XML diff in XML DB
Hey All,
Is there a mechanism for getting a diff of XMLTypes/documents in XML DB? Or is the best bet to make/load in my own implementation? Obviously, I don't want to reinvent the wheel if I don't have to.

XML diff and merge - free lib?
I'm using my own XML communication protocol and got a problem. I transfer a configuration with this protocol, and the config can grow very large. So I want to create a diff of old/new configuration an transfer only this diff. On the receiver side the last received config should be patched with the diff.
I'm using JDOM.
Is there a free lib for XML diff and merge/patch available? I already googled for it but found only a commercial lib.

What are the licence considerations for using this code (xml-compare.jar) elsewhere?
E.g. if I wanted to create a Swing Application to just do XML Diff or create a plugin for other IDEs?You can't pick up code libraries from the core of JDeveloper and use it in your own application. The code belongs to Oracle.

Is there a XML Diff utility/API that is schema aware? i.e. can determine that <foo bar="true"/> is the same as <foo/> if the schema says that the default value for the optional bar attribute is "true".
As far as I can see, oracle.xml.XMLDiff has no such feature.
VijayMost XML diff APIs are not schema aware. XML document differences implies differences in XML elements and attributes, not a validation of the XML documents with a schema.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the rss.xml and podcast.xml?
I have the Podcast maker program. Can anyone tell me the difference between the rss.xml and podcast.xml? How do they differ? What do I use each of them for? Where should I put them in my directory?
Podcast Maker sets up your podcast from media files you enter into it; you enter the summary and description. It then publishes to your iDisk or other server, and in the process created the podcast.xml file which you can submit to iTunes.
It doesn't create an rss.xml file: it sounds as if you are also creating the podcast in iWeb, which does. This has the advantage of creating a web page; it will also create the rss.xml file.
Both are valid - of course if there are any differences between the version in Podcast Maker and the version in iWeb then the xml files will be different. But basically you seem to be creating two versions of the same podcast - if you are making it in iWeb then the Podcast maker version is really redundant (though I prefer it for podcast creation). If you want to go on using both I should use the podcast.xml feed it creates. -

Your error message are not displaying because u does not made Message-Resoucrce property file (Resource Bundle) when you make it .
give it entry in
struts-config.xml
<message-resources parameter="ApplicationResources" />
and
define key and corresponding error message to key in this ApplicationResources i.e

Error while trying to update the XML template using XML Publisher Administrator
Hello Folks,
We are on R12.1.3
I changed a condition in a report and trying to upload the new XML template using XML Publisher Administrator.
when i click the Apply button, it is throwing an error 'Bad Request'
Navigation : XML Publisher Administrator > Data Definitions > query the report
Click on the name of the report > click 'Update file' besides Data Template > Choose file > Click Apply
I am getting the below error
Bad Request
Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Now, i could not upload a new XML template.
Am I doing anything wrong.

The problem is not with the template.
It seems to be a problem in that particular instance.
Uploaded it in a different instance.
However once i run the program, i cannot view the output as the browser window flashes and disappears.
My colleague says , it is to do with the trusted site to download something from the browser.

I had a similar error which when I searched, came up with this thread.
My issue was resolved after I discovered that my RTF template was not really RTF. It was sill in MS Word DOC format. This was discovered by reviewing two templates in NOTEPAD. The MS-DOC files have a lot of "special" characters in them. My RTF was not really RTF.
After doing a SAVE AS - RTF format, then the preview worked as expected.

I am using Web Service Client Control class in WebLogic Portal portlet backing class to invoke Web Service. But while invoking Web Service, I am getting following error:

XML string to XML parsing in JCD
I have stored an XML file as a CLOB in the Oracle DB. While fetching this data into JCD using Oracle OTD, I am getting this CLOB field as a string containing the XML. Now I want to parse this XML string to XML, as I need to map the individual fields to an XSD OTD, which will be my output.
Kindly suggest a way to achieve this.An XSD OTD has an unmarshalFromString() method:
inputFormat.unmarshalFromString( strData );
When putting the XML into the CLOB it could be a good idea to wrap an outputstream into a Writer object in order to make certain that the encoding is correct, depending how the data is represented. When retrieving CLOB data using getCharacterStream() you will get a Reader object where the encoding is already given. -
Conversion of xml string to xml file
To convert xml string to xml file in java i used
Document XMLDoc=DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance().newDocumentBuilder().parse(new InputSource(new StringReader("<root><main>Title</main></root&g t;")));
But it is showing an error as InputSource cannot be resolved
How to rectify thisI assume you mean there is a compiler error? (It helps if you explain your problem instead of just giving a vague description of it.) It sounds like you have to import InputSource. You do know about the import statements that go at the beginning of a Java class, don't you?

XML Document from XML Schema Bug
When an XML document is generated from an XML Schema the XML document does not have all the elements specified in the XML Schema. The XML document only has the root element.
1. Register an XML Schema.
2. Create an XML document with File>New>General>XML>XML Document from XML Schema. The "Generate only Required Elements" is unchecked.
3. The XML document has only the root element.
In JDeveloper 10.1.3 all the elements in the XML Schema get generated.Also, the component palette for the XML document generated from the XML Schema does not list all the elements in the XML Schema, only the root element is listed. Even if elements are specified as required in the XML Schema with minOccurs="1" and the "Generate only Required Elements" checkbox is selected only the root element gets generated.
