XML editor for NW2004s installation
Hi Experts,
could you suggest me a really good and free xml editor which is good for editing big .xml files like control.xml and where the line nr. for each line of the xml is also displayed.
Unfortunately I have to edit this file a few times during the installation.
Thanks!
Joe
You can use Editplus. It gives you the line numbers also. Its a free tool.

Calling default XML editor for system in Java
I'm looking for a way to call the system's default editor for xml files from a Java application. In other words, if I'm running on a Windows system, I might want to start Notepad, or if I'm on a Mac, maybe I want to start TextWrangler or oXygen, etc.
Essentially, I want to pass down an XML file to the system and have the underlying system determine the default editor, and then open the file in that editor.
I've seen some code using Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c notepad.exe") and the like, but that assumes
a) I know what the default editor for XML on the system is
b) I know the executable path for this file
I don't have a way of knowing either of those assumptions. Can anyone suggest ways for me to solve this bind? You might want to check out the Desktop class which "allows a Java application to launch associated applications registered on the native desktop to handle a URI or a file" including "launching a registered application to open, edit or print a specified file".
But note: "The mechanism of registereing, accessing, and launching the associated application is platform-dependent." In particular if there is no association between file/URI and application all you get is a IOException at the time you call open(). -

Here you have to specify the details like System ID, Instance number etc.,
Then follow the steps:
System Landscape>other object>Specify the System ID(Which you have registered as i said in the provious step)-->select the generate key icon.
Hope it is helpful for you!!

XML editors on Unix Solaris platform
Any suggestion for a good XML editor for
Unix platform? It will be greatly appreciated
if you can give some comments/evaluation about the XML editors you are using.
thanks,
nullHi dude,
glad the fix worked.
1) Hmmmm. This one is trickey. Ideally you need to use a PUT operation over http, which will allow you to write the xml file out. However, not sure what you need to do in terms of ACL's to allow TOmcat to write the file.
2) A quick fix for this would be to change your protocol from http to file://actual/file/path. This will allow you to write the assuming that you have permissions.
3) Check that the user your running Tomcat as has UNIX file permissions. i.e. read and write, not just read.
hope this helps.

Installation of XML Parser for PL/SQL
After following the installation instruction on XML Parser PL/SQL on UNIX, I got the below error message when running the sample:

Looking for existing ABAP Text/XML editor
Is there any XML editor or Text Edit with an XML flavor in NW?
We need following function:
1. upload /edit/ save XML to some place.
2. we can retrieve it via some methods, or we can access via writing program.
If cannot find editor for all of the criteria, at least it match the first one,
Is anyone have experience in related area?
Thanks a lot for your help.Hi Daixiong,
Thanks for your help,
yeah, you are right, same in T-code "SPROXY", we could found an XML editor, but the method is used for PI(XI) only per comments from the function owner, and the methods are not public, the XML editor is only tiny part of the PI workbench, so it may not be suitable.
I would like to have a clean Text/XML editor.
Thanks for your reply again:)

No editor for ejb-jar.xml
Hi,
I'm on NWDS 7.1 sp 8.
When I try to edit ejb-jar.xml and all the other J2ee XML files in netweaver developer Studio, I just get a standard XML editor. Can I change this to a guided editor, or do I need to edit the files using the XML editor?
Regards
Daniel GraversenHi Daniel
It seems the guided editors are not available in the NWDS.
Try to use the standard XML editor. Since the XML descriptors have references to remote XML Schemas, the XML Editor knows which elements/attributes are allowed on each level. This will assist you while editing.

It looks like you have not initialized JServer in your 8.1.5

This is the first release candidate of XPontus XML Editor 1.0.0(http://xpontus.sf.net). There are now linux packages and a real windows installer. I tried to integrate most of comments to improve the usability.
Changes:
Changes to Project Administration
* Moved the revision control system from CVS to SVN
Changes to the Code Base
* Spring is used as container and for IOC.
* Changed from simple object serialization to XStream to save user settings.
* Moved from observer pattern to JGoodies bindings for UI mappings
* Allowed the user to customize more settings(font, tab size, jtidy settings,etc.).
* Add a tree view to browse the XML code structure
* Added support for XMLDiff
* The API has been cleaned to reuse code
Changes to Design
* No more annoying popup windows when you don't need them
Changes to the user interface
* Changed Splitpane windows to VlDocking framework components

zoundiNo, it is not built on top of Netbeans. The plugin framework is JPF(http://jpf.sourceforge.net) and the docking framework is vldocking(http://www.vlsolutions.com/en/products/docking/).
XPontus XML Editor is a standalone Java Swing application for now. The integration with Netbeans and Eclipse is planned for future releases. That will depends on the team's knowledge of Netbeans Platform and SWT.
Thank you for your interest in XPontus XML Editor

Hello Guru,
could you please help with my issue with Fiori Installation.
We want to install SAP Fiori Front-End (GW+UI) on the Sandbox system with SAP Netweaver 7.3.1. (SP14)
Gateway component (SAP GW CORE 200 SP10) was installed without any problems.
But I need to install UI-add-on (NW UI Extensions v1.0) and when I try to install it via SAINT, transaction said me that I need to generate xml-file for it (as in General notes for UI add-on mentioned).
But I have Solution Manager 7.0.1 and in MOPZ for this version I do not have option "install Add-on" as it written in Guide for ui add-on installation.
Could you please help me with advice how to generate xml-file for UI add-on installation on SolMan v.7.0.1?
If where is no way, but only to upgrade Solution Manager, maybe somebody could give me xml-file for your system (for NW 731) and I will change it to my needs, I will be very grateful!
Thanks in advance for any help!!!
Bets regards,

Custom UI or editor for input-parameter
I think I need to implement a custom UI editor for an input-paramenter. My input parameter is really a HashTable. I'd like to present a dialog that allows the user to enter any number of key value pairs. The optional "editor" element looks promising because it allows you to specify a ui-component. I have searched and searched for sample code, but haven't found any. Would some kind soul please point me to a resource that shows how to implement such as custom UI (whether it involves the "editor" element or not)?
Here's a link to the ui-component element in the reference:
http://livedocs.adobe.com/livecycle/8.2/programLC/programmer/help/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/w whelp.htm?href=000959.html#1548965&accessible=true
Thanks,
HalynnI appreciate the reply.
I was actually trying to point to another page, although that page may be applicable. Apparently the URL in my browser window was not sufficient to recreate my state in livedocs. I was looking at the reference for component.xml, specifically where it describes an optional <editor> element of <input-parameter>. This <editor> component also has a child called <ui-component>. I haven't found any sample code that uses these two elements.
I need to call my component with a Map or Hashtable (an arbitrary set of Key/Value String pairs). This Map needs to be easily configurable in LiveCycle Workbench. I've seen numerous operations that popup dialogs for input-parameters and serialize their data. I was thinking that I will have to implement my own dialog.
It sounds like you are suggesting I can achieve this with a variable and the set value service. I don't quite understand. How would I insert the string pairs?
Thanks,
Halynn
