.xlsb ?!?!

Why is it mail (or a webmail attachment) will allow you to open an excel attachment with the file extensions .xls or .xlsx but won't let you open an .xlsb ?
Is there an app you can download for the iPad or iPhone 4 which will let you view these file types easily?

xlsb is the file extension for an Excel binary file. I doubt there is any app that will open it, and frankly you probably don't want to.
Best option is to open it on a machine with a full version of Excel and convert it down to xls or xlsx.

  • Error: EXOpenExport() while converting xlsb file to PDF

I am getting this error while converting .XLSB file to PDF using IBR :Step PDFExport forced conversion failure by conversion engine because of error: EXOpenExport() failed: no filter available for this file type (0x0004). Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you for all your intrest.
The error message I get is... "an unexpected error occured. PDFMaker was unable to process the request".
When I then try to convert again, the system opens the ppt, but then does not do anything, and the error message does not show, for all presentations I try to convert.
I have also tried using the ribbon, but the button does not do anything once I have clicked.
I can print to PDF, but this provides an output which is not suitable, because it shows as if it each slide was printed on to paper and then put in PDF.
I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat to make sure nothing was corrupt.

In that huge folder I only need the .xlsb files opened and saved to .xlsx not the others, in case that wasn't clear above.

  • Error in IBR while converting xlsb to pdf

I would suggest you contact Oracle support about this. I don't think I have seen this extension / file format on the supported formats list. So your options are:
    - don't convert it
    - don't submit xlsb, but xlsx instead
    - hope for oracle support (and development?) to help you find a solution

  • Is there any way to open an .xlsb file in numbers?

Our ad department has recently upgraded their windows PCs, and it seems the new default for Excel to save is .xlsb (excel binary workbook). Is there any way to open this in Numbers, or is my only answer to go over to them again and again, to get them to resave in .xls or .xlsx?

Ask them to resave as .xls
If they are polite enough, I'm quite sure that they may change their default format to .xls.

  • Why doesn't Personal.xlsb start when opening a different SS

    I have my personal.xlsb installed in the following folder;
    C:\Users\Toni Chaffin\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
Why when I open a already completed WorkBook, say stats.xlsm why doesn't my personal workbook open so I can run macros that I have saved in there
    Thanks
    Toni Chaffin aka Talisa

I am experiencing the same exact issue. Running Office 2010 and whenever I open an xlsm file by double clicking on it in Windows Explorer, it opens in Excel but the macros do not open. If I open the VBA editor, only the current document is shown in there
    and not the macros.
Opening Excel first and then dragging the spreadsheet file from Windows Explorer into Excel does work, and while the answers here are workarounds, they are far from solutions and are a very cumbersome workaround when dealing with multiple files.
Can anyone help with a proper solution to the issue? I've tried adding my XLSTART folder to the "At startup, open all files in:" setting in the Advanced options menu, and that has done nothing.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • SSRS's Mail subscription file format as XLSB

    Dear All,
I have a SSRS report, which execute hourly basis and send data in excel as an email attachment. I would like to attacheded excel file in .XLSB format. Please help.
    Virendra Yaduvanshi http://wikidba.wordpress.com/

    Hi Virendra,
According to your description, there is a report you configured subscription, it executes hourly and send data as an email attachment as excel. You want to render the report into excel with .xlsb format.
In Reporting Services, the Excel rendering extension can render the .rdl file into Excel with .xls or .xlsx (SQL Server 2012). Currently it not support to render report as .xlsb.
Personally, I recommend you that submit the wish at
https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/. If the requirement mentioned by customers for many times, the product team may consider to add this feature in the next SQL Server version. Your feedback is valuable for us to improve our products and increase the
    level of service provided
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

  • My Excel 2011 will not open an .xlsb file, how do I open the file?

I have a working document that I need to access, but my version of Excel will not open the file. It states that there's an issue with the file, and some of the spreadsheet isn't supported "-slicer". Do I need to upgrade my Excel version, is there a patch? I need some direction.
    thank you.

xlsb files are binary Excel worksheets, and many have problems with them. Make sure your version of Office 2011 is up to date. If that doesn't help, try reinstalling Office.

  • I need applescript to change all files in a folder and its subfolders ending in .xlsx changed to .xlsb

I need applescript to change all files in a folder and its subfolders ending in .xlsx changed to .xlsb

    try something like this:
    with timeout of 3600 seconds
-- long timeout to because the Finder is horribly slow
              tell application "Finder"
-- collects the files from a folder called "whatever" in your user home folder
set xlsbFiles to every file of entire contents of folder "Whatever" of home whose name extension is "xlsb"
                        repeat with thisFile in xlsbFiles
set name extension of thisFile to "xlsx"
                        end repeat
              end tell
    end timeout
you could make a more efficient script using System Events.app, but this will get the job done with a minimum of thought.

  • Export to xlsx or xlsb

    Hi there,
Can we extract data to excel xlsx or xlsb (ECC 6), is there a specific setting to do it or SAP have not sorted out this question yet?
    Thanks

    From the thread
    Re: Export to Excel Hangs
For exporting large tables to Microsoft Excel files:
    - If you encounter problems, try adding the following line to the sqldeveloper.conf file to increase heap size and then restarting SQL Developer: AddVMOption -Xmx1024M
    - If the number of table rows exceeds 65,536, SQL Developer writes the rows to multiple worksheets within the .xls file
But as an end-user, it's usually a losing battle trying to fight these virtual memory limit cases. Exporting to the csv file format also works fine, and Excel operates on those perfectly well. Just open it in Excel, then re-save it in xls format if you prefer.
Shutdown SQL Developer. Go to the bin directory in your SQL Developer installation. There you'll find the sqldeveloper.conf file. Add the line listed above. Restart SQL Developer and try again.
Again, we're actively investigating optimization solutions for our Excel exports (and imports.)

  • Does the current SSRS version supports the xlsb excel file extension?

I've found answers that the SSRS doesn't support the xlsb file type but it was way back 2013:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/sqlserver/en-US/94c57862-281e-480a-b442-c2e907778bd8/ssrs-excel-render-and-save-as-excel-binary-xlsb
Does the current version (Reporting Services 2012) of Reporting Services already support this kind of file? Where can I see the list of file type that the Reporting Services is supporting?

    Hi zoldyk15,
In Reporting Services 2012, it doesn’t support .xlsb render. For your requirement, you could provide Microsoft a feature request at
https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer so that we can try to modify and expand the product features based on your needs.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

It's recommended to download and install
Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office
