XML errors when running specific reports in SCCM 2012.
I'm having almost exactly the same problem as is referenced in this article: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/uk/sqlreportingservices/thread/587a3319-bc54-4d30-bb3f-bb90a0c6ec50. When I try to run either of these reports (Computers with
specific software registered in Add Remove Programs; Count of instances of specific software registered with Add or Remove Programs) I receive the XML error shown in the attached screenshot. I'm fairly sure the problem is the same as the other admin
was experiencing and I just need to remove the unprintable characters from the dbo.v_Add_Remove_Program column. However, I have not been able to figure that part out yet. In addition, will this be a potentially reoccurring issue? I'm assuming
it is being caused by an application with a strange name being listed in the SQL table. Thank you in advance.

Torsten, thank you for your response, I do appreciate it. However, I had already seen the information from Garth and so had run the following SQL query:
use CM_UV2
Select distinct
CHARINDEX(cast(0xFFFF as varchar(1)),DisplayName0),
DisplayName0
from
dbo.v_Add_Remove_Programs
Where
CHARINDEX(cast(0xFFFF as varchar(1)),DisplayName0) > 0
When I run that query, plugging in 0xFFFF from my error, it executes successfully, but I get nothing in the way of results. When I use Garth's 0x28 I receive the expected results of any software that has a "(" in it. Can anyone tell me why
the 0xFFFF cannot be found or what 0xFFFF resolves to?
Are there any other methods from MS for resolving this issue other than hacking their databases?? In one of the articles I was looking at the MS MVP was quick to state that finding and deleting any offending values in order to make the reports run
correctly was definitely in no way supported. Now, I understand that MS can't have people just going around and hacking up their reports and still expect to be supported, but at this point I REALLY must call BS! Microsoft really
needs to come up with a permanent solution to this problem that doesn't involve hacking the database.

I've posted this to the SCCM 2012 forum and only received one response so far that states that this is a known issue that has been discussed before and isn't easy to fix; I was not given any actual solution either. Since this involves SSRS I
thought I would try my luck here as well.
I'm having almost exactly the same problem as is referenced in this article: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/uk/sqlreportingservices/thread/587a3319-bc54-4d30-bb3f-bb90a0c6ec50. When

sure the problem is the same as the other admin was experiencing and I just need to remove the unprintable characters (of the application name) from the dbo.v_Add_Remove_Program column.
The error references 0xFFFF but I could not find what that exactly translates too, other than it appears to be at the end of the spectrum for Unicode characters. I used the following sql query to search for the 0xFFFF entry, but no results were found:
use CM_UV2
Select distinct
CHARINDEX(cast(0xFFFF as varchar(1)),DisplayName0),
DisplayName0
from
dbo.v_Add_Remove_Programs
Where
CHARINDEX(cast(0xFFFF as varchar(1)),DisplayName0) > 0
When I used the original hex value of 0x28 I get plenty of results returned with "(" in them so the query seems sound. One of the articles I was searching mentioned running the query manually using the Management Studio and looking for strange characters
there but I'm not sure how to do that.
Basically I just need help finding the offending character and removing it. I also need to be able to replicate this for other strings as this looks like an error that will reoccur whenever any new software appears that has weird encoding in the title.
Thank you in advance for any help given.
Über RandomHi Uber,
This is a known issue that error occurs when running report "Count of instances of specific software registered with Add or Remove Programs" due to non-printable characters for XML. Based on internal research, the hotfix for this issue will be
included in the System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Service Pack 1.
As a workaround, you can remove the nonprintable character populated into the report parameter by referring to the following KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/KB/914159
Hope this helps.

Error when running a report in BPC NW
I am getting the following error when running a report for my application in BPC NW.
EVDRE encountered an error retrieving data from the Web Server (retrying in (X) seconds).
This error comes with this dialog option box to either continue or cancel retrying retrieving data. Retrying doesn't help either.
Any report I run (on any of my appsets), I get this error. I used the EVDRE function and also tried running a report using the template as the basis. But I get the error either way.
Does anyone know why this error is occurs or how to debug this issue. I saw some information about this in earlier threads but could not make much out of it.
Appreciate any assistance.Sanjay,
This is a very generic error...Couple of places to look for....
1)Reprocess the application (Modify application + Reassign SQL Index + Process Application)
2)optimizing the application sometimes helps (Full Optimize + Compress Database + Index defragmentation).
3)Create a "evdataserver_debug.txt" in user's private publication folder on server side to populate very detail level logging and check the log on client side EVDRE_LOG.txt for further peek into where things are getting messed up.
if evdataserver_debug.txt does not get populated on BPC 5.x...it is an issue with IIS authetication on Application server.
4)You have to check the event viewer into .NET server and also the BPC logs which can be found into
BPC\Logging for further details ..
Hope this helps..

Error when running a report writer
Hi,
I am getting an error ("Internal error: More than 999 GREP blocks were requested") when running a report writer.
The error diagnosis is:
Internal error: More than 999 GREP blocks were requested
Message no. GR 215
Diagnosis
An internal error occurred in the Report Writer.
When running the program, you selected the option to store your results
permanently. However, when the selected data was stored in blocks in
the GREP file, the maximum number of blocks was exceeded.
System Response
The selection program was terminated.
Procedure
Inform your system administrator.
You may have to increase the block size for the GREP blocks.
Anybody knows how to increase the size of GREP blocks?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Arun MohanHello,
The reason for the error GR215 is that too many data blocks are being
processed.
The explanation is one of the following:
- You have variation activated in the report
- A large group of objects is being processed and the report output
fails due to the large data size
- the selected data is reaching the technical restriction
Check the SAP note 64537. This note advises you to set the BLOCK SIZE parameter
in the coding to 500000. However, the maximum value possible is 999999. You may -
if you already implemented the coding change of SAP note 64537 - raise the parameter
once more to 999999.
If the error then still remains the selected/processed data is definitely too much.
Then check the report definition in comparison to SAP notes 317574 and 387414.

Thanks for any help in advance.Hi Simon,
Looking at the exception, it seems the machine is so slow that it could not give enough time for the report engines to start up can also result in this exception.
Please try the following :
Increase the callbacktimeout parameter for the report server. In server conf file that increase the callbacktimeout parameter for the report server from 1 minute (60000 milliseconds) to 3 minutes(180000 milliseconds)
Thanks,

Your UNC path is probably set on the instanceconfig.xml Presentation Services config file. It would seem that your network share, your network or something in between fails intermentely causing OBIEE to be unable to write to the catalog. I would suggest trying to move your Catalog to another network share more reliable to have your network administrators confirm there are no network issues affecting your box.

Hi,
When I run a report with only the below attribute and measure, I get the below error.
All the others attributes and measures are working fine, except for Stay and Nights.
I think it is a mapping issue in the repository, but could not find so far what the issue is.
Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P

Thanks and Regards
G.Hi,
1)Join conditions are missing (make sure all joins and conditions are correctly mapped and calc)
2) Check your repository and connection pool whether the correct repository is running or not.If it is correct then check the connection pool for the data source.
Thanks

hello,
i am running a report, which has three parameters begin date, end date and dept full name.
for example when i am running the report with following parameter's works fine they are 01/01/2002, 02/02/2002 and dept name is Animal Control.
but when i am running the report with the following parameters its giving problem i.e.
01/01/2002, 02/02/2002 and dept name is Mayor's office its not running the report says command line syntax error rep-0159.
in the database the dept name is Like Mayor's office.
i dont know how to convert the apostrophe to a string or what ever, to get the report.
this is production problem.
please do help me out.
thanks.Hello!
I guess you are running your report using rwrun60.exe, probably in batch mode.
In such cases string parameter with single quote inside of it should be passed in a such way: rwrun60 ... paramname3='Mayor''s office' ...
In Reports 6.0.8.11.3 it works fine.
No problems at all if you are calling report from the Forms using run_product built-in and passing prameter list into the report.

Error when running a report on CMC
Error in File Maintenance Costs by Work Code: Max processing time or Max records limit reached .
I can run this report through Crystal Reports 9 installed on my desktop and do not have any problems having data returned. However, when I upload it to the console and try to run it through CMC I get the above error.
Any suggestions?Thank you for your help. I had to make a change in the CR Processing Server so your answer put me in the right direction.
We are using CR Server 2008.
I had to set the value at 0 for Database Records Read When Previewing or Refreshing (0 for unlimited):
Thank you again!

I also had to make a few other changes as well.

Error when running a report to Excel
I receive an error when trying to run a report out of FDM in Excel. The report runs fine in PDF form but when running in excel it loses the formatting of the report and I get an error saying "excel found unreadable content". This report runs in all locations within FDM except for one. Has anyone ever come across this error? I am not sure why it would work for all other locations and just come up with an error for one location.
Did you write that software, COTS package called Medgate?
If not then ask that company for support. No one here would know how to fix it. They are using the CR RDC report engine.
Thank you

Error when running a report in Crystal Reports Server 2008
Received the following error message:
Error in File Relatorio4: Failed to load database information.
Or
Error
Failed to open the connection. Relatorio4 Details: [Database Vendor Code:
12154 ]
I'm trying to run a report Crystal Reports 2008 in Crystal Reports Server 2008.
I use the native driver for Oracle (Oracle Server).
Any help would be appreciated!Hi Vilari,
Do a small test to test your connection.
-Right Click on desktop ->
Create new text document->
Save as test.UDL->
double click and test connection by selecting driver name, datasource name, user id and password.
Click on Test Connection.
It should be succeed.
Database Vendor Code is the error returned by the database client/server.Its not a Crystal Report Error.Check Microsoft's web site for more info on what that error means.
Likely the client has not been in stalled or configured or both.
Also check that proper DSN is configured or not.
As you are using Oracle make sure that a TNSNAMES.ORA file exists and is in the proper place and accessible. See the operating system specific manual for details on the required name and location.
Check to see that the service name exists in one of the TNSNAMES.ORA files and add it if necessary.
Make sure there are no syntax errors anywhere in the file. Particularly look for unmatched parentheses or stray characters. Any error in a TNSNAMES.ORA file makes it unusable.
Hope this helps
