XMII 12 help file location and virtual connections

Hi.
I have just installed xMII version 12 It took me 20 days the first time, but now it is easy.
Two questions. When trying to activate help, it opens a link like...
http://wbhelp.sap.com/manufacturing/xmii_120/da/44/2AF20B1DDE23D3E10000000A1553F7/content.htm
How to fix this ??
Is it possible to make virtual connections to xMII version 11.5 ??
BR.
Poul Klemmensen.

Hi Poul.
What language of the help are you trying to access?  I see "/da/" in the middle of your help URL, but if you're trying to access the German version of the help, it should be "/de/".
For now, you can manually replace the "da" with "de" for German or "en" for English, and you should be able to see the help topic without error.

Audrey

  • Need iPhoto '11 help (file location and duplicates)

I recently upgraded to Lion and am having problems in iPhoto that I've never had before.
1:  Where is the actual photo file?  The photos successfully load into iPhoto but they do NOT appear in my hard drive in my "Pictures" file.  When I try to attach them to an email, a "Media" section opens and I can attach from iPhoto that way but I'm not seeing the actual photo file.  I don't want to delete photos from my camera without being positive that the file is on my computer.
2:  Duplicates!  Holy duplicates!  The first time I did an upload in iPhoto it uploaded everything in triplet.  The second time I did an upload, it attempted to upload in double but I selected only one of each.  How do I get it to not do this at all?  Why would I want duplicate photos in the first place?

    1. How the files are stored has nothing to do with the OS you're on. Obviously, the last version of iPhoto you had was v6 or earlier.
Since iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is a Package File. This is simply a folder that looks like a file in the Finder. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
    Want to look inside?
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
    Standard Warning:
Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things,, deleting them or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Network locations and Airport connection

I've just installed Leopard on my MacBook Pro (late 2008) and did all the software updates (including AirPort Extreme Update 2008-004 which - as I found out too late - seems to cause a lot of problems).
Network System Preferences show funny beaviour: Every time I try to switch off AirPort connection for a new network location the network location will disappear completely and settings will switch back to the last active network location. So it is impossible to create a network location with AirPort inactive.
Apart from that, my System does not connect to my AirPort Base Station (Dual Ethernet, 802.11b) wireless LAN (not public, WEP-encrypted, MAC address filter). My other Macs (OS X 10.4 Tiger) connect to the AirPort wireless LAN without any problems. (I double-checked all the settings of course.)
Has anybody had similar problems? Thanks for your help.

I then turn off airport and turn it on. eventually I am back and running just fine but do not go to sleep or close the machine cheers

  • File location and name

If I use iPhoto to import files from my camera where are the files actually stored and how do I change the actual file name? I have figured out how to change the picture title but it does not change the file name.
If I use iPhoto to import pictures from the hard drive do they get copied to the iPhoto file location or just linked? When I moved to the mac I created a folder named "old laptop stuff" and moved everything to that folder. I am now trying to organize all of this stuff on the mac. Can I delete the picture files from the old laptop stuff folder after using iphoto to import and organize them?

    Hi Dispatcher,
Where are the files stored? Take a look at the screenshot.
iPhoto 6 Library folder in the Finder
As you can see the structure is now related to rolls. Rolls are created for each folder you import and each import session from a camera.
It is very easy to change the names of film rolls within iPhoto to make them easier to find images within. Open the info panel in iPhoto by clicking on the "i" icon. Once it is opened, click on the roll title in the viewing window.
Click on the word "title" in the info pane and type in your new title. I like to use a date and text format such as 12/25/05 Christmas at Mom's, 1/05/06 my birthday, etc. Once the roll names are changed within iPhoto, they are also changed within the Finder, making it easy to locate an image.
When importing from a camera, make sure you name the roll with a date and text before the import.
You can add titles in iPhoto, but as you found out only iPhoto sees these new titles. To do what you want you have to name the photos before importing into iPhoto. Either download to the computer with your camera software or use Image Capture (found in your Applications folder) to download the photos.
Launch Image Capture (keep the little window open that says no camera is connected or IC will quit if you close the window)
Go to Image Captures preferences and choose what you want to happen when a camera is connected.
Next time a camera is connected, if you chose Image Capture to open, then IC will open and download the photos.
Rename your photos then import them into the library
You can choose to do it either way when you first use iPhoto (this is new in version 6)
If you choose to copy into the library when importing, then the photos are copied into the library (iPhoto Library folder in the Finder)
After you have imported all those folders of images, you can then delete the folder.

  • Lightroom 3 offline help file location?

I'm sure this has been answered 2 million times already in this forum but various searches ("offline lightroom help file") don't get me very far (I have found the URL for 2.0 though...). Checked the Lightroom FAQ and release notes too.
Any pointer will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
(shame on Adobe for making it so hard to find something so essential - what about a direct link to download this from the help menu?)

Top right corner of linked page http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Lightroom/3.0/Using/index.html Click on pdf symbol to download.
It's also worth noting that when connected to internet above is the page you get taken to when you click Lightroom Help in the application Help menu or hit F1

  • Essbase Visual Basic API - Help File locations

    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can help. Normally on XP Office 2003 I can get the VBA help via Help->Essbase Help. However I'm on Vista Office 2007 and when I goto the Add Ins->Essbase Help, I get an error that states:
Why can't I get Help from this program?
The Help for this program was created in Windows Help format, which was used in previous versions of Windows and it is not supported in Windows Vista.
For more information, see Windows Help program (WinHlp32.exe) is no longer included with Windows on the Microsoft support website.
So I need another way to access these help files.. Is there another way to do this??????
    Thanks,

loading data from the VB api uses the import function. Look at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_esb_api/topapilist.htm for the system 9 version of the documentation. The document gives you samples for different functions you will need. from initialization, login, import, logout and termination

  • Help with locating and moving archives

Hi all, not sure where to post this but here goes.
We are currently planning to centralize all archives to one server as they are quite disparate at the moment. I have a program that finds the locations of the archives from groupwise but the issue is some are on the network and some are on the local drives. Of course d:\archives means nothing to most people as the pc name is required to locate. Is there a program that can automate the location and relocation of archives??? Id hate to have to locate over 300 archives manually
    Thanks

You could write one, but realize it wouldn't work well for 2 reasons.
    1. It would have to run while the user was logged on, on their
workstation or it might not have rights to the right mapped drive.
    2. Consolidation is not always wise. In fact it is a recipe for DISASTER
if you are not careful. You must create a structure like this
    BASE\PO\<archive>
in short, a base directory, followed by a subdirectory PER po.
Why? Remember the archive stores stuff by FID, not GUID. FIDs are OnLY
unique per PO, and clash fairly often in practice otherwise. You do not
want that- you will lose mail that way!

  • Where are keyword files located and how do I get them into lightroom 4?

I have upgraded from lightroom 3 to lightroom 4.  In many cases the keywords are missing - sort of. When I click on a single photo, the keywords don't show up.  If I select a bunch of photos, the keywords show up as a group.  Why aren't they listed for individual photos?  How can I get them "connected" without redoing each photo?  Let me know if you need more information.  It seems I read somewhere that the keywords are kept in a separate file (many of these photos are jpg, so I'm not talking .xmp), but I can't find where I read this.  Anyone know?
    Thanks for help.
    Margaret

Hello.  It looks like I recovered all my keywords attached to photos.  What I did:
First I located all photos without keywords using a metadata search.
I found that it seemed to be certain groups of photos that had no keywords.  I decided to at least get the main keyword on all of those in a particular group, like Canyonlands.
Once I added one of the keywords, the others all showed up magically!  I then went to each group of photos and added the main keyword, and the others came along and attached to the photos.
Don't understand why this occurred or why it got fixed, since it was so random.  But, I'm glad to have my keywords restored (I had divided flowers by color, etc. so it was a lot of work!)
Thanks for the discussion and help.

  • Setting project default file locations and a few random interface questions

I apologize for the randomness of this post, but it seemed better than spamming a bunch of different posts in a short period of time.  I've been using Premiere Elements 9 for about 6 months now and there are a few little things that I'd like to tweak.
I'd like to change the default file save location for a project.  I've got different projects in different folders and it seems like I should be able to set a default save location for each project.  All I've ever been able to find in the help is how to set the scratch folder, which is different.
I'd like to change the default encoding preset for a project.  For example, I have a custom preset for mp4 under the mobile phone category.  It would be nice to have that be the default whenever I pick the mobile phone category.
With birthdays and concerts and plays and all that stuff I have about 50 videos and a couple hundred large photos already.  Every time Premiere loads, it takes a few extra seconds to load up all of the thumbnails.  I hide all the videos and pictures on the Organize tab and save the project, but it never sticks.  Is this just impossible?
Finally, every so often, the end-of-clip marker acts funny.  I don't know what the proper name for it is, but it is the thing under the mouse cursor in the picture below.  It used to automatically move on the time line as I added or deleted clips.  Somehow I clicked a button and it no longer does that.  After a week or so of not working, it goes back to automatically adjusting as I add and delete clips from the timeline and then it will break again.  Ideas?
Also in the timeline, I now have this huge gap of nothingness on top of video 1, see picture.  My ocd says that Video1 and Audio 1 should be at the very top and the gap should be on the bottom.  Ideas?
    Thanks,
    Bob

I kind of wish you'd have spread these questions out over a couple of posts so that we could answer each thoroughly. If I answer all of them in depth in a single post, this answer would be the size of one of my books! (which, by the way, contain many of the answers to these questions.)
    1. The default save location for your videos should be the last place you've saved your video to. So that should happen automatically. Although in my books I recommend that, whenever you start a new project, you create a new folder for it. This is good housekeeping and a good way to keep your tmp and render files in the same place on your drive, which has a number of advantages.
    2. You can't create a custom project preset. The only presets available are the ones Adobe provides. And, although they are pretty extensive, some non-traditional formats (like video from some mobile phones) are not well supported. You may be able to get it to work -- but it's usually a hybrid solution and, personally, if you plan to use your phone's video as your main video source, I'd recommend you look at another video editing program. Premiere Elements doesn't do the hybrid stuff well. It's ideally suited for video from traditional camcorders.
    3. The thumbnails you see when the program loads are not in your current project. At least not until you import them into your Project panel. That Media panel is merely a preview to what's in your Organizer catalog. As I explain in my book, it's usually best to ignore this panel until you really learn your way around the basics of this program. It's very confusing. Fortunately, it adds very little load time to the program itself -- regardless of how much time it seems to add.
    4. The thing in the illustration is the Work Area Bar. It's used to isolate a segment of your timeline for rendering, etc. Usually, it will shrink and grow as you add and remove video from your timeline. Unfortunately, there's a bug in version 9 and, if you manually change it once during a project, you'll have to manually change it for the rest of the time you work on the project. But, if you drag each end of the Work Area Bar to cover your entire timeline of videos, your project shouldn't misbehave.
    5. The "gap of nothingness" on your timeline is just room for you to add more audio and video tracks if you'd like to. It's a good thing to have! BTW, as I'm sure you know (and my books, once again, explain) you can toggle the tracks on your timeline so that they display as either compressed (as in your illustration) or wide open, which allows you to see your clips and control audio and video levels. Once again, this is a very good thing!
    Happy moviemaking.

  • Reference Files Location and Storage

    Hi all,
I hope someone can help me with my referenced files in Aperature. I notice recently that the files are removed from its original location (ie. Pictures folder), and my images in Aperature are showing the badge of 'The referenced image’s master has not been found'. How can I re-save or get back the images since I can't even export neither can I find the masters?
One other question is that most of my images are now in Aperature (no longer referenced), can I save my Aperature Library into my external HDD and also a backup partition (on the same HDD) in the MacBook?
    Thanks.

Another question is - Does Consolidate Masters as Project' take up a lot of space? Once I have done this, does it mean I could delete the images stored in Photos?
When you consolidate masters, you will be prompted if you want to move or to copy your master image files. If you select to move, you will not need any additional space, if the images are relocated from a folder on the same drive as the library. Then you will not need to delete any files afterwards.  If you select to copy, you can remove the original files after consolidating, but compare the size of your Aperure library before and after consolidating, to be sure that your images are now inside the library.
However, I got a project that has really lost the original image even though I used spotlight to search my entire computer. How do I get back these files since I still could double-click to view the image (large). I have these 'lost' images posted on facebook. How can I retrieve them?
Since you can view the image, you seem to have high quality previews. The Previews are what you see, when you access the Aperture Library from the Media Browser in any iLife or iWorks Application.
You can copy them from the Previews folder by opening the Aperture Library Package.
Quit Aperture, if it is running.
Select the Library in the Finder by opening the "Pictures" folder; then ctrl-click the Aperture Library. Select show Package Contents from the pop-up menu.
Open the Previews folder inside the package and try to find the Previews of your missing images. Copy them to a folder on your Desktop. If you cannot find the original master image files on your Backup, these Previews will be all that is left of your images.
Right now, I reopened my value and it says 'Aperature Library_Old'. How can I use this library as the current one?
A vault is not a library, it is a backup of your library, from which you can restore your library. Is this vault old enough to contain your missing images? A vault only stores managed images. If you created your vault while the images in question where managed, you might be able to recover them from this vault.
See this section of the Aperture User Manual on how to restore a library from a vault: Restoring Your Aperture System

  • Saving files, location and format

I just recently purchased a macbook pro, with the aperture software installed, and have a question reguarding the files used in the program.
I know that when you import photos, you must put them in a project, however i would like to know where this project is saved. Also, when i delete a project, if it deletes just the project and any modifications i have made to the master photos, and what happens to the master photos afterwards. Does the non destructive format follow to this as well? What about if i import from memory card to aperature, does it save a master image, and then put it in a project, or what happens?
    Thanks

When you launch Aperture, it will create a file in the Pictures folder called "Aperture Library. aplibrary"
This location can be changed from within Aperture/Preferences, but Aperture will not move this library file to the new location. If you need to move it, use Finder. If you don't move it, Aperture will create a new library in your newly chosen location when you next start Aperture. To prevent confusion, make sure you move or delete (so long as there are no required images in it) an unused library file.
I know that when you import photos, you must put them in a project, however i would like to know where this project is saved.
Aperture physically stores all images within a folder structure within this library. The library is a package, and can be navigated in Finder by right mouse clicking and choosing "Show Package Contents." When you do this, and you've imported some images, you will see some project files projectname.approject. These again are packages (groupings of file/folders). If you open one of these packages you will see a folder per image (image name)which contains the imported image, some index files and any version files for adjustment versions you may have created. Note the size of the version files are tiny, as only the rules/parameters are saved, not the image data itself ... which remains unaltered and pristine in the image name file).
Hence non-destructive editing is achieved without significant impact on disk space.
if i import from memory card to aperature, does it save a master image, and then put it in a project, or what happens?
They will be imported into the above structure under a project you are pointing at during import with that project's name. The "master" will be copied into this project and 3 - 4 support files (all small), including one that is the template to become the first version you create as you make adjustments. NOTE: Each master, its support files (metadata, index, etc), version files are all stored in one folder per master within the project package. The master is not altered or stored in a proprietary structure and so can be copied out using Finder if necessary ... although Spotlight does not scan packages that I know of.
Also, when i delete a project, if it deletes just the project and any modifications i have made to the master photos, and what happens to the master photos afterwards.
If you delete a project, or a master image within a project, the deletion is NOT undo-able within Aperture. However, the deletions do go into Trash under a folder"Aperture" You can drag and drop images out of here and re-import, or drag the project out and re-import.
    Hope this helps.
