what I'm looking for?

Since they have to get the Role from a find operation, not sure how they would get one that does not exist, but depends on your application. If they create a new instance it would be persisted if they call persist() on it, otherwise depending on the cascade persist would cause an exception. If it were marked as read-only, they I think persist would also fail, or if it doesn't you could throw an error in the prePersist event.

E-Recruiting "Read-Only" Transactions

We would like to make some for the E-Recruiting functionality that is available to recruiters from the recruiter start page available to support staff in a "read-only" mode. Our immediate need is for read-only version of the Candidate Overview available from Application Management, although a read-only version of the Requisition Maintenance and Candidate Shortlist would be helpful as well. I have tried to create a read-only role for the Candiate Overview by playing with the standard authorization objects P_RCF_APPL, R_FCF_VIEW, P_RCF_POOL and P_RCF_STAT but have had no luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

This cannot be handled via authorizations in e-recruiting, because it is a non-exspected behaviour.
You can only realize this by development or modification.

Read only item populated by dynamic LOV

Since I'm using artificial keys in most of my table FKs, I need to use a lot of LOVs to provide the user with discernible data.
Many of the columns I use an LOV for I need to be read only items. However, whenever I use a dynamic LOV, I do not see how to make it read only. It sets the value of the item to [].
I know this can be accomplished in some cases with a join in the underlying query. However, many of the pages where I need to make this change are not based on a query.
Is there a way to make an item populated by an LOV read only while still retaining the value?

I'm using apex 3.2.1. Your testing and replies have helped me realize that the problem is that the column indeed did not have a value. When I had the item "display as" set to "select list" the LOV was also setup for allow NULL=NO. Thus, it was showing some value in the LOV in that item. But, when I switched to the "display as text" and set the always read only, then it gave the double brackets []. When I changed the allow NULL=YES, it worked fine and gave me a blank value.

Quick question: Does the Report Generation Toolkit (V1.1.3 for LV 8.6) need Microsoft Office installed in order to create Word documents?
I have a need to create reports, preferably in Word format, but the target machine may only have the Word reader installed, not Office.

May i get some idea about report generation api available. some report generation tools that can be downloadble. can you please suggest how to use scheduling the printers or report generation by scheduling.

Need help with report generation toolkit

I'm having a really hard time finding a solution for my problem. I'm measuring a distance and a diameter simultaneously. The outcoming values have a depency and are stored in a 2-D array. I want to export this array to an excel table and x-y-chart (distance is x and diameter y). So far I can export the data to a table, however the charts produced are useless. Can somebody please help me? I'm almost crying since I'm trying to find a solution for 3 days now.
Additionally, after one measurement is done, the user should have the possibility to do the next measurement, and the data has to be stored in the same excel file, in another worksheet. How can I do this?

If you want a nice graph in Excel based on your data you have input there, I would recommend creating a macro that builds your graph. Read more about macro, Excel and LabVIEW here. I don't have the Report Generation toolkit, but I think you can send macros with it too.
