XLR Expansion Error

Hello, I recently upgraded from SAP2005A to SAP2007 (patch 37) and now some XL Reporter reports are getting an error. the message is "Error in Expansion". This is due to the only UDF on the reports, an Alpha 10 character, document rows field. If I remove the cell the reports work. The problem is I can't figure out what is wrong with the UDF now. In SQL management studio the field in the table looks totally unchanged. Has anyone encountered this issue? I see similar postings, but nothing quite fits.

Depending on the report that you are getting the error on ... there is an SAP Note that does discuss this error and what the cause could be. My suggestion is that you review SAP Note 1072702 on the SAP PartnerEdge Portal (if you are an SAP Partner) to see if this helps with the error that you are getting. While it may or may not be exact ... it may give you insight on what your issue may be.
If you still run into issues, you should open a message with SAP Technical Support.

XL Reporter Expansion Error..

Hi Guys,
I have recently 8.81 (PL 8) and the XL Reporter is giving an error saying
" An error occured while Executing Report!
Description: Error in Expansion
When the error box is pressed OK.. the Excel worksheet opens but without any proper Data..

If your report has User Defined fields included, you may need to remove & readd then using the XLR UDF management to refresh the databse values

Group expansion error

there seems to be a group expansion issue for the users moved from OCS to Lync. the OCS users are unaffected ! The error is as follows.

Row expansion error

I am getting this error while doing a drill-down, can someone help?

Hi,
Do you get the same error during expanding your EVDRE template?
The error says that there is a conflict between the expansion options and the rowkeyrange. Please check the definitions properly.

Expansion error in Format Range

I have a EVDRE Input schedule (not from dynamic template). I added a format range, but the EVDRE is giving an error "FormatRange must have minimum of 3 columns in range". There are more than 3 columns. Not sure why is this error.

Hi,
Please check the Range you have specified in the Format Range Option of the EVDRE.
The Format Range should include the set of cells which has these columns,
"Criteria" "EvaluateIN" "Format" "Use" "Parameters" "ApplyTo"
So there should be 6 columns for the Format Range and values for these columns can be updated according to the requirement.

4.0.0 temporary error returned by alias expansion (commadmin)?

I've installed java_es_05Q4_uwc-ga-solaris-sparc.zip (messaging, calendar, directory server). I'm running into the alias expansion error denoted in the subject.
The following forum link contains a suggestion from Jay to use commadmin to create the messaging users/accounts.

When i checked the parameter file i can see the value assigned to the $DBConnection_OLAP. The same tasks ran successfully when i ran the ETL process for Complete 11.5.10 for the first time. I did not change anything after that and also all these are came built-in with the installation of Oracle BI Applications.
Please anyone give me an idea what is causing the problem.

Open Status Description, look for string -lpf, the file after it is the actual parameter file DAC send to INFA server. E.g
-lpf D:\DACTOPUS\Informatica\parameters\SDE_ORAR12_Adaptor.SDE_ORA_Product_Category_Temporary.txt
Open the parameter file, most likely the [session_name] does not match with SDE_ORA_Product_Category_Derive_Full or some parameters are missing.

XLR sample - sales report by item by sales rep

Hi all,
I am using the above report at client site and its working great.
The cust now has a requirement to modify this and include a column that looks at same period -12mths.
I can easily do that by -
- duplicating the existing columns
- applying period parameter to columns and not the report default
- and changing the parameter to be @per-12.
This doesnt seem to work however as the parameter is an expression which means I can select a range of periods. XLR gives error:
Definition parsing failed: syntax error near @per-12.
It only seems to work when I have the parameter as a dimension so that only 1 period can be selected.
Can XLR do the calculation for the range of periods -12 mths?
My client wants to create a quarterly report so selecting 1 period is not going to be sufficient.
I hope what I have explained is clear.

There is a detailed syntax explaination document in portal> Docment Resource Center, you can download it and check.
There also the explaination regarding @period-12
For multiple selection, you can use Selection icon(next to the Expand icon) for columns to show more columns for different period.

DRG-51030: wildcard query expansion after using @

The following query returns one row:
select * from userinterface where contains (searchtx, 'Mustermann within name and %gmx.de within email')>0;
returns one row.
If I add @ (=> %@gmx.de within email) the following error occurs:

Is the character @ a special character causing the wildcard query expansion? "@gmx.de" is more restictive compared to "gmx.de" (Oracle 10.2.0.4)

is also working and returns three rows.

Like Roger said, you could include the @ in your printjoins attribute of your basic_lexer and use a substring_index, then that might allow you to search for '%@gmx.de' and find '[email protected]' without encountering the wildcard expansion error. Increasing the wildcard_maxterms would also make the error less likely. However, I believe that is using Oracle Text in a manner other than it is intended and will cause more problems than it will solve, like increasing the size of your domain index tables by storing substrings and making your searches slower.
If you just leave things the way they are, then @ and . are treated as spaces and '[email protected]' is seen as 'somebody gmx de' and indexed as three separate words, so searching for '@gmx.de' will search for 'gmx de' and will find it, so there is no need for a leading wildcard. If you want to avoid problems with errors due to users entering unnecessary leading wildcards with such special characters, then you can replace them in the string before searching. I usually find it convenient to create a cleanup function and include any such problems, then include that in my code that uses a bind variable for the search string. Please see the example below.

Interesting problem with RAID, Windows 2008 server, and Ubuntu

sooooo, i got the system working and linux loved it. just adored it.
however, Windows did not. Windwos 2008 server hard locks from time to time. i fianlly figured out that it had to do with the RAID 0 i was running, that didn't really succeed.
However, when i rebuilt the RAID and everything on it, it refuses to recognize the disk, sayign that windwos cannot determine if this drive has a valid system volume on it.
Ubuntu 9.04 server, however, just took it and made it work great.
I enabled the PCI Bus SATA to be Master in the BIOS, and then Windows Server 2008 said that it could not determine if the drive was bootable. Then i went back and redid the raid, and it did the original error.
I inserted a windows xp disk, destroyed the RAID, and then installed the software on a NEW disk. While it installed fine, it gave me an IRQL_not_less_than_or_equal error. It boots in safe mode, but no where else. I tried installing the NVRAID and MCP55 drivers in safemode and what not, but still, it refused to cooperate. I went back to ubuntu, this time the desktop/workstation versions, and i am doing an alternate install with RAID...much to my disappointment becuase now i will have to use VirtualBox to isntall windows...and if that fails, i'll be really pissed.
My settings are as follows:
SATA Controller 0-5 enabled
NVRAID- enabled
PCI BUS SATA- Option ROM Enabled, Master Enabled, and 0040h latency
MAC LAN- same as above
MAC LAN1- has master disabled, but the other stuff is the same
Serial port A is on AUTO, B is disabled, and floppy is disabled.
Option Rom is PFA relocation.
Also, my AEC A6880 is giving me a ROM expansion error, even though, in both OSes it can be seen....usualy. I just want to fix it
lastly, my LSI PCI-E scsi adapter is not being seen at ALL.

Turn off onboard raid ctrl 1st. There are conflicting.

I inserted a windows xp disk, destroyed the RAID, and then installed the software on a NEW disk. While it installed fine, it gave me an IRQL_not_less_than_or_equal error. It boots in safe mode, but no where else. I tried installing the NVRAID and MCP55 drivers in safemode and what not, but still, it refused to cooperate.
What's the BSOD error? Are you using XP installation disk with included SP3?

I am new to Business Intelligence Applications and keen on learning it.
I know Informatica and OBIEE(Not a very experienced person).
I have installed BIA on my local windows machine.
I am using Oracle Apps as the source.
In the execute tab I selected the HR-Oracle 11510 execution plan and ran it but it failed.
The workflow error log says the following:

$DBConnection_OLTP is not well define - OBIE Applicatn 7.9.6 / DAC 10.1.3.4

In new version of DAC, once you setup the Physical Data Sources then while setting the Parameters for Execution PLan, there is a drop down list which gives all the available Physical Data Source. You cannot mistype it.
The Physical Data Sources have been setup and the Test Connection gives me Successful message but when i run the DAC Tasks, i get following error: $DBConnection_OLTP is not well defined. If you see the log below, the variable for $DBConnection_OLTP is properly assigned to PSFT_8_9_FINSCM.

You are correct.... I was able to run the DAC processes successfully with the old application.... 7.9.5.
I guess bad timing hit me bad. I just had loaded the older version and was about to continue... Then the new version came in which supported the latest PeopleSoft version and had Budgets and Projects module in it.
Now when i uninstalled and re-installed, i hit another problem where something went wrong with Informatica.... I had Key recognition issue.... So i reformatted my laptop all over and started from Fresh.... I was able to load everything and everything was smooth until i hit this other problem now....
I surely have an option to go back to old version but then i loose some of the new functionality.... So before i am compelled to go there, i want to give this a try as best as possible.
Will Oralce Support the SR in Oracle Metalink if we have not purchased the Application? My client has only purchased the OBIE Enterprise Suite.... But i am playing with this Application to get an understanding of this product.

If you have some other criteria to put before the "not mango", that would work. With a small number of rows, "% not mango" works. However, with a large number of rows with various data, like most such tables have, "% not mango" is likely to result in a wildcard query expansion error. Some alternatives are to use "contains (...) = 0" or " not (contains ...) > 0". These will still use the domain index, but avoid the problem with the wildcard expanding to too many terms. Please see the demonstration below.
