XML files quarantined by anti-virus

My user client's exchange has quarantined the xml file "Exchange Anti-Virus software found Ackermans Form_data.xml matching FILE FILTER= *.xml file filter.
The file is currently Removed."
Is there any way around this or will I have to revert to FDF files?

Just try not using the file extension .xml - that usually is enough to step byu the virus checker.
Or check the settings for your virus SW to ignore XML....

  • Essbase files locked by anti virus

Can anti-virus scans lock essbase files (.sec / .pag / .ind etc) and cause issues/delays.
    We have McAfee 8.5

    Hi Amit,
Yes, virus scanning s/w can lock Essbase files which can cause problems/issues. I have faced similer problem when build faild due to locked .pag files. So best practice is to scedule virus scan s/w in off hours i.e. when no build process is due.
    Hope it answers you.

  • When i download a file from the web i get "Anti-Virus Program not found " message. This has been happening since I change anti-virus programs for CA etrust to Sophos. How do I get Firefox to recognise my new Anti-virus program?

every time i download a file from the web (ie. a PDF file) i get "Anti-Virus Program not found " message. This has been happening since I changed anti-virus programs for CA etrust to Sophos. How do I get Firefox to recognise my new Anti-virus program?

That is a very good warning provided by the Download Statusbar extension. Something like that should been built into Firefox. I filed this Bug report a couple of years ago, about the lack of a warning like that. <br />
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480855 <br />
I have looked everywhere that I can think of to find a list of '''IOfficeAntiVirus providers''' ''(as mentioned in the Bug report)'' that will work with Firefox, so I can't answer that for you.
You might want to ask the developer of the Download Statusbar extension about it. He might know which AV programs are compatible with the Windows API that Firefox uses for the download scan. <br />

I just downloaded an update and my sophos anti-virus is going beserk.  It will not allow me to remove the threat manually when I unlock the quarantine manager and I have no idea of what to do.

The malware it's finding is probably Windows malware attached to e-mail messages. What are the names of some of those things? Assuming they're not Mac malware, allowing Sophos (or any other anti-virus software) to remove them could cause problems. For example, if they're attached to e-mail, removing them improperly by simply deleting the message file will leave the malware on the e-mail server, and it may very well end up getting re-downloaded when your mail client syncs with the server. It may also corrupt the mailbox.
If you actually ever see a malware name starting with MacOS or OSX (I forget which one Sophos uses), then you will need to worry, and should not assume that the malware can be completely removed by anti-virus software of any kind.

The antivirus scanner has detected this file which is classified as Malware-risk high.
Either you would delete this file or would add it to the quarantine.
But these options are provided by Antivirus as well

  • Can't uninstall all anti virus files.

I would like to uninstall old anti-virus files. Both Virusbarrier and Norton were used at one time.  Both programs have been deleted but I still get asked about Virsubarrier renewal as well as Norton safe files questions....  I've gone thru applications, library folders and I've used Appzapper.  Where are the hidden files?  What am I missing?

Do not let your anti-virus s/w scan your Thunderbird profile folder. This would be asking for trouble, as you're finding out the hard way.
    To locate your profile folder:<br>
AppMenu button - Help - Troubleshooting Information - Profile Directory - Open Directory
If your anti-virus s/w did already make changes to your mail file(s), it's very likely something gets corrupted resulting in lost messages. So make sure you do have a backup of your profile.

  • Security Issues with uploading files into APEX - How is anti-virus handled?

    Hi APEXers!
We have been using APEX 3 for some time and are now migrating to APEX 4. We have a request for a new application that will require uploading spreadsheets. From other developers, I know it can be done in a few ways. The only thing we have done before is limitied - storing them in BLOBs.
With the Websheets in APEX 4, users could load them directly into the database.
But the anti-virus issue has always been unclear. For the apps that we are allowing to upload to BLOBs, they are small user, internal apps so we hope that our enterprise desktop software will stop a bad file before it gets uploaded.
We have gotten some questions about allowing outside-our-network people to upload spreadsheets or maybe even the public. So far, our security people have just said no - but I wondered what everyone else is doing?
Are there any White Papers or articles on this? My general impression is that anti-virus software has to be installed at the server level to deal with this.
If anyone can provide some guidance, I would appreciate it as I have to figure out what to tell the development team requesting to do this.

Do you have to take excel format? CSV would be a lot safer.

    HI Preran,
Thanks for your reply, I have read the thread but I am confused!
Is the anti virus situation effecting this prelude problem also???
Prelude wont run because it is missing a file mc_enc_dv.dll
If i reinstall to gfet this back, norton will only dump it again.
Why is this happening on the latest adobe software update?
I havent changed anything on my PC, installed softaere or codecs or anything, all I did was
    allow adobe to update
I also have the probelm with Premiere loading taking 3 mins or so - is this related to the same issue?
    Help!

  • Anti-Virus Soft. Finds Hidden File/ Odd Name - But Not Virus. How Do I Find

I used my anti-virus software CLAMXav to check files. It found odd named file that starts with dot. Apparently file is not a virus. Tried finding above file with Terminal (and Spotlight); but no go. So how do I do it.

There are lots of hidden files and folders in OS X that start with a dot. When a file has a dot at the beginning of its name, it's automatically hidden from the user. That's why programs won't let you save a file with a dot as its first character.
In short, they're hidden for a reason. To keep the user from saying, "What are these for?", and then deleting all of them simply because they don't know whey they're there.
You'll find tons of .DS_Store files. Pretty much each and every folder has one, including your desktop. These keep track of that folder's location on the desktop, size, position, listing option and a few other things. You can delete them, but the OS will just keep recreating them.

  • Anyone else gotten an anti-virus warning that Adobe file "Droplet Template.exe" is a Trojan?

Got this warning for the first time today -- my anti-virus prevented "droplet template.exe" from opening because it is seen as a Trojan.

This is from Vipre Threat Track after having received my file droplet template.exe for inspection:
We have received and tested the sent file 'Droplet_Template.exe' but it was not detected as a threat by Vipre. Please update Vipre to definitions 30465 or higher to verify on your end.
Let us know of the results. Thanks and have a great day ahead.
I had Vipre scan the file after I applied the latest updates and it was not seen as a risk. I have Vipre set to check for updates every 30 minutes, so not sure how they got outdated. They are now 30474.

  • Stopping anti-virus and anti-malware scans from scanning diasabled user files?

    Using Windows Server 2008
If I only disable old user profiles, does anti-virus and anti-malware still scan their profiles and all files contained there within? Is this something that will happen regardless of the old users status and during a "whole computer" scan?
And if so, are computer resources still being used for these old profiles?
    Thanks!

    Hi LaEmperor,
From my experience with different AV softwares, I can say that they continue scanning them as part of the filesystem, despite of being disabled.
I am not sure about your question for the resources, but I´ll give two shots:
    1. From the system perspective: basically affects the space that the files from that profile are using. The leave also some information on the Registry hive, on .USERS\ but unless it is a large numbre, I will not be concerned.
    2. From the Antivirus perpective: Well, as usual, Disk I/O, RAM, CPU, etc...; so as much as disabled profiles, as much they will add to the usual amount of resource comsumption.
    Hope you find this informative.

New & frustrated Mac user - trying to transfer files PC to Mac must be easier than this?  After unsuccessfully trying other suggested Help methods of transfering files from old  PC to new MacBook Pro  (eg iTunes files) tried Migration Assistant - when I press continue on PC, Migration Assistant shows message - error has occured in preparing data for transfer & quit buttion appears. I had already disabled anti virus software & run chkdsk.

  • I transferred big files from windows to my macbook, should I install anti-virus on macbook pro?

I transferred big files from windows to my macbook because I wanted to retire my old PC, should I install anti-virus on macbook pro because of those files I moved? Would you recommend? Or should I feel comfortable since I'm using OS X Mavericks? Anybody with the same case? Thanks.

Files moved from a Windows machine may contain malware, but that malware would not be a threat to your Mac. Windows malware cannot infect a Mac.
