XML DB Conference/ Workshops

Hi,
It will be really helpful if anyone could give me some url links that gives info on any future Oracle XML DB 11g related conference/workshops? Is there any mailing list or so to which I need to subscribe, to get frequent updates on these?
Thanks in advance,
Divya.

Pooh...
Ehm, I guess/know that Oracle organizes from time to time hands-on-labs in the States. Not sure if Mark Drake can give you any extra info on that one...
I started a LinkedIn group for XMLDB, but not much activity yet there: http://www.linkedin.com/groups?mostPopular=&gid=3282943
You could follow up on where I hang around and try to get people hooked on XMLDB: http://www.liberidu.com/blog/ (upcoming appearances)
Was actually a good year for me regarding conference presentations, UKOUG (Birmingham) will be the last one, this year. Before that I have presented this year in: Dallas (Hotsos), 1-day masterclass in Dusseldorf, Germany (thanks to Oracle EMEA), Denmark (MOW), Washington DC (ODTUG Kaleidoscope), Michigan (MOS), San Francisco (OOW), Brussels Belgium (OPP2010) and as said, in two weeks time during UKOUG. Unsure how many people I have drawn into the dark side called XMLDB :-) LOL ;-) I tried to positively influence some conference content people (beer/bribes/threats), but until now without luck, to get more XMLDB topic presenters in there. I will probably present during ODTUG Kaleidoscope next year.
During Oracle Open World (OOW), there always pretty good hands on labs sessions. The practice material can be downloaded via the main XMLDB OTN site.
I also know that you can do a training course nowadays with Oracle University. There are also some Oracle learning courses on line via "Oracle by Example".
AFAIK there is not a mailing list as such, if so I would be interested as well...
Anyway. Hope to be of help (a little bit)

  • Mapping DTO to XML Schema for Workshop Web Service

    I have a number of DTOs that my application uses. This application
    needs to consume a number of document style web services created in
    workshop. When I generate the proxies for this web service, it creates
    Java beans for the XML schema types defined in the web service.
    Is there a way to get the workshop stubs to map my DTOs to XML schema?
    If not, what is the best way to do this mapping? Thanks.

  • Associating local copy of xml schema in Workshop

    Hi
    Every time I open an xml file in xml editor in Weblogic Workshop v 9.2.0 it takes 20 seconds+ to load.. and same to save changes. I believe this is because it is travelling across the internet to download the schemas defined in the xml header
    Eg.
    http://www.springframework.org/schema/aop/spring-aop-2.0.xsd
    http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-2.0.xsd
    Is there some way I can tell Workshop that I have local copies of these schema files in the project directory that it can use to validate against so as to avoid this 20 second lag time?
    Cheers
    Glen

    I found there is an XML Catalog section under Preferences -> Web and XML that looks like it might be of use in solving this issue.
    I've tried creating User Specified Entries for the schema I believe it is trying to load but it doesn't appear to be making any difference. Can anyone point me to any support notes explaining how this XML Catalog function / dialog box is supposed to be used?
    Some other documents suggest that their is an Internet Cache to hold copies of files accessed over the Internet. Does anyone know how I could configure/see where on disk this cache would exist so I can see if the schemas are being cached?
    Cheers

  • Validating XML document in Workshop 8.1

    Hi,
    I am new to Workshop. I have little experience with SAX or DOM. I found them
    very confusing.
    I am hoping Workshop 8.1 will provide a more user friendly solution. For a web
    application, on
    the client side, can Workshop validate an XML document, which is created from
    user entries on
    a browser form (Inquiry phase), against a predefined schema? Upon sucessful validation,
    the
    client invokes the web service which returns the result of the inquiry. Upon
    receiving the result,
    can the client augment the result with additional information from an external
    schema before
    displaying the result on the browser?
    Thanks
    Mike

    Mike,
    XMlbeans would provide with functionality to do what you are trying to do.
    Please refer to the SchemaChoice.jws sample which is shipped with Workshop.
    This sample shows how the document can be validated against a schema.
    Please refer to the following document for more information on this

    Hope this helps.

  • XML Beans in Workshop 8.1

    I'm using workshop 8.1 beta... when I import schemas into a project the interfaces

  • SIGs/Workshops/Conferences

    I recently changed programming teams inside my company, and at last have a stipend for attending conferences, workshops, etc.
    My interests are (o'course) Java use in and with reference to: web services, XML, J2ME, XP, test driven development, and emerging technology. I can only probably fit in one conference a quarter. I have to stay within the USA/Canada/Mexico. I'd like to hit NYC at least once a year.
    My boss would like me to map out, in a general way, offerings I'm interested in for the coming year.
    E3 is not an option BOOOO. Japan is off limits BOOOOO^2.
    Planning on JavaOne for sure. What else would you all recommend?
    I don't want to miss something sweet because I'm not on the right mailing list... Thanks.

    Well, there's the Dukes. I'm heading home for the weekend in 1/2 hour. And I am actually not on call, this week anyway. We have both websphere and apache servers here. I have an IBM developerworks membership that's worth it's weight in gold. I've been keeping an ear out for suggestions over there.
    My shop is gradually moving to more and more open source offerings. I think that's great as long as they are willing to recognize that open source projects as downloaded may only be more-or-less "as advertized" and may require considerable effort to put them in usable or useful shape for our implementation. You and I know there's never anything that's really free or cheap -- and sometimes the up-front cost of the service doesn't make the tool any more or less usable.
    My boss is very dedicated to letting XP succeed in our shop, which is wonderful for me. We do test first, and rigorously, and team (or just as often group) programming is not for everybody, but I really love the give and take, the intensity and the exuberance.
    If I could only convice corporate that paying so much attention to my clothes is a sick perversion on their part, I'd be really happy ;)
    Time to go feed the iguana!
    Have a good weekend yourself!

    From the error logs we can trace it out to the web project's Build.xml file ....I was getting a similar error and by commenting out the following lines in the web project's Build.xml I am able to run the build script correctly and get a EAR file. The lines are
    <!--
    <assemble
    moduleDir="${generated.module.root}"
    moduleName="${project.name}"
    srcOutputDir="${assembly.src}"
    appRootDir="${ear.root}">

    <assemblyContext factory="org.apache.beehive.controls.runtime.assembly.AppAssemblyContext$Factory" />
    <classpath refid="assembly.classpath" />
    <fileset dir="${project.dir}">
    <include name="**/*.controls.properties" />
    </fileset>
    </assemble>
         -->
    Please check it now, also if any one can let us know the function or role played by the above lines it would be great. Also if there would be any future or unseen problems by commenting out these lines please do let us know...

  • Report acts funny AND xml-export broken

    Hi @ all,
    1.
    My users are experiencing some weird problems: A report is displayed with the pagination showing that there are 59 rows, but the report is empty... only the column headings are shown!
    Take a look at the screen shot (2004-07-21_Report-Problem.JPG):
    http://marvel.oracle.com/pls/otn/p?n=3444139716751380138
    I've seen this only a couple of times and we thought that we had eliminated the problem by installing a newer version of the IExplorer (6.0). My users had some more difficulties with the older version (mostly 5.0).
    Creating this page I used the howto 'Build a master-detail application'. And yes, I'm positive, there are Samples associated with Delivery 11.
    Has anyone ever experienced such a thing?? How did you get around it? (especially this being such a sometimes-works-sometimes-doesn't-work phenomenon)
    2.
    Another thing: I tried the XML-export (Data Workshop) here in my installation. When I'm at the very end and click Export Data I just get an error message: ORA-04063: has errors ORA-04063: package body "FLOWS_010404.WWV_FLOW_DATALOAD_XML" has errors ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called. (This happens whether the 'Export as file' -checkbox is checked or not!)
    I tried exactly the same thing on marvel.oracle.com and got a nice XML-file.     :-)
    Has anyone a clue what that program unit is that is not found?
    -David-

    David,
    1. Looks like a pagination problem. Look for threads on resetting pagination on this forum. Your mileage may vary, given the version of HTML DB you are running.
    2. I know you don't want to hear this, but it's time to upgrade to the production version of HTML DB. Like you said, it's working on htmldb.oracle.com. It's tough to say what may be wrong with your setup, other than that it's pre-release software.

  • How to create a new Servlet in Web Logic Workshop 8.1?

    Hi,
    I am new to WebLogic. I am now using WebLogic 8.1 SP4. I want to use Servlets in my project. But I can't able add new Servlets. There is option to add JSP,Java Class, etc but no Servlet. Please help me.
    Regards,
    Venkatesh M. :-(

    Hi Venkatesh ,
    To create or import the Servlet in workshop and to run it, we need to follow the steps in workshop as given below.
    1)Create the empty application
    2)Create the webproject under the application
    3)Right click on the webproject and choose the new -> java Class to write the
    servlet in IDE Or choose import option and import the servlet file
    4)Start the weblogic server
    5)Go to tools menu->choose weblogic server->choose weblogic builder
    6) In weblogic builder go to file menu->open your webproject
    then it shows servlet ,filter,security Constriant and tag libraries folders in a builder at left side
    7)Click on the servlet folder and click on the add button at right pane of the builder then you will give servlet name , servlet class name and url pattern.
    After giving the Urlpattern click on the add button which is right to the urlpatern text field.
    8)Click on ok button
    9)click on the save button
    then you will see the servlet mapping elements in web.xml file in workshop IDE what we given in builder.
    10)Exit from the weblogic builder
    11)Right click on the application and clean the application
    12)Build the application
    then it compiles the Servlets files automatically.
    You can see the those class files in .workshop folder which is located under applicaton folder.
    Note :go to the applicaton where it is stored.you should see these files manually because workshop ide shows the navigation from the webproject only. you can't see these files from workshop.
    13)Go to tools menu->weblogic server->weblogic console and test the application using the weblogic console.
    or Directly opent he internet explorer send a request for particular servlet by giving urlpattern.

  • Workshop standards interoperability

    I’m looking at the docs for WebLogic Workshop and I’m interested in the standards
    it supports. I’m having a bit of trouble reconciling how this fits in with the
    alphabet soap of standards in the web services world between current standards
    and JSRs under development. The reviews look great but the docs seem pretty
    high level in terms of interoperability. The docs mention .net, SOAP, WSDL, document
    style or RPC style). I’ve been developing some web services in WebLogic 7 and
    want to be clear on what should work and what doesn’t for interoperability. For
    example, if clients of our workshop web service use JAX-RPC, JAXM or Apache Axis,
    will they have full interoperability with WebLogic Workshop from their perspective?
    Are there limitations? Does it use the JAX-RPC Java to WSDL object mapping specified
    in web-services.xml? Is Workshop a full JAX-RPC implementation (including support
    for SOAP attachments)? What about JAXM? What if the SOAP message has an ebXML
    profile? Please point me in the right direction if I have missed this information
    in the docs.
    Thanks,
    Dave

    I couldn't find any manuals or guides that include
    the new AEBS with 802.11n.
    They haven't been released yet.
    I would guess that with
    the new AEBS, it will work with 802.11a,b & g, but
    operate at the speed of the lowest common
    denominator. So if you had three 802.11n devices and
    one 802.11b, all would operate at the 802.11b speed
    because the AEBS would switch to that mode for all
    wireless. This is how it has been done before on
    previous Airport Base Stations.
    This is not correct.
    When a device 802.11b or 802.11g joins an 802.11n network, yes it does slow it down, but not down to the lowest denominator.
    If an 802.11b or 802.11g client joined an 802.11n network, 802.11n clients would still connect at speeds faster than 802.11g, but not as fast as a pure 802.11n network.
    With the 802.11g Airport Extreme and Airport Express, a similar thing would happen when a 802.11b client joined the network, 802.11g clients would still connect at speeds faster than 802.11b, but just not as fast as a pure 802.11g network.

    Did you "Enable AppXRay" on the project?
    In order to work with Workshop the project needs to be marked as web application.
    If your project is already in workspace, then right click and select "Enable AppXRay" FYI: Workshop identifies web resources inside web-root of an application. A web-root of an application is the folder containing WEB-INF directory.
    Ex:
    - C:\MyProject\WEB-INF\web.xml - in this case MyProject itself will be web-root
    - C:\MyProject\site\WEB-INF\web.xml - in this case site can be web-root
    Once the project is enabled with AppXRay, you open JSP/XML files in Workshop Editor (with Design/Source, Design & Source tabs).
    NOTE: Switch to Workshop perspective (Window > Open Perspective > other > Workshop)to see the default views. The jsp/xml files from AppXplorer view are by default opened in Workshop Editor.
    As I mentioned earlier the following settings should be checked for live "AppXRay" synchronization:
    - Window > Preferences > General > Workspace – make sure “Build automatically” is checked
    - Project > Properties > Builders – make sure “Workshop AppXRay Builder” is present and should be checked
