XMII with test equipments

Hi,
Did anyone integrate XMII with Lab test equipments, I want to know how it is working. Because we are planning on implementing XMII for interfacing SAP QM and Test equipment.
Can anyone tell me how to proceed.

The lab systems we typically integrate to are referred to as LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and are commonly based on a relational database. As a result the JDBC data server is common. Some more advanced systems support WebServices and so we use the logic editor for WS calls into the system.

Problem in integrating xMII with VC

hi Experts,
My xMII server Version is 11.5
I followed this document:

Connection test is successful, after configured System.
I am getting error while FindData Seach in VC,
Inputs given are,
System: XMII_JDBC (this is my system)
Look for: Look for a table
the error is, Error-2305 Cannot retrive catalogs and schemas; check the connection to the selected systems Cannot access JDBC metadata 
I think i made mistake in connectionURL, but connection test is successful.
Please guide me, where i made mistake.

I gave like this::

I tried using all the URL shown above, but it is not listing the Querys in VC .
Can u guide me how can i form that Connection URL ..

TPM: Is Total productive maintenance. It is a standard tool used in different industries. TPM has many parts like preventive maintenance, preditive maintenance , 5S etc. The basic purpose of TPM is to increase the production and decrease the breakdown using 5S, preventive and predictive maintenaace and many other ty6pes of maintenence strategies like Root cause analysis, six sigma. so TPM is a broad term under which all the maintenance strategies, six sigma, 5S etc lies. Predictive maintenance: it is the third step after the breakdown maintenace and preventive maintenance.
The flow is as follows:
Breakdown maintenance--Preventive maintenance--
predictive maintenace.
TPM is used to move from breakdown maintenace to preventive maintenance and then tyo predictive maintenance.
Predictive maintenance is to predict the effect of any internal or external factor on machine or equipment and to take precautionary measure before that effect cause any effect on the machine. So to avoid the breakdown maintenance which result in close of plant and zero production , predictive maintenance is the best tool. But it is very hard to implemnt in practical maintenance scnerios.
Calibration of test equipments: There are certain equipments in industries which need to be clibrated after a fixed time like 6 months , 2 years etc. Such type of equipment are temperature transmitters, sensors, pressure transmitter and sensor, Flow, level, moisture etc. Claibration is to set the instrument against a standard range which we get from master calibration instrument. these are called test equipments. In SAP PM and QM we have to map that [process of calibration.
Take a example: i have a temperature transmitter which i am using in milk industry for measuring the temperature of the milk. so When the temperature of milk is 50 degree celusis, the instrument must give me the output reading of 50 degree celseis. But after some time say 6 months the range and span and calibration of instrument get changed. So we need to calibrate it again to get the accurate reading. So we calibrate the indtrument with a standard transmitter.

FM to read files starting with TEST(for example) from Unix server

Hi all,
Is there a FM to read all the files which start with TEST (for example) from the Unix server?
Requirement is if we put TEST* in the selection screen for the filename, it should read all the files which start with TEST from the default Unix path.

UAT is user acceptance test , carried out by end user from the business .
It includes business process in test script where each and every step is mentioned with person from business responsible in executing the step,
it includes SAP t code to execute the step,
Responsible stream like P2P , O2C etc
Name of the person executing the step,
Necessary Input data for particular step,
Expected results,
actual results,
status of the step like, ok , not tested, error , minor issue,
Error description,
All these are contained in detail in excell sheet, where end user follow each step to execute and record the results.
It is carried before Go live and UAT has to pass successfully for go live

Passing arrays with Test Stand to DIO 96

Does anyone know the easiest way of sending data arrays from Test Stand to a DIO 96 using a LabView dll? I have a Test Stand sequence where I will need to set bits and read bits from a DIO 96 and am going to make a LabView dll. I guess I will need to pass either arrays to and from each port or numeric data to and from each port to a dll and also figure out how the status of the bits in the DIO 96 will be remembered.
What is the best strategy for dealing with Test Stand and a DIO 96?

either approach is perfectly valid, and as you say, the activeX approach does remove some of the flexability of where you get the data from, however, what you've really described is two separate things, rather than two separate styles of approach.
ActiveX or direct passing are simply the means of getting data from and to your TestStand data space.
Step types are a convenient way of wrapping up particular layouts and functionalilty into a very easily re-usable TestStand development item. You would still need some sort of code module to put with a step type, so you're not necessarily limiting your developed code to the Teststand environment.
Making links through ActiveX allows you to make a solid definition on configuration type items, and allow for edit substeps. For example, the NumericLimitTest step type has step.limits.high and step.limits.low. Rather than pass those to the edit substep as a dll call (which is perfectly valid), passing the sequence context (which also allows you to run the termination monitor etc) allows for the fixed references to the fixed data layout of the step. Self containment like this works when the data sources are fixed as you get with a step type to use the edit substep, or the pre/post substeps.
Working on a dll call allows more re-use because then you concentrate on the data, rather than where it's come from, however, for large amounts of different sources, the dll prototype can become very complex and difficult to document. You end up having to pass lots of parameters and some of them you might not use.
The question you're ultimately trying to answer is "what does it do to my architecture?"
The holy grail of TestStand architectures is any step type can be used in any sequence in any sequence file with any process model under any operator interface. Now this isn't always practical, but the closer you get to it, the more flexibility your system as a whole contains, and the easier it becomes to add in or change the layout / functionality of the system
With this comes code re-use, but the extra development time it takes to make good re-usable maintainable code isn't re-couped until the 4th or 5th re-use.
If you want in this case your passing of the array to occur from many different places in your sequences, and you're building up lots of sequences to use them, then making a step type, and passing through the most convenient method you decide upon will make the implementation of the sequences easier to do.
If you only need it in a couple of ways, then you can do without the step type, and if it's not many different data sources, then pass by parameter to the dll through the function prototype directly, and use a regular DLL adapter to acheive it.

Filling bc travel data model with test data

Hey i read somewhere that there is a app to fill the bc travel data model with test data.I been searching but havent found one in the preview version.Please help me if anyone knows how to get it done.Filling it manually is taking a whole lot of time.

seems new systemd "testing" has libsystemd and systemd-tools inside it, just like systemd-git on AUR

Read files starting with TEST* (for example)

Hi all,
Is it possible to read all the files starting with TEST for example from the Unix folder.
Requirement is there will be files starting with TEST present in the default path x.
I need to read all the files starting with TEST from this path. So, basically in the selection screen, can I put the default filename as TEST*.
All these files will have POs(Purchase Orders) which the program needs to update accordingly.
Please assist.

I had to do the same. Selecting all values from table comparing konzs that start with number 500* .
check the code:
   lv_var = '500'.
   CONCATENATE lv_var '%' INTO h_concern.
   SELECT * INTO TABLE t_lfa1
           FROM        lfa1
           WHERE     konzs LIKE h_concern.

How to fill pre-defined tables in Word 2003 with test results?

Hi All,
I have a simple test board , where i measure different DC levels, with a simple Vi that saves the test results in to a Text file.
These results in text file, were manually typed in to a test report , which is a Word document with tables, but i have now created a macro in word 2003 that can take the results from text file and added to the specific rows and columns in my word test report file.
The big questions is how can i get Labview to,after it has measured the DC levels, write the test results to the specific tables , rows and columns, in the Word document without deleting all?
The attached picture illustrates one tables , and the yellow cells showing the cells that need to be filled in with test results.

I'm a Test Engineer for electronics and I create alot of automated tests with LabVIEW. Many of our customers want testsresults in a fancy and easy-to-read report. I did not have the MS Office Report Generation tool. So I did some research in the Excel Board and came a cross a link to a free open Excel toolkit ( Link ). The toolkit looks like this in LabVIEW:
As you can see, you have many tools to get the job done. I'm talking about reading, writing and formatting Excel. The toolkit uses activeX. If you give me a few minutes I'll create an example for you.
What I do when I create a report:
Step 1. Create a template with all your formatting, macros, images and colors. Name the file for example "template.xlsx" (or .xls if you use an older office version).
Step 2. In your program, copy the file to the desired location and give it a proper name.
Step 3. Aquire some data and write it to the file you copied and renamed.
For my latest project I created a fully-automated testprogram for testing a electric product. After each test a report is generated based on the procedure above. After testing all the products I have for example 300 reports. I then created a program that reads all the reports and creates a summary report that contains statistics for all the tested products. In my program I can also print the reports or the summary report and deliver to our customer. All this takes just a few seconds and adds extra quality to the products we sell to our customer.

Integrate xMII with ERP

Hi,
I am trying integrate xMII with ERP, So I have followed this blog

I have created JCO Interface with some BAPI in BLS. I have added a sequence in that I am keeping Message XML output. While I am runnig, I didn't get that output.
If anybody worked on this give me step by step solution

Use Action Tracer after each actions in the BLS and link the Output of previous action to the message of Tracer. This will help u to find where prob comes. probably u hv got stuck with some misleading in BLS.

Capabillities of xMII with respect to TIBCO in integrating shop floor

Can any one tell capabilities of xMII in comparision with TIBCO with respect to shop floor integration and KPI generation . which is better.

First off, Like Ryan I too am bias towards xMII. Secondly I don't know that much about TIBCO, but here are some questions you ask in order to compare xMII with TIBCO:
1.) xMII is a very good data aggregate where you the customer determines what you need and how to use it. Does TIBCO have this functionality? Your applications come first in xMII, the functionality is not limited to just a set of canned KPIs, you can quickly and easily add new KPIs dependant on your needs.
2.) Shop floor connectivity is critical, Does TIBCO have the connectivity that xMII offers?
3.) xMII has great performance and is light weight. Unlike most 'Enterprise Level' application platforms, SAP xMII considers real-time to be in the order of seconds to minutes, not days or weeks. The largest overhead in an xMII installation (minus any other SAP systems) is NetWeaver.
Try to figure out you scenario, find all the business requirements you need, then check out xMII's abilities vs TIBCO. I think you'll agree that xMII can handle what ever TIBCO offers and most likely even more.
