XML editors on Unix Solaris platform

Any suggestion for a good XML editor for
Unix platform? It will be greatly appreciated
if you can give some comments/evaluation about the XML editors you are using.
thanks,
null

Hi dude,
glad the fix worked.
1) Hmmmm. This one is trickey. Ideally you need to use a PUT operation over http, which will allow you to write the xml file out. However, not sure what you need to do in terms of ACL's to allow TOmcat to write the file.
2) A quick fix for this would be to change your protocol from http to file://actual/file/path. This will allow you to write the assuming that you have permissions.
3) Check that the user your running Tomcat as has UNIX file permissions. i.e. read and write, not just read.
hope this helps.
daz.

  • XPontus XML Editor 1.0.0.1 is out

    Hi everybody,
    The version 1.0.0.1 of XPontus XML Editor(http://xpontus.sf.net) is out. XPontus XML Editor is a simple XML Editor oriented towards text editing. It aims to become the free alternative to commercial XML IDEs such as XML SPy or Oxygen XML Editor. The software has been entirely rewritten to support plugins, so most of XPontus features are provided as plugins which can be extended.
    Here is the complete list of the major features :
    * Modularity : XPontus is now built on top of a plugin framework to allow a modular development. Most of XPontus features are provided as plugins.
    * Code completion : For general XML files code completion is built on the fly when a DTD or schema is associated to the document. XSL completion is provided using a DTD embedded in the XML code completion plugin. For HTML files, an embedded DTD is used to create the code completion database.
    * XPath 1.0 support
    * Syntax coloring is enabled for XML and HTML related files.
    * XSL transformations (PDF, HTML, XML, SVG, TEXT).
    * Check if XML is well formed
    * Validation : Simple XML validation, Batch XML validation, External schema validation
    * Code structure browser to display the hierarchic structure of XML and HTML files
    * Code indentation is available for XML and HTML related files.
    * File system abstractions : XPontus will be able to use file system abstraction which means that a FTP file and a local file will be look all the same to the application.
    * Schema generation/conversion(Generation of DTDS, XML schemas, Relax NG grammars from XML files).
    * HTML Documentation generation from XML schemas or DTD
    * Installers are available for Windows, Mac and Linux/Unix(FreeBSD, Solaris)
    * Platform independence : As XPontus is written Java, it runs on most platforms such as Windows, Mac OS, Linux/Unix, FreeBSD, MacOS, Solaris.
    * Drag and drop support, common editing features(print, etc.), control+pageup and control+pagedown to switch between windows.

    No, it is not built on top of Netbeans. The plugin framework is JPF(http://jpf.sourceforge.net) and the docking framework is vldocking(http://www.vlsolutions.com/en/products/docking/).
    XPontus XML Editor is a standalone Java Swing application for now. The integration with Netbeans and Eclipse is planned for future releases. That will depends on the team's knowledge of Netbeans Platform and SWT.

  • Any XML Editor Recommendations?

    Can anyone recommend a decent graphical XML/XSL editor for use on a Solaris platform? I'm looking for something similar to XML SPY which unfortunately only runs under Windows.

    Though the Nirvana Editor does not replace a fully fledged XML-editor, its syntax-highlighting can come in useful with many file types including XML. It is available on a plethora of platforms including Solaris:

  • Online XML editor?

    Hi
    I am looking for an JSF component or framework which allows editing XML documents online in the browser.
    I found the tags richTextEditor and richTextEditorInsertBehavior, but thats out of the box only for text editing.
    http://jdevadf.oracle.com/adf-richclient-demo/faces/components/
    My wish list:
    - platform Win XP + IE6
    - XSD validation, marking erros, etc.
    - Intellisense feature e.g. suggestions in XML document for possible XSD values ...
    Until now I found:
    - http://www.bitfluxeditor.org/
    - http://www.ektron.com/ewebeditproxml.aspx
    - http://xopus.com/xopus-web-based-wysiwyg-xml-editor.html
    Someone used richTextEditor as online XML editor? Other advices ...?
    If I remember correctly than exists editing possiblities in the Oracle Enterprise Manager for XML documents of the application server? What framework is under the hood?

  • XPontus XML Editor

    This is the first release candidate of XPontus XML Editor 1.0.0(http://xpontus.sf.net). There are now linux packages and a real windows installer. I tried to integrate most of comments to improve the usability.
    Changes:
    Changes to Project Administration
    * Moved the revision control system from CVS to SVN
    Changes to the Code Base
    * Spring is used as container and for IOC.
    * Changed from simple object serialization to XStream to save user settings.
    * Moved from observer pattern to JGoodies bindings for UI mappings
    * Allowed the user to customize more settings(font, tab size, jtidy settings,etc.).
    * Add a tree view to browse the XML code structure
    * Added support for XMLDiff
    * The API has been cleaned to reuse code
    Changes to Design
    * No more annoying popup windows when you don't need them
    Changes to the user interface
    * Changed Splitpane windows to VlDocking framework components

  • Font related issue in JEditorPane on Solaris platform

    Hi,
    I am loading a HTML file which contains tables and in which table header text is in bold . Now when I see the output in the JEditorPane on Solaris, no bold font is seen there...only plane simple font is available for each word.
    This is happening on Solaris platform only. On Windows, its working fine. Please help me out in getting a workaround for the same. I want the table header words in bold format in JEditorPane on Solaris too.
    Thanks,
    gshankar

    well that depends how u are using your text. an XML can be
    easiliy shown in Dynamic text box. there are some issues when you
    mask it,
    although do one thing, if you are using Arial try not to
    embed and then see what happens, if it still raises a problem, let
    me know

    ThanksWell, from your code, you only have two traits that this depends on to work--comparing int's and EOF. You have hard coded a -1 for EOF into this, I am not completely familiar with EOF condition on different platforms, but I know int's compare without error on every platform. Do a debug and a breakpoint set to stop just before you think you're going to get an EOF and I think you'll see, that the EOF you are using is the actual problem.

  • Is ODI available for Solaris platform?

    Hi,
    I would like to know is there ODI available for Sun Solaris platform. I found in the installation document it says it is compatible with Sun Solaris. But I dont find any downloadbles available sun Solaris Platform.
    In the Installation Document i found like
    Minimum System Requirements:
    This configuration is typically for 2 Oracle Data Profiling/Quality users and an overnight data
    quality processing load.
     2 GB RAM
     Disk space depends on the data processes, we recommend 1,5 GB plus 2 to 5 times the size
    of the data sources.
     Operating Systems:
    UNIX:
     AIX 5L (v5.1, 5.2, and 5.3)
     Solaris 8, 9 or 10
     HP-UX 11.i V1 (PA RISC), HP-UX 11.i V2 (IA64)
     Linux Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 and above
    Windows:
     Windows: Windows 2000 Server with SP 3
     Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition with SP 1 (32 bit)ux Suse Version 9.2 Professional and above
    so can I install ODI for unix in Solaris

    Hi-
    You can use below manual installation proceeds as follows :
    Step 1. Download a setup for Windows and run it on a Windows machine.
    Step 2. Once the setup is finished, FTP all the following files and folders from your Windows machine to you Sun Solaris server :
    the entire 'bin' folder (excepting the '.bat' files) - ASCII transfer mode
    the entire 'lib' folder - BINARY transfer mode
    the entire 'drivers' folder - BINARY transfer mode
    Step 3. Once you have transferred all the files, do not forget to configure the odiparams.sh file according to your environment. Also add the appropriate files, used by ODI to connect to your technologies, to the 'drivers' folder.
    Does it helpful?
    Thanks,

  • FileLock doesn't work in UNIX (solaris)

    Hi all,
    I have a piece of code which writes to xml file and before that locks the file to prevent two users writing in same file in same time.
    This code works perfectly on my windows environment (Eclipse and windows 2000) but as soon as I put jar file in UNIX (SOLARIS) it doesnt work and two clients can change at same time!
    Anyone has an idea what is going on?
    Note: I put sleep just to be able to make a delay so I can try to have access from second client session to test my lock
    Following is my code:
      public synchronized void commitConfiguration() throws ConfigurationDataException
          try {
              // Get a file channel for the file
              File file = new File(uri);
              FileOutputStream outputStream = new FileOutputStream(file);
              FileChannel  channel = outputStream.getChannel();
              FileLock lock = fileLock(channel);
              if(lock != null) {
                  try {
                      processCommit(outputStream);
                      Thread.sleep(8000);
                  }finally {
                      Thread.sleep(8000);
                      lock.release();
                      channel.close();
              //reload the configuration
              refreshConfiguration();
        } catch (Exception e1) {
            throw new ConfigurationDataException("Cannot commit file, because: " + e1.getMessage());
      private static FileLock fileLock( FileChannel  channel) throws IOException {
          // Use the file channel to create a lock on the file. This is a share lock not exclusive so
          // other users can still read but not set
          // This method blocks until it can retrieve the lock.
          //FileLock lock = channel.lock(0L, Long.MAX_VALUE, true);
          // Try acquiring the lock without blocking. This method returns
          // null or throws an exception if the file is already locked.
          FileLock lock =null;
          try {
              lock = channel.tryLock();
          } catch (OverlappingFileLockException e) {
              // File is already locked in this thread or virtual machine
          if(lock == null) {
              lock = channel.lock();
          return lock;
      }Thanks,

    So what should we do to have the file locked?
    The Issue is I have one shared file system which all
    of my servers (it is a HA system which there are two
    from each server) having access to same file and I
    want them to be in synch, so I am trying to lock the
    file so no body even from other JVM (second server)
    cannot edit the file at the same time.
    Is there any way to handle this issue with this
    feature of java I mean FileLock and Channel API?Do the Java programs in the other servers also have the code to try and lock the file? Although unix has advisory locks, from what I have read, they should still work as long as you make sure all the Java programs that access the file attempt to get the lock. If any non-Java programs are using the file then they to would need to try and lock the file (not sure if they would play nice with the Java programs).

    I have received error "[javax.net.ssl.SSLKeyException: RSA premaster secret error]
    caused by [java.security.NoSuchAlgorithmException: Cannot find any provider supporting RSA/ECB/PKCS1Padding]"
    when running the following code snippet from command line[b]:
         TrustManager[] trustAllCerts = new TrustManager[]{
              new X509TrustManager() {
                public java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] getAcceptedIssuers() {
                    return null;
                public void checkClientTrusted(
                    java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] certs, String authType) {
                public void checkServerTrusted(
                    java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] certs, String authType) {
            // Install the all-trusting trust manager
            SSLContext sc = SSLContext.getInstance("SSL");
            sc.init(null, trustAllCerts, new java.security.SecureRandom());
            HttpsURLConnection.setDefaultSSLSocketFactory(sc.getSocketFactory());
            URL url = new URL("https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/");
            BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(
                             new InputStreamReader(
                             url.openStream()));
            String inputLine;
            while ((inputLine = in.readLine()) != null)
         System.out.println(inputLine);
           in.close();Specially, the error only occurs when using JDK 1.5.0_07-b03 on Solaris platform.
    I have tried using other JDK versions (e.g: 1.4.2_09-b05, etc...) and NOT see the error.
    This is very strangle! It may be a bug of this JDK version?!!!
    The below is all providers available on this JDK; search among these providers
    I've found out a unusual point that we see no any provider implementing RSA.
    So I doubt that this missing can lead to error
    [java.security.NoSuchAlgorithmException: Cannot find any provider supporting RSA/ECB/PKCS1Padding]
    ------------------- All providers avaible on JDK 1.5.0_07-b03, Solaris platform ------------
    SUN = SUN (DSA key/parameter generation; DSA signing; SHA-1, MD5 digests; SecureRandom;
    X.509 certificates; JKS keystore; PKIX CertPathValidator; PKIX CertPathBuilder; LDAP, Collection CertStores)
    SunRsaSign = Sun RSA signature provider
    SunJSSE = Sun JSSE provider(PKCS12, SunX509 key/trust factories, SSLv3, TLSv1)
    SunJCE = SunJCE Provider (implements DES, Triple DES, Blowfish, PBE, Diffie-Hellman, HMAC-MD5, HMAC-SHA1)
    SunJGSS = Sun (Kerberos v5)
    SunSASL = Sun SASL provider(implements client mechanisms for: DIGEST-MD5, GSSAPI, EXTERNAL, PLAIN, CRAM-MD5; server mechanisms for: DIGEST-MD5, GSSAPI, CRAM-MD5)
    For the other JDK versions, we can see "implements RSA" and then everything works fine!
    ------------------- All providers avaible on other JDK versions, Windows/Solaris platform ------------
    SUN = SUN (DSA key/parameter generation; DSA signing; SHA-1, MD5 digests; SecureRandom; X.509 certificates; JKS keystore; PKIX CertPathValidator; PKIX CertPathBuilder; LDAP, Collection CertStores)
    SunJSSE = Sun JSSE provider([b]implements RSA Signatures, PKCS12, SunX509 key/trust factories, SSLv3, TLSv1)
    SunRsaSign = SUN's provider for RSA signatures
    SunJCE = SunJCE Provider (implements DES, Triple DES, AES, Blowfish, PBE, Diffie-Hellman, HMAC-MD5, HMAC-SHA1)
    SunJGSS = Sun (Kerberos v5)
    I have downloaded and installed the Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy Files version 5.0
    but the error still occurs!
    Does anybody know how to fix this error? Please!!!

  • Reading XML file from UNIX

    I am reading XML file from unix using :
    FORM read_file USING p_name.
      DO.
        READ DATASET p_name INTO WXML_LINE LENGTH LENG.
      ENDDO.
    Then I am using subroutine below where I get a short dump at
      case X_NODE->get_type( ).
    FORM get_data tables   Y_CAPXML   structure GV_CAPXML
                  using value(x_node) type ref to if_ixml_node.
      data: INDENT      type i.
      data: PTEXT       type ref to if_ixml_text.
      data: STRING      type string.
      data: TEMP_STRING(100).
      case X_NODE->get_type( ).
        when if_ixml_node=>co_node_element.
          STRING = X_NODE->get_name( ).
          GV_NODETEXT = STRING.
        when if_ixml_node=>co_node_text.
          PTEXT ?= X_NODE->query_interface( IXML_IID_TEXT ).
          if PTEXT->ws_only( ) is initial.
            STRING = X_NODE->get_value( ).
            case GV_NODETEXT.
              when 'NIIN'.
                move STRING to GV_CAPXML-NIIN.
              when 'FED_x0020_STOCK_x0020_CLASS'.
                move STRING to GV_CAPXML-fed_stock_class.
              when 'DODIC'.
                move STRING to GV_CAPXML-dodic.
             endcase.
    The text for the short dump is : STACK_STATE_NO_ROLL_MEMORY
    Can someone please explain what is it mean.
    Thanks.

  • How to install owb server-side software on UNIX Solaris (SPACR-64)?

    Hi there,
    How to install owb server-side software on UNIX Solaris (SPACR-64)?
    I've read the install guide
    and it mentions
    3. Start the installer by entering the following at the prompt:
    cd mount_point
    ./runInstaller
    I don't have access to any graphical interface on the UNIX box e.g. x-windows nor any cd with the software, just the solaris software downloaded from web - does this include the runinstaller
    and is the runisnatller just a command line interface?
    I hoped I would be able to download the software from oracle website and then simply run the a setup scrip?
    Is it possible to do this? Would I simply substitute cd mount_point to cd <directory I put software)
    I've never ran oracle universall installer on UNIX before.
    Many Thanks

    Hi,
    You can install the server-side software from the downloaded software.
    You don't need the CD
    You do need an X-windows client on your computer to connect to the server OR work directly on the server.
    Without X-windows you cannot start the Oracle Universal Installer.
    Maybe there is a command line installation, I have never used this.
    I hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Emile
