XML in OWB

When trying to use the XML functions in OWB, we are immediately getting an error:
class is missing 'oracle.wh.runtime.xml.PLSQLAdapter'
How do I install this class, is it something that comes with OWB or with XML Toolkit or with..?

Can you please give me more details on this? In particular, the OWB version and the exact operation you are trying to perform.

Igor

  • Can we change table into XML through OWB

    Hi everyone,
    Is it possible to change table into XML through OWB?
    Can anybody help me.
    just send me the steps to do
    Thanks in advance
    Rachit

    Hello, Rachit
    As far as I understand our question – you need to export data from the table into XML file.
    I don’t think you have direct operator within OWB (at least for ver. 9.2.0.4). But anyway, you could write PLSQL procedure using DBMS_XMLQUERY to perform XML generation and transform it with your stylesheet.
    Unfortunately, this package uses DOM to work with XML, so could have a serious memory consumption while trying to export large tables this way.

  • Importing XML using OWB

    We are developing a new application using Oracle 10g R2. This is a hybrid warehouse/on-line system. Some users will need access to current information (less than 24 hours old) while others will need to access data up to 12 months old.
    The system will receive data from another system via advanced queues (AQ), the data being pushed by the source system in small batches. The data will be in XML format and needs to be loaded into several tables. We also need to do some complex transformations on some of the data (e.g. concatenating child records into a summary text field in the poarent record) and populate a couple of summary type tables.
    I have been asked to look at implementing this using PL/SQL stored procedures.
    I am currently investigating the use of OWB to generate the PL/SQL.
    Is this a viable approach? Are there any good examples of how to do this kind of thing?
    Although I have been developing with PL/SQL for many years, I am new to OWB and AQ and my XML experience is limited.
    Thanks in advance.

    Nevermind - here's the code for anyone interested:
    Normally with URLLoader you'd do this:
    // new instance of URLLoader class
    var myXMLloader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    myXMLloader.load( new URLRequest( 'common_upload_files/XML_files/120_display_list.xml' ));  ...wherever the XML file is relative to the project swf
    // add event listener to instance to issue event when finished loading xml
    myXMLloader.addEventListener( Event.COMPLETE, onXMLLoaded_120 );
    ...where onXMLLoaded_120 would deal with parsing the xml data.
    To do the same in AIR:
    var loadXMLfile:File = File.documentsDirectory.resolvePath("PlugTV Media Files/120_display_list.xml");   ...the XML file is in the user's 'Documents' directory (works on Win, Mac, Linux)
    // Pass the file.url property to the URLRequest constructor
    var myXMLloader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(new URLRequest(loadXMLfile.url));
    myXMLloader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onXMLLoaded_120)
    ...where onXMLLoaded_120 would deal with parsing the xml data.

  • ASCII to XML conversion

    LS,
    I've been asked to check whether OWB can be used as a conversion tool for ASCII into XML.
    I've found some references of OWB being capable of reading XML sources, but haven't found concrete answers about XML output.
    Is it possible to use OWB to access an ASCII flat file (as an external table for instance) and then map the read data to an XML output file?
    Thanks, Patrick

    Patrick,
    There are no specific features for converting ASCII files into XML, but OWB could be used for this purpose since it does write to file targets. The mapping would read from the ascii file as a source (you could use external tables for this, for example), perform the logic inside the map (wrap data in XML tags, etc.) and then target the output file. You could even use DB tables as XML containers / staging areas.

  • Importing SQL Server NTEXT into OWB (Warehouse Builder)

    Hi all,
    I'm having trouble using a SQL Server source in OWB. I need to import a NTEXT column and it casts to a LONG in Oracle, so I'm not able to select the imported data. Everything is working fine, except this NTEXT source values.
    Has OWB any parameters to import such NTEXT values? How can I read SQL Server data that is assumed as LONG values?
    Thanks in advance
    Best regards
    Jose

    Let me add to this question: is there any way to control the way OWB casts data types from non-Oracle database sources? I am importing metadata from SQL Server databases that have one or more columns of type XML. OWB also casts these as LONG, and when I try to access the data I get the message "Invalid use of LONG data type". If I change the column data type in the object editor to XMLTYPE, I still get the error, and cannot view the data.

  • ASCII to XML

    Hello,
    I'm looking to see if there is a way I can convert an ASCII file to XML using PL/SQL?
    For example if I have an ascii file like this:
    -ID 12345
    -AUTHOR test
    -SUBJECT testing
    Is there a way, I can convert it to:
    <ID> 12345</ID>
    <AUTHOR>test</AUTHOR>
    <SUBJECT>testing</SUBJECT>.
    Is it possible using PL/SQL?
    Any suggestions/help would greatly be appreciated.

  • Passing paramater from process flow to unix script in owb

    Hi,
    I need help in calling a function the return value must be passed as a paramater to user defined activity operator in owb which would in turn run a unix script on the server which would use the paramater passed.
    Thanks,
    Ashvin.

    hi let me give you some more infor about my proble.
    i have a unix script named caproc. The script would be passed a paramater. the script would be called from simple owb process flow and i need to pass the paramater to it.
    i have tested running other unix scripts and the are running fine.
    as you said to create a variable 'x' i did that and under paramater_list of the user activity operator under binding i selected the variable 'X'
    the process flow was valiadated fine and deployed but when i run it it gives me this error.

  • Error importing AWM XML Schema in OWB repository

    Hi, as you suggest me I downloaded the OWB expert "AW XML Import Expert" on this page:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/warehouse/htdocs/OWBexchange.html?cat=ALP&submit=search
    I correctly installed it on OWB, I created a module linking to the GLOBAL sample location with the tables, but when I try to import an AWM XML file (for example PRICE_CUBE.xml) I get this error:
    EXP00008: error during expert execution:
    java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: OLAP METADATA
    while executing
    "$saxparser parse $parserInput"
    invoked from within
    And so with any other dimension or cube file exported from Global Sample in AWM.
    Also using IE8 and Firefox 3 I can't open this file, and in IE I get
    System: -2146697211. Error during elaboration of resource "OLAP METADATA". Error during the elaboration...
    %BIND_VALUES;
    Is there a problem in the XML? Or in my procedure?

    Hello, all the errors you've been given are related to missing objects.
    You should re-create/import the location for you process flows before importing the process flows themselves.
    Also verify that you have imported the procedures FLSTG.PROC_GET_ETL_DATA_DATE and FL_TRG_FLSTG.PROC_UPDATE_RECO_CTL because you use them in your process flows so you need them: OWB refuses to import a process flows if some objects are missing because it would break some links.
    In general process flows should be imported where you have all the other objects in the repository because they are the final step and they reference many other objects.
    Hope this helps - Antonio

    You can leverage the XML SQL functions to extract from XML using the database, see the blog post below;
    https://blogs.oracle.com/warehousebuilder/entry/leveraging_xdb
    For example to extract information from your XML document the following SQL can be generated from OWB;
    select extractValue(value(s), '/book/author'),
    extractValue(value(s), '/book/year'),
    extractValue(value(s), '/book/price') from
    ( select XMLType('<bookstore>

  • How to extract data from xml file in owb 10.2?

    I have to load data from an xml file into a relational table , may i know how to do it in owb 10.2.

    This is a Java forum.

  • XML in clob columns and OWB

    I’m building some ETL process to extract data from XML in CLOB columns. I know that there are solutions to use functions as extractvalue() of WB_XML_LOAD(), but I want to know if there is any other way to deal with XML. The reason for that is because my XML files have multiple namespaces and nodes, and I need something more complex to deal with that, since I already tried those two first solutions.
    My first solution was to create a PL/SQL that parses the XML and looks for tags and elements. It populates a relational table, and I might use OWB to extract the data from this table. But I’m dealing with a large table and it takes a while for processing, plus my code is hude!
    My question is: Does someone have any experience with complex XML in Clob columns? If so, what was your solution for that?
    Thanks a lot!

    CLOB is a fully-updateable, character large object that is stored inside the database. It can be text-indexed using interMedia for document searching.
    BFILE is a readonly pointer to a file on the external file system whose content is not physically stored in the database. It can also be text-indexed for document searching, but it can't be updated.

  • Unable to use XML functions in OWB 10gR2.

    Hi,
    I am trying to use XMLELEMENT ,XMLATTRIBUTES and XMLFOREST function for loading into a XML file using OWB 10Gr2.
    During deployment it is erroring out with an error 'identifier 'XMLELEMENT' must be declared'.
    Please suggest some workaround or possible reason for this problem.

    Hi Navneet,
    I have followed these steps,But beyond that there is some thing which we want to achive.
    We want the xml file to have a proper format like
    "<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <Header recTyp ='01' RTA='IN200200' ISIN='IN2000020220' recDate ='20090202' stmtDate='20090202' stmtTime='232020'
    totNSDLPos='100' totTrnstPos='0' TotUnlckPos='10' TotLckPos='100' totPldgPos='0' totFrzPos='9' totIdtPos='9'
    NSDLTotFrzPos='1' totDtlRec='2'/>
    <Details recTyp='02' dpId='IN300118'>
    <BenDtl benAcctNum='12345678' type='01' subtype='02' status='01'>
    <FirstHldr name='op' fatherName='' PAN='HUFSOSFNKS'>
    <Address type='1' pinCode='400097' phoneNum='28490520' faxNum='9999999999'>
    <Part type='1'>
    </Part>
    <Part type='2'>
    </Part>
    <Part type='3'>
    </Part>
    <Part type='4'>
    </Part>
    </Address>
    </FirstHldr>.........."
    On the oracle blogs it was suggested that this can be achived by using XML function in the expression operator.
    But while using them,OWB is not recongnising these XML function.

  • Loading xml document in OWB

    Hi ,
    I am trying to load XML document in a Dw .Is it possible to do in OWB ?
    if Yes .Can someone please help me .
    Thanks,
    katet

    As far as my understanding goes, there is no native mechanism avialble in OWB to handle XML sources.
    The only possible way I see to handle this would be :
    -through PL/SQL and table function. Or may be writting Java stored proceduers.
    I stumble upon this very good posting at Asktom which talks about handling XML with SQL.
    http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/ask/f?p=4950%3A8%3A773383103134756029%3A%3ANO%3A%3AF4950_P8_DISPLAYID%2CF4950_P8_CRITERIA%3A4061080732051%2C

  • Loading the relational data from XML to tables through OWB

    Hi,
    Please help me to load XML my mapping it through OWB in oracle 11g.
    I can do it through pl/sql,but nees to be done using OWB and I don't know OWB.
    Please suggest by example.
    Thanks in Advance !!!

    Hi
    Please follow below steps for creating module(repository owner) and
    1. login design center thru repository owner ( start--> Oracle - OUIHome1 --> Warehouse Builder -- Design Center)
    2. Under your project (Ex : MY_PROJECT) , create new module and crete new location and register that location
    Note : enter repository owner user and password
    3. Expand your repostory owner module and expand transformations and right click and select import
    now follow my eariler steps :
    2. Import WB_XML_LOAD procedure . and exit to repository owner.
    3. connect to owb design center through your repository user (ex : REP_USER)
    Create New mapping and drag one Constant Operator and create one attribute, paste / edit following code
    '<OWBXMLRuntime>'||
    '<XMLSource>'||
    '<file>E:\SOURCE\emp.xml</file>'||
    '</XMLSource>'||
    '<targets>'||
    '<target truncateFirst = "FALSE" dateFormat="yyyy.MM.dd">rep_user.emp</target>'||
    '</targets>'||
    '</OWBXMLRuntime>'
    4. Drag pre mapping operator and select WB_XML_LOAD procedure
    5. Connect Constant Operator attribute to pre mapping operator.
    6. Drag two dummy tables and connect source to target. (ex : drag t1 (table) tab two times and connect.
    7. Validate and deploy the mapping.
    8. grant necessary grant command to rep_owner user to rep_user user.
    (Note : target truncateFirst = "FALSE" by default truncate the table. So you have to give grant privileges
    To rep_user , select ,insert, delete privileges.
    9. Execute the mapping , and check EMP table. (Note : before loading EMP table delete all records ).
    10 . If you want more description please go through the below link
