XML file import

Here are my system specs:
iMac (late 2012)
Fusion Drive
Processor 3.1 GHZ Intel COre i7
Memory 16GB 1600MHZ DDR3
OSX 10.9.1
Running
Premiere Pro CC 7.2.1
and FCP X 10.1
Hello there,
I have a fairly complex 3:00minute sequence that I want to export from Premiere using XML and then import into FCP X.
I exported and the tranlation error log was too long so I duplicated, shortenened and simplified the sequence and the translation errors seemed much more manageable. I quit premiere pro and ran FCP X. Import->XML And the XML files were all greyed out! I couldnt even select them. I tried compying the entire project file including a copy of the XML into FCP and still no luck. Am I missing something here?

Roundtrip..export XML from Premiere, open it in DaVinci Resolve..export XML from Resolve and import that XML in FCPX.

• Multiple XML file import

I'm using LiveCycle Designer 8.0. I am trying to create a form but the xml data I want to connect to is in two different files.
The form I am trying to create is a proposal/contract. I would like to be able to pull in information about two different parts of the form. Specifically Engineer info and Developer info. These two subsets mix and match constantly. The problem I am running into is that when I import one of the xml files, it NULLs all other fields. I also am unable to load two different xml schemas into the data view.
Are there any ideas out there? The only idea I have is programmatically appending one xml file to the other and then loading it in but I don't even know where to start that within LiveCycle (I could knock that out pretty quick in vb.net).

I have a vital form that clients fill out, which is passed to many people in the company along the workflow. The form is a Planner and we have in the following PDF, Word Doc..
Well before, the Planner.pdf was originally created in Word, since most people have access to Word.. but evolved to a PDF form created from the Word Doc via Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0 w/ User Rights enabled so that the form could be filled out and saved using Adobe Reader.. which was a step better than Word.. being that it is free. But this needed to be easier and more to the point b/c some clients don't particularly like installing the latest version of Reader, even if you provide them the link. Nor do they like saving the form, filling the form, and attaching the form to send back.
My goal is to have the client fill an HTML version of the form, submit and be done with it, but everyone in the workflow be able to easily receive the filled Planner as a PDF form.
So some months ago I ran into this post Chris Trip, "Populate Livecycle PDF from mySQL database using PHP" #8, 22 Sep 2007 4:37 pm
which uses the command line Win32 pdftk.exe to merge an FDF file into an existing PDF on the remote server, and serve this to whoever.
My problem was with shared hosting and having the ability to use the Win32 pdftk.exe along with PHP which is predominantly used on Linux boxes. And we used a Linux box.
so i created the following unorthodox method, which a client fills the HTML version of the Planner, all field values are INSERTED into a table in MySQL DB, I and all filled planners that have been filled by clients to date can be viewed from a repository page where an XML file is served up of the corresponding client, but someone would have to have Acrobat Professional, to import the form data from the XML file into a blank form.. altoughh this is simple for me.. I have the PHP file already created so that when a Planner is filled and client submits. >> the an email is sent to me with a table row from the repository of the client name, #, email, and a link to d-load the XML file,
But I also have the PHP files created so that the Planner can be sent to by email to various people in the workflow with certain fileds ommitted they they do not need to see, but instead of the XML file beiong served up i need the filled PDF Planner to be served.
I can do this locally with ease on a testing server, but I am currently trying to use another host that uses cross-platform compatibility so i can use PHP and the pdftk.exe to achieve this, as that is why I am having to serve up an XML file b/c we use a Linux server for our website, and cant execute the exe.
Now that I am testing the other server (cross-platform host), just to use them to do the PDF handling (and it's only $5 per month) I am having problems with getting READ, WRITE, EXECUTE permissions..
Si guess a good question to ask is can PHP do the same procedure as the pdftk.exe, and i can eleminate it.
or how in the heck can i get this data from the DB into a blank PDF form, like i have described??

• Automatic XML file import to CRM on Demand

Hi all,
I am new to CRM On Demand, and I need to set up a real-time automatic import of an XML file to CRM On Demand. I need the information to get entered as a new lead. If anyone has done this before and can guide me through the process, I would really appreciate it. I have done a few tests, but nothing has worked so far. I have no idea where to start.
Thanks!

Hi, yes I only use jax-ws to generate client artifacts for On Demand. I can imagine for first time user you have really big problems to generate the client code... The reason for this is in most cases the size of the wsdl files.
What you can do is.
1. Think about what you really need of the selected wsdl. eg. if it is account do you need all related objects like PlanAccount etc?
2. If you know what you need start to delete the not needed definitions from the wsdl and try the generation of client afterwards.
Best Regards

SQL*Loader is not an XML parser.
You have to first load the entire file in a database table, preferably in an XMLType column, then access the data relationally with dedicated XML functions.
Here's an example that shows how to do both operations at the same time (but for performance sake, not recommended on large files) :
create directory test_dir as '/tmp/xml';
SQL> select x.*
2 from xmltable(
3 '/PickticketBridge/Pickticket'
4 passing xmltype(bfilename('TEST_DIR','newxml.xml'), nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8'))
5 columns Company varchar2(10) path 'Company'
6 , Division varchar2(10) path 'Division'
7 , PktCtlNbr varchar2(10) path 'PktCtlNbr'
8 , Warehouse varchar2(3) path 'Warehouse'

• XML File Import: VB Script Error

Hello
I am getting a VB Script Error when trying to use the "Import Data Model from Single XML file". Here is the error.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks

Hi,
I would check the code line in the import extension (line 1350) you are using to get an idea what is working wrong. Maybe you are able to put some output to see what objects import is not working.
Could be an object that is not mapped or unknown and can not be transfered into the PowerDesigner metamodel object.

You should update your DOM document to represent the changes that you want made.
Then, using the Transformation API you simply transform your document onto a stream representing your file. Something like this:
Transformer transformer = TransformerFactory.newInstance().newTransformer();
transformer.setOutputProperty(OutputKeys.INDENT, "yes");
// TODO - set indentation amount!
Source source = new DOMSource(dom);
Result result = new StreamResult(file);
transformer.transform(source, result);Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help

I met a OutOfMemorry exception when I parse a xml
l file (20M) in my application(I extract data in xml
file for building my application data)...Rule of thumb for parsing XML: the memory you need is about 10 times the size of the XML file. So in your case you need 200 MB of free memory.
, but I found
that it take long time(for 2 more minutes) even just
searching the xml file , because my application is
viewed by web page...Then you need to redesign your application. Parsing 20 megabytes of XML for every request is -- as you can see -- impractical. Sorry I can't suggest how, since I have no idea what your application is.

• How to Import XML file into SAP B1

Dear All,
I have a scenario like,
I am receiving a XML file from a 3rd party application for the daily Creation,Update of Item Master,BP Master, Marketing Documents. I want to import this file into SAP B1 through its approp objects. I understand DTW has limitation in its file types (Semicolo,Tab,Comma,ODBC). How do i do this ? Please guide me.
Thanks,

Hy folks,
I´m frim Brasil and I've been studying the tool EFM (Eletronic File Manager) to learn more about it!
There I saw that we can extract to XML "any" infomation from the database we want, mainly through the GEP.
However, as I've seen, this Add-On can not import any XML file into SBO, unless for the BFP wich can be imported in conjunction with the BTHF Add-on.
So I ask: how is it possible to import XML data into SBO database? Is it possible to be done through the EFM? or it´s really necessary to write a code specifically to do that?
Besides, I know that de B1iSN fit to this necessity... but when I tried to use it, by the custom "object" for BP, for example, there are some data wich the mapping conteined in this custom "process" that can not be imported... I tried to understand how to map those other fields not imported by the custom but this has been dificult to me as I am a implementation consultant focused in administrative process not on development...
Could you please help me with this subject!
Thanks a lot,
Denis

• How to import multiple XML files into one inDesign document without copy/paste ?

I use InDesign CS6, and I have several XML files with the same structure. Only the data are different.
I created an Indesign layout with some tagged placeholder frames on merge mode, for automated layout.
Today for each XML file I have to create a new InDesign document to import the XML. Everything works fine. Then in order to have all Indesign layouts one after the other into a single Indesign layout, I have to use the copy/paste function.
I mean for example, copy the contents of all documents to the first one. Or add pages of other documents to the first one, then delete spaces between each page.
So my question is the following:
How to repeat this process without copy/paste function, knowing that the
number of XML files could be unknown.
Thank you very much for your answer.

Yes, effectively I would like to catalogue the files into one collection so i can save as one PDF and Print as one.:)
I know I could save each AI as a pdf them then merge the pdf's together in acrobat, but I have nearly 100 files so would feel more comfortable seeing them all together before print / saving.
My concern is that if I insert them in Ai, will the file resolution reduce? and will the ai still be editable and would it update the indesign file?
Thanks for the quick reply

Use XSU to store in multiple tables.
"XSU can only store data in a single table. You can store XML across tables, however, by using the Oracle XSLT processor to transform a document into multiple documents and inserting them separately. You can also define views over multiple tables and perform insertions into the views. If a view is non-updatable (because of complex joins), then you can use INSTEAD OF triggers over the views to perform the inserts."

HELP!!!
SGAREN

Hello Sally,
First, I have only heard/read good things about the book Steve recommends. It is on my to buy list one day. Been awaiting a long deserved vaction to pick it up to read.
I approach XML files pretty much like I do any text file I am sent in that I will import or copy/paste a text file into a frame in ID and begin setting my styles. With XML, though, I first clean it up, move closing tags up to their logical close lines, remove spurious codes that mean something in HTML but don't necessarily belong in the XML file (like &#x2019 which is an apostrophe so I do a search and replace. But for which is a non-breaking space I simply search and replace with a regular space in general), and make sure the XML validates.
Validation is much like making sure an HTML page is formed properly. I use an XML editor (XML BluePrint) and a text editor (UltraEdit) for these tasks. If I had to only have one or the other, I suppose the XML editor is what I would use.
I always show the import options when I import the XML and make sure that I link to the file.
So once a sample of the XML is on a page in ID (via File | Import XML), I highlight text within a tag, say like in your example above, the Providor name, and make it like I want and then create a new style. I generally name the styles as per the XML tag. Later on, that makes mapping tags to styles a little easier.
Once I set up all the styles preliminarily, I map the tags to styles. You can do that either via the Tags palette or via the Structure Pane that will appear once the XML is imported. In both cases, it is found via the flyout menu at the top right of their respective windows.
After mapping my styles to the tags, I select the root element in the Structure Pane (the topmost element. In your sample above it is "providors" and delete it. This removes the XML in your ID file. But the styles and tags are still present.
Then I import the XML again and look to makes sure all the tags/elements are styled as intended. I then correct any errors/ommissions. Then...I'll delete the XML again and import the full XML file.
I can upload what I did with your XML sample above so you can compare it to your source file if you would like. You would then see how/where I moved tags. Now, moving the tags is only "necessary" to avoid all the extra blank paragraphs. That can be accomplished by ID's search/replace, too. But I like to start out with the XML cleaned up, so I take the few minutes to do it.
Take care, Mike

• Library not recognized - can't import .itl or .xml files

Help! I opened iTunes today to update my podcasts and there's NOTHING there! (I have the newest version) I've been through troubleshooting to the best of my ability as well as checked the forums. My available .itl and .xml files are dated today - so they are empty. When I do a search for these files on my computer, I can find two older versions of them in the iTunes folder - one is listed under 'previous libraries' and one is just listed in the iTunes folder. But I cannot navigate to them through the import function of iTunes nor will it work if I use the 'open with' dialog box through the search window. They also do not show up in Windows Explorer. The only way I can see them is through the windows search function. I've tried copying them to different locations and then importing, but I get an error saying these were not properly exported files. The folder that I store my music in doesn't even appear to have all of the music in it anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
