XL Reporter Template Problem

Hi All,
Please help me for solving follwing problem.
I am unable to choose New XL Repot Template even though i was selecting use XL Template check box in the composer.
Thanks
Mahesh

Hi Mahesh,
Has the problem solved ?
Btw, What XL version do you use ? In 6.80.01.05, if you want to generate the report using excel template, you must put name and select generate report. Do not forget report view must not be empty. make sure if there is no another XL reporter already running.
If you still unable to solve it, try to contact LPE (local product experts) or SAP support.

• Problems with HTML in dynamic reports template after upgrade to 3.1

Hi, we just upgraded from APEX 2 to 3.1. W ehave an application that has a report template as follows:

&P1_FROM_ADDRESS.

&P1_REMIT_TO.

#BOX_BODY#
The item P1_REMIT_TO is set to an address using a PL/SQL computation. It has HTML tags such as and
in it. In 2.0 this displayed fine. In 3.1 it does not interpret the HTML tags, so it sshows up with the HTML tags in the text.
Any idea what may have changed and how to fix this?

Tor,
You're in Tampa huh? Are you a member of the SOUG?
Issues like browser alignment are always easiest to figure out with an example. Post an example app on apex.oracle.com and provide some developer credentials with which we can get in "under the hood".

• Report sharing problem - Help!

I have developed a CR XI report template linked to a Salesforce database. Runs fine. I sent a copy of the .rpt file to a colleague who is using the same version of CR XI (both copies are legal and registered). When she tries to open the .rpt file, she receives an error message saying that CR doesn't recognize the file format. We've tried several times. I sent her a blank non-SF .rpt file ... same problem. She sent me a blank non-SF linked template from her system. I can open it just fine, but if I make ANY changes and return it, she gets the same error message whether she's linked to SF or not.
Product Version: 11.5.8.826
What's the cause? We need to be able to share report templates smoothly and I assume that this is possible 'cause it appears to work in one direction.
Thanks,
Mark

Not sure if this will help you, but I had a similar issue and wanted to post my solution somewhere on these forums for others to reference.
My PC with iTunes has the my entire music library and I was trying to share it to my Mac Mini wirelessly, and couldn't get it to connect. The Mac could see the PC listed under the Shared section, but I would always get the error you received.
Here's what I did: I went to the Disk Utility (under /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility
I then clicked on my hard drive, and under First Aid, selected 'Verify Disk Permissions'. I noticed that a couple of files with the word iTunes in the name were not correct - I ran the 'Repair Disk Permissions', opened iTunes, and sharing worked immediately.
I hope someone else can benefit from this....

• Access to customizing default: report templates

I seem to remember far back in the corners of my memory, someone here on the forum mentioning that although we didn't have access at the time (probably back at HTMLDB 2.0) to customize the default report templates, that there were plans to make this an option in a future version of Apex. Does anyone have any idea if this is something that is being planned, or better yet, available today?
If you're not sure what I'm talking about I'm referring to the field that says 'Report Template' in the 'Layout and Pagination' section of the 'Report Attributes' page in the application builder.
The problem I'm having is that I'm using the 'default: vertical report, look 2 (show null columns)' report template and I've got some long column headings that I want to include a line break between each word of the heading, so they're stacked vertical instead of wide horizontally. I've add HTML break tags to the headings but they're disappearing when the page is rendered.
I've made sure to set the 'Strip HTML' setting to 'No', but whether it's set to yes or no doesn't matter, the headings display the same either way.
BTW, doing the same thing in a template based multi-row report seems to work fine. However, trying to use/apply the 'Value Attribute Pairs' report template yields the same result as the default vertical look template.
So I have 2 questions:
1) anyone know how I can make these heading words stack up vertically, one word to a line?
2) are we going to get access to customize the default report templates?
Earl

Hello,
1) anyone know how I can make these heading wordsstack up vertically, one word to a line?
Probably the best way to do this is to just hard code
a <br /> between your words.That's exactly what I'm doing (and what I said in my original post), however those breaks are disappearing during page rendering when I choose the report templates I mentioned.
I don't understand why this technique works in the multi-row report templates and not in these vertically oriented value/attribute report layouts.
2) are we going to get access to customize thedefault report templates?
No, you should just use a regular theme based
template, the default report templates are there for
backwards compatibility and well basically for people
that don't care about the UI. Since your at the point
it seems you do care about UI the proper thing to do
is to move to a standard report template that you
have full control over.Fair enough. I'll look into that, but I think there's still an open question here as to why the HTML breaks aren't being returned in the page markup for these report layouts.

• BI Publisher report bursting problem

I am not able to make my report burst to separate files for ftp delivery. I am running BI Publisher version 10.1.3.4.1 (stand-alone). My data query looks like this:
select a.agency_id, b.borr_name
from agency_tbl a, borr_tbl b
where a.rpt_date >= 20100101 and a.rpt_date <= 20100110
and a.borr_id = b.borr_id
and a.agency_id in (80013,80019)
order by a.agency_id, b.borr_name
My bursting/delivery query looks like this:
select agency_id "KEY",
'mytemplate' as TEMPLATE,
'RTF' TEMPLATE_FORMAT,
'en-US' LOCALE,
'PDF' OUTPUT_FORMAT,
'FTP' DEL_CHANNEL,
'myserver' PARAMETER1,
'myid' PARAMETER2,
'mypwd' PARAMETER3,
'/home1/web-docs-443/files/pdffiles' PARAMETER4,
convert(varchar,agency_id) || '.pdf' PARAMETER5
from agency_tbl
where agency_id in (80013,80019)
and rpt_date >= 20100101 and rpt_date <= 20100110
(I have to put "KEY" in quotes because my database is sybase, and KEY is a reserved word.)
I have verified that both queries return data (6 records each, no null agency_id keys).
The goal is to create a file for each agency that lists their associated borrowers.
I can view the report without problems. But when I schedule the report and enable bursting, I get the "Job was failed" email notification, and the report history shows this:

Any help will be greatly appreciated. This has me stumped . . . I am out of ideas.

What caused our bursting problem:
We had to put the word "KEY" in quotes (in our bursting query), because KEY is a reserved word in sybase. But putting it in quotes caused a problem - the results of the bursting query did not contain a "KEY" tag.
. . . And the solution:
We added the connection property "GET_COLUMN_LABEL_FOR_NAME=true" to our sybase datasource definition. Many thanks to Tim Dexter, and to Paul from the sybase forums (http://newsgroupstats.info/article/forums.sybase.com/sybase.public.jconnect/2308/Column-aliases-not-working.html) c. 2007.
And thanks again to Jorge for the helpful suggestion.

• Report Template does not save

HI,
I am creating a new report template. On save I get this error: Error occurred while saving the document template; save again. Although I save again, it does not save the layout. At this stage I don't check the symbols as I have not yet created any into the layout. Even though I say 'check', it does not save at all.
Can anyone help. I have checked the File locations for Template folder to be correct C:\....\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui\wwi
Am on GUI 7100.3.12
Patch 12
Any recommendations ? Thanks

Hello Sanjay,
It seems to be DMS configuration issue. May be your system is trying to store the template document to external database by using "kpro". Please check for following two configurations:
1. Go to Basic Data & Tools-->Report Definition >Settings for Document Management>Assign EHS doc type to DMS doc type Here for doc type "SBV" , Ty. should be "SBV" and Data Carrier should be "SAP System" if you are not specifying any external server for document storage.
2. Next, Go to Basic Data & Tools-->Report Definition >Settings for Document Management> Check Doc types and doc statuses. Go to the "Details" of doc type "SBV", and uncheck "kpro" if checked.
If you have configured external server for WWI docs, then you need to define different data carrier.
Please tell if it solves your problem, otherwise you may be probably having problem with your document status management.
In that case, you may like to refer following SAP notes in sequence.

• Report template auto-changed to Default: HTML

I use the builtin report template "Default: Look 4" for all of my report screens and have a problem when importing the application with a new Application ID.
All reports that use the "Default: Look 4" template get changed to "Default HTML" in the new application and I have to manually change them all back again. This is a real pain because I use the application ID as a form of version control - the old versions of the application are auto-forwarded to the new one - so I end up having to do the change quite often.
Is there a way I can prevent the template from changing?

If it's any help to you, I did a bit of 'vanilla' testing ...
- create a new workspace TEST
- Edit Page 1 of the Sample Application
- Note that the region "My Top Orders" is using layout "template: 12. Standard, Alternating Row Colors"
- export the Sample Application
- import the Sample App with Auto-Assign New App ID selected
- Edit Page 1 in the new application and note that the region template for "My Top Orders" is still set to "template: 12. Standard, Alternating Row Colors"
- Change the template for "My Top Orders" to "default: Look 4"
- Export application
- Import application with auto-assigned AppID
- Edit "My Top Orders" and note that template is changed to "default: HTML (standard)"
The template is only changed when the exported application uses one of the "default: Look X" templates, other templates are not changed. Also, importing into the same or different application makes no difference, the template is still changed.
Thanks for your quick reply so far Scott!

• Error opening a Manage Report template with Formulas and Summation

Hi Expert,
My j2ee web application is setup is such a way that when there is NO connectivity to the Crystal Report Server XI, it will use the Crystal Report for Eclipse functionality and opening report templates located in the relative path - This works fine.
But when there is a connectivity to the CMS Server, I have this error when opening a manage report in Crystal Report Server XI that contains formulas and summations. But for other reports like chart and listings no problem.
This code triggers the error:
ReportClientDocument clientDoc = reportAppFactory.openDocument(infoObject,0, java.util.Locale.US);
I found out there's a conflict between CR libraries for Eclipse and libraries for RAS Enterprise Server XI.
How can I solve this issue so that I can support the two scenarios - with or without CMS connectivity, I can still view reports.

You must isolate the CR4E and RAS SDK jars using separate classloaders - simplest is have separate apps, if rolling your own class loaders is out of project scope.
They do not work together.

• CS6 Bridge web gallery - HTML Gallery template problem

In CS6 Bridge, a web gallery created with the HTML Gallery template puts the images in a directory with a path of content\bin\images. This prevents the images from being served from IIS - the bin directory is by default a "Hidden segment". There is no need for the directory hierarchy generated to use the name "bin".
I know how to work around the issue, but it would be better if the issue was not present in the first place. I tried to report it as a problem on photoshop.com, but was unable to login.
How do I report this problem to Adobe?

(Me again, my previous Adobe ID broke). We don't have Dreamweaver, and the users who create and upload web galleries would not be able to use such tools (or a text editor which works on several files at the same time). My workaround is to have a directory dedicated to their web galleries using a web.config file of

<configuration>
<system.webServer>
<security>
<requestFiltering>
<hiddenSegments>
<remove segment="bin" />
</hiddenSegments>
</requestFiltering>
</security>
</system.webServer>
</configuration>
So that the HTML web galleries' "bin" sub-directories are accessible.

Note that the #ALIGNMENT# substitution string is not supported in named column templates. Set column alignment explicitly using HTML attributes in the template, or use CSS.

{code}Where do you see this? It looks like there's a mismatch between the report columns returned by the query and those referenced in the report template. Or the data contains unsafe HTML characters that aren't being escaped.
Yes, my report query has a column called ID and it's set as Hidden. This could be the problem. In a report based on a named column template any columns referenced in the template must be +shown+ in the report, even if (as in this case) the column value is not visible to the user: the positioning of the #ID# column placeholder in the onclick attribute rather than in a table cell is what makes it "hidden". *The Show checkbox for the ID column must be checked.*
From the gobbledygook being generated it looks like there could be a row selector checkbox column in this report as well? Named column row templates must include substitution placeholders for every shown column. It's also advisable to keep the columns in the same order in the SQL, report column attributes and row template.
Something like
{code}
<tr onclick="redirect('f?p=&APP_ID.:6:&SESSION.:::6:P6_NAS:#ID#');">

#CHECK$01#

#NAME#

#BIRTH#

{code}
I realized that problem is caused by #ID# because if I hardcode this ID, it works.
How can my report template get the “ID” from my query report ?If the above doesn't help then the easiest way to troubleshoot this would be for you to upload the app to apex.oracle.com and post guest developer credentials for the workspace so we can see the whole thing: template, SQL, and report attributes. Otherwise we're likely to and up with a lot of tedious to and fro here posting bits of code and attribute values.

• Custom Report Template Issue

Hi,
I have a Custom Report Template, it is a Named Column(Row) Report that I have created. It seems I can get the look and feel I want on a per row basis. But when I try and convert it to be able to loop through for a specific type, like a break on the first column, it gets all messed up. Thanks for the input! Yeah it is based on a query from a collection as all this data is summations that i am pre-populating.
Yes this html is probably from 1998 or 1999 I think they told me actually lol
So there is no way to accomplish what I am trying to do then?
There is no way I could use a break on first column and modify the header info to get the same sort of look and feel?Still not really clear what you are trying to accomplish, and in my view there are so many problems with the "look and feel" that it's not worth perpetuating.
Making a lot of assumptions, I've come up with the kind of HTML structure I'd use when marking up this kind of data. I added a page 2 to your example on apex.oracle.com, showing a basic presentation of this structure alongside the original for comparison, and another styled using the default theme L&F.

Given the requirement to use multi-level headers (and because I prefer to have total control over the HTML), I stayed with a custom report template rather than trying to utilise column breaking with a generic column report template. This also permits use of more advanced table structures than can be supported by standard templates, such as scolgroups to organize the table columns as well as the rows:
Before Rows
<table cellpadding="0" border="0" cellspacing="0" summary="" #REPORT_ATTRIBUTES# id="report_#REGION_STATIC_ID#">
#TOP_PAGINATION#

Some fishy summaries

<colgroup span="1"></colgroup>
<colgroup span="4" class="evaluation-trips" align="right"></colgroup>
<colgroup span="4" class="other-trips" align="right"></colgroup>
After Rows

#PAGINATION#

Rather than separate tables, the report is contained in one HTML table, utilizing the tbody element to subdivide this into separate row groups to meet the "break on first column" requirement. This is achieved using conditional row templates, with PL/SQL Expressions based on the values of metadata columns added to the query:
Row Template 1
Header rows and first data row for each row group. scope attributes are added to multi-column headers for improved accessibility:

#C1#

Evaluation Trips

All Other Trips

#C16#

#CLOSE_ROW_GROUP#
Row Template 1 Expression
This template is used when the row metadata shows that the current row is in a different row group from the previous row:
#ROW_GROUP# != #PREVIOUS_ROW_GROUP#
Row Template 2
This is the "default" template, used for any subsequent data rows in the row group:

#C8#

#C9#

#C10#

#C11#

#C12#

#C13#

#C14#

#C15#

#C16#

#CLOSE_ROW_GROUP#Both templates make use of a #CLOSE_ROW_GROUP# column value conditionally generated in the query that returns a </tbody> tag if the current row is the last data row in the row group. (Mixing logic and structure in this way is not good practice, but APEX only allows up to 4 conditional row templates, which is completely insufficient for any moderately complex structure.)

border-bottom: 1px solid #fff;
border-left: 1px solid #fff;
background-color: #275096;
color: #fff;
font-weight: 300;
text-align: left;
.fish td {
text-align: right;
.fish tr.\30  td {
background-color: #dde;
.fish td:first-child {
text-align: left;
The default theme L&F report adds vertical borders to separate columns and column groups (latter may not be fully effective on IE: I'm not wasting my time on quirks mode fixes for that).
The resulting report uses 60% less vertical space, and 87% less HTML code[1] than the original. Usability and accessibility are improved by eliminating nested tables and useless table cells and shim images, increasing the contrast between text and background colours, and using alternating row backgrounds for better visual tracking.
[1] Including whitespace, but neither template is compressed in any way: both are in fully readale format including normal whitespace indentation.

• Custom report template and URL links

Hello,
I have been working on this problem for some-time and it's starting to get frustrating. I am trying to 'mimic' the functionality of the 'people search' application and I am working on the hierarchy portion of it (page 3).
I copied the (3) custom report templates (one for each level of the hierarchy) and I created three queries to go to each.
My problem is that the links in the report template code keep getting mixed around -- the mgr_id is showing where the mgr_name should be, etc. In the example application the query has about 6 columns, and the template is only showing three (and the order of them in the report attributes doesn't seem to matter. But when I change the column order in my application, the data in the template changes??
Here is an example query:
select MGR_NAME, work_role,
nvl(total_direct,0) Directs, nvl(total_reports,0) Reports
from hr_orgchart_view
where
emp_id = :p3_emp_id
And the matching report template:

<td align="center"class="instructiontext">
#MGR_NAME#

#WORK_ROLE#

Directs: #DIRECTS#   Total: #REPORTS#

Since the column name is being referenced as the link text, column order should not matter right?
Please shed some light on this situation, as I am holding up development. I am using version 1.6
Thanks,
Jeff

Sorry, the code was messed up in previous post:
Template:

<td align="center"class="instructiontext">
#MGR_NAME#

#WORK_ROLE#

Directs: #DIRECTS#   Total: #REPORTS#

• Report template - How to reference COLNUM in the col template condition?

Hi,
I have a query with 4 columns. based on this query I would like to make a report with a row layout that looks something like this:
| column1 value |
| column2 value | column3 value | column4 value |
I created a report template, four column templates: one for column 1, one for the following columns and one for the las column of the report.
My problem is that when I reference *#COLNUM#* like mod(#COLNUM#,4) = 1 in the Column Template condition fields, then I get *'ORA-06550: line 1, column 34: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "#" when expecting one of the following: ( ) - +....'*
Is referencing COLNUM not allowed in the Column Template Condition field?

I created a report template, four column templates: one for column 1, one for the following columns and one for the las column of the report.For this you need to create a Named Column (row template), not Generic Columns (column template).
Before Rows

Row Template 1

#1#

#2#

#3#

#4#

After Rows

No conditions.
What about table headers?
My problem is that when I reference *#COLNUM#* like mod(#COLNUM#,4) = 1 in the Column Template condition fields, then I get *'ORA-06550: line 1, column 34: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "#" when expecting one of the following: ( ) - +....'*
Is referencing COLNUM not allowed in the Column Template Condition field?I suspect not. Only #ROWNUM# is mentioned in the online help for Column/Row Template Expressions. #COLNUM# is only indicated in the Column/Row Templates themselves.
(Always post sample layouts using \...\ and/or {noformat }...{noformat } tags to preserve formatting/stop Jive from turning it into something else.)
